whats a good rom to use - HTC Rezound

I am using rezrom 1.6 right now and i really like it but i was wondering what else is out there and no ics I tried a few and i dont like any of them.

They're all flavors of the same Gingerbread. Try them all see what you like...nobody knows better than you

um try them all out... they all are good and ICS is way better than GB IMO

MrSmith nailed it, no one knows better than you. I am a RezROM evangelist myself, though. I haven't had better on GB than 1.6. CleanROM gets a lot of love too... I just prefer themed ROMs in general. The BAMF Rezound Rom 1.02 is relatively old, but the BAMF tools are nice to have... I also like that the bloat is there but moved into downloaded apps so you can remove what you want.
Not that it matters, but I just went to CleanROM ICS 3.1 and I'm not going back to GB. Some of the working ICS features are so much better (e.g. voice to text) and I get unreal idle battery life. There aren't any bugs that bother me at this point. But that's just me, of course.
Best of luck in your search.

Why Gingerbread?

Can someone tell me where all the hype is about gingerbread besides having a tbolt n showing people that you have sw version 2.3? I just don't get it. Yeah sure it looks cool, but as we all know other Roms like BAMF (Sense or not) is just way sicker/snappier and more reliable. Sure all these GB Roms are in their early stages, but like I said, their more basic and the only true benefit I've been reading that people seem to be really concerned about is Netflix working. Obviously everyone has an opinion (like I'm expressing mine) just curious why GB has soooo much hype. Personally, with running BAMF 1.2 with Adryns 4.4.7 amongst other performance tweeks (I/O scheduler sertings, CPU settings without SetCpu etc...) My tbolt couldn't be more sick. So freaking snappy, great battery life, look n feel is so nasty that I just don't get the GB Hype... If netflix gets on this bad boy, I'd be more than set. Like I said. All personal opinion, but some good pointers/insight might help me understand. Until then, I'm more than content with my ridiculous fast more than stable Tbolt. Even if it doesn't "say 2.3.*..."

I admire your will power, for me I guess it was just wanting to try the newest thing and Sense 2.1. However i flashed the gingeritis III rom and it soft bricked my phone, would go to boot screen and at the end it would say Enjoy your HTC Thunderbolt and never get past that. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the ROM because according to the thread several people have this working just fine on their phone. I did follow the instructions to the letter but it didn't work, luckily I was able to restore my latest backup back to Das Bamf 1.6.3 remix.......WHEW!
I had a few Gingerbread ROMs on my OG Droid and I hated them. The ROMs were well developed and mature by the time I replaced the phone, but 2.3 in general was just super buggy and annoying. Stability, speed and battery life were a mess compared to the 2.2 ROMs on that phone. I don't know how much different it is on the T-Bolt as I haven't rooted mine yet, but from my experience, Gingerbread is stale right now. Too many problems to be worth the relatively minor upgrades.
You can't judge GB based on the roms made from this leak. The people using it now are either trying to help devs, curious, or just interested in the newest thing. Once GB got figured out for my D1 it drastically improved performance and battery life, as well as offered new features.
This leak is an alpha type of product, and there will be releases that are much more finely tuned and smooth. GB has many "unseen" improvements like JIT, as well as cosmetic and functional changes. Once some good stable releases of GB come out, it will be much more appealing. I do agree about the current Froyo roms being VERY good though. The BAMF roms and lean kernel have this thing working at near perfection...so I will be waiting for the "clean" GB roms to come out for my next daily driver.

Most Stable, Least Quirky ROM now?

