Cable looks o.k.
Hi hakmed,
your y-cable looks good.
But, perhaps a stupid question: Did you try it with an Single -Card-Reader and a normal SD-Card? A Multi-Card-Reader doesn't work, as far as i know.
Good luck in debranding, don't kill your phone...

Thanks Oldbadman for the suggestion, but i've used just with a micro-card reader like this: h ttp://img16.imageshack.us/img16/8120/wp000015o.jpg
What do u mean with normal SD-card?

I can give up? Please, someone with a big heart, with a good soul....

I assume you have not downgraded it yet, that is why you are using the Y cable.
You need to first downgrade with an older ROM from your region.
Read the thread mention below, it will send you to another thread where you can download the correct ROM to download to.
Did you push the camera button at the same time as the down volume button and then the power button. To enter USB host mode.
I followed this thread
[TUT]SPL Downgrade from 5.x - RSPL and HSPL - Flash Custom ROM - Trick Marketplce
It worked for me.

I'm not downgraded yet, and I still branded with Orange FR
That's the reason I am trying use the Y cable
I've tried this thread too:
h ttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196183
but stuck at 1%, and reboot

I used thisTUT

I've tried this too
dont work
cuz my bootloader is 5.xx
I think my mozart have a halfbrick

Mine was 5.xx. as well
You just need to follow all the steps.
I think it took at least 15minutes to load the first time
Sorry I cannot be of more help.
Have you tried another SD card

try changing Card reader. In my experience, i have used 4 card readers (all are in good shape). 2 microSD card readers, 1 SD card reader, and 1 Multicard reader.
1 used 2 cards. 1 microSD (2gb) and 1 SD card (2gb).
surprisingly, the multicard reader and microSD card worked with my mozart. from SPL 5.12 i was able to downgrade my device's SPL to 1.26.

AT&T 8525 WM 6.0 .... help flashing

can someone kindly walk me thru upgrading my AT&T 8525 firmware or software. I originally received it w/ WM 5.0 later I upgraded to original Microsoft WM 6.0 . eversince, I tried flashing w/ cooked software ROM but it wont accept any flashing. I was told, I have to use a specific file to flash it, then I will accept any cooked software (ROM) . I apologize, I'm new in this matter, not even sure if I'm using the correct terminology. but bottom line I want to use other software other than the Microsoft WM 6.0. many thanks to everyone. rustyjack67
Mate, read this - http://www.mrvanx.org/guide/hermes/upgrades/hardspl
Then this - http://www.mrvanx.org/guide/hermes/upgrades/rom
Then this - http://www.mrvanx.org/guide/hermes/upgrades/radio
This should set you right.
To upgrade your SPL to Hard SPL V7 using the sd card method go to page 116, post 1160.
You can use the sd card method AFTER installing Hard SPL V7 for ROMs, just drop the steps using SSPL.exe.
Cheers...

You need Hard SPL V7. You SPL needs to be 2.10 oli. The thread I gave you will allow you to download it, its on the 1st page (about the middle - just look for Hard SPL V7).

Mate, there are dangers no matter what you use but I find the sd card method safest. Just make sure you have a charged battery, a 2Gb sd card formatted FAT32 & make no spelling mistakes - hermimg.nbh . About the only way you can stuff it up is to not have Hard SPL V7 installed and if you reset in he middle of the flash. A charged battery is a must, don't think you can charge it while it flashes, it doesn't work.
Happy flashing.... Man that sounds dirty...
Cheers...
This must the one your talking about.........

ok, lets see if i get this right.
1. download hardspl v7 from the first post.
2. extract ruu_signed.nbh and rename it to HERMIMG.nbh
3. copy it to a microsd card, make sure the card is formatted as fat32
4. download sspl-herm from here
5. extract SSPL-HERM.exe and copy it to your phone.
6. insert sd card and run sspl-herm.exe on the phone.
7. you should see the tri-color screen and then it should change to this
8. press power button to start flashing
9. reset when you get the msg that its done.
so far I've got everything needed including the hard SPL-V7, SSPL-HERM.exe, micro SD formatted to FAT32..... hopefully I get this in one shot, wish me luck, any last warning? by the way many thanks to you ULTRA, your my hero . this phone is for my " old lady, hopefully If I get it right, I might get a little extra" you know what I mean!!!!! chow ................... rusty
No problem, you go big boy...
Cheers...
I did everything right,
When it says to press the power button,
I press it, nothing happens.
I don't think im doing anything wrong, i've been trying this for 2 hours, and im very frustrated.............
You need 2Gb or less sd card.
It has to be formatted FAT32.
The .nbh file MUST be renamed hermimg.nbh and MUST be a rom for the Hermes.
As long as these 3 things are right you should have NO problems, however, if just 1 thing is wrong then you won't be able to upgrade ANYTHING...
Cheers...

Tried approximately everything to make my tytn's radio work

So here i am with situation : i can put just about any rom to my tytn, but the problem is the radio. I have tried god knows how many different radio updates, none of em work. And "work" as in when i start the updater, the percentage stays at 0% and after a minute or two it just says error code 260. Im using my _xp_ laptop to update it, with usb-cable. No, i dont have micro-sd card cause im totally broke :<
So i got this tytn from my friend, for free, it originally contained black satin and yes everything worked. But then i installed hmm, yes, CRCs newest and thats the point it went kaput, the radio i mean.
The information that the magical tricolor gives me is:
HERM200
IPL-1.01
HERM200
SPL-1.40.Olipro
So any advice, im puzzled, searched the forums x^y times.
halp! :<
You don't have Hard SPL V7 installed - SPL = 2.10 oli. I'd install that 1st.
Look, $10 for a 2Gb sd card, surely you can afford that?
Don't get bigger than 2Gb if you want to use the sd card method as bootloader won't recognise it. I use a 256Mb for flashing and an 8Gb for normal use. More than enough...
Go to the Hard SPL thread to find out how to install Hard SPL using the sd card method - page 116, post 1160. Afterwards you can use this method to flash roms, just drop the steps using SSPL.exe (Soft SPL). I wouldn't chance flashing a radio rom using the pc, too many things could go wrong... Once the memory is corrupted, you have a lovely PDA, but no more phone...
Also, try to flash the original radio rom on, it may work, DON'T try flashing other things as you may permanently brick your Hermes...
Cheers...
yeah looks like im going to have to submit to buying that micro-sd after all, ill get it, do some things and report back
thanks for advice
now back to the drawing board ^^->
new developments :
installed hard-spl 7
bought micro-sd card, formatted it to fat32
attempted, or, attemping, as i write, to put in a new radio rom as instructed in page 116 post #1160
the progress bar gets stuck to ~10% and never goes forward
what course of action to take next?
yup, waited ~50 minutes, still stuck at 10% :<
Try the SHIPPED STOCK radio ROM... If you can remember what it is...
People have had success flashing the native raio rom when none other will work. It seems it hasn't got to the "magic" 12% mark where its impossible to recover so you MAY be able to flash, no guarantees as these little buggers can be obstinate and cantankerous...
now am i blind but, where to get this magigal stock radio rom ?

The operator ROMs typically include radio too. You could look for them.
I have a bricked Hermes. Have tried all the things that you have, and some - no luck in getting the radio to work. The PDA part works beautifully. And the battery lasts almost forever...

I live in finland so um, i have no idea what _is_ the original rom, ohwell :<
brick is a brick
btw got a perfectly working tytn ii so no worries ^^ not gonna flash it in _any_ way x)

After bad flash, can't flash new radio (RSA FAIL)

Hello everyone,
i've been reading this forum for one month,
It was the day I decided to upgrade my HTC HD2, and someone disconnected the usb cable during the process.
Don't talk to me about that ;-)
The problem is I can't flash any rom radio into the phone.
OS ROMS work.
I read carefully a lot of posts here, I can say I have exactly the same problems as _Juster_ from this post :
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=618084
My phone is a french HTC HD2, Orange branded.
I successfully installed HSPL 2.08
Making upgrades using USB is very difficult, it is very unstable (communication errors, no response from the phone....) .
I tried on windows 7 pro and win xp sp3 and it is the same.
I then created a goldcard, that I'm using to flash directly in the phone. It is stable, but when flashing a radio rom I always get the "ERROR 00018003, RSA FAIL error".
I learned from xda that the issue can be solved by flashing the original stock radio rom from Orange.
I downloaded a lot of shipped roms from Orange, or HTC.
Always RSA_FAIL.
I'm maybe doing something wrong, or this is a hardware problem....
a few questions for you folks :
1/ It seems that the original Orange stock rom is a 1.43
Must I have the 1.42 HSPL to flash it ?
Is the version of your HSPL important, when you want to flash a rom ? can I flash whatever rom with any HSPL ?
2/ using a Glodcard with HSPL already installed.
when you enter on the bootloader (vol down + power) you arrive on the HSPL tri color screen, displaying HSPL 2.08....
Are you sure the Goldcard is being used ?
How to be sure of that ?
I think (I may be wrong) when you enter the bootloader mode You are on HSPL mode.
What I do to enter the goldcard mode :
I just press power,
I have a "Software update failed message"
Then I arrive to the "Loading..." message
With the name of the ROM i'm trying to flash
LEOIMG.nbh
RADIO V2
Press power to start update
Am I right ?
Thanks for reading this and helping me.
is there other Tasks like task 29 you are aware of ?
Task 29 formats the phone ?
is there a way to partition the phone or to diagnose if there's a problem ?
what do we know about that RSA_FAIL ?
I assume the RSA proccessing is to check whether the RSA Key of the radio rom matches the phone's one ?
Is there a software way to bypass that RSA check ?
I've downloaded 22 radio roms (from orange and HTC) + several others (shipped & cooked)
I always get a RSA FAIL message when I try to flash.
any clue ? something ?
Can't really make out if you tried it from your post, but you could try to flash back to stock by using the SD flash method. Just put the leoimg.nbh in the root of the SD and boot while holding the vol down button. That way you go back to stock spl, rom and radio.
Check the sticky in the ROM development section which refers to the whole HSPL and how to flash everything topic. That should fill you in on HSPL.

I already flashed 22 radio roms and a dozen of full roms (os + radio) using SD CARD.
As the usb is very unstable I'm using the sd card method to flash, which is also a goldcard.
the problem is I ALWAYS get the RSA FAIL message (error 00018003) at the end of the radio flashing process.
This guy : forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=618084
had the same problem but with un unbranded phone and had it solved by flashing a cooked rom he randomly choosed.
To understand the situation,
my phone is an Orange branded one, what is the difference between a branded and an unbranded phone, assuming they both have the same HSPL ?
thx
Just sold my HD2.
Seems like some questions don't have answers....
what was the problem? íf i understand you right, it even worked..but you couldnt flash another radio...
why dont you use it further?
DN41
The phone wasn't able to boot
It was stuck at the white HTC logo,
After the failure of a radio flash, I was not able to flash it again. (RSA FAIL)
I read all the posts about this problem in xda, tried everything, nothing worked.
sorry...
so who bought it? how much did you get?
someone who needed a new lcd or so?
DN41
150€ , it was in a very good condition
RSA FAIL

You don't just rename the whole update, you extract the ruu_signed.nbh file and rename that.
RSA FAIL
I had the same problem with my polaris (htc touch cruise - pola160). I managed to get rid of the problem by downgrading the radio rom.
I couldn't find my old one, but I was able to find the highest version older than my old one in the forum. So I first downgraded the radio using the sd card, after that the rom I was trying to install in the first place worked.
Thx to pcarvalho for this "fix" : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3645124&postcount=1 - the "Important Note:" section (always read the small print ).
Hope this helpes.
PS: Sorry if this is too late for some...

