as the title says, i just bought a lumia 800 of ebay
got myself the cyan model, with 16gb of mem
£265 uk pounds, unlocked as new, good deal?
im coming over from a htc hd2 with win7 flashed to it, what do you guys reckon ill enjoy the most?
personally im looking forward to a decent days battery, even when playing music, and the compass working
im not looking forward to a non-removable battery (like having spares for long weekends at festivals without charging) and going from my 32gb card to a 16gb
any accessories people recommend?
Well since you already bought it, I suppose you like the way it looks.
I think most of the people who bought it, did so because it looks absolutely fantastic - I did and with that I have to live with all of the drawbacks that it (and most other phones out there) has.
I personally like- how it feels in the hand and how quick the os is on it.
Enjoy your new toy
I bought my lumia today, WP7 is a bit confusing for me. Its my firs one, I came from android (LG OB). If you dont mind i have some questions:
-Is there a smart way to connect contacts with facebook or WL profiles? (it would be boring to do it one by one)
-I linked my live profile with FB, i can receive and send messages like in fb messenger, but is there a way to update conversations? sometimes i dont get some messages and they appear minutes later.
-how about unlocking? how is it working (or not) here? is it possible to install cracked apps?
-the most annoying for me: is there any chance, to change keyboard? in my language we have a lot of letters that are not included in basic keyboard. any chance to change it like in android?
thanks
ps.: im also really curious about if there is a HDR cam app (i couldnt find one)
I had the HD7 which is a lot like the HD2 and think the Lumia is a much better phone. WP7 is a great experience on the Nokia.

1. A smart way would be to name the people the same way in each service (Facebook, live, etc.) so that they would be linked automagically.
2. -
3. As far as I know there's no "jailbreak" for Lumia yet. Operator unlocking, I guess, can be done via Nokia firmware update tools by flashing an operator free firmware. By cracked apps I hope you don't mean pirated apps?`
4. There seems to be a Hungarian keyboard but no special characters. I'm Finnish and in Finnish keyboard we get the 3 "special" extra letters we need (å,ä & ö). By long pressing a letter you get to choose a lot of extra special letters and I guess those would cover your needs.

I'm sure XDA would rather seeing you use the dedicated XDA app though.

My upgrade t610 will arrive later this week. Must be a good phone, as its been out of stock.. A few instability issues with the XDA have made my mind up. This is what I now choose:
t610 - main mobile (like normal people..)
XDA - as a PDA. (like a posh git!)
Can anybody who has gone this illogical way back in time also, please give some advice, and comments. Is it easy to cope going back to an ordinary mobile handset again? Or did you move back to the XDA . .
All comments very welcomed please.

