[Q] Deleting or removing VPN's - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I've tried to create a VPN to work on the at&t note similar to one I have on an Iphone using pptp or L2tp but they have been unsuccessful. Now I have 2 non working VPN's listed. Is there a way to remove or delete these VPN's ?
many thanks

Not sure exactly what you mean but if you hold down your finger/pen on the vpn you get an option to delete the vpn.
sent from my galaxy note using tapatalk

Thanks, I'll try that after work.

Thanks I tried it when I got home worked like a charm. First time I used the stylus. Even allows you to edit VPN's. Seems with the finger it just wanted to connect, it would just bring up username/password prompt.

[Q] IP Proxy, help needed....

I have struggled to connect to wifi entreprise since a month now. I have managed to connect to the wifi, only to find out that I need to use a proxy. Is there an easy way to access the proxy of my company using streak? As I understood we are using a pac url way.
I have tried several proxies (like transproxy, orbot, etc.) but not able to make it work. It's really annoying because my iphone fellow workers set their iphones easily, they are laughing at me.
Any proxy app using pac out there? Thanks in advance for any help.

[Q] How to bypass internet content filter?

Ok, my workplace has a wireless network with an internet content filter called "optenet". I know the wireless network's SSID and Password. When I open my stock browser I can't access any web pages what-so-ever but I have found that by using the Opera Mini Browser that I can access all webpages. But no other internet apps will work (XDA app, YouTube app, etc.)
My question is... Is there some method of allowing my phone to completely bypass this filter? Whether I'm on the stock browser, youtube app, etc.?
Anyone...?

I would think that since your stock browser is running off the APN (carrier) that if you set up a new APN called "workAPN" or something like that and instead of putting in your carrier's proxy and server settings, you put in the settings of your workplace it should work. Get your wifi's ip address and see if you can pull the settings from there or buy the IT guy lunch and see if he'll tell ya.
Opera most like runs from a different mobile server to route you to the mobile pages and their links. The stock browser runs through your mobile network/wifi with those proxy/server settings.
I might be way off but sounds good to me. If it doesn't work, you can always just delete the workAPN you created. Might want to check into setting up a VPN too. Not sure how those work.

Haha, if it were only as easy as to buy the IT guy a sandwich. Anyways I'm still not sure I completely understand. How would I go by getting my workplace's WiFi settings from its IP address...
-----
@Woodrube Also, how's that battery saving guide coming along?
Pretty sure if you put the IP address in your browser bar and hit enter, it will go to the router settings and you should be able to pull it off there. That is what I did awhile ago when I bought a wifi from a garage sale. Since you are on corporate, might be a little tougher b/c of security and such but I be it could be done. Check out this for a rough idea to get into the settings page.

I have some similar experience, my brother installed a web filter on my computer when I was young, and I resetted my computer in order to delete the web filter. It's really complicated.
Similar problem here.
At school the wifi is good I know password it let's us on normally used websites but not on things like xda. All proxies are blocked as well. I'm going To do a bit more searching right after this research paper is done. I'll let you know if i find anything at all.

SSHTunnel
You guys can always run SSHTunnel on your phones and a sshd on a computer at home to tunnel through any content filtering system. You can find it Here

You need to have another computer running a SSH server and this program connect to the SSH Server, and routes all traffic on your phone through the tunnel. Here is a primer on SSH Tunneling "howtogeek.com/wiki/How_to_Use_SSH_Tunneling" and how it works.

The link should be a lot more clear now. If you don't have a computer running at home 24/7 you can also get a free shell that allows you to run background process' and tunnel through that. And to look for free shells you can take a look at "shells.red-pill.eu"

Internet working with browser, but not with apps

Hi Guys,
I have 3 android devices (xperia s, htc one x and a galaxy s3) connected to a wifi network. This is kind of a protected network and there is a firewall involved. Also the devices are getting IP via DHCP. The problem is that i am able to access web site via browser but when i try from the application, its showing i don't have internet connection. There is no proxy configured in this network. There is an IP filtering in the router which filters the IPs starting with a particular series. But the web site and the application which i am trying to use are supposed to use this IP series.
I've come across issues with internet connections on mobile devices. This might not work for you, but it has worked for me in the past.
I assume your devices detect all of the settings you need automatically?
If so, you may need to manually change some things.
1) Check your IP and make sure it's set right for your network
2) Check your DNS settings. Sometimes the default ones don't work properly.
Try:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
These are from Google's OpenDNS and have served me well in the past.
If all else fails, check the network itself.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply.. but as i mentioned earlier, the device is getting IP and other stuffs via DHCP. I am not allowed to configure something statically. It has to come via DHCP. But the interesting fact is that an iPAD in the same network is able to get internet in both browser as well as applications.
Hey, if you need to get settings via DHCP then you should talk to your network admin for the settings