Hello all,
I was just wondering what your impressions were re, the most stable ROM out now, the one with the least issues. Is there one that seems to be most hassle-free? I'm not nessasarily looking for a lot of bells and whistles...
Thanks!
Used to enjoy Theory's ROMs but felt that every few weeks he'd discontinue a ROM and release a new one. If you want a sense ROM that has a good following, I'm gonna be taking a look at SynergyROM, or if you want a non-sense ROM (AKA AOSP) I'd go CM7 (CynergyMod 7).
I'm aosp fan personally. I've used Cyanogenmod extensively, as well as Omgb. I'm currently running TheROM V4 and it is rock solid stable and very responsive. Not many bells and whistles. Just vanilla gingerbread.
It depends on what you want aosp or sense
For me I'm an aosp girl I'm running cyanogenmod 7 v1.7 loving it and. Ill give the kernel I'm using for battery life
If I don't want aosp anymore I always go to. http://teambamf.net/
I love das bamf! or if not go to http://themikmik.com/forumdisplay.php?1004-HTC-Thunderbolt-Developer-Forum I personal really like chingy's roms
I don't like Droid theory just saying
If you like sense, I really like Chingy's Gingeritis 3D.
Second vote for Gingeritis 3D. Stable and great battery life if you just use better governors.
Definitely the wrong forum, bro.
been rocking cleantheory to shiftsense for the past two weeks. both have been rock solid. DT is stopping development though, so take it for whatever that means. i think at some point all ROMS eventually lose development. hopefully whatever you choose is good enough for your daily driver if you dont like flashing over and over.
ShiftS3ns3 by DroidTho3ry rocks - give it a shot.
I think I'm going to give Gingeritis 3D a try. I'm not a pro at flashing new ROMs... i've only done it once (running BAMF 1.3 now). Is there anything special I should do? Is it just like flashing the BAMF ROM? (can I do it from ROM Manager?)
Thanks!

DT mentioned that he's taking a break, so hopefully he won't be gone too long. His work is better than stock.. HTC ought to hire him and get out of his way.
If you want Sense ROM, can't go wrong with SkyRaider Preview 2 or ShiftS3NS3.
If you want AOSP based ROM, SHIFTAO5P hasn't given me any problems whatsoever.
If you can live without the 3d, skyraider preview 2 is rock solid.
courtesy of my bolt and tapatalk
FWIW, I have been pretty pleased with the Synergy ROMs and I'd be running one now but...... I was one who fell victim to either the ROM Manager update or the CWM update and now cannot restore any of my backups. I tried various earlier CWMs w/o success and finally un-rooted, installed stock, did the OTA update and I'm back 100% stock.
I mention this because it's relevent to the question..... Battery life is good, the stability is excellent and, once customized to my liking, I really can't see much difference other than the "billions and billions" of crap apps VZW and HTC have added to the phone. If I could get rid of them I'd be just fine with the stock ROM believe it or not!
I'll probably re-root at some point and it's VERY likely I'll go back to the Synergy ROM because it works. I've had rebooting problems with other ROMs I've tried and I'm no longer in a mood to experiment, maybe later?
OK, it's later. I rooted, using Revolutionary, used Titanium backup to remove VZWs crapware and then figured why not? and installed the latest Synergy ROM.
I guess I just can't live with a non-rooted phone for 24 hours..... <sigh>
i keep trying out different roms all the time(sense & aosp based) and find that i'll keep going back to Synergy. it seems the most stable just i having issues with settling with just one rom.
Everyone has a different opinion on what stable is. I think CM7 is plenty stable, but there are those that disagree for whatever logical/illogical reason. Mainly, if you aren't prepared to encounter issues either brought up by your own experimenting or those of the ROM developer, I would stay with what the phone came with and be happy you have a phone that (sort of) works
If you are more brave, then read on.
If you read the comments about most ROMs, there is no such thing as a 100% infallible, will never ever let you down, stable ROM. ROMs are generally bleeding edge and users accept the fact they may have bugs in exchange for the phone doing more than what HTC and verizon allowed them to do. However, ignore most comments, because those are generally just people that screwed something up either knowingly or unknowingly. Like people that go the the hospital (for those that have family members that work at one), not everyone is ready to admit they did something stupid and have it on public display