hi i dunno what id do without my XDA lol
i was like this with nokias when the 3510i was 1st released i had one of the 1st units out i thought it was the dogs bollocks then the 7210 ect.. came out i was like um im bored of this so i was gonna get a big pda phone i though......
7210 i could only just afford, 7650 i want badly and i can only just afford, p800 out my league, spv i want but id like the XDA more but XDA was way way out my price range
so i was going to get the spv as my mate had the spv and another had the 7650 i was impressed by both....
but one day browsing ebay i found an XDA for £190 buy it now so i got it and i was like damn being with nokia all that time and moving to another make is a big step....
but after
XDA>All
nokia are cheaply made peices of ****e :| now campared to the XDA
but now i have kinda like taken a fancy to the 6600 and 3650 but the thing that sucks about them is no SD slot :| only mmc and only 128mb tops which plain sucks.
so i want the XDA 2 when its out but i know im not gonna be able to afford that.
but if the XDA1 had bluetooth i would keep but i really want bluetoohe
this has made me thought of getting a 3650 and then a ipaq 3870 so i can use the net on the move using bluetooth and also have a mobiule phone/camera to take pics and put them on my ipaq.
but im not too sure as i love the XDA lol
sorry for the comfusion just i wont be able to move down from XDA to a normal phone it would have to be PDA style or ahve PDA features atleast
gaz
once you have tasted the cream how can you go back to uht long life milk on your corn flakes? just buy jeans with big pockets.
The Xda promises me a mobile office and to a certain
extend it has. I no longer feel guilty sitting in a coffee bar when I should be behind a desk
I can envisage working well into my old age too if it means I can sit in a beach somewhere instead of behind a desk. And when my memory finally goes....
speaking as an XDA newbie - I've had mine about a month now - and not to mention the CPW billing issues  ... I personally have to agree, but that there is a time and a place for each unit. Let's face it there are times when the XDA is just a bit inconvenient and you wish you had a sturdy little nokia in your pocket.
The beach thing sounds great, but do you really want to use the unit in that environment ? that's when your digi fun-cam-fone comes in handy for me.. 8)
I've also suffered a few glitches which make me wonder if they haven't got the application quite "right" yet ? (a la 3..) for true mobile comms - certainly the costs are prohibitively expensive, i.e. the service providers need to drop costs to consumers and speed up the service. But also the phone software doesn't seem to work too well with the PC side ? Or is that me ?
So in summary I think there's a place for the XDA, e.g if my music career takes off I can be fully mobile with all my demos in tow etc - the possibilitys are endless, but for now I'll keep checking my pop mail from work, playing pacman in meetings, getting annoyed that I can't get through the company firewall to get work e-mails (bugger that one!)
he he I dont actually take my xda to the beach.
What I am trying to say is that I am more in love with the concept of mobile computing and how it can change the way we work.
I mean why retire when you can continue "working" at the beach if you know what I mean.
To free us from the tyranny of being tied to our desk or office thats the promise.
This is very exciting and I am looking forward
to seeing what came out in this type of devices.
There is of course a portion of the population (even a majority) that cannot be bother with the complexity
or for whom voice call reliability is absolutely critical and lets face it the xda is not quite "there" yet.
Hi All,
It's an interesting argu ... however, let me remind you all how we can now have a tablet PC instead of the old days when I was lucky to get XT with 20MB HD PC on my desk. I believe the XDA (as a concept) is still a baby. It has its own challenges (battery life for now). Also, the wireless comm is evolving too fast (GSM -> GPRS -> UMTS -> ... ??? ) ... I can see that day comming when you will no longer be able to say is it a phone or computer
For now, one have to decide: either you need a mobile computer, or a computerized mobile
Hmmmm...something to make you think here:
http://www.msnbc.com/news/952420.asp?0si=-
'tis true alquerty - I myself did a support job where I was laptop based, and found myself working from home due to the timings of various procedures. The line started becoming blurred for me then.. checking logs whilst shaving and all sorts..
Going back to the previous point about the XDA being a baby. Absolutely. The idea of us having a mobile unit that does everything has surely been around for yonks. Thunderbirds, Joe 90 - video watches and all that. We're getting there, that's what I meant about the application, it just hasn't been fully realised yet - give 3G a little while and we'll all be there soon anyway
Bring the points together and you could end up with this nightmare-ish vision of the future, with no communicative boundaries. You can always be found. But I guess the question you have to ask is "do you want to"? - Which is where I think the doubters come in - I guess they just like their privacy, and regard voice as definitive ? (i.e. "if I'm speaking to them then I'm available")
Interesting debate !
nokia
The Nokia Communicator has a good principal. I think these things go back to the nineties? Anyway, the office away from the desk.. You open up the communicator, and there it all is waiting for you. qwerty keyboard, reasonable screen, and some useful apps.
I remember the best thing that nokia did with that was the fax. You were able to send and recieve faxes with that thing superbly.
From memory this might have been the first mobile with speaker phone as well. Stick the phone on the kitchen table and sit round it having a conversation. Pioneering days.
Yes ppc has come a long way. Playing strip poker on the sly and such is great. But the fundamentals of the business users are not forfilled. For this market a reliable functioning piesce of equipment is required. Nokia seem to have this side covered?
Anybody ever seen a nokia communicator (9190 I think...) being used with a pocket pc? How daft would that be!!!
well my XDA is now sold ill miss it getting a 3650 to try out.
if i dont like it then straight back to the XDA but ill get a 64mb version this time round thats if i dont like the 3650.
if i like the 3650 ill get an ipaq with built in bluetooth and a gps unit so that way i can still use the net using 3650's bluetoohte and have a cam and pics in instant + mms and reliable signal on the phone
shame bout it being a sybian phone and not CE

