ROM Manager ...
Ok, just re-flash the kernel containing the CWM recovery mode you want to have.
P.S.: I am running on RedPill kernel and the red recovery mode is also nice ;-)
But it is your decision to take the blue pill. And everything will stay as it is now.

I installed to factory firmware than flashed with kernel that used to give me blue but now it just still gives me the orange? What do?

Don't use Rom Manager/CWM together, I.E use/install one or the other. Rom Manager is notorious for breaking CWM and/or causing bootloops. Install one & stick to use it if you want to avoid problems. If you want to use CWM, uninstall Rom Manager.

Hmm. Phone only seems to like one rom

So I recently flashed to aospish_jk2_v1.0. Works just fine. But I wanna goof around with some other roms. But when I try to flash to other roms or my previous stock backup, it goes into the recovery flashing screen for about 2 seconds. Then the phone restarts and I'm in recovery. When I reboot the phone I'm still on the same rom..what should I do? Try to use odin to flash another rom?

are you flashing though the clock work recovery? Is the recovery letters blue or green?
I've found the best way to go between roms is always Odin back to stock, then install the new rom. That seems to prevent most problems.

I used rom manager to flash. But when in recovery letters are blue and it says android system recovery. So I'm assuming clockwork recovery actually hasn't installed?

You need to open rom manager and flash the CW recovery... from rom manager then click on flash to CWR... it will take you to stock recovery, click on reinstall packages.
now you are at CWR and can flash new rom.
Ah. My problem was that I never flashed ce recovery properly. Thanks guys.

You have to select reinstall packages, and it will go to the blue recovery again, then press reinstall packages again and clockwork should boot up everytime.
So i just have to keep on reinstalling packages until cwm works?? I think i will lose my superuser etc.. What zip file do i have to put on my intrnal card?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Once u are rooted you done need update.zip for root
What if i already rooted my phone using super one click root on my froyo 2.2? Do I still have to update? By update.zip?

After you used super one click root, delete that update.zip file that it places in your internal memory.
Then download rom manager, click flash clockwork-mod recovery and it should say boot into the blue recovery. In there click reinstall packages, and if it takes yiu to the blue screen again, click reinstall packages one more time and you should boot into clockwork from now on.
Ok thank you master and slave one more question do I still have to install the unzip thing from my internal sd? Or not a any more?

Since you are on 2.2, you need the modified 3e recovery. Then you should be able to get into CWM.
Or you can just use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=954509 and Odin back to 2.1 and not have any issues updating your ROM.
Reading all the guides helps alot with these questions.

The method I was giving you was for 2.1
Its easier to root from 2.1.
But the thread above should help
Another route around 3e recovery is to use a Voodoo kernel, because those have CWM baked right in. I recommend this because for whatever reason I couldn't get modded 3e recovery working.

[Q] Now that I have verizon 2.2 tell me how to fix CWM recovery

yesterday iwasaperson was extremely helpful to me. Thanks. I took my fascinate back to stock 2.1 and allowed it to update to 2.2. I then rooted my phone by flashing CWM recovery using ODIN. (red version) I had installed two files to root of drive one update.zip and the other for rooting the phone Su-----.zip. I ran them using the red version and restarted the phone. The phone is now rooted but I can't get back to CWM recovery.
I tried the following: I have ROM manager and flashed CWM but it wom't take. If I try to go into recovery I get the stock Samsung blue menu. I am thinking I need a different (CWM recovery comptabile) kernel or mod to get this to work.
Can someone help?
You need to flash a kernel other than stock, rebooting with the stock kernel will revert back to blue recovery

why dont you just flash CWM in odin again?
I have flashed CWM again with odin. It still won't take

This (though in reverse order).
You need to reflash CWM by odin, go into Odin immediately upon the first boot (not using Rom Manager!), and flash a new kernel from the SDcard. The stock kernel will trash CWM if it gets a chance to boot.
saf66. any ones in mind and where I can obtain them. And as if I weren't asking enough questions. (Sorry I know I am) Methods to flash them?
Or any others of you please
Go into development at the top of page open stickies and nitsu has a list of kernels,a well as roms

Why didn't you root using CF-Root or Siyah or SpeedMod, or any other custom Kernel that just comes with CWM recovery?
Don't use Rom Manager & CW Recovery together. Rom Manager tends to break CW Recovery/cause bootloops if you have both installed so use one or t'other.

I can't seem to get Clockwork installed why I used Rom Manager in the first place, Never had an issue with it on any other device.
Just seemed easier to use it to flash recovery and then flash whatever rom I damn well pleased.

Your choice f around with an app that is known to have SGS2 problems or flash a rooted CWM kernel that works .
jje
Siyah is good if you use gingerbread, great battery life, lots of kernel modules integrated (cifs, tun, etc.) DO NOT use Siyah with ICS based roms.
Yet another useless thread on a subject that has been discussed more times than anybody cares to remember. A quick and simple search would have given you the answer to your question.

RomRacer vs. Rom Manager vs. Touch CWM

Kind of getting lost in the Dev forum stuff, I flash every month or two but am not able to keep up reguarly.
Any reason to NOT use Rom manager? It seems romracers is preferred? Does Rom Manager have to pair with the CWM recovery, or can you flash the romracer recovery through rommanager and do your ROM flashes through rom manager (utilizing romracers recovery).
If that makes any sense haha.
I am currently on wet dream, w/ romracers from about 6-8 weeks ago. Is it possible to:
Install Rom Manager
Flash newest romracer recovery through rom manager via .zip
flash new ROMs via Rom Manager GUI?
Thanks
I personally use touch CWM for every ROM and never had an issue. I am curious too from other recovery users what they think of them.
You should add a poll to the thread to see which recoveries people are using.

Are you current on what recoveries are out there/available and what is working with what?
I'm still not clear on the interface between rom manager (haven't used it) as an app in the GUI and the recovery that we boot into via reboot + power + vol down.
I'll add a poll if I know what to poll

You get the rom manager recovery from the app itself along with the touch one too. Rom racers is in ATRIX development section.

So i guess my question is then, is the rom manager gui front end tied to the rom manager recovery? Or could one install rom manager (app) and use it with the romracer recovery?

If you try to use ROM Manager it will tell you that you need to flash recovery first if you have Romracer's recovery installed, so in essence they can co-exist, (meaning you can use both independant of each other), but to get full ROM Manager functionality you will need to flash the ROM Manager recovery through that app.
My personal preference is Romracer's recovery. Never had any problems with it at all. Touch recovery is too easy to make a mistake by touching the screen in error, and if I remember correctly you cannot backup to external SDCARD with touch recovery or ROM Manager recovery. Can't remember to be sure if that's correct so someone can point out my mistake there, but there are differences which make Romracer's more functional, so I have stuck with it.
