Hello guys, i know it must be in somewhere in this forum but i just can't find it (and i searched a lot). I'm new at this stuff of using custom rom's so here it goes:
I have a Xperia X10 Mini with the following stuff:
Model Number: E10a
Version: 2.1-update1
Band Base Version: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404006
Kernel Version: 2.6.29
Version Number: 2.0.A.0.504
Im from Brazil and i want to upgrade my version number to the lastest one to be able to do the custom roms and stuff i guess the latest one is 2.1.1.A.0.6 right?
How can i do it? I already tried with SEUS and it gives me that "I already have the latest version of my software installed", tried to reinstall the software by SEUS and it only got me to the stock 2.1-update1 SE rom, with the same 2.0.A.0.504.
Can somebody help me please? If need more information just ask me! Thx everyone!
Download SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update service) from SE site and update ur phone. Or else use PC companion (i prefer SEUS) , you can get that as well from SE site.
You need flashtool
get it here: http://rapidshare.com/#!download|942l36|448500453|FlashTool_0.2.7.1.exe|51239
And The 2.1.1.A.0.6 software
get it here: http://rapidshare.com/#!download|504l36|452584464|E10i_2.1.1.A.0.6_Generic.zip|116883
And here is the instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943645

Dude, isn't that just for X10? Mine is X10 Mini.. E10a wouldn't that be a problem?
No isn't a problem.Flashtool is for all Xperia family.

Thanks!
And is there a problema to update from a E10a firmware to a E10i firmware?
Do you know where i can download (a link in the forum maybe) a 2.0.A.0.504 stock? Just to be safe if something goes wrong and i install it back?
Or i can do it by SEUS?
Sorry because i'm a totally newbie about it. I just want to learn before do it.

Hey bro,
the best thing to do it to download the flash-tool and the appropriate fw for your e10a.
Here is the link for flash tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943645
That should explain everything you need to know.
Cheers,
evilbarcode.
EDIT: Do not download e10i instead of e10a, if your device is the e10a the problem with downloading e10i that is it will lock up the bands your sim provider uses to get you signal. e10i is gsm and e10a is the new cdma or whatever it is called now. well thats what ive been told. Someone can correct me if im wrong.

you will probably not be able to recieve 3G... But you can easily flash over the e10a baseband without deleting any user data
Well at the moment you wont be able to flash e10a, as I (and probably neither you) can't find E10a 2.0.2.A.0.24 (baseband 006) nor E10a 2.1.1.A.0.6 (baseband 015)
I've promised Blagus to work on getting the e10a firmwares So when I do I'll send the e10a bb015 firmware to you

Actually i'm on MiniCM-RC1(Froyo) and i'm getting 3G all the way. Tested it and everything.
My old E10a had that .504 the old one. I saw that firmware somewhere in this forum, but everything is ok until now. Let's see what happens!

se x10 mini pro u20a on baseband 015?
I think perhaps baseband M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015 will run 3G on 900/2100Mhz, so if you use this on your U20a (E20a?), you can still get 3G, but maybe only on 2100Mhz.
NOT 900 (hardware for U20a does 850/1900/2100 I think) and
NOT 850 (since baseband 015 only does 900/2100)
I have a u20a with stock baseband M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404006 - it gets 3G on 850/1900/2100Mhz.
I'm just trying to clarify this, cos I want to use Owain's cyanogen 8 mod, but it requires bb M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015 and I don't want to lose my 850Mhz coverage...
Am I a clueless Noob, or does this make sense to anyone?
Anyone else out there have a U20a running custom roms and getting 850Mhz coverage and care to share how you got there?
cheers,
Rich

