flash back to 0.42 firmware using flashtool root it and then do a OTA update....your root will be preserved.......by the way rooting also voids your warranty

Please keep this section for development only. Thanks

I guess as the camera is diff, the libs will cause issues. Will not suggest to take risk.
All the old root methods are not working, looks like all old exploits are closed in 2.3.4. Looking for an exploit to root. Lets see. If anyone already rooted Neo v, please share.
I totally agree that it is a risk and I would not do it because I understand very little about the subject android.
but it is only a guess.
The issue is very large libraries because I do not understand

[Q] Xperia Mini 4.0.2.A.0.62 root ???

My Xperia mini has official 4.0.2.A.0.62 firmware and I want to root it
I searched for this in this site and I found this way :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346198
I like this way because it's easy and safe without any complicated steps like flashing
But it didn't work with this firmware
I want to root because the screen is too dark and I want to disable the light sensor of the device.
I'm new in this site and I want the easiest way to do this....
Anyone can help???
Thanks...
(Sorry for my bad english )
EDIT:
Finally my phone is rooted
I downgraded the firmware from wotanserver.com to 4.0.2.A.0.42
It's easy !
Then I rooted my phone by this way:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1346198
Now It's rooted
Special thanks to you guys
There is no way to root .62 for now.
Unless you unlock your bootloader.

First unlock the bootloader the SE way.
Then flash the rage kernel with flash tool and you are automatically rooted.

Select .42 firmware
and your phone will be flashed to selected firmware
But you must back up your data

Sony Ericsson WT19i ICS rooting

I am using Sony Live with Walkman WT19i
Android version 4.0.4
Build Number 4.1.B.0.431
I have a few questions --
1 - What is difference between unlocking bootloader and rooting? Which one to do first? can one be done without other?
2 - if I want to root my device, what method should i use?
Root can be done only 1 way. 2 ways if you unlock bootloader.
If you unlock bootloader you to install custom rom and custom kernel. But it also means that you void your warranty. Rooting phone with unlocked bootloader is little bit easier than with locked one.
If you have locked bootloader and you want to keep it that way (and keep the warranty), you would first need to downgrade to Gingerbread (version .42 or .58) using flashtool, root it with Zergrush, and upgrade it to ICS using the flashtool (and keeping in mind NOT to erase data when flashing).

Welcome on the forum
First of all: please post questions in q&a section, not in general. This will keep the forums clean!
Then: You can try updating using PC Companion (that doesn't work according to what you said) or Sony Update Service, if both programs don't work, download the stock rom (it's a .ftf) for your xperia active (Android 4.0.4: 4.1.B.0.587) and use flashtool to flash it :good:
