Hey everyone.
Ever since upgrading to .15 OTA, I've had issues with Google Maps. I have force killed the app, cleared the cache etc. But basically, the app will suddenly freeze up, then die, taking me back to the desktop.
I had no issues whatsoever with previous firmwares.
Has anyone else got this? Any fixes?

I faced the same issue yesterday! It loads maps and as soon as the GPS gets a fix, the GPS service and the maps just crash. Am on .15 firmware too.
I've tried with and without GPS enabled and it happens either way.
I' also uninstalled updates to use the ROM version and it's the same there.
However, I think I've just fixed it. I've done a reboot and it seems stable for now. I'll report back if it isn't fixed for good
I am having same issue. If I keep trying Google Maps, it eventually stops crashing.

Try rebooting the pad. it worked for me. Still going strong.

I had been on Bionix for quite a while when this first happened.
I, was playing a youtube video it said "video playback failed. Touch to retry." It never worked so I restarted the phone, and then it finally worked..... for a while.
I started noticing that when this happened (inevitably after a certain amount of uptime) my videos stores locally would stop playing as well, and so would my mp3's. A reboot would always fix it, but it certainly is annoying).
Fast forward to today, I'm running Trigger, and I'm still getting the same problem. I did fix permissions, I wiped the youtube cache, I wiped the dalvik cache, I did factory reset, but I cannot get media to work consistently.
Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?
I should probably disclose that I use titanium backup to restore missing apps with data only, but never any system apps.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this issue has me stumped!
(ps.: playback of videos directly within youtube.com also does not work either, and not because of the (this video is not available on mobile error either, but due to this all encompassing issue, I think).

This happens to me the other day and all I did was a reboot and it started working again.

I know what you're saying, it does indeed work after a reboot, but after a certain amount of time, it stops working again, and once again it needs to reboot.
It is kind of annoying, and I wish I could figure it out once and for all.
Hopeless bump.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue? Playback keeps getting broken.
I have this issues aswell. Is there for fix for Bionix V 1.3.1 or any TW roms. My youtube app is broken and its driving me crazy!
if you have the official twitter client installed, then get rid of it. I had the same problem, and read another post about this. The problem never happened again for me after I uninstalled the twitter client.

How do you know for sure that this is the issue. I will try it anyways since nothing else seems to fix this annoying issue.
So far this is working. Been 3 hours without videos on youtube not playing. Usually I have to reboot the phone every 30mins for youtube to work again. Will test this theory....
Why would twitter not fix this flaw in the apps programming?

How can I be sure? I don't. Like I said in the earlier post, I am just relaying the info from another post I read. It also fixed it for me. I don't need rebooting my phone anymore because media doesn't play.
That's why I just stopped flashing up to bionix 1.3. Tried 1.3.1 with some flaws noticed. Went back to 1.3 for 2 months already no hiccups or whatsoever. Running on kb5modem, overstock 2.4.1 kernel, splash of colors 4.1. Some minor system apps were pushed. Modded boot animations and shutdown too. Quads at 1900, 2003 at highest. Gps at 5secs lock with 8meters accuracy. Snappy fast blazing bionix.

My GPS worked out of the box when I got this phone last week but now it hasn't locked on all day. I am running the latest evil fascination ROM. Any advice?
Did you try wiping data, cache, and dalvik after install?

I am having the exact same issue. I NEVER get a lock anymore - even leaving it on for 30 minutes....
I have been running various ComRoms with various kernels and radios and still the same unusable GPS. I have also played with GPS Aids, GPS Status, and some other ones. I have read all the various forum posts about this issue to. Still nothing.
Would really love to know if anyone has any new advice... I too am getting really sick of it not locking on at all.... it used to just be slow, now it's useless all together.
Similar issue on a i9000 galaxy S here. Question: do you all recall if prior to the issue appearing you upgraded the version of google maps installed? Or some other app?

It was that damned Google Maps update after all! I stumbled into this: http://www.google.ru/support/forum/p...053f4eeb&hl=en
Uninstalled (the updates over the stock) Google Maps and presto: locked just fine!
try rebooting phone leaving gps on. you might want to look into a gps aid like gps booster. Since I have been running the powerwash rom, gps works better than ever.
Since ics update on the prime the Gmail app will freeze and close whenever I try to use it. Anyone else have this issue? Google maps also. Same issue

Works fine for me...
This would be considered a question. Could you please ask the mod to have this moved to the Q&A section?
Agreed with the last post. Should be in teh Q/A Section
Try going to settings --> apps --> manage apps --> gmail --> clear data and cache
Do this again for maps.
If that doesn't work, try a factory reset.
I had it but it seems to have resolved itself...

Have you tried clearing data, and cache yet? Or do a factory reset. All my issues went away after I did that.

Yep, should be moved to Q and A.
I'm not experiencing this problem BTW
Cool if a mod move. I won't get angry lol. I cleared cache and reset the prime and it stopped occurring. Well see if it comes back

Since I updated to OTA .15 I have this issues. If I reboot the prime all seems to work fine again. But after a while and using apps/games resource-intensive (like THD games or Gameloft) Gmail and Maps crashes again.
Clearing cache and app data doesn't solve the problem.
I don't have this problems with OTA .11
My ATP is WW international.
Gmail has been freezing and forceclosing on me near constantly for the last week or so. Has anyone else had this issue?
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
Was having the same issue after OTA.14 . I think it's its caused by a memory problem as it happens either when it was used a long time or had a lot of programs open. Restart seemed to fix it temporally. Maybe the new OTA .15 will fix it.