Skyraider with Ziggy's kernel is EXACTLY this. It has average to good battery life though. Everything works, including it being compatible with call recording and incredicontrol (voltage control app). It also has the notification tweaks that no one has quite duplicated and I have grown to love.
I find Synergy to be an excellent rom as well, but the themes available do not suit me at all. It does support everything with good battery life and also adds HTC Hub which is awesome. It also has DConfig, which I just have not gotten a great benefit from but I guess some might.
The theory sense rom was smooth as silk, and seemed to be a happy medium between the first two I posted.
Chingy's rom is VERY slick, but very vanilla. The fact that it is Odexed makes theming harder I think, but for me that means I cannot replace the HTC browser with the AOSP one, and I HATE THE SENSE BROWSER lol.
ALL AOSP roms seem to have squashed most of the crappy battery issues and get great battery life now. This added to a FAR FAR FAR better bluetooth stack for better use with wireless devices like Jawbone, AND compatability with PS3 hardware make them an awesome choice. The ONLY problem is the lack of reliable network location. This means google maps works perfect, but your web browser can and will put you across the world sometimes, as well as weather apps etc. This rules it out for me for now.
Hope that helps
Shifts3ns3 has been the best for me, while I liked synergy, it had more bugs and seemed much slower to me, shift has the useful 3.0 features without the slowdown of a full sense 3.0 rom

whats better than bionix as of now?

what do you guys think is better than TW that i should try, miui?
Miui was pretty cool. Visually appealing but for me some apps didnt work and battery life sucked. I am using phiremod 2.0. It's a cm7 that in my opinion apart from bionix is the best rom I've tried I get great battery life and its really fast and reliable. I've been on it for about 3 months

If you want a good quality 2.2, check out Toxic8 or Deranged9. Both excellent ROMs with great support and outstanding battery life.
If you want the latest then ICS Passion is where it is at but make sure you are comfortable flashing ROMs, Odin and bootloaders. Oh and read, read, read.
I've been using ics passion 10.6 its great! no rom gives good battery life for me but this isn't any worse than stock 2.2 battery life
I am new to this stuff, but I flashed Zendroid a few days ago and love it. Super solid, no glitches at all yet. I have 25% battery right now after a full day's use and that never happened on stock. I love it, super clean, super smooth. I can't speak to "better" than bionix as I haven't tried that ROM yet. Just know that Zendroid is awesome.
I was on bionix 1.3.1 and was hesitant to try ics passion but the rom is smoother than I ever imagined.
Ok so I was looking at ics, and there's a ton where can get the best rom and kernels or is there a good site I can read about it?

Just look for the "ICS Passion v11" thread in the Development sub-forum. I recommend the stock kernel, only because it lags for me if I use Eugene's. Results may vary though, so you should try both and see which works best for you.
Sent through the XDA App on my Samsung Vibrant running ICS Passion v10.6
I think it really depends on the features that you're looking for. Personally, I don't really see the necessity to jump ship to a GB or ICS rom for the Vibrant just yet (if ever). Someone posted a pretty legit list on Fishman's mod noting the differences between Android versions that you should check out to see if updating is worth it for you.
+1 for bionix from me..
ICS Passion v11 is pretty sleek, but since there's no 1080p video recording I may have to revert back to Bionix.
The Vibrant is a better video recorder than my Flip- I'm not sure why they would cripple the video.
360 productions make some great miui roms. I prefer lithium. you could give those a try
I've been using bionix nextgen v2 for a long long time, and it's fantastic but I'd really like to make the jump to a GB rom.
Mainly because I can't stand the fact that my CM7 Nook Color can run apps that my Galaxy S class phone can't.
Only GB ROM I've tried so far was the first stable CM7 version, but no matter what I tried I couldn't get my GPS to work _at all_. Since I actually make use of my GPS on a fairly regular basis I went back to bionix nextgen.
Can anyone recommend GB or ICS roms that have good GPS performance (meaning they don't have that "turn off GPS once and you have to reboot to get it back" issue)? Been browsing through the roms listed in the dev forum, but I'd also like some extremely fresh personal feedback from other users here.
Thanks in advance all.

