[Q] New to Android - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Guys Im new on android always had the normal mobiles, I always had pay as you go and did not need more than £5 a mounth because when I am at home I send sms on my computer (esemes.co.uk) for free. I would like to know if there is an app that can send sms for free to any mobiles not just android (Whatsapp). Im going to top up £5 monthly and get 500mb.
I would like to would if is possible to have a theme like the Xperia mini pro on galaxy ace?
Thank you

well first of all welcome to our community! I use Viber app it gives free calls and messages as long as you have wifi. And try flashing xperiatized rom or gingercruzt your choice. Xperiatized is based on stock which makes it more stable and gingercruzt is based on CM7 so faster anf kinda looks pretty XD

But can i send sms for mobiles without viber?
Thank you

There are apps that sends sms for free. But using data. Try search at the market "free sms" . And welcome to our community. Do read the FAQ at the sticky. Tq

[Q] whatsapp messenger on galaxy player 5

I have the 4.0 and I can't get that app either. What you can do is go to 4shared.com and get and download it from there. just search for whatsapp apk.
You need a phone number for most free messaging services...impossible to get on a non mobile device...

Not true. I have the Galxy S Player 4.0 and I have a messaging app called Heywire(which is in the market), and they give you a free phone number for messaging only.
I said most...whatsapp and other popular apps require a phone number

And Google Voice works just fine. That's all I ever used even on my Optimus phone.

That's true. Whatsapp for android needs a real mobile number, so it doesn't work on the Player. However, Whatsapp works in iPod touch (¬¬).
Flash Meticulus' rom R5 and you are able to use whatsapp.
If whtsapp cant confirm your mobile number, just ask for a callback to your phone number

I really really want to have Whatsapp on my Samsung Galaxy player 4.0 because on my smartphones in the past I have always had it and I have family all over the world.
Long story short, I made an account on 4shared, downloaded Whatsapp, and now it tells me that I cannot use it since I don't have a phone number.
How on earth do you ask for a callback? Is it just impossible to have Whatsapp on a phoneless smartphone (it's like an iTouch).
I emailed Whatsapp as well but they're having technical problems with their technical support (not sure I understand that).
Any advice?

Basically you need to have a hacked framework and give your Galaxy Player a faked device ID (IMEI no.). Then Whatsapp will think that it is a phone and let you get through the installation. The usual SMS verification will still fail because Galaxy Player is not really a phone. However, after the SMS failure, Whatsapp will offer you the callback option.
There are a number of custom ROMs for 5.0 have the hack but I am not sure about 4.0.
Klin's Klassic has a version with the deviceid hack but it's not the latest version... It's included in R3 but removed in all later versions

[Q] Make a call or send a sms via external modem?

Hi there, I planning to buy a wifi-only 7" tablet, but the tablet support some external 3G/EVDO modem to connect to the internet. So, is there -by any chances- a way to make a call or send a sms via external modem?
I've seen this possible on "ipod to iphone conversion" with custom dialer and sms app...
App
I do not know ur tablet model do i do not know connections ect...
But if you look around there are some apps that let you send SMS's on your tablet that then sends it through the phone via the app on both devices
Look at TexTab, is is in google play/market, i have not tested it so i cannot guarantee it works/safe
Also you need to check then android market works with your tablet, the app is around £2 in UK
Most tablets cannot call or text by them self, only with a android phone

If I helped Please Take the time 2 press on the thanks button under my post

The function with smart stay, isn't build into cyanogen, I can solve that with an app
But do cyanogen, have the movement function? ex. when i take the phone up it vibrates, if I have a unread sms. or seing contact details, and taking the phone to my ear, then it calls?
or how to solve this?
sorry for my english

Sounds like you should stick with stock ROM mate

Yup stick to Samsung based roms, You'll lose all of that functionality if you move to CM10/AOSP/AOKP. Miui has Smart Stay but thats it

stan lmeina

Hello everyone,
My fiancee is running an aokp jelly bean rom on her sg2 att. Now here is the question. She really likes the rom but .... go figure...she likes the text messaging in the original the best. She liked how her sent messages where in a blue bubble
(the text in the conversation) and the response was in a yellow bubble if you follow my drift. How would i go about chaning that. Would I just have to find the messaging apk and remove it. Than install with another. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!
Try Handcent in the Play Store. You can make your messages look ANY WAY you want.

[Q] What is currenlty the best application for SMS scheduling?

Hello Everyone. I have just cahnged smartphone (from a Samsung Glaxy S5 mini with lollipop i am now using a Samung Galaxy A8 2018 with android 7.x.x). And i am going through all the app i had on the previous one to see if there is something that i have to delete, update etc ...
Now, one specific need that i have is to use an app for scheduling sms. On the previous smartphone i was using "SMS Scheduler" by lylynx.com developer. The app was great, worked smooth, and only required 3 permissions (no internet access needed, and overall for an app that has access to sms data is a good thing that has a limited amount of other permissions required). Now i have just realized THAT app is no longer available in the playstore ... off course i do have the last apk (and i am giving it a try to see if it works ok on the new smartphone) but i was wondering ... what happened to that developer? Is there any other similar app around? Maybe by a developer that is currently active? I would prefer to use applications that are still available in the play store and that couldreceive any update (if needed by whatever reason)? Do you have some app suggestion for me?
Thank you in advance to anyone who will post some suggestion/contribution.
Bye