Put the back of the phone in front of an AC in cold for 5 minutes, and keeping it always in front of the AC try to install.
If you are able to do that, send it back to the warranty.
Hello,
I have the same problem!
long time ago I had HTC devices, but few days ago I bought HD2 and it was installed android. Is unable to start or when they try to load a ROM eror occurs.
phone has only a white scrin.
error occurs mostly when upgrade Radio ver. I somehow managed NRGZ image but again not boot system.
Task 29 also comes to 19% and stops with the error.
I have a feeling that the real problem is the radio version. (00,018,003 Radio Fail)
I do not know what is the original ROM.

[q] help please! By flashing hspl

Hy!
I did a stupid thing, with the following. I copyed an LEOIMG.nbh file to my formatted sd card, so I get an SPL-1.42.0000, but I can't flash any HSPL to my device, because the HSPL setup writes out USB connection error. Neighter can I flash for example the official 1.66 rom, the installation stops after 1%, and writes INVALID VENDER ID. What can I do?
Very siple but you need lots of time for it. The rom you flashe has spl 3.03 on it and so it doesn't allow you to flash any other spl on it. What you can do is you have to search for old stock roms in the native language of your phone. As long as the phone keeps giving you error when trying to flash a stockrom with you sd card, it means you have not yet gotten the right stockrom for you phone so you have to try with different old stockroms till you get the right one.
After that. you'll be able to flash whatever you like. Hope it helps.
But remember, you need time and patience.

You can also download HSPL 4 and use it to downgrade your SPL. To do this manualy put your HD2 into bootloader by holding the volume down button and pressing the power(end) butom momentarily. Once in bootloader connect your HD2 to your computer via USB cable wait until you see USB in the white bar of thd bootloader and run the HSPL 4 on your computer. It will ask you which SPL or HSPL you wish go flash select the proper SPL version to flash to your HD2 and you should be good to go. Hint the SPL version will have zeros at the end of them and the HSPL version will not. Example SPL 2.08.0000 HSPL 2.08. Hope this helps.

Hi. I have the same pronblem. I have a UK HD2 that was originally on Tmobile. I flashed 2.08HSPL using HSPL4 & upgraded the ROM to the standard WWE_3.14. A long story short... after playing around with SD Android & a few other utilities I wanted to make a clean start, so my plan was to use HSPL4 to remove the HSPL before then re-installing it & reflashing the ROM. Unfortunately I now seem to be stuck in SPL2.08.0000. HSPL4 just gives the same error:

I have also tried flashing a stock ROM via SD (renamed leoimg.nbh), but I can't get passed the bootloader displaying 'serial'.
Any ideas?

Yes on both counts... I've even tried a complete 'long' reformat of the SD card first using the Panasonic SD Formatter, before putting the leoimg.nbh at the root.
I'm guessing that my stupid mistake is downgrading to SPL2.08.0000 whilst having a generic version of the 3.14 ROM installed. I guess I should have downgraded the ROM to an original Tmobile one first...
Could i ask what operating system you guys are using cos this problem could have less to do with the phone than it has to do with the operating system on the pc. I was trying to flash some roms on some old devices using Windows 7 but this didn't seem to work but it magically worked when i used Windows xp. I hope this works.
About the wrong Vendor problem, this just means the rom flashed is not recognized by the phone as the official one, i also had that problem and after flashing a official rom in the language of my phone, the problem was solved. I used the 1.66 rom so that i could flash hspl or else it might be impossible to do so.
Or as someone suggested you might try the hspl4 (never knew that existed) but try using Windows xp and if the problem persists try reinstalling your operating system (on your pc). I know it a lot of work but its just to rule out that the problem is from the pc.
Another thing i want to make sure of is if the phone is working normally with the rom on it or is there no rom at all?

