European price of the HTC EVO 3D !

Hi all,
I don't know if it is official or not but the evo 3d cost €619.99 at Expansys.com (without contract, sim free).
Look at here:
http://www.expansys.fr/htc-evo-3d-black-219719/
Edit:
There is also a UK price (£499.99) at Amazon.co.uk:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/HTC-Evo-Sim...QL4Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1309631288&sr=8-2
Nothing new. The dutch price is 560 euro at cheapest.
Date: august 5th 2011...
That's the norm over there most Europeans buy phones with no contract and pick their own carrier.
Hello,
Indeed the Carriers do not subsidize the prices of Cell Phones in Europe. They do have a far greater selection of Phones thanks to all Countries all being on GSM.
In addition, all Consumer Electronics cost a great deal more in Europe. It is even worse in Australia.
Cheers,
JJ

New TF700KG with S4 Qualcomm chip likely to be Europe only version

just like title states. it was revealed the tf-700 with LTE data connection will likely only be a Europe only version. unless picked up by a carrier here in the states. Asus might not want to deal with carrier headaches here in U.S. for a tablet. so for now, its a Europe only version. meaning only wifi version of TF-700 with Tegra3 chipset will be available in the U.S. make sure to watch the video. He states in video also this version may never see the light of day in U.S. and states reason why. if there is a slight chance it would come, At&T would be only carrier which could push it. seemed like that S4 version seemed a little laggy compared to tegra3 version when he was swiping home screen. or seemed slowly than mines at least. it looks nice though.

Thanks for the video. I like how he mentioned the antenna window and said GPS should work. On a side note, I'd rather have Tegra 3.
Why you prefer Tegra 3?

I'm really excited to see if this one has less problems than the prime. Or how customers will react to it. I don't really have problems with my prime but people will always find something to nag about

Orange/T-Mobile (Everything Everywhere is just a stupid name so I refuse to use it) will be deploying LTE in limited quantities in certain parts of the UK this year. As for the others, the spectrum auctions will be held this year, so hopefully we'll have service by Xmas or early next year. They'll probably start deployment on the 2.6Ghz band first as there are some interference issues with digital TV that need to be resolved on the 800Mhz band. In any case, I want to buy a tablet that is future-proof, and this will do nicely on HSPA+ until then.
As for the US, the issue there is that carriers (unlike here) don't discount their plans at all even if you choose to go SIM-only. This means customers always go for a carrier-subsidized device, which gives them the opportunity to change specs and load up the device with their own crappy bloatware as they see fit. Unlike Samsung, Asus seem to have little appetite for the US market's BS.

Agreed.
But seeing how the launch of the TF201 went it wouldn't surprise me one bit if ASUS were foolish enough to only release this where LTE is not even widely available (and isn't going to be for quite some time).

Headaches? If VZW or AT&T pick it up the only headache will be hundreds of thousands of additional sales. Even Acer sells a HSPA+ device on AT&T. The only reason Asus hasn't is because none of their devices allowed them to work with a U.S. carrier before. Can you imagine how popular the Infinity would be with the corporate market with the keyboard dock? Like the value-priced TF300 this is actually one of Asus' better strategies.

Again, "he" is a U.S. reporter speculating. Anything he's "stating" is his guess. If they only planned to sell it unlocked (no carrier support) it would have been HSPA+. Even the retail-only versions of Samsung's newly announced tablets aren't LTE and they've already sold millions of Qualcomm LTE tablets through the carriers.
Based on this article, where do you think a manufacturer with an LTE-chipped device would intend to sell it in 2012?
US Dominant as Global 4G LTE Leader
Sherin Matthew on October 14, 2011
According to a newly released report form Pyramid Research, the United States now accounts for the largest number of 4G LTE subscriptions in the world for this year. There have been twenty- six global major carriers that have launched LTE networks, but only three of them account for 47% of LTE connections in 2011. All of them are US carriers- Verizon Wireless, Metro PCS and AT&T. Industry analysts have estimated that US carriers will be responsible for about half the global LTE subscriptions this year, around 7 million of the 14.9 million subscribers will be associated with one of the 3 major networks.
Verizon Wireless’ rapid deployment of its LTE network is a major reason of US dominance in the LTE market. Verizon first launched its 4G LTE network on December 5th, 2010 and the company announced this Tuesday that it would offer LTE coverage to an aggregate total of 178 US cities by November 17th of this year. This encompassing coverage of the US with LTE service accounts for the majority of American LTE subscribers.
Pyramid also says that US sales of handheld devices embedded with LTE radios should surpass 5.4 million units in 2011- making up 71% of LTE devices that are sold globally. Strong demand in the US for mobile broadband services coupled with emerging companies like Clearwire and Sprint offering LTE service in 2012 should swell the number of US and global subscribers to LTE , further strengthening the US’ position as the global leader in LTE subscriptions.

It's lag city, even at 8.9". Tegra 3 is definitely the way to go outside of Dual A15 SoC's.

going off of stuff said in video. not my own made up assumptions or scenarios like you are. so until proof is shown otherwise to disapprove what video says, then the video stands. enough rumor and speculation as it is. person in video more reliable source than someone who never seen or even touched device. I thought it was odd also but that's what they said. we will see. plus seen that same statement said on other sites but didn't bother linking them. nice try buddy. you get an A for effort though
plus I'm not here to get into yet another debate/useless flame war. one good thread already got shut down last night from silliness and unnecessary arguments. we will just see what pans out. what I stated was from the video itself. not anything made up or assumed. get a grip, I think you love trying to disapprove people or throw wild spins on something. take a chill pill. not that serious buddy. maybe it was just your delivery of your post that's off.
Wouldnt really care much for the 3g/4g LTE version cause I wouldnt want to pay an extra data plan which my phone already has. Plus with tethering I see no point, unless you dont have a phone with a data plan. But if the other posters are correct, either Asus is not doing their studies or the person in the video was fed or feeding some wrong data or assumptions.

So you think what a non-Asus spokesperson that just happens to be standing in their booth says isn't "made up assumption?" When a real Asus spokesperson said the TF700 had better wireless than the Prime at CES via a video you chose not to believe it. If that video wasn’t believable, why is this one?
Let's face it, you'd be happiest if Asus never built or sold another tablet than the Prime in the U.S. and you look for anything you can find that supports that point. I posted some supporting material that logically differs from what's casually referenced in the video for people to have another opinion to consider. Not everything is meant to be a personal attack against you or the Prime.

off contract SGS3 att?

Hey guys,
I have an Infuse right now I bought off craigslist because I dropped my captivate in the can. I later sold it for 250 after letting it sit in rice for a few weeks
I AM getting the SGS3.
I have 2 upgrades on ym ATT account coming available in the next two months, so I could get ATT to early upgrade me just fine.
Question is, ATT is only charging 550 off contract, so I am curious to know if I should buy on or off contract.
Also, people are saying the 2GB in the NA version is better than the quad core in the International, since I am considering off contract it would make sense to also consider itnernational.
I live in Tacoma wa, not sure if we have 4g but I get speeds way slower than my computer anyway so its not really a big deal.
Help
i'm definitely buying it off contract. this is an amazing price. same price as one x, and s3 is 100x better.
but then again i have no upgrades available atm.

Well contract or off contract it's up to you. You pay the same monthly fees either way.
I usually use up my upgrades and sell them off since i use international unlocked phones. Since you plan to keep it, makes sense you should go contract option. Dual core is no big deal since it is faster and much better dual core chip than the earlier dual cores.
And no seattle area doesn't have ATT lte yet so you won't get full 4g speeds but you will get good hspa speeds. Suppose to get LTE by end of the year.

So would you recommend buying the international SGS3 then? Expansys has it in stock for 694 + free shipping or 25 for overnight.
I could do that and get the 10$ unlimited data and save 20$ a month + be able to switch at will if I wanted
Just bought the international sgs3 from expansys, 722 shipped overnight Hope I made the cutoff to get it tomorrow!
Now off for accessory shopping...not getting any work done today, its monday though haha

Samsung to launch faster Galaxy S4 smartphone

SUWON, South Korea (Reuters) - Samsung Electronics Co plans to sell a variation of its flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone that will transmit data at nearly twice the normal speed, the head of its mobile business said on Monday.
J.K. Shin, also co-chief executive of the world's biggest technology firm by revenue, said the phone would be sold in South Korea as early as this month.
Samsung was in talks with several overseas carriers to take the phone, Shin told Reuters in an interview at Samsung's headquarters in Suwon, just south of Seoul. He declined to name the carriers.
"We'll be the first with the commercial launch of the advanced 4G version of the smartphone," Shin said.
The new S4 will use LTE-Advanced 4G technology, an upgrade from conventional 4G called LTE, or long term evolution. LTE-Advanced offers data transmission at up to twice the normal 4G speed. The phones will be powered by Qualcomm chips.
A movie download that takes 3 minutes with conventional 4G would take slightly more than 1 minute, Samsung said.
Samsung's shares have lost almost $20 billion since June 7 after analysts cut forecasts for Galaxy S4 sales by as much as 30 percent on industry data that showed the high-end smartphone market was getting saturated.
The same problem is hitting sales of the iPhone 5, made by Samsung rival Apple Inc.
Samsung's market capitalization is still a hefty $195 billion. Its shares closed down 0.2 percent on Monday.
Shin showed little concern about sales prospects for the S4, which hit stores in late April. The mobile devices division is the company's biggest profit generator.
"S4 sales remain strong. It's selling far stronger than the (Galaxy) S III ... and the new LTE-Advanced (4G) phone will be another addition to our high-end segment offerings that ensure healthy profit margins," Shin said.
Shin declined to provide forecasts for S4 sales. He said the new S4 would be slightly more expensive than the current one.
The South Korean firm hopes the addition of hardware offerings such as faster data transmission, along with its widely anticipated move to introduce models with unbreakable or flexible displays, will help it protect margin growth.
"As operators seek to provide more data-centric mobile services, I think this will become mainstream 4G technology globally in the coming years," Shin said.
Shin also said sales of Samsung's tablet products in the U.S. market jumped 3.3 times since it installed brand shops within Best Buy's stores in April, and is now considering expanding the format in Latin America and Britain. Samsung declined to name potential retailers.
EYES ON NETWORK BUSINESS
Having conquered the smartphone market that Apple virtually created with the iconic iPhone in 2007, Samsung is seeking to do the same in the network business with the booming 4G mobile equipment market, challenging bigger rivals such as Ericsson, China's Huawei and Nokia Siemens Networks.
Many countries need to upgrade mobile base stations to handle not just 3G but also 4G, or build them from scratch to support 4G connections.
Shin said the network gear market was one of Samsung's fastest growing businesses, mainly thanks to 4G equipment sales which had been rising more than 30 percent a year since 2010.
The new phone would help this part of Samsung's business, he said.
"Such technology leadership will set the pace for the competition and help us become a major player in the network gear market," Shin said.
Samsung has won some 4G network deals from all major South Korean carriers, U.S. Sprint Nextel Corp and Japan's KDDI Corp and Hutchison Whampoa's British unit, but it needs to crack China to close the gap with traditional vendors in the overall gear equipment market.
Shin said there had not been much progress in Samsung's push to penetrate China's 4G equipment market yet, but it was increasing investment in the country.
China's three mobile operators - China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom - plan to spend a combined 345 billion yuan ($56.3 billion) this year on network upgrades. That includes investment in 4G, which multiplies mobile broadband speeds by up to five times for users of iPhone and Galaxy phones compared with 3G.
Many analysts believe Huawei and ZTE Corp - already big suppliers of China Mobile since only 10-15 percent of 3G network contracts went to foreign vendors - will be winners, leaving others to fight for smaller bits of the pie.
Samsung hopes to show Chinese clients that 4G networks with new technology can be built faster and with lower operating costs.
Not to hate, but standard 4G still isn't completely commonplace yet.
Not sure if i should go after this or the note.