Don't delude yourself. A year ago I wanted a T68 badly to use with my Jornada via Bluetooth. Must be a good phone--it was back-ordered three weeks, right? First one was DOA. Second one lost the "up" direction on the joystick in about a week. Third one went two months before it just started rebooting itself. Replacement for that was DOA.
Meanwhile I moved up to the XDA and cannot imagine going back. I had to use a regular phone for most of a day when I hosed up a radio stack update and thought I was going to lose my mind.

Apart from Chevron and MS App Hub, there is currently no other way of unlocking your Lumia
Ok that's bad, for navigation i will use my HD2 again with Navigon.
Thanks so far!
Nokia Drive works fine for me
Yeah, what is wrong with Nokia Drive? Is it because you still need a data connection when running? They will release an update soon that should fix this for full offline routing...
What's the use of a smartphone without data anyway? Nokia Drive doesn't use much bandwidth to look up the directions. Everything else is already stored on the phone.
It depends if you are in area with a connection. I found it baffling that I downloaded the maps and then still had to be connected!
Wil
M8, The Lumia in the app department... is weak as ****, I've spent about £100 on apps which i've already got for free on other phones, it makes me sick.
The one which pushed me over the edge is the Sonos app, free on every other platform!!! And it's actually called "Sonos", on windows phone, it's called "Phonos" and it was £7.99p haha, that's a joke, at the rate i was going, i could have bought 6 Lumia's in the space of a year.
I'm sorry but with that in mind I would rather spend my money on something i'm going to enjoy, something which if i want to, i can download an app and try it out and remove it if i don't, i can assign a ringtone to whatever the hell i like, because it's my bloody music, so i bought an evo 3d, best phone i've ever used.
And for the record, Nokia drive sucks ass, major ass, Co-Pilot Live 8 with speed cameras built in, now that's a sat nav, no need for data, just GPS, locks in about 5 seconds.
The lumia came close, and it made me love it, but then it made me hate it, give it cash and eventually resent it, sad really.
I'm giving my Lumia away, it's boxed downstairs, i have no need for it.
You do realise that the Sonos app, 'Phonos' is not official, and that's why it's cost a ton rather than free? It's someone making money while Sonos get their act in gear.
Don't like the Nokia maps, want Navigon as on my HD2, very good app (premium version!).
What if you are i a different country like Belgium or Germany, don't wanna roam costst a lot (-;

For free obviously because Navigon is in the Marketplace.
If you use it a lot, it's only normal to pay for the software.
yep but with every other device i had i must buy new navigation software.
I have TomTom & Sygic but they don't develop on WP7, so you are a brave one and buy everything? don't use XDA cracked roms, xapfile install and many other options here provided?

Sorry m8, my sister asked first, plus u did forget a certain magic word, the manners on ppl these days, terrible.
I have heard a mixed bag of reviews about this phone but what I gather is most bugs are no ironed out. I have a SGS2 at the moment, but its to big and I never really was a big android fan and well iOS is looking very dated, I love the look of the Lumia 800. Could you recommend it?
I'd vote yes. The look and feel is great. The OS works well. Main caveats are lack of apps, and bugs/short battery life, as you say I hope these are mostly sorted. Biggest frustration for me has been the won't charge/won't turn on problem if you let the battery run flat, but I'm hopeful the latest update may help.