Hi. Thanks for the input. The problem is getting even more frustrating! I've tried buying a new 4GB micro SD card (both are class 4). I have tried both TMO_UK_1.72 & TMO_UK_1.43. Both ROMs were downloaded from HTC using the correct phone's serial, so they should be the correct ones.
With the original SD card I can't get passed the bootloader screen & it just stays in 'serial' mode. With the new SD card it moves on to 'loading...', but then just hangs. I haven't yet seen the word 'searching' as described in the [TUT] Flash your ROM / Radio via microSD.
To clarify, the phone boots fine with the installed 3.14 ROM, but I can't get away from SPL 2.08.0000 or flash any other ROM.

Ok here is a couple of options for you. One go to www.t-mobile.com if you have a T-Mobile HD2 and type HTC HD2 upgrade in the search box on the home screen of the website and you will find the official T-Mobile 3.14 ROM. You will have to enter your IMEI number under your battery to download it. Download this ROM and then follow the steps to flash it via SD card, hint you will have to rename the original .exe file to .zip to gain access to the .nbh file. Also you can download and run HSPL 4 on your HD2 and select SPL 3.03.0000 but the official ROM will change it to SPL 3.10.0000 if you flash via SD card
Its a common problem i think if you are trying to flash a rom via sd card with a sd card higher than class two. Many here have encountered such problems.
According to your description, it will seem that it is as i suspected, the pc doesn't seem to recognize the phone and this could mean you have a defect usb cable or the useport itself is not funtioning properly. Try holding the phone in your hand with the usb in and support the usb with your hand to make sure the usb is indeed in the phone and see what happens. My usb cable is a little bit loose so when i want to flash anything, i use my hand to support it or i place my phone on a smoot surface and make sure the usb cable is in it.

CRITICAL ERROR
Flow:00000001
Error code: 00000002
Description: USB Connect failed!
I have also tried flashing a stock ROM via SD (renamed leoimg.nbh), but I can't get passed the bootloader displaying 'serial'.
Any ideas?

Ok do to some recent personal experience and some other members problem of late. I suggest both of you do this go to www.windowsmobile.com/getstarted and download the most recent version of WMDC wich has updated drivers in it that seems to solve somd problems with flashing via USB especially if you are using a 64 bit system. Just so both of you know unless your HD2 shows up as "HTC USB Sync" in the device manager while connected via USB while in bootlaoder you do not have the correct drivers installed and any flash will fail.
T-Macgnolia & Abdul9: Thanks for that, however mine is a UK Tmobile HD2 & the .com site is only for US ones (it doesn't recognise UK IMEI's). If I go via the UK site it just links me to the HTC update site for the RUU_Leo_S_TMO_UK_3.14.110.1_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship (& also the 1.72 & 1.43 versions. I have tried all of these via both SD card & via USB. I have also tried HSPL4, HSPL3 & HSPL2. All options have failed. I have tried from Win XP Pro & Win 7 Ultimate (both 32bit) with two different USB leads. I have also tried a 3rd SD card (which ends up stalling at the 'loading' screen. The phone flashed fine prior to removing 2.08HSPL with HSPL4.
I think that the problem is not the SD card or the USB lead, but is the problem that I've now got a Tmobile (UK) phone with spl 2.08 & a WWE_3.14 ROM installed - this should obviously not normally be possible. I can't flash back to HSPL & I can't downgrade to any other ROM.
Does anyone have any idea how I can 'fool' the phone into letting me change the ROM?
I've been reading about Task29, but it says don't do this unless you have HSPL (which I can't get!). I don't want to brick the phone (because it still runs!), but I want HSPL back otherwise I can't reinstall Android on SD.
Furthermore, I don't think this is a USB driver issue, as it flashed fine before & it's occurring across different PC's & operating systems.
It's an incompatibility between a branded Tmobile with SPL & a WWE HTC ROM... I just need to get out of the loop I'm stuck in!
Hey Chameleon I know you don't think it is a problem with the drivers cause it was flashing fine before. But what I do not think you have taken into account is that you came from a older ROM and you had the right drivers to work with that ROM or the update for that ROM. But you now have a 3.14 ROM and this is a newer ROM that probably requires different drivers. I mean Microsoft did not create a new WMDC with updated drivers if it was not needed for the 3.14 ROMs as they are the most recent official ROM versions. Microsoft is the one that comes out with the new ROM versions too, the carriers just add their bloatware to them. Do you see my train of thought here? Also make sure you are usinv SD card that is 500MBPS to 8GB that is formated with Fat 32.