Would also like to know whether such ROM (GB with working GPS) exists...
Since my original post above I've switched to ICS Euphoria. It does have the GPS off = reboot to use it problem, but honestly leaving the GPS switched on all the time does not seem to have a serious impact on my battery life vs what I was getting before. In the end I'm fine making that tradeoff in order to be on modern firmware. ICS is _awesome_ and I don't see myself going back.

[Q] What would you say the most stable ics rom is??

I was wondering what you guys would say the most stable ics rom is??
Ive been using scotts senseless rom and its been ok just a few problems. before that i had his cleanrom but i just cant like sense that much something about it kinda turns me off..
what do you guys think?
ima add one more question to this thread.. Where i live my signal is finicky as it is but im thinking running ics has made my signal drop is this a problem or is it just me trippin out?

I'm running CleanROM 2.3 completely desensed and it's as stable as Gingerbread.
yeah i was thinking about going back to it to many system ui crashes and other lil bugs in the aosp roms is it updated to the 4.0.3 with sense 3.6?
&& how is it desensed?
I really didn't like the battery life on cleanrom 2.x or desensed. I switched to cleanrom 1.6.5 and getting nice battery life.
I found Nils business sense ICS to be the most stable. But the small pluses of ICS didn't make the cut compared to the battery life and ease of use of Gingerbread. Especially once the new wore off. Back to CleanROM 1.6.5 for me too!
All of the ics roms have the same root issues really- that being blue screen flicker, etc. I'm on nils currently cause I like his out of the box notification mods.
Ics rules but I think may go back to gb (until an official) for some issues that are irking me. Vid chat doesn't work on skype, gchat, etc. Can't crop pics or do certain effects in the gallery. Beats eq is not working correctly. Again, most of these are probs that follow all of the ics roms and the devs have done a fantastic job -but I may just end up going back until these talented folks get their hands on an official build. I think they've reached a point where there's not a whole lot left to do with this current build. But like I said, what they've managed to do with this early build is damned amazing.
i flashed back to clean rom and desensed removed everything and so far it seems alot more stables im not getting any word that things are crashing even when making calls like it did before not to shabby i say plus the gallery from the camera i was having that problem in senslessrom
You guys running ICS, can someone confirm whether the folders are the new ICS folders like the Gnex has.
do you mean the folders in the launcher? then yes if you have the stock ics launcher
I'm loving Business-ICS
The skins, overall stability is pretty awesome. The one huge issue is battery life. On stock, I had it to where I could get at average just under 2 days of battery with my extended (2750mah) battery. With this ROM, with almost nothing running, and leaving the screen low-use, and LTE turned off, etc, I still can't get more than 6 hours at BEST on a full charge! Is anyone else seeing this? Do I need to look at flashing to a ziggy kernel or something? Or is it just part of the leaked ICS that the devs have to work from?
I was getting 10 hours on my stock battery running senseless ics rom with a hour of navigation and pandora on pretty much the whole time (lte disabled) +texting+ facebook and what ever else and i was left with more than 25 %
I've been using Scott's senseless since it was launched its an awesome rom but alot of fc's figured I'd try tachi's senseless 4.0 (which is based off one if Scott's roms) with the USB fix and HTC mms fix and runs super stable best senseless ics I've tried so far. Sounds like there are some pretty good rooms on the way though. Feel free to try them all out and find what you like best though.

I must echo that Tachi's 4.0 rom is pretty good (with the fixes). I can't wait until we get a fully working AOSP rom. Scott's are good as well (the CleanROM 2.3 is actually a bit better than the Senseless, but... has Sense).

Yes, I'm talking about the launcher. When I had the GNex and I created a folder, it showed the icons stacked on top of each other rather than the plain folder that GB has. So the stock ICS launcher on the Rezound shows the icons like the GNex does? I'm asking because I was worried that Sense would not have that feature.

do not get ics all are unstable and i bricked my phone doing this well my friends extra phone I had to wipe the phone completely clen and starting over. I am downloading all roms tring to find something that works again. but like all post ineffabilis is the only one that comes close to restoreing the phone. I will update later to see if I can restore a dead phone but leave ics only until offical update.