I am getting all the settings perfectly.. hope haven't read my first post.. i am able to browse via browser.. the problem is with the apps.. that y am confused about.. i know this kind of a problem may arise when we have a proxy configured in the network.. but we dont have a proxy in the network.. in fact an ipad hooked up to the same network works totally fine..
Did you get your apps working?
Nope..still facing the same issue.. internet is available in browser. but not in the apps..
There is no problem with your phone. I am sure that changing your router will fix this problem. Try another router with your internet connection and tell me if that worked.
Press thanks if I helped you!
We have tried that as well.. The situation got little worse with the new router. Now Internet is not working with ipad as well. But it's working in browser for both ipad and android. Another thing I have observed is that the Web pages load blazing fast in a windows and blackberry but the same site loads very slow in android and ios. As I mentioned earlier, the network is having a high security with firewall and encryption. Is there any limitations for android and ios to work with these kind of highly secure network??

I think that the firewall is the main culprit. Try disabling the firewall if you can.

Ya.. even i feel the same... but its a secure network and firewall is a vital part.. so we cant disable it.. is there any known limitations for android to work with firewall or networks with these kind of setup.
Just mess with WiFi settings

Hi - I was experiencing this on a Galaxy Nexus with no SIM card only connected to WiFi - on a WiFi router that used to work.
The solution was to
1. Open up DHCP settings on the phone (Settings -> WiFi -> My Network -> Advanced)
2. Manually set them to something that's wrong.
3. Save.
4. Set DHCP back to what it was.
5. Save.
May not work for you, but for me, after about 30 seconds the app store and other apps started working again without having to do a factory reset or doing anything to my router/network.
Let me know if this helped!

[Q] Getting web authenticated wifi to stick without reauthenticating

Howdy all. I have a wifi at home which works with web authentication i.e. you connect your phone to wifi and on opening a browser, it redirects you to an authentication site wherein upon entering your username and password, you get connected. The authentication page requires you to keep the tab open and work with another tab, otherwise you lose the connection. When working on a PC, it works like a charm. I keep the tab open and wifi sticks for long even when you're not active. But on a smartphone (I have a Galaxy S3 here), it's a living hell trying to keep it stay connected. I've tried keeping the browser app resident in memory, created a tasker script to browse the URL and reconnect on certain intervals which honestly is too tedious and needs a better solution, used wifi web login apps which don't work to my satisfaction i.e. don't connect just when connection is lost; but in all these cases, the connection just seems to disconnect making me reconnect time and again :/. I would be utterly grateful to anybody who could suggest a solution for me for this as this is seriously making me lose my sleep.

it could be the provider is forcing it, have you tried another router? normally, the web authentication is a proxy, so that could be the modem, or at the provider's end

Don't think the router has anything to do with this. Only the provider URL loads in the browser for authentication. So yeah, would know if it had something to do with the router.

I've been using this app for about 2 months now without any problems, up until about 2 weeks ago. Now if I'm in default LTE mode, my laptop and tablet can connect to the hotspot, but I can't open a webpage in Firefox on either device, it just times out. I've verified that Firefox on my phone can access them. Also, I can open a cmd prompt on the laptop and get successful pings on google.com, but it still times out on the laptop or tablet.
If I reboot the phone to be on CDMA/EVDO then everything works fine, just slower. I'm on Sprint. I sent an email to the developer, and he stated he didn't think it was a problem in the app itself but advised me to check the APN settings. I can't seem to locate them on this phone.
Anyone else having this problem, or have any suggestions?
Thanks.

Didn't change anything. Re-reading my original post, I realize I wasn't clear on a point:
I can ping google.com and get replies from a command prompt on my laptop when I'm attached to the wifi router and the phone is in LTE mode, but my web browser (firefox) will not display the google home page. If I select CDMA mode on the phone, then I can get to google from firefox.
Since I'm getting ping replies, I doubt DNS is the culprit. Seems like it's something with port 80. I'm starting to think Sprint did something to block the app on the LTE network.
Just to check, I reset my phone to factory default and re-installed the app. Same results.
Anyone else having problems with this while on LTE?
Thanks.

I contacted the developer Fabio, and he thinks I need to change some settings in the APN IPV4 protocol. Problem is, I can't seem to find where to change the settings on this phone. They should be in settings>connections>more networks>mobile networks, but the options are not on that screen. I'm really starting to regret getting this phone. I love the phone itself, but Sprint did a few things to "dumb down" the ROM that just plain piss me off. OK, I get they took out native tethering so they could sell that option. I don't like it, but at least it makes some kind of sense. They also took out the option in contacts to send a incoming call from a given contact straight to voicemail. That just makes no sense whatsoever. Also, I don't like there are no custom ROMs for this phone. If I could get this phone with a plain vanilla Android without all the Sprint mods, I'd be in heaven.
Anyway, does ANYONE have Wifi Tethering working on this phone (LPH-600) with Sprint and LTE?
