I seem to be having extremely spotty data connections and I'm trying to determine if its something I messed up, or a software issue/bug, or just crappy reception where I live.
To start, AT&T is known for having kinda ****ty service in this area (western Kentucky).
Wifi always works flawlessly.
I'm using the i777
CyanogenMod 7 nightly build 02152012 from the twiceweekly thread by sam3000
KH7 modem included with rom I believe.
Siyah kernel v2.6.12
Init.doh scripts (currently version 0.3.8 without the nameserver changes, but that didn't make a difference)
And of course I've gone through the settings app and set a lot of things the way I want them (don't think I jacked it up, but maybe).
Anything there seem abnormal? Any of those items have known issues I haven't read about? I can provide extra details if needed.
I'm honestly not sure what's up. I'm thinking about replacing my sim card, its relatively new, looks exactly like this

which if I'm correct is a 4g LTE capable similar card (I know the phone is only h+, but my point is this should be one of the newer generations of similar card, if not the newest, I got it in Dec 2010).
Any help or suggestions to rule out issues or solve the problem?

I'd say try flashing other modems that are cm7 compatible. Some of them work better than others in different parts of the states. There's a thread of them ready to flash for cm7 in this forum. Just search if that doesn't work post again and hopefully someone can help you trouble shoot more thoroughly than I can

I actually just downloaded a bunch of cm7 modems, forgot to mention I didn't have an issue about 2 weeks ago and the only thing that has changed is the version numbers on the software I've been using. No extra software or scripts added or removed in that time.

I did just grab a new sim card. Ill be testing over the next few days (will probably know in the next few hours).
AT&T in my area works terribly indoors for more than just me (but does work). My issue persisted outdoors too. I could still sometimes get connections but I've been having a very high failure rate tgr past two weeks (did not have as much of a problem before).

Test the different modems for a bit and see if they help. I found big differences. Has the weather been particularly bad? Combined with bad coverage that could do it. Let me know about the modems. Hopefully its that easy fix.

So I've seen a post asking how we can google now on the amaze...and apparently we need to wait till source code is released or something?
There wasn't really a much clear answer to it so I'd like to ask; what's stopping the amaze currently from having Google Now? Shouldn't it have been included with the leak we got?

It works on my amaze, no reboot required. Just follow the instructions to rename and install apk.
I can verify that it works but very buggy. I'm running Speed Rom 6.

I believe so. I'm running ARHD which is basically stock sense with some tweaks and it runs fine on my device. Click here for the link. It seems they've updated it to include the voice search functions. I'm gonna try that out!
mostly works from what ive seen with my stock rooted, being not in america it has issues with location stuff unless thats been changed in the last version that got released?

Absolutely does. I have stock 4.0.3, Sense 3.6, rooted, and Google Now is working. I installed it yesterday afternoon. It actually viewed my Google Maps searches from earlier in the day (I was logged into my Google account while searching) and it started giving me traffic and weather for trips to those locations. It's still collating data, as it didn't give me weather and traffic to work this morning, but the instructions say that most functions take a few days, at least. I can already tell it's going to be an invaluable resource. (Screenshot is of the bus system around my building)
As a test of both the cards and the basic functionality, I decided to look up the distance from the Earth to the Sun. (The Astronomical Unit). I wanted to see how similar the search function is, and if it'll start giving me cards based upon my searches.
FYI: I wasn't able to just install the .apk file - I had to rename it like the instructions suggest.

I downloaded this but I have to say (yes I know everything won't work from day one) I am impressed, but my problem is that I want the voice search. That's what I was looking forward to the most. Does anyone know what exactly you need to do to get the full JB voice search done?

So I just updated to deck's Oct. 10 build and then applied some init.d and build.prop mods from the pimp my ROM package (it was featured on the portal if you want to check it out) and now my 3g doesn't work! I get WiFi and everything else works fine. Its just data. This is my only phone and I can't afford a new one if this one is busted. I've tried reflashing the ROM and the tweaks, but nothing worked. Any and all help is welcome. I can even send you my build.prop if you need to look at it. I'm s-on as well. I flash kernels with Flash image GUI if it means anything.

Have you tried flashing without tweaks and seeing if that works? If not I would flash back to sense and reprovision the phone, I don't exactly remember the process of the top of my head
Do a fully clean install and see if that helps. Narrow your possibilities. I lost 3G when I updated the kernal the other day and had to S-OFF and update the whole firmware to get it back to locking onto 3G. Do you at least get 1x like I did?
I did a clean install of the ROM, and nothing. Does re-provisioning involve ruu? I don't even have 1x. It just says searching for signal on my lock screen where it should say sprint. Its late where I'm at, so maybe something with the tower? That's just wishful thinking. Here's what my lockscreen and signal icon look like:

Well now I know and that's something to remember, there is another one that does force a reset. Dont recall what it was though

So I got my msl. I entered the code and it showed some information. Msid was among that. I went to menu and hit reset. My phone rebooted and my data still doesn't work... I can't even make phone calls its just got the signal bars with an x over it.