The GOT edition might be cool- if a 32GB version for Verizon
Samsung is being savvy with the S4 "LTE Advanced" edition, since that is an understatement in name. The Snap 800 is the newer fabrication process that runs cooler for cpu, gpu and the data radios. The Snap dual and 600 are the same fabrication and basic design family. The Snap 800 is the start of their new family. Seems deceiving calling it what they are. The Snap 600 to 800 is a bigger overall hardware jump than the Snap dual to the 600.
Perhaps S4 Big Kahuna, or S4 Mega are better and more relative names.

VZW S4 ==> TMO Nexus 6

Thought I'd share my experience, had an VZW S4 (GPE ROM via SS), and used the TMO Uncarrier deal to break it off with VZW. I live in Jacksonville, FL, and I never once got LTE at my home, or on I-95, now with TMO, I have yet to drop from LTE once.
Went into the TMO store with my family in St. Augustine, told them I wanted a Nexus 6 and to get rid of Verizon, the guys were great, they told me that a shipment of N6's had just come in an hour ago and that they had two left. I handed him my S4 (Which I decided to keep laying around for now ) and he switched the number to the Nexus 6 (Took maybe ~15 Minutes) while I signed the papers for the phone and a new Unlimited Data Plan (for $80 less than my family paid for 3 lines with VZW).
I then started messing with my N6 while the guys were finishing up, now, my father and mother had planned to keep their phones and just migrate to TMO, but after seeing my N6, my dad said he wanted one, so the guys went in the back and after another ~15 minutes, my dad was set as well. My mothers iPhone 5s took all of 2 minutes to switch the new SIM into it and activate. Then, on the spot, my dad asked for a 4th line and new Nano-SIM, then my dad popped the SIM into his old iPhone 5 and handed it to my little sister and said "Merry Christmas", made her whole year.
Literally, ditched Verizon, had the cancellation bills paid, and walked out with 4 lines (1 Line of Unlimited Data, 2 Lines of 4.5 GB Data, 1 Line of 2.5 GB Data) for $240 a month and it only cost $100 up front for two new N6's and 4 Nano-SIM cards. ALL WITHIN ~45 Minutes.
The N6 has been great, I've already rooted it, installed TWRP, and enabled double tap to wake, and other than that, this thing is near to perfect stock.
Moral of the story, to anyone wondering if they should take the plunge, do it, you will not regret it
this is why the world needs more t-mobile coverage. in my area, verizon and at&t seem to be the only networks that have decent coverage, tmo is just crap here. but its funny how in jacksonville, a major city (kinda, i mean i live in FL and like.. well they have an NFL team there they must be big), it's the other way around.

Unfortunately T-Mobile isn't an option in my area either. Hell, even Verizon coverage can be shaky sometimes. I've heard from loads of people who only just switched away from T-Mobile that their coverage was terrible in my area. If they can beef up coverage I'll change carriers in a heartbeat.
I tried to do this with a new iPhone 5S last summer. I lasted two days on T-Mobile in Boulder, CO. Sucked bawlz.
Returned the 5S, canceled the tmo line, bought a Galaxy S4 for less than half the price. Yeah, still on VZW, but the LTE unlimited keeps working.
