what is the best battery / kernel combo to extend my battery life...
I have tried 4th bar sense and faux kernel.. I am not impressed!

That combination is one of the ones that offer the best battery life. Recalibrate your battery and let it settle for a couple of days.

I use NRGs ROM and I Faux's kernel. Also, get an Anker 1900mah battery. My phone lasts for a pretty long time.

[Q]Do I have a bad battery?

Note that I'm running MIUI 1.6.3 with Platypus NEO-03 and the KB1 kernel. Does anyone else's battery drop by about 2% every few minutes?

Take your battery out lay ot on a flat surface and spin it.
If it spins good, you have a bad battery.
I read that somewhere but idk where ;p.
Condition your battery a few times. That being said MIUI is going to be known for horrible battery life until Sammy releases gingerbread source.

Uh? I was getting way better battery life on MIUI than in CM7.
@OP: Battery life sucks on all GB roms now, they are far from what Froyo offers, in term of battery life of course.
That said, my battery life improved greatly with this setup: MIUI + Platypus Revolutions Kernel + KB5 Modem + Juice Defender (optional). I was very happy with the battery life i was getting...but, i decided to go back to Froyo for awhile.

I didnt mention anything about CM7....
Said in general battery life on any GB rom is going to suck, well compared to 2.2 or 2.2.1.
I was on MIUI. Loved it but I hated the battery life Extremely SUX when it comes to battery life and I know also from using vibrant for the last year That it has Great battery cycles life.
I would install a stable rom for at least a day to see how its going
Hope that Helps

[Q] Battery drain problem - or is it just me?

Hi there,
just in advance: Yes, I have read quite a bunch of battery drain threads, but non of them seemed to help me.
Compared to GB, my SGS2 doesn't even seem to last more than a day in terms of battery life.
Now I wonder - is it just me playing around with (otherwise awesome) CM9 and battery life is actually normal or is there some kind of battery drain going on?
Running CM9 14-04, stock kernel, LPS baseband.
Attached please find BBS stats and other battery stats screenshots.
Help very much appreciated

Awake over 2 hours, 1 hr 43 min screen on, down to 62%. That's on track for 5.5 hours awake time, and about 4.5 hours screen on time. Looks pretty normal.
You MIGHT be able to squeeze a bit more juice out by playing with your sync and display settings, but that otherwise doesn't look that bad.

Sync is pretty much off completely and display brightness was on 'auto'...
the graph looks pretty good without gsf and alarm manager wakelocks
Have you tried to re-calibrate your phone? I once messed around with my battery and i lost 70% battery overnight when it was on 100% because i was unplpugging, plugging my phone in randomly.
How do I do that?
Just bought a 2000mA battery and it seems I still got the same 'issue'...

Did you try to wipe your battery stats? Also, I noticed that playing around flashing the Roms, requires 2-3 full charging cycles before the battery was "stable" again
I've also read the following but didn't try it (I imagine it does the same than wiping the battery stats in the recovery, but you never know, you can try it):
Delete batterystats.bin in data/system, after full charging (with Rootexplorer or another app)
Then, use it until to 90%, and full charging.
Good luck!
When is it a good idea to wipe battery stats? When it's empty or at full charge?

The CM9 has some battery drain problems because is still developing maybe try wiyth another rom and see if the problem remains

Stats seem fine to me. Your phone shouldn't drain much when idle, but once that big screen is lit up the power drains much faster. The SGS2 stock battery is not huge to begin with either. Your 2000mah will be better though, especially after using it for a few cycles. You can also try flashing a different stock kernel or custom kernel (Siyah, etc).

Thanks guys!
So charged my 2000mA battery up to 100% now and wiped the battery stats. Hope this helps.
I really wanted to stick to CM9, because I don't wanna do a factory reset every couple of days when flashing other ROMs, because I'm tired of setting up all my stuff over and over again...
Are the other ROMs really that much better? Thought that CM9 would be best, because most popular...
Or could it be the baseband/modem too?
I am on LPS right now... I've searched the forums forever, but can't seem to find an answer for:
What is the best baseband/modem for battery life?

flash then awful battery

I recently flashed my phone using amon ra, and flashed to rezound zone red. While I enjoy it I find my battery life has dropped a ton. Any advice?
Well, you don't flash the phone, you flash a zip. If you are having battery issues, it is probably unrelated to the theme. Make sure you don't have any background apps running.
takes a few charge cycles for the battery to calm. if after a few days it's not improved then it must be usage related.
thanks

first time i've rooted and was freaking after a full charge with extended battery lasting me about 7 hours. So the Rezound Zone Red rom won't be crushing my battery then huh?

highly unlikely rom related unless it's a fairly new developed rom from a new dev who didn't inject the code for working battery tweaks
7 hours? That is about right with an extended battery.
curious

If that's typical why do I see people taking about having such incredible batteries like "6 hours and down to84%"? Is there a way to under clock or prolong battery at all? I'm consistently closing apps and have display down. Prior to root and flash was going all day on charge with out ever worrying.