I feel exactly the same way about the SGS2, Android and iOS.
I originally bought the Lumia as a stop gap - I was sick of flashing roms onto my Galaxy S and thought the Lumia would be nice to own until the iPhone 5 comes out. But after having the Lumia for a month, Apple will need to do something drastic with iOS as well as the hardware to get me away from my Lumia. I love it to bits.
You're picking the right time because the annoying bugs - terrible battery life and bad audio quality are now fixed. I'm sat here listening to music off the Lumia via a set of Sennheiser HD555's and it sounds brilliant.
The OS is great, it has a couple of minor usability issues compared to iOS which is very good in this respect, but it blows Android out the water.
Go for it!

So far all the issues have been dealt with, if your phone has a fault that needs sorted, I can assure you that Nokia will sort it out. They are people that listen to the consumers, as most bugs have so far been dealt with. I have no problems with the phone now apart from my screen being messed up, but hopefully that's getting replaced by them. I would recommend the phone as it's excellent value and Nokia are doing everything to make this phone one of the best out there, as you can see on the adverts, as well as the amount of time they're putting into the Lumias. You get what you pay for, oh if you're coming from SGS2, it's a little on the heavier side.
Really tempted. Can these be developer unlocked?

At the moment, no, we haven't heard anything from Chevron sadly, only via App Hub ($99) or student dev unlock. But we can always hope it comes soon. Test the phone out first, to see if you can stick without homebrew as you are coming from an Android (the mother of all customization).
I changed from sgs2 and I have to say that I haven't looked back. This phone is brilliant and finally a good phone with excellent usability.
I came from a Mozart and it was a relief. The design is so much better, and it's quite much faster as well. I have never owned an Android, never wanted one, and with my Lumia I'll never want one.
WP7 is a genuinely different beast compared to iOS/Android. I'm not going to tell you that it's better, because that all depends on taste, but if you're getting a WP7 phone then the Lumia 800/900 is an excellent choice.
As a developer I'd never go back to Android simply because it's so horribly buggy and the software design so godawful that even a dualcore gigahertz processor isn't enough to make it render things smoothly. What's more, bugs and security exploits don't get fixed unless you install your own rom or wait a year for a carrier-approved update. There's so many bugs that it's almost impossible now to write an app that doesn't crash on at least 10% of the devices out there
As for downsides to the Lumia, there's no internet tethering at the moment, although WiFi tethering has just been announced. Battery life isn't great, but it seems to differ from phone to phone. When I just got mine I had 8-10 hours of battery life, but after two or three charge cycles my phone lasted a full day, and I really haven't had problems since then. As far as I know this is all fixed with the new update though. Also, WP7 doesn't have all the apps you're used to having on Android, and the ones that are there aren't always the best. Spotify for instance is totally unusable for me, and I've uninstalled it about a month ago and downgraded my account. Things like Facebook and twitter seem fine though, and it's nice to have people's Facebook pictures show up in your contacts. The browser is also great and fast, although I'm not too happy with Bing and rather use Google. Nokia maps also isn't as good as Google maps, but a third-party app fixes that pretty quick.
Imho, if you want a phone that just works, get either a WP7 phone or an iPhone. If you're getting a WP7 phone, get a Lumia 800.
Definitely! And two of my friends are already ordered after i show em what you can do with unlocked device
an awesome phone, i love this phone, iv tried android, iphone blackberry, and id rather use this phone than any other phone.
i can definitely recommend this phone to everyone after the latest update. most bugs have been sorted our( not that i was having problem with it previously) but in general the 12070 update really does make this a valid choice..
on the other hand if you could wait for the lumia 900 it would be a good idea..but as long as you dont need a huge display..and a fornt facing camera the 800 should be cheaper and it does feel more comfortable in the hands
would recommend the lumia 800 yes
imho way better than iphone and android platform the 800 is so nice to hold in your hands its the best phone i have ever used, and i have had a lot from iphone 4 to 4s to galaxy nexus and sg2 the lumia is a much nicer phone to use and looks better.
I wouldn't recommend it. I've been through 3 of these devices all with different hardware faults. And the 900 is close to release, it's got the same features, a bit bigger and better screen (Not PenTile) and FFC.
Agreed here.
I feel the same way. My girlfriend has my old iPhone 4 and I sent the HTC Sensation packing to pay for my Lumia. This phone is ****ing amazing. I have had zero problems except the camera. I figured out that to counter this I can turn up the exposure value in the camera settings and the pictures are fantastic!
Note: I imported a HK model here to Beijing (we have sweet markets) and do not have Nokia Music.... this is lame otherwise, the phone is great.