Opinions on the ICS ROMs?

Just curious what people think of the latest ROMs, what the fastest, smoothest, best looking are, etc...
Been using Scott's CleanROM ICS a lot and really like it, but was thinking to myself, that most of them seem to credit the same devs for various contributions and things... so in the end, are they all pretty much the same?
I know that if you ask a Dev they will say how theirs is different, but I would love to hear from end users who have used them all extensively, which ones they prefer and why.
I think that they are all great, but perhaps some are better in certain areas than others, and so a conversation that lays all that out might be beneficial to people who want to just to an ICS ROM, but don't know what one is right for them, and the "trial and error" process might be more than they are able to willing to tackle.
For reference, CM7 that I had on the DX is my all time favorite ROM, and it is the benchmark for me, so any ROM I go to, is to try and get as close to that experience as possible.
Thoughts?

Ok, cool, I will check that one out as well. Just ran a Nandroid backup so I guess I am ready to experiment. All of these latest versions are based off of the latest RUU, so I should not have to mess with that, or kernels for that matter, correct? Just the ROM itself, and if I don't like it, a simple Nandroid restore?
Of course I have to wipe data and cache before each install, but other than that, nothing else to do?

I'm running RezROM and loving it. One of the best things about the Rezound is the list of developers. Whether it's Bored, Nils, or Scott, their ROMS are rock solid and well-supported. Other devs are excellent, too, but these 3 are the ones I look to first.
ive been running Rezrom 3.1 on old firmware with the patch and it seems very nice. only small issue ive has was it seems like ringtones want to go off the media volume and not the ringtone volume setting but i think that is being worked on for the next version.
my only concern on the current wave of roms would be whether it could run on old firmware or not.

I would assume that patching the new ROMs to run on the old firmware will be phased out. It will probably be around for a little while to make it easy for those who may want to go back to GB. Since the new ICS ROMs are pretty much rock solid the only real reason anyone would want to do that is for returning their phone though. Once the official OTA comes I'm sure noone will be making the patches any more. I could be wrong though.
I kinda hope they keep making patches personally, I for one, have had no rush to get the leaked firmware, unless a ROM blows me off my feet that requires it, none have yet.
I've got a feeling that once the AOSP ROMs are working properly they will probably be built around the new firmware. The battery life improvement was worth the 20 minutes or so to do the flash for me. I assume with the patch to run the old firmware with the new ROMs the data arrows are working? Kind of a small thing, but sure is nice to have them back. LOL
Cleanrom DE is pretty nice, has an aosp feel but still has some sense parts, seems pretty smooth but I can never get any of the ics launchers as smooth as sense was
They are all great!!!
Personally I don't like running non official firmware. When HTC releases the official firmware we are probably going to have to go through the entire process again anyways. Also if HTC doesnt deem it fit for official release then i am not using it unless I am having a major issue that needs to be fixed. I wonder if the New firmware would fix my ics performance issues though
I am running ICS now as a daily driver on the old firmware. It is still a tad slower than gb performance wise for me. I have gone back and forth a couple times. I can see why people would want to stay on old firmware or gb til official ics is release. Hopefully ics performs a little better when it becomes official.

I used to love Sense, but as time has gone on I've grown kind of sick of it, plus it takes a heavy toll on the battery and resources. So now I've been looking for something closer to AOSP. The first ROM I used was Xtreme Outcast's ROM. It was slightly themed and close to AOSP. He hasn't updated in a while so I've tried scrosler's CleanROM DE, because he's on the newest leak, and so far I really like it. It's got some Sense elements, which I still have mixed feelings on, but it's really smooth, and has improved my battery life loads.
I am still using the original ICS leak based off 4.0.1. I have put so much time into it, and have it running so nearly perfectly that I am hesitant to even bother with the more recent leaks and will probably just hold off until official ICS is out or until AOSP RIL is working.