Hey bro,
Yes this does make sense. I have u20i so i cant confirm whether or not it works that way but i guess it would all depend on which freq your service provider uses (i know you posted that) but using flashtool you can go back to what fw and baseband you previously had installed. i do notice tho that you have the old build number. Whats up with that? Has an update for 2.1 not been released in aussie? I dont mean the actual 2.1 update from 1.6, i mean an update to the 2.1 fw itself. I guess unless someone can confirm i would just go for it and see what happens and if it dont work then flash back haha. But do a xrec backup first then if you need to go back it wont be so hard. If you need i can even recreate and update.zip for you from your xrec backup. Anywho, let me know if i can help some more.
Peace,

The baseband version (006/015) shouldn't affect your reception! What will affect your reception is wether you install e10a (u20a) or e10i (u20i) - The a-versions are for CDMA networks while the i-versions UMTS networks
u20a firmware
Thanks for the quick answers guys -
@Orkeren : I think you're right that I need to install u20a firmware, not u20i in order to get reception on the right bands. I just need to find some u20a firmware with an up to date build so that I have a good chance of getting custom android builds to be compatible with the phone firmware (if I read the forums right). The u20a us still UMTS, not CDMA, it just uses different frequencies - in particular 3G is 850/1900/2100 instead of 900/2100.
@evilbarcode : Yep, I do have an old build (2.0.A.0.504) which cannot be upgraded ota with my carrier. I'm thinking of flashing the brazillian u20a firmware linked above with flashtool (which may have build 2.1.1.A.0.6 or at least be able to be updated to that with SE's online update tool SEUS) and then install a custom rom like miniCM or gigglebread that needs 2.1.1.A.0.6 "for kernel compatibility."
I have downloaded clean firmware from SEUS (for my carrier), got those files from C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\13740270\blob_fs and decrypted them with flashtool, so I can revert to this if I get stuck. I already did this to test, which worked ok except my screen didn't come back on after power saving a couple of times (WTF?) until I did a firmware repair with SEUS again.
Questions to anyone who may know :
1. Is the baseband hard linked to the build number?
2. Is the baseband specific to a model #? U20a/i E20a/i If anyone has or had a stock u20i on bb 006, or a u20a on bb 015 we can answer this. I know the e20i and u20i both use 015
3. to revert to baseband 006 if I need different bands (am only assuming this) what .sin file(s) should I flash back?
4. Is there really any difference in firmware between the a/i versions, or is it all in hardware? I have yet to find a certain opinion on this, though it makes sense that there would be a difference.
Gonna experiment a bit and I'll let you know how I go...
cheers, and thanks again guys,
Rich
How to get 2.1.1.a.0.6 on your u20a!
Looking good so far.
I just used flashtool to put u20a brazillian firmware onto my Australian U20a handset. I downloaded the one linked on xda's thread for the u20a (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=777660) which came up as baseband 006 and build 2.0.A.0.504 (same as my Telstra U20a stock).
Using SEUS downloaded from SE, this successfully updated to bb 015, build 2.1.1.a.0.6! Unlike my Telstra firmware which would not update with seus.
I will use flashtool to decrypt the SEUS downloaded files and make another zipped fw for those who want to skip a step.
Now for some custom fun ! (rubs hands together with glee)
Rich
userdata
btw I did not flash userdata.sin and kept my apps and settings.
So far so good.
Hello,
I'm from Chile and we use the CMDA standard, and I have an X10a. I have an X10 and I've flashed some stock ROMs with 2.3.3 (with FlashTool because the SEUS doesn't recognize the update, even with a 2.1 generic ROM) but I'm having some issues, mainly with WiFi and the operator. It keeps sending me messages about some service that's not activated (I don't have plan data but I've deactivated all the connections on the X10) and other issues.
My doubt is, it's supposed that I've installed the generic ROM in my phone (the one that's on the FlashTool post) and it doesn't matter if your x10a or x10i, but could this difference indeed exist? Could it be that the one I've installed isn't the generic? The one I installed is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746&highlight=flashtool
Thanks a lot,
I want to share an experience I had with a X10 mini pro U20a.
The phone was stock 2.0.A.0.504, baseband 006. I unlocked and rooted the bootloader and tried to install the naa kernel. Obviously I've caused a bootloop.
I searched the 2.1.1.a.0.6 for U20a everywhere and didn't find anywhere. All the links to download the firmware are offline. SEUS and PC Companion don't upgrade the firmware, tried to use the build.prop from "u20a info thread", tried to change manually. SEUS always flash with the same firmware, the 2.0.A.0.504 and baseband 006. I sent pvt messages to some members from the forums, one of them tried to help me but apparently didn't found the files... I tried SEUS and PC at least 7 times, using different approaches, no way.
Finally, I found a way to upgrade U20a to 2.1.1.a.0.6, keeping 3G (using a u20a firmware).
I'm not affiliated with the site below in any way. I didn't know this site before... I used this:
http://www.wotanserver.com/en/sony-ericsson/se/xperia-mini-pro-sk17/unlock-tool/debranding-flash
I installed the wotan client, register in the site. In the software, I selected the firmware 2.1.1.a.0.6 for Brazil ( the name is Generic Trade Brazil). In the name, there's a "X10a mini" (dont worry, its for u20a). That's the firmware I used. After the install process, the phone still a U20a, but with baseband 015. In the client, be sure the phone selected show as "U20".
After this upgrade, I was able to install the naa kernel, and MiniCM7 2.1.9.
I searched this info in the forum, but I didn't find nothing.
Hope this helps other's searching for the 2.1.1.a.0.6 to use on U20a.
THanks for the data. I from Argentina so I need the U20a .06 FW for the miniCM9. Sadly, now you need to pay 1.99 EUR for using Wotan services. Small price for getting back 3G Network.
I've got bad reception. At home sometimes no bars, no reception, or sometimes 1-2 bars. If I get to a window I get 2 bars tops.
Outside it sometimes disconnects and I have to reboot.
Drives me nuts.
I have another older smartphone at home that's 3g - same carrier - full reception.
In Neo V Battery life is bad. At "about phone" I see it changing all the time, I didn't have the chance to check outside, but due the constant disconnections outside I figure it's also changing.
Is changing the baseband the way to go?
The original BB was 4.1.B.0.587 baseband (77)
Now it appears as 8x55a-aaabqoazm-203028g-77 (under "about phone")
I'm running CM10 nightlies
If I put the wrong baseband can it brick the phone?
Should I flash 4.1.B.0.587 baseband (77) on cm10 (JB)?
Any better baseband than 77 (I'm Israeli on a 850/2100 network)?
Lots of question, you don't have to answer all, any help would be greatly appreciated.

