Just want root to delete bloat - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

All I want to do is root the Note to delete ATT bloat ware and stuff I wont use. Will that mess with my flash counter?
***EDIT- I'll be using titanium backup to delete the bloat, so I wont be flashing a deodoxed rom...at least until we can figure out a way to not mess with the flash counter.

If that is all you want to do (no overclock or flashing other roms) and you are worried about the flash counter, then you only need to do this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1518962
Edit: Note that there is no confirmed way to go back to true stock without tripping the flash counter

You can go back to stock by flashing the stock system image. It will not trip the flash counter because it is signed by samsung and only unsigned packages trip flash counter.

Have you tested this? Just curious because I haven't read where anyone has confirmed this yet.

Thanks all! I will give this a shot! Right now there aren't any ROMs that I am interested in or anything like that. I do remember reading that deleting any "rooted" apps will let this slide past the store workers at least if an exchange is necessary.

[Q] Flash Counter

Coming from HTC phones, I'm not very familiar with the flash counter. I know that there's a root method that won't trip the flash counter, but will flashing roms, like TPC for example, trip the flash counter? I'm trying to get a better understanding on what things will and won't trip the flash counter. Also, if flashing roms now will trip the flash counter, will there eventually be a method of flashing roms that won't trip the flash counter? I'm just wondering if there's any reason to wait or not when it comes to flashing roms.

basically flashing anything other than the system root will trip the flash counter afaik
And in due time, some one will probably find where Samsung hid it and find a way to reset it.

[Q] !HELP! Unroot ME7 & Question(s)

Hello I am on the new official ME7 update and it is ROOTED only. I am getting a replacement and I need to unroot this.
I found this stock image http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43420116 and wondering if this will unroot my device so I can get a replacement and warranty back.?
Also I read about the Flash counter and I am confused by this and have not seen anything to help.
Will only ROOTING trip off my flash counter? I have multiple things but different things and I have no clue. When I go into download mode everything says Official and stuff. Also I heard if I flash the stock image using odin to unroot it will trip off my flash counter, will it? If it does is there a way to reset the flash counter on ME7 since the bootloader is locked :/
Thanks!!!

I would post your request here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2313529 and DarkMenace will get you the info you need via PM. Pretty simple process and involves the factory image.

What base are you on?
The short answer is that whenever you need to do that, you can always flash a full-wipe factory signed ROM image, which will clear the flag.
When I was on MI1, I used Triangle Away to clear the flash counter and "Custom" flag with some experimentation.
I think that using that on MJ7 will set the "Odin Warranty Void" flag which is not currently recoverable.
So, don't worry about it until you need to sell your phone or return it. If you really need it cleared right now, you'll need to flash factory stock and lose root in the process.
I decided to remove root so that doesn't matter to me, do you know where to find a full wipe factory rom?

The easy way to a full-wipe is to use the Verizon Recovery Assistant - plug your phone in to your PC and a drive will show up with the recovery assistant.
Otherwise, search the "Android Development" forum for your build for the appropriate full-wipe ROM.
Please keep in mind that doing a full-wipe install may make it impossible to root in the future.
I won't be rooting again, thanks for the help.

Unroot the S4

I just heard about the impending release of 5.0.1 for the verizon s4.
I rooted my friends s4 a few months ago, and unfortunately, he just has not found it to help him much. I am relatively sure he would rather have lollipop.
So my question is this
How do I unroot his phone (on the latest NK1 firmware) without losing any data. He really wants to keep all his stuff exactly the way it is.
Thank you!
SuperSu has a unroot function, but it MIGHT brick the phone. Best thing to do is get the NO WIPE TARS for NK1 and use Odin..

Could you give me link on a tutorial for that or something? (no wipe tars didn't give me anything relevant on google)
Thanks!
It's not just unrooting. He will need to have all the stock apps, and if he changed any stock files, they will need change back. Nest bet is to use Odin and reflash the stock ROM.

He hasn't done any of that. The most he has done is installed Xposed, and he didn't find it compelling. Can the rom be reflashed without erasing the data? He is going to be real mad at me is I have to reset his phone to get him 5.0.

How to make Odin backup/image of current ROM

I would like to know if it is possible to create a Odin image/backup of my current ROM, yes i know there is cwm, twrp and nandroid but those are not options without tripping Knox on the s6.
Thanks
not that I know..but why not simple download your firmware..and back up the rest with Samsung backup or similar..
I already have a download of the factory and updated firmware. I would like to be able to have my own backup with everything all in one, I guess it is not possible unless you trip Knox
I rooted with pingpong tool without tripping knox and then used flashfire to make a backup of my rom. Knox still not tripped.

I'm curious did you use this guide? http://gs6.wonderhowto.com/how-to/c...without-tripping-knox-your-galaxy-s6-0162153/
My concern is that this is not capturing the entire ROM b/c the system is active. I assume the backup is a zip so you you would need to install flashfire again to restore. This will not do me any good. I would like to flash the phone back to current state using Odin so i don't have to go through hoops installing apps to get the system back to the current state it is in now.
Can you use the flashfire backup and use Odin to flash the phone? I don't think so but I'm not sure, hoping someone with more flashfire experience can chime in.
Thanks
Flashfire can do a full backup including the system partition. However, I'm not sure whether the backup can be flashed via odin. I agree it would be good to know if this is do able.
Thanks, i asked the question in the flashfire thread on here and hopefully someone can chime in. If that is the case than this is a great solution for a full backup and easy Odin restore.
@arf8
I may have found a possible solution for you without using flashfire. Check out: http://forums.androidcentral.com/dr...create-custom-odin-images-backup-restore.html. Kindly post the results if you do try this method. Thanks.
Funny you posted that b/c i saw that website from my web search, the problem is the phone does not have an SD card so without risking bricking the phone i don't think it will work
