There's one on the market. I'm not a fan of the HTC keyboard myself. Just search gingerbread keyboard on market. Think it's listed as keyboard from Android 2.3 free app.

[Q] Would the Samsung keyboard work on another phone?

My girlfriend is thinking of getting the Moto Defy when it comes out but loves Swype and the Samsung Keyboard. I know she will be able to download Swype but would an APK of the Sammy install?
There are much better options out there, has she tried better keyboard or anything else really? Idk about the port.

Why would you want to install the Samsung APK instead of just downloading Swype?
I was wondering about the samsung keyboard apk, not the samsung apk of swype.

Need Stock 2.2 Android keyboard

I had an evo with the .apk and tried installing it. Constant forecloses. Anyone seen the app functioning?

I wanted the stock keyboard and someone told me about "smart keyboard" which has the android/sense/touchwiz keyboards and seems to be pretty identical to the stock one... but if you want the real stock one for whatever reason it'll need to be ported

Unzip the file and install... this is not a flashable zip. A use APP Installer from Market.
Make sure you install both .apk's HTC IME and Clicker.
ENJOY
It won't install the clicker apk. It just says application not installed. I'm not rooted it that makes a dif.

Clicker.apk may already system installed. Have you installed the HTC IME and rebooted? After that go to settings/keyboard and tick the enabler.
???? My guess.

The htc ime installed just fine. But I was looking for the stock android kb not the htc one. Also the htc ime is close to identical as the preinstalled one.

This seems to be a modified HTC touch input keyboard. It's pretty nice but definitely looking for the stock froyo keyboard.
Wasn't easy but I found it. Stock Android like on the N1. Froyo.
Install ISSUE... I can only get it to install after removing Swype and the HTC IME Multitouch Droid 2 keyboard I have installed. Maybe someone can work it out???

Just dowload Better keyboard app, and then choose skin from the market: Better Keyboard Skin-Android. .
Only thing it doesn't do is the slide up to expose numbers.
Search "cedime". It has same look as Android keyboard and it has Chinese input option.

(APP) Gingerbread keyboard

I found a Gingerbread keyboard app that works flawlessly on the Defy. Follow the link;
http://www.appbrain.com/app/keyboard-from-android-2-3/com.moo.android.inputmethod.latin.free
Update: works on 2.2 fw, not sure about 2.1. If anyone can test to confirm?

just tried on 2.1, sorry to confirm, doesnt work on 2.1 (not able to find it on the market -> install it :/)
There is another Gingerbread keyboard apk that works on 2.1 fw that I was using before this one. By Hotaru, it has a few sizing issues, but works well enough. Follow the link;

I tried the Gingerbread type keyboard, it's work well but, in my humble opinion, the characters is very small and hard to read (I'm 43 yers old and my eyes know this fact )
I find another keyboard, much more "visible":
iPhone Keyboard Emulator - free on the market
PS: Sorry for my poor english!
Mh, what exactly are the major differences? Why do you think its that much better than Eclair/Froyo keyboard?
Hey does the gingerbreadkeyboard work on t mobile froyo?
Yes, it does.
Update: works on 2.2 fw

Agree, the keyboard isn't as good as the multitouch one.

[Q] HTC Amaze Telus Touch Input

Hi, I really would love to flash the new quick sence rom for my HTC Amaze but I don't want to lose the awesome stock keyboard, it's the only keyboard that I found with a decent Canadian French dictionary and SWYPE!!
Here is my question: Could I just back up the app (which app is it) with an app such as titanium backup or is there a more complicated way to get this keyboard app as a .apk that I could install on any android phone (or the some one but with quick sence )
I'm all new in these forums so take it easy on me

That ROM already has the stock keyboard. Typing from it now!

The one from telus or the one from t-mobile? Do you have Canadian French keyboard?
I see what you're saying now..it has just the stock Tmobile keyboard on it, sorry.
Ok so the first question is answered, I can't just flash the quick sence rom and hope to have the same keyboard.
Now how could I back up my keyboard app with the language library?
Will a normal full back up from titanium backup work? can I just restaure all my backup after I flashed Quicksence or sence 3.5?

[Q] Android keyboard on a rooted phone

Is it possible to install the stock android keyboard? I don't like the the samsung keyboard but don't want to install a custom ROM. Thanks.
Download the Swype beta msn. It's free indefinitely. It's the best keyboard on the market

He said stock android, not swype.. And swype being the "best" is all opinion. I cant stand swype. To me swiftkey 3 is the best
You can (with no root) just sideload the .apk of the android keyboard as well.
LatinIME.apk is the file.