.15 did nothing on fixing issue.

I have the same problem.
Have you tried clearing the app cache then rebooting? Always the first step when troubleshooting an app.
Same problem here in ATP WW C1 with OTA .15 before OTA .14 this doesn't happen.
Clearing cache and app data doens't help.
A reboot solves the problem temporaly but if I play a game that need lots of resources like gameloft's games, shadowgun, etc. the gmail app has again this problem.
I also have the same problem with google maps: freezing and closing with or without FC.
Gmail force closes
I can confirm this issue with Gmail. I never had any problems with gmail before the update, now it forcecloses and sometimes I receive a blank white screen for about 15 seconds when first opening.
I was having an issue with gmail freezing and closing. I cleared cache, and app data then did a cold boot. Haven't had a problem with is since.
I have also experienced gmail freezing since ota .15. Restarting the prime helps.
Looking at the log cat when a gmail crash happen i noticed this error:

Useful information. That's a good idea; I'll check out my catlog too -- my gmail has been unsuable for quite some time now, and I definitely suspect is a disk I/O or memory issue.
I can't get into my Gmail app any more. It just closes as soon as I click on anything. Really annoying, been this way for months
A temporary workaround is to use Gmail as an exchange mail server, use server name m.google.com and it will do push email.

Glad I'm not the only one. I just found this same error after gmail closes. Strange since I appear to have a ton of memory available. Almost seems like the ATP won't use all available resources. I have a lot of stuff running and seem lately to have been getting system reboots from it even.
UPDATE:
Just found this tidbit:
https://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thread/28c5ffe1588436e?pli=1
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9412662/how-can-fonts-cause-opengl-out-of-memory-error
This might explain some of my behavior at least, as I'm using a bunch of Simple Text Widgets on my home screens (17 currently across 4 screens). Not word on a fix though. I really like the look so I'm quite bummed.
Also this one:
http://forums.developer.nvidia.com/devforum/discussion/6631/tegra-2-3-ics-driver-memory-leak/p1
I have the exact same issue. This pisses me off big time because it means I need to complete reboot the tablet to solve this. I am running the latest ASUS update as of this date (ICS 4.0.3) for the Transformer Prime.
The following error gets repeated over and over:
[ 06-15 14:56:33.460 563:0x233 D/OpenGLRenderer ]
GL error from OpenGLRenderer: 0x505
[ 06-15 14:56:33.460 563:0x233 E/OpenGLRenderer ]
OpenGLRenderer is out of memory!
Full LogCat:
http://pastebin.com/yEcmhDr2
Now, from what the previous poster shared, it seems we need to reduce the font size on widgets on the home screen. The question remains, how small do they need to be, when I look at my widgets, I don't even see any font I consider "large".
Did anyone solve this issue at all?
My Gmail was fine pretty. 28 update, but after the update it constantly freezes just after opening it. It's actually quite unusable as it is right now.
I'm on rooted stock (latest OTA) and every few days all of my google apps will stop responding (Maps, Wallet, search, etc.). I can open them, but they never get to the main screen of the app (just a blank screen). Rebooting it solves the issue. I haven't noticed any correlation with other apps running. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? I've finally got my phone the way I like it and I'd hate to hard reset if I don't have to.
Thanks!
I just noticed my gmail did that this morning. It might be because of the recent app update. Either way, it's only happened to me once so far, so keeping my fingers crossed.
I've done a reset to fix this and it did.....for a while but now it's back. I have to reboot or Google apps won't open fully, they just hang.
I have the same issue with Gmail, navigation and sometimes the web browser. A reboot fixes the hang but who wants to do that all the time.
+1
I am having the same issues. Reboot fixes it.
+1 pretty sure it was the gmail update. I uninstalled and it seems to be working fine again.

Mine The Same But Im Not Rooted Hope They Fix It Soon
Try getting the logcat for the event. You can use "alogcat" from market. Search on how to use logcat ( it's color coded for obvious events). Magic bit ( "self" changing) events are more difficult. "Autostarts" from market will let you see your spinlocks, so if any unrelated app has the screen or some other resource then you've got the cause.
Uninstalling the gmail updates had no effect. Happened 3 times in the last 24 hours. Getting very frustrating.

I have the same issue as well with gmail loading to a white screen. I've tried doing a force stop but that didn't help, which made no sence when a reboot fixes it.
Mine started doing this too, only started about a week ago. I always have to reboot too, very annoying.

Are you using a custom launcher? I was using Apex launcher and it worked awesome for the longest time. Recently my gapps started locking up as well so I uninstalled Apex and haven't had a lockup since. I did NOT reboot after uninstalling Apex, and the issue has cleared up.... Give it a shot if you're using a custom launcher.
I am running the stock with the OTA update (no custom ROM or root) and I'm seeing this as well. Good thing is, this has nothing to do with your custom ROMs. Bad thing is, this is a real issue that seem to be affecting everyone!

Just do as huludical has said here. So far this is the only fix that has been working. Something with the Wallet fix in the OTA starting screwing up the way many other Google apps communicate with their servers. By disabling/uninstalling Wallet and clearing the data/cache for Google Services Framework and then a quick reboot and the issue is no more.
Granted, this means, that once again we are unable to use Wallet but that's a small price to pay when the alternative is having Gmail, Maps, Chrome etc etc freezing up every day or so.
Is there an update to this situation? I am UN rooted and this is happening to me
