My AC Charger seems fairly Hot. It not like I can't touch it Hot but there is some heat to it. I am charging though the Dock, have others seen this also?
Thanks
I just unplugged mine (tablet only) and noticed that the plug was hot. I just picked up the TFP yesterday, so this is the first time I've noticed how warm the plug can get.
I have only had mine a week and this is 1st time I had actually touched the Adapter part while it was plugged in and Charging and noticed the Heat. The cable and connection to Prime are cool it just the adapter at the wall socket.
ive noticed that if u charge it behind something (cabinet, desk,or w.e) it heats up very fast also if ur prime is in the dock nd ur charging it heats upfast, and if ur prime is on it over heats quickly.

Reverse how it is plugged in and see if that helps. This also happens to ours and I find this troublesome. Reversing the prongs seems to solve the problem.

That did the trick. I turned the Adapter around and No Heat at all to the touch now.
Thanks

I have my Adapter Plugged into a Power and if you Notice there is "wording" on one side of the Adapter and I have this "wording" facing up. Not sure if that means that if plugged directly into a Wall outlet this "wording" would also be Facing up. I have taken a Picture of this on my Prime but I am dumbie when it comes to Posting Pictures...How do I post my Picture to here?
Here is Picture

This has been a long standing issue with the Transformer Adapters. I had the same with my old TF101, until it died and had to buy a replacement.
Not sure why this is happening, but my suggestion, recommendation even, is to unplug the adapter if you are not using it.

So, i put my TFP on the charger last night.. it was around 5% battery. I check on it now, and its completely off, the charger is hot and smells like burning plastic and my TFP is dead.
I'm not getting any response when i try plugging in the USB to any USB to 110V charger..
Anyone else experience something like this? I've had no problems with the device so far

They are identical.
Also: Besides it being USB 3.0 (Requiring a special charger), the Asus chargers are chipped to recognise Asus devices and deliver 15v verses the standard USB 5v so that they charge faster. The TFP wont charge at all on only 5v. It's the same reason it wont charge from your computer.

wrong again the dock pulls the 15v at 1.2A the reason it will not charge or chages very slow is your usb is outputting like 500 mAor less without the flow of electrons which current is it will not charge very fast at all! 5v is fine for it! but the charger charging at 5v pulls 2.1A
the tablet also trys to pull more current when it is almost dead! so try to keep it above 20% to avoid this

Ok, my Gigabyte motherboard puts out 2.5A specifically with tablets in mind. If it was charging, my lockscreen would say "Charging..." on it, which it does not. No need to be a rude know-it-all with your "Wrong again..." attitude. Just trying to help out here.
The Prime will charge on a USB but it has to be turned off. I've confirmed this and the manual says this as well. As far as my charger goes it gets warm but not hot or smells. One thing I do when charging is turn off the tablet.

Ok. That seems correct. Thanks for verifying.
It does take a lot longer to charge on the USB though. I can go from 20% to 100% in a couple of hours on the wall charger with the Prime turned off. On USB and the Prime turned off I was at approximately 15%, went to lunch and did some other things, came back about 1.5 hours and when I turned the Prime back on it was a little over 50%.
Might be faster on my Desktop since I have the high power USB ports. I will try it and post results eventually.
Hey guys,
Weird issue that just started today. I have had my dock plugged in for about 4 hours now and it showed a 0% charge when I plugged in my tablet 10 minutes ago. The tablet can charge via the dock when it's plugged into the wall, BUT the dock shows as having 0% charge. Even after unplugging the dock, it shows 0% battery on the dock.
When the cable is plugged in, the LED on the tablet is holding orange (charging), but the LED on the dock is flashing slowly (low battery).
Long story short, the charging mechanism seems to be in place, but the battery on the dock does not seem to hold anything. Tried docking, undocking, etc.
Anyone else experience this??
Bump. Planning on calling Asus for an Rma tomorrow

I saw something about this a while back, but I forget where, try charging it (just dock) by connecting it to a usb slot on your pc. Sorry I can't remember where the post is, but it was along the lines of what you are getting, dock got to zero, and would no longer charge. Not sure iit will help, but got to be worth trying.