My Lumia Experience
Hi,
after using a Lumia 800 for a couple of weeks, here's my two cents:
I have gone through all iPhone-Generations (and some symbian-stuff before) and currently own a bunch of current phones, among them the SGS2 (custom firmware, admittedly) and an Lumia 800. My company is developing apps, that's why I get to play around with smartphones a lot.
The Lumia 800 is hands down one of the best looking phones around. The size is perfect and it feels just right. I also dig the responsiveness of the user interface and I really like the approach of smart tiles in Windows Phone. Not as cluttered as android widgets and much smarter than the iOS counterpart (there is no such concept).
Unfortunately, there are a lot of real show stoppers that make me pick up my SGS2 in the morning, instead of the Lumia. Let's start with basics like calendaring and e-mails. Handling of calendar invitations does not work most of the time, the phone does not even handle .ics-files, which makes me pin down invitations, then go to the calendar and create a new entry manually - c'mon, this is basic stuff!
If you are setting up Google Mail on the phone, you will see only the first level of tags (a.k.a IMAP-folders). If a tag has sub-tags, it won't be displayed in the list, making the whole concept useless - bummer.
Syncing your contacts with google works in such a way that all your contacts do actually appear on the phone - except for random phone numbers that just will not be synchronized. If you really want to have all your contacts' phone numbers on the Lumia you better go through all those contacts and make sure the phone numbers are labeled in a way the Lumia can understand. I am not sure which labels work reliably. Updating all contacts just for a bug like this really is a tedious task!
The integration of facebook is pretty well done, unless you have a name that is so common that there are other people you know on facebook that have the same name. In this case, messages and profile pictures of the other people of your name are displayed as _your_ messages and profile pictures. Guess some developer decided to ditch unique IDs and go for names instead - another bug!
Talking about bugs: most apps that I really got used to on other platforms are sub par or not available at all on Windows Phone. Remember The Milk, evernote, spotify, rdio or even facebook - those apps are in no way comparable to their counterparts on iOS or Android in terms of features and stability.
And then there are a lot of other, small things:
- No tethering (ok, this is supposed to come in a future update)
- no image scale-down possible when sending via e-mail
- mute does not mute all sounds
- no ABC-bar in contacts list, you have to search or scroll a thousand times to find a contact
- Marketplace is slow and often inresponsive. Is there a way to list the apps I have bought? I have not found such an option
- battery runtime: though much better after last update, it is still tough to get through an entire day
- Once you install many apps (like I do) you will start to miss folders or other means to organize your smart tiles and the application list - a general problem of Windows Phone.
I have to admit that some of the trouble is certainly due to the fact that I use google services instead of Exchange, which might yield a better experience on Windows Phone. Then again, this phones' target audience is more likely to use free google services than Exchange.
That being said, I still like the phone, but it has way to many quirks to be a reliable business phone. I really hope Nokia and Microsoft get these wrinkles straightened out because the interface surely has a lot of potential.
Until then I will stick to my ugly Android that gets the job done ;-)
Cheers,
Dan

My theory is that since carriers hate tethering, this is part of Nokia's strategy to entice carriers into selling more Lumia devices during the initial launch period. Delivering an update (much, much later?) is a compromise to appease users who need tethering.

