[APP] Touch Control ClockworkMod Recovery - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Some very clever people in another part of the forum have come up with a touch control version of ClockworkMod Recovery and they've released the source code.
Does anyone fancy the challenge of porting this over to the Mini/Mini Pro?
The original post is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485829

For our devices and custom GB Kernel is faster to use the sources from Samsung Galaxi Mini: [DEV][UPDATE]ClockWorkMod Touch Recovery Lilg Version for Galaxy Mini and Squadzone / android_bootable_recovery
But probably it is better to use DooMLoRD sources that he use for Xperia devices (supported devices: Xperia ARC, PLAY, X10; HTC Flyer, JetStream): DooMLoRD / CWM-Recovery-Modded
NobodyAtall can probably use these sources and include it on next Kernel GB version?
Would be great!

We would just have to wait for nAa do it.
I am curious about why he don't managed to do this yet.
It's a hard job or there are limitations or something like that?

If I helped, please press Thanks.

I have a Play and a Mini Pro, and I don't use the touch recovery. I don't think there is the need to, unless there are not enough hardware buttons present.

Agreed, nAa kernel provides everything you need so theres no mistakes etc, what happens if you accidentally wipe data? Fat finger syndrome

The touchscreen implementation if not done correctly can also cause the recovery to crash. If you want a GUI based installer for a ROM, ask the dev to use AROMA Installer, I use it on my Darkforest 3 ROM and it works well on the R800i (Xperia Play)

Although I like the Idea of maximizing our devices capabilites and looking after those that have malfunctioning hardware buttons, I can only see this causing more problems than good!!
I have terribly fat fingers for a slim person haha I have more than enough difficulty trying to press widgets and icon links on my screen!!!
I'm not saying it's not worth trying out, but I don't believe it will make anything more simple or provide better functionailty to our mini's

Actually, very few guides takes you in great detail from stock to a custom ROM in a single guide in the amount of detail I've done and with references to all the relevant sources. It is not meant for the loads of hardcore users in here and would to you might seem like repetition. For non geeks however, the story is different.
But then again, I wasn't asking if you could use it, I was asking if you could find anything wrong with it or that could be improved
Thing is there is loads of feeds about rooting this phone and some do it difernt to uthers so don't wast space bud

[IDEA] XPERIA Play ROM

Dump Here:
For the key mapping, which i know would be an issue, i have ideas for that too
W - Up
A - Left
X - Down
D - Right
Home - Home
Back - Back
Menu - Menu
Search - Physical Z (Or On Screen Key)
Analogs - On Screens (We dont have analogs on our phones, so we need to have onscreen.)
For mini, we need To have it all Onscreen, but in Landscape mode they will pop up.
It should also be a option on the pro.
It would only work on the pro though because to use the sticks properly we need multitouch so I guess mini is out the window

Yeah, but wanna team up in creating/porting it?
man in pretty good with computers but i dont think i would be able to do something like this im not too good at coding i can do pc java and more basic android java but i think this would be real hard well maybe not the keyboard bit that might acrually be simple but sticks would be hard so we would probably need a guy like dark hes pretty good with apps
i think you can't port the control exactly
but my idea is port the control from a emulator app from the maket
This is how you get things done ,can't wait for this good luck lads

Not trying to kill ur idea but
Xperia play has much better specs than pro
Also when pro is overloaded there is an big delay from the keyboard
So right now it's impossible unless that rom will be ultra light

This is exactly what I was thinking about the port.
Xperia Play arm v7, and Xperia X10 Mini/Pro arm v6. It speaks to us about impossibility port!

I agree with this idea!

Can we have arc's camera application in x10??

Since flash on x10 camera is not working, can we install xperia arc's camera application on x10??
NOT POSSIBLE!
I think!
if we can install arcs launcher and other apps on x10 then we may also do it for camera...
Nope not possible. Hardware differences. It's been asked a few times already.
Different hardware and driver. It's imposible unless you have the source code of the camera app but it's still a hard job to make it work on X10.

flash works just like a photolight in default camera app, in my n82, after hacking the phone we could alter a lot of settings like compression for the images..maybe something like that can be done in x10..

(Request) 3.X.X linux kernel for Xperia play

http://kernel.org/
I've been using the 3.0 kernel for my kindle fire and its been really smooth and at least 3 times faster than the old 2.6 kernel and it even fixed the hardware decoding so I was thinking that it would be awesome on the Xperia play. If ur interested in building ask Hashcode for help he ported it for the kindle fire.
Thank you, Jeff

I don't think any 2011 line will get the 3.0 kernel.
Why? Its 2012 now, and we are on .32, which is way outdated. Updating would be a huge task.
Iirc .35 kernel was ported once but it didn't boot...

No, it would be wasted time in development while we could do more productive things ie: upgrade rotator, mdp, vidc, bcm4329 in our current kernel to ones in .35 kernel
CyanogenMod 9 Xperia Play
FreeXperia Project
Hmm. Now that sounds like more fun!

Yes, it will be
Although I will be very surprised because kamarush and another developer who I can't remember the name of ported the .35 kernel and it compiled for anzu... but it would not boot on the device: (

I truly hope for breakthroughs such as this since our wondrous device is no longer in the limelight with Sony Mobile turning their backs on us.
Off-topic sort of: I think that since I now have a workable MacBook (w/ OS X 10.7.4) at my disposal, I will start looking into compiling my own kernel for all Play variants. It's been a long time coming but I feel I really need to give back to the community here (& give you workhorses a break in the mix).

It isn't a huge task it is not a coincidence that e.g the Nexus S Works properly with ICS and has had suitable kernel upgrades.
Everything else will need hacking about with the way that tasks are killed.

Nexus S -> Google device -> Google maintain software/kernel -> always updated.
Xperia Play -> Sony Mobile device -> Sony maintain kernel -> not always updated.

some developers are already working months!! on this kernel.
they can't get it booting yet.
i dont know why sony is so lazy.most of xperia 2012 devices come with 2.3.7 with 2.6.32.x kernel and when they updated to ics their kernel also updated to new kernel 3.0.8+.
but xperia 2011 ics update does not apply kernel update.when kernel does not fit with hardware if you use best rom you again have problems and bugs with phone.
they can do it for xperia 2011 device as a same thing were does for xperia 2012 devices.
sry for bad english.:good:

Not that I know of, but I have installed once the one for sola I think it was and it worked, was laggish though.
Would realy be better if our CWM had the back button go up instead of back
so there is no dev that develop the touch recovery for us. but its better to at least have CWM i guess since my xperia p have not much developer like other phone.
It's not available openly but CM 11 has cwm touch recovery. I use it and there's nothing too special in it as our devices already have capacitive buttons
