[Q]Unlock 1.5 with new RUU? - HTC EVO 3D

So I'm Hboot 1.5... I've been running MIUI mostly, but I wanted to update my radios. I unrooted and then did the newest RUU. My radio is now updated.
Now I'm trying to re-root, but the Unlock_code.bin isn't doing anything. Supposedly I need to be on an older RUU in order to use HTC's unlock? but... Wouldn't that undo my radio update?
So how do I get back to root/unlock while keeping the newest radio?
Thanks

I'd Also like to know about this.

Did you relock and run xhausx's FULL 2.17 RUU.zip? I was rooted on 651.3, that's what I did to get 651.5 update, unlocked with my original .bin file and it worked. Details / Links are in the Guide/flashing notes in my signature.

[Q] hboot and new firmware question

I am going to flash the new ICS leak (build number 3.14.605.5) in hboot. after i do that, do i have to flash the new stock 2.25 hboot from superchilpills post here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614366
any help clarifying that would be great. i am s-off and I have been flashing roms and everything just fine, the only thing I am still a little unsure about is the hboot thing. any help would be great, thanks a lot guys
If your going to do a full ruu then running the 2.25 hboot I have posted is redundant
My suggestion is if you want to stick with the ruu and not a custom Rom then just ruu
If you want to retain the Rom you are on then only flash the one I have posted as it won't affect what Rom you are running

Hey guys, I have a similar question, but just want to be explicitly clear. I am S-OFF but then ran the full RUU for the newest 3.14, so my hboot is now the 2.25. It's not allowing me to flash back a custom recovery, so I presume I have to revert the hboot to 2.21 at least. Is it as simple as following your post posted above, downloading the ICS 2.21 hboot, renaming, and flashing in bootloader? thanks
EDIT: Nevermind, didn't notice at first it had relocked after running the RUU. Successfully re-unlocked, then pushed recovery like normal. Back in business.

Unroot to get OTA ICS?

Hello everyone
Sorry for a newb question, but, how can I unroot so that I can take all the OTA updates and get the official ICS update from Sprint/HTC. I dont care about losing root as I will be replacing the phone come October. I just want it back to stock and running on stable factory ICS.
I currently am Revolutionary HBOOT-1.40.110 / S-OFF / RADIO 1.06.00.1216.
Thanks!
Well you can first do a search, as this has been answered probably at least a hundred times on here. After you do that, you would realize you need to run a stock RUU to relock the bootloader.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194053
you just have to find the zip file but follow those steps did it a while back
Is there an unroot method for hboot 1.5 with s-off? I used Juopunutbear to get s-off.
I relocked the bootloader then ran the stock RUU and that did the trick

Thanks guys. I ran the RUU, then did all the OTA updates. Im now on official stock ICS, bootloader 1.58, relocked, and still S-OFF
is it possible to unroot but keep s-off? i want to sell my phone but i would prefer it to be kinda pseudo-unrooted so i can easily revert back to s-off. I should probably just completely unroot though.
Is possible to reunlock the 1.58 hboot after we take the OTA using HTC dev method?

Hboot 1.19 - Return to Stock

So the latest update totally screwed up my stock evo. Sprint was super unhelpful in trying to replace it, so instead of waiting for them I rooted the phone and installed MeanRom. Now I have an unlocked rooted evo with hboot 1.19. It still have a lot of freezing and rebooting problems so I'd like to return it to Sprint for a new unit. I hear that trying to downgrade using an older RUU with hboot 1.19 will brick the phone. Is there a safe way of returning my evo to stock so that Sprint takes it back? Thank you for helping this noob out.
Did you do a NANDROID backup before flashing the ROM? If so, start by restoring your phone to it's previous state.
You cant downgrade. It wont brick it, it just wont work
Relock the bootloader and flasht the 1.19 RUU. Thats your only option for unrooting

Thanks, this is what I'd like to do. Is there a 1.19 RUU around yet? Does anyone have a link?

[Q] HBOOT and Unlocking

So I recently got a hold of a rezound and it came with S-OFF and an unlocked 2.25 HBOOT. I have a couple of questions about upgrading:
1. Does keeping the HBOOT unlocked have any benefits besides extra fastboot commands (which I'll never use)?
2. How can I upgrade to the 2.27 HBOOT with my phone's current status (unlocked with S-OFF).
3. Are there any benefits to having the unlocked 2.27 HBOOT that vinylfreak released over the stock HBOOT?
Thanks in advance for the help. I've been paging through this forum and there is a lot of fragmented information floating around that's both new and old so it can be hard to make sense of it all.

1. You can flash kernels in recovery and not HBOOT, you can also install a different splash screen logo (downside. you can brick the phone because there is zero security now. "S" in on or off means security)
2. you can update the HBOOT to 2.27 without any problems by downloading one from the develop section and it wont hurt the phone. link
3. HBOOT 2.27 was meant for the global update. if you dont plan on leaving the U.S. or use the phone for gsm then there isnt a need to update.

Can I run it with S-OFF and unlocked? I read somewhere that if you use an official RUU on an unlocked HBOOT that you could brick your phone. Will running the RUU re-lock the bootloader after upgrading? Thanks for the help
You can't ever brick your phone running an ruu unless its a bad ruu. To ruu though.. your phone must be relocked using fastboot. What you're thinking of is if you s-on with a modified hboot then you brick. You're good though.
1. Relock with fastboot oem lock
2. Run RUU
3. Honestly there's not much reason to unlock again

OK so unlocked and locked boot loaders mean you can use fast boot commands. If you ruu to the newest you will loose fast boot commands unless you unlock or flash an engineering hboot.
If you ever wanted to update after you have unlocked, you must relock the boot loader before updating. Ie never ruu on an unlocked hboot

Don't bother updating hboot, it will net you nothing. I've been running 2.25 hboot with the new radios since the 4.03.605.2 leak. 0 issues and runs VERY well. Also unlocked on a patched/eng hboot means nothing, can run the same commands the same way with it being locked. Although a stock hboot may need to be unlocked to get access to some of those commands, of which will probably be of no use to you anyways.
@Syn
S-off shouldnt need a re-lock/unlock to update ANYTHING in hboot with a ph98img.

[Q] ATT HTC ONE touch screen doesn't work on stock rom

I upgrade to latest firmware and hboot for the international 4.2.2 ROM. Everything works fine.
Now, the OTA arrived and in order to apply OTA for enabling new LTE band, I need to go back to stock. So, i download the stock ROM and flash. After boot up, touch screen doesn't work.
I tried to revert it back to 1.4.4 hboot/firmware (not AT&T i think). Still doesn't work. Anyone know where I can get the stock firmware and applied? Try to avoid the full RUU if possible.
Thanks.
I haven't seen anyone post a AT&T firmware flashable zip. Most likely they stayed on stock firmware that came with the phone, like me, or they updated to 2.24 firmware.
RUU might be your only choice. But in order to RUU, you need the 1.44 HBOOT. If you're S-OFF, flash the 1.44 HBOOT first then run the RUU. If you're S-ON, you're stuck. RUU won't run because it can't bypass the security check of S-ON.

You are right. I have to use RUU to roll back to stock. At least, I got S-OFF to get back. Now, when checking update, didn't give me anything yet.