Marketplace sucks. The only way to get a list of apps that you have bought (and re-install them) is through the www.windowsphone.com site. Lots of app reviews aren't shown either.

Yes, but how do you quickly jump to, say, "M". Aaah, I found it: double tap on a label and you will get the entire alphabet! So this one can be scratched due to user dumbness

@oskariunit: By the way: The alphabet in the contact list is nice but also has the bug that the first tap onto a letter does not open the alphabet-list if you have been scrolling the contact list before. Probably the first tap just sets to focus to the button and the second tap registers. One tap suffices if you open contacts and directly tap onto a letter without scrolling before, as the default focus is obviously on those letters.
And no, this is not user dumbness but a bug.
I today received the ZTE Open C and I have to say it is a wonderful phone. There is one really irritating thing about it though. It is branded.
Whenever you lock the phone instead of displaying the wallpaper it displays the blue wallpaper of the Firefox, no matter what wallpaper you are using.
So for the people who know Firefox OS well: Is there a way to change this?
what release is running on ZTE Open C?
could you do a short review of the device, and more importantly, where did you get yours so early?
ZTE is sending out the ebay orders starting May 23rd...
not that i am interested in buying one, as i have the 1st Open, and i'll wait for better spec devices like the Alcatel Fire S,
but i guess it would be interesting for one or other here?

not that i am interested in buying one, as i have the 1st Open, and i'll wait for better spec devices like the Alcatel Fire S,
but i guess it would be interesting for one or other here?

I saw the pre-order for it on Ebay on the 3rd of April, so the ship date for me was a lot earlier. It wasn't even linked on Google I just searched for it on Ebay and by chance it was there! Firefox OS 1.3 made by ZTE, and so far it's very good, apart from the problem I have mentioned. I would like to note that there is an app on the phone called "Software Updater" with "Update Device" "Update History" and "Update Frequency" options... I believe this means they are going to keep this updated. I'm using my ZTE Open for testing, and my ZTE Open C for main use (because of the larger screen)
Google ZTE Open C to find the ebay page, all the info is there, I would review it but I've only had it for a day so far
yeah, i would not bet on them supporting this one longer.
as it seems the Open is not supported anymore.
they don't answer questions about this.
Mozilla does not really answer questions about this.
so that is in my book a pretty good sign they wont support it.
lame.
still on MDN as a "developer" device.
how on earth should you "develop" if you can't update the frekking phone because the HAL is missing for newer builds?
thanks a bunch! 80 Euro wasted on a piece of crap phone that isn't worth more than 30USD to begin with.
being "early adopter" sure doesn't pay off here.
you get crappy hardware for a high price.
i pitty all the people who actually bought a geeksphone keon for 150USD (same low hw specs as the Open)
enough rambling, hope to see your review soon?

I'm sorry to dissapoint, but after using it for a few days there isn't enough different to review. There's the Firefox OS 1.3 which we know well, basically no lag at all and everything opens really quickly. The keyboard allows you to type really fast and still be accurate (this could be due to the 4 inch screen). The speaker is a little bit better and is on the front so you don't need to turn the phone around if you're listening to music, there is an update app on the phone which guarentees updates. The update option through the settings has been removed. It comes with a few of what I can only assume are ZTE's wallpapers but none of them have a logo or anything and most are quite good.
My only problem with the phone is that the lock screen never and will never display your wallpaper. It always shows the blue firefox wallpaper even if yours is different. I emailed ZTE and they said the "Firefox System" added it not them which I assume means the official Firefox OS 1.3 carrier build.
I hope this changes, because it's ugly. Other than that the phone is really good.