Mine is dead, too. Keyboard works, but it always shows 2% charge, even after being on the charger overnight.
I've tried charging it with the tablet connected, separately, and from a computer.
Hi all,
hope someone can help me.
So far everything with my prime is working properly, except one thing.
I can not charge my docking station, it shows allways 0%.
When I charge via dock, tablet and dock I can see the charge symbol for the dock but after unplugging it still shows 0%!
Even if I charge only the dock, the orange charging light is flushing. But when I put it together with the tablet it still shows 0%.
anyone an Idea what to do?

Did you find any solution to this as I have the exact same issue. Everything on my dock and tab works perfectly apart from the battery in the dock will not take any charge.
Most of the time, 0% charging means you have a bad dock mainboard. Sometimes the mainboard can damage the battery, but most of the time the battery is fine. Your best bet is to RMA the dock back to Asus to have it warranty repaired.

i 've had the same problem, the not charging problem. You might want to check the charge port on your dock. I have had the problem that two of the many "pins" in the charge port were deformed/bent and touching other "pins". After i corrected this the Dock charged again. You might want to use a magnifying glass.

I am going to a venue next weekend and I'm quite sure my prime will run out of battery, I can't get to a plug socket at the venue but I can charge it in the car however using the charger cable and a lighter socket adaptor it doesn't seem to charge.
How can I charge my tablet when I'm out, is there any solar option or an extra booster battery pack or something.
I am also looking for an alternative charger for when I'm at home because the cable is so small I can't have the tablet charging on my desk where I want it because the cables too short.
Buy a power converter. They are cheap.

Hey guys,
Just bought a prime online and it's already starting to give me problems; specifically, it doesn't seem to want to charge the dock/tablet.
Is this the standard charger everyone has? Searched Google and I see only the more rectangular one
Any help would be appreciated

That's the Nexus 7 charger. Did you buy it new or second hand?
Haha. Awesome.
And I got it 2nd hand off ebay
I'm not guessing that's why it's not charging fully? Aka barely charges only when turned on and never charges the dock

Yeah, they have different Amp and Voltage values which likely means your Prime isn't getting sufficient power from the adapter charge the tablet and dock. Drop the seller a message explaining you received the wrong charger adapter.
Good luck.
got this one from amazon because oem is sketchy at best. I only use this to charge my prime now since it fits the dock better and doesnt get as hot while charging

I figure it just gets too hot and there is the matter of wanting my usb cord to be intact when I need it. I think for 9 bucks its worth it.

I've got that one to, but I'm kind of reluctant to use it because when I do I get "extreme lag" and weird screen issues (non-responsive). It's probably just a bad unit though.

It's probably normal. I had a charging issue and thought it was the charger so I bought a new one, but it turned out I had to open the tablet to get it fixed. I don't get this issues with the oem charger so I just keep the other one as backup. Got scared it was sending power to the wrong pins but that's just paranoia I guess!

just ran a mini test of stock vs aftermarket charger. you are correct. the aftermarket charger makes the touch screen a lot more volatile than the oem charger. That said I dont really use it with the cord installed so I will probably continue to only charge it with the amazon cord and save my oem for flashing emergencies.
I picked up my backup cord the day after I plugged in my prime and nothing happened. not a good feeling.
Thought I'd share what happened with my charger.
Bought my prime about a month ago and was having issues with charging. Sometimes it would go into charging mode and other times it wouldn't. At first it appeared that I had to unplug the charger and let it rest before it would work.
FInally I found a bad connection between the charging block and the wall adaptor that slides on to the chargin block.
The 2 loop prongs that stick up out of the charging block seemed to be the problem.
I first tried to open up the loops a bit by using a small screwdriver to spread apart the loops, as they seemed a bit squashed. This didn't do it.
Then I pulled the prongs away from the charger block SLIGHTLY, snapped the wall adapter back on and its worked flawlessly since