As u say it appears on 77 in about phone, its already on 77 baseband of .587 firmware.. I don't know whether you have got the update of .13 firmware in your place but as far as i know, there isn't any ftf file available for .13 firmware.. The new firmware comes with a new baseband too.. So till then 77 is latest.. just give it a check though.. I told you whatever i knew..

@veepe:
Try different SIM Cards if they give you full reception, it maybe the problem with your SIM Card.
If this doesn't work,
Try reinstalling everything from the scratch. First, Flash ICS .ftf using Flashtool & start your phone.
Check if you have proper network.
If there is proper network, then flash kernel from CM10 zip, Install ROM via Recovery, Then check your network.
Now if the problem occurs, it means the problem is with the CM10 ROM. Then you'll have to wait until it's fixed & stay on stock ROM or try other ROMs...
For more refer this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590383
well, i tried everything - all basebands, flashed different stock firmwares with original kernels for both mt11i and mt11a (mine) - no improvement.
It's definitely something in the phone, the sim works great in another phone. Tried 3 diff sims in the problematic phone.
I'm thinking it maybe related to a water damage I had a few months ago. I went to a lab right after that for a preventive treatment, maybe something's wrong with the hardware.
If changing softwares isn't working, there is a high chance that this is a hardware problem. You should get it repaired then...
Good Luck!