Fist i was really excited when my lumia 930 was delivered, fired it up and just wow!!! Nice built quality, great design, love 8.1, a little chunky and heavy but mehh i can live with it!
The first few days i was flabbergasted about performance, resolution, media playback, photo quality i loved every moment of it,butttttttt after a few days i would
Try to share a vid or pic with whatsapp for example...it constantley fails,ok ill use we transfer for that no problem,........browser doenst fully support some sites so we transfer didnt work that wel,
The lack of a good file explorer was greatly disapointing considering its a windows phone....come on man its freaking windows!!!! And i was hoping on a file tree similar like win7 pc
No movie playback app only the one provideed by microsoft that doesnt let you skip per secend but per some what seconds....i mean...ftw and i constantly have to cut/paste to let the movies be visible in it or use a 3d party app (moliplayer) and paste vid in my camera roll......
I really like the OS and how it handles some things butt the lack of good coded and full fuetured apps is a realllll deal breaker for me,so i factory reset the lumia and threw it in a corner and back on my xperia z again until win10 drops and hopefully the development on the apps will be much greater so that every fueture and so on will work great,
Sorry to spam u guys butt if you guys have some good tips for me i will be truely be greatfull, i know i have android in my blood since it launched so im a little spoiled fueture wise
Sorry if i posted wrong thread please move to proper thread and let me know please

Wait for windows 10. All I can say. If that doesn't excite you , or provide the features that you need, then go back to android. But Microsoft is really pushing it to new heights. Wait and see as they say
If only app development would be more suitible, likr apps that work better that would make a real diffetence
Edit
Does someone know a launchdate on wp10? Even microsoft is dodgy on it

You and me Both Bro...
Man I completely agree with you. Jay here, and my story is the same as yours , I have been a long time fan WinMO for like a decade str8, then i hopped on the Green machine for a long while, and about 5 months ago I switched to WP8 with the HTC One M8 for Windows just for something new ,and I feel like I have a Palm Pre in my hand, the OS is super stable and smooth, But there just no one backing it, Even HTC is discontinung their own apps, Its just sad, Everyone is jumping ship for this platform, and I cant wait to go back to android in about a month, Summed up in 2 words Lesson Learned!
I have the l930 and a HTC m8 (android) but the only one I have in use is the l930. All apps I need are available for Windows and the system experience is much more polished and fluid. Apps are sometimes not good as on Android but its enough for me.
Pictures taken with the 930 are the best pics I have ever seen on phone.
Much much better as on my m8...
If ms can close the app situation windows can really be a competitor.
Please remember this is my opinion and experience and yours can be different
Wauwwww how the hell does microsoft not be a shamed of this outlook app and office hub sjizzle i have a pdf i need to download and send forward,i "downloaded" it but i cant find it anyware on my phone only in a stupid pdf reader and must upload it to onedrive and share a link in a email?omg microsoft please,if you guys holding on to this kind of coded apps and dont give people some freedom with files ect. Ect. Then it will all be over soon with wp i think

By the way I have been using WP for many years, yes there are still some missing apps, but if you look around there are always good alternatives (in some cases better than original in fact) are available. I only recently sold my Lumia 930 as I already have Lumia 1520 as my daily driver, and couple of other Lumias at home.
a) I can share pics on Whatsapp no issue at all, so I'm not sure what may be the issue at your end. I'd recommend uninstall this app, and then reinstall and see whether this helps.
b) There are few very good file explorers, apart from Microsoft's own File Explorer app, lately I've been using Briefcase and it seems to be a very decent alternative.
c) I've used beta version VLC for many months, and recently it has been released for all WP users, so you can download it from the store. Also Windows 10 for Phones will support MKV right out of the box.
Other good alternatives for: a) MetWeets > Twitter official app; b) 6tag > Instagram official app etc.
If you need any further clarification regarding some app or its alternative, just ask away.
Good luck.
How do i let whatsapp download videos to the video folder so the vid is visible in vlc without copy/paste it