Yea, I flashed it on a previous build and it was fine. Then I updated to the latest build, but flashed pimp my rom in the same go ( noob mistake on my part, I know) and now no matter what rom or version of that rom I use, I don't get signal at all. I called sprint after reprovisioning didn't work. They tried everything, and now they want me to take it in for repairs :/

I've decided I'm fine with that. An uprooted phone that I can use is better than a rooted one with no signal. It would be different if I had another phone
Does anyone have this app working 100% on an AOSP-based ROM and if so please describe your setup or steps you took to get there (ROM, kernel, dev options etc)?
I hate knowing the only way I can play this awesome game is by flashing a Sense ROM.

Well I can get it to install and play the first race just fine if I choose not to restore my data from TIBU. Sometimes I can play a few races more too. After a reboot though it will load up all the way to the point to where the next race should be then it chokes and completely freezes the phone making me hold the power button to reboot.
I've tried it on Deck's kernel, komodo (current), and whatever one comes with a CMX nightly download. I've tried multiple combinations of performance/dev options to no avail. I've tried swapping mount points and I've tried moving the app to SD/internal.
Nothing but a Sense ROM makes it playable 100% and I hate Sense.

To be honest,I have the same problem using aosp gb with any kernel. Some apps will randomly lock my device even with the screen awake which forces me to hard reboot

I've got it working 100% now. I flashed the latest cmx nightly and the only dev option enabled is SD card debugging.
I have no clue if it would work if I went back to an older ROM. Maybe it was a user error of some sort?

Which has a newer Baseband than my phone here:
I'm not sure if it has to do with the ROMs coming with different radios, or my phone is just off? If so, it could really explain some issues I have been having with signal and data. (Currently I only get one or two bars of signal and no data, as where with my old phone I could get 4g at home and always had it in town.)

You have older radios from the update to ICS about a year ago. Roms don't normally contain radio updates, you need to update them by flashing in hboot.
So I don't need to relock or change recoveries?

You wouldnt notice much of a difference switching radios unless you are really out of date. That could be caused by a few different things. Could be the phone itself, it could be the way the rom is reporting signal, it could be different things. Have you tried a different rom to see if it makes any difference?
I have tried Infection, Pacman and Tron, all reporting the same. Just crazy that with my old phone I would have 4g where this is lucky to get data at all.

Back when we first got ICS, many people had reception issues caused by corrupted radio partitions. To fix it, they had to run the ruu, then do a factory reset in hboot, before flashing a custom recovery. It's worth a shot if you are desperate.
Well I have signal enough to send messages, and in town I will get 3g, but i used to get 4g. Once I do the factory reset can I restore from a nandroid? And just to make sure, ruu is what you flash by putting on the root of your SD card and booting into hboot right? Do you have a link for the file I need? Thanks for all the help!

You should be okay to restore after the ruu because a nandroid doesn't affect the radios. I don't have a link, but there are several other threads with links in them.

I'm in Baltimore, MD and already on my gs4 i had this problem where sometimes my 4G will stop working and on the data activity indicator arrows only the up arrow will be on (like this

And the only way i get it working again is toggling airplane mode... This happens every 20 min or so, and it is extremely annoying.
Is anyone familiar with this problem? And is there anything i can do?

If i had it on my s4 and you have 3 different phones all with the same problem it's probably t mobile, and like the previous commenter said, the nexus 5 also had this problem

I have this too, here i thought i was deleting too much bloat from the system. But apparently not. IMO, i think its Android 4.4.2 and T-Mobile. I had this issue happen on all 4.4.2 ROMs even on my S4. It didn't happen until i flashed the 4.4.2 ROMs. So I think T-Mobile may have made a mistake in their coding when making the update. Lets see what the next update will bring. I wonder how we could even bring up this issue to them because i guarantee you they will claim its the device.
Don't remember because i have been on 4.4.2 forever, and i can't check because theres no other option besides for buggy aosp, but there have been a few updates within 4.4.2 like NF6 which added VoLTE...
Btw if this is a common problem something should be done... This really f*king sucks

Its definitely T-Mobile. A T-Mobile rep told me the issue might be LTE, and to try turning it to 4G only, seemed to help me.

I only have 4g where I live and it does it a lot. It actually only stops doing it when on lte. And yes something should be done about this. This is awful. Can't even stream anything because of it.

I have the problem on lte and hspa and they are both really fast when they are working and it usually won't stop in the middle of something, but when i click something new it randomly stops working alot