WOW! I've got the problem sorted! This can't be a coincidence... I haven't done anything different to my PC, but I got an 'unlock' code through for my phone this morning (£5.99 on Ebay) & it worked fine. I though "why not" & tried HSPL4 again. With no other changes it worked absolutely fine this time & I now have 2.08HSPL installed.
Presumably by unlocking my my phone from Tmobile it has also removed the 'you're using the incorrect ROM' problem.
Thanks for everyones input on this. I maintain that XDA-Developers is one of the best Forums around (not just within the mobile phone arena).

[Q] What Am i doing wrong?

Hey guys,
Im a new member here
but been following through all the great posts here at XDA for a long time now.
I have been trying to unlock my HTC Radar for almost 2 days now but im unable to do so.
1. I tried using the ROMUpdateUtility from here : HSPL for HTC WP7 Second Generation
I got the Invalid Vender ID error and thus had to resort to the Gold Card Method. Made the Gold card from a 4GB MicroSD card , Bought the Y-cable ( 2 MALE and 1 Female type ) and also a Female-Female USB Gender Changer as per this post here :
[Noob-friendly] Goldcard SPL Downgrade Method; No Android-Phone and/or custom wires!
I Fixed it Accordingly but the Screen is stuck where it says *Enter USB Host Mode* .. i tried various combination of MicroSD card Readers and MicroSD card .. i have included a image of my configuration in this post
Can someone please help me...
Thank you In Advance
Did you successfully do the steps that required the gold card?
You have to put your phone in SPL mode in order to use RUU.
Do you have Windows Mobile Device Center installed?
Tried
I tried the RUU first by entering in SPL mode . Installed the Drivers and then i got an Invalid Vender id , so while using the gold card method i tried various Memory cards ( SD card : 2gb and 4gb ) and also Flash drives but the screen is always stuck in "Enter USB Host mode.."
Yeah me too, I followed every step in the instruction and I could not make it, my phone freezes at screen "Enter USB Host Mode" too
I tried HSPL, and I got this
Sorry I'm noob

Hi, have you tried to swtich the phone and the card reader? In my opinion, the phone should be connected in the place of the card reader, and the card reader in the place of the phone. At the first time, at least for me, the process doesn't start inmediatly, I had to wait a couple of minutes the first time. I think that's not a problem with the gold card, if the gold card is not created properly the phone will be stuck at loading.
Greetings.

Does your y-cable work properly?
Did you patch the proper image to the goldcard i.e the .nbh file?
im 100% sure i patched the correct OMEGIMG.nbh file cause the gold card tool showed that the process was success. I give up Been trying for 5 days now. I think time to quit and wait for some easy process to come along !

+1 same here....waiting for a method where no use of goldcard is there
I was stuck there for a while too. I ended up just rotating my y-cable with attachments until my radar recognized the goldcard and tried to load it. It's possible that your y-cable is not wired correctly also. I tried to buy one from a local store, and they told me that it wasn't designed in a way that would allow me to use it to make the goldcard, so I bought the recommended one from amazon.
WP7 noob here long time Android flasher/rooter.
What is the point of unlocking the Radar at this point as there doesn't seem to be ROM's available, or am I missing something? Are they coming?
Thanks for any replies.
There are currently 3 custom ROMS available in the development section.

turn off your phone. hold volume up+down simultaneously & press power button, it should take you to SPL mode. then connect your phone to USB port. if you use windows 7, it would install the driver automatically. when installed, run the RUU.exe.
hope it helps
