Hi guys, can someone tell me how to get my P500 perform fastest it can? What ROM is fastest, and i don't care about battery, just want it to be the fastest it can! And also what aditional tweeks and programs/kernels to instal to make it faster?
In this moment i am using mic_os 6.5.7 android 2.3.5 CPU 825/245 Mhz Performance, with only settings, LG keyboard and setCPU running apps using 83MB of RAM alltogether, highest score i got is 1317 points, and about 1250 average.
Is this the fastest this phone can go...? :/ I have seen some posts where some guys got it too like 1500! That is my magic target number! Soo, any help..?

NightlyFourE + Franco.K #4 + Ungaze data2sd
Try popdog123 oxygen 2.6 with Franco #4. 825/480 performance/sio.
Add ungaze data2sd with 1gb ext4 and p500 will not run fast. It will FLY SLOW.

try this : see my signature there the neocore result, and the rom name too
Use cyanogenmod nightly @ 787MHz + PERFORMANCE Governer
Thx guys for replies, i will test these combinations one by one and post results here...
Also will test new ICS beta4.
This is what i came up with till now, will update it soon! If you have any more suggestions, please tell me...
I also tried to play HVGA (with sound) version of GTA 3 on all ROMS exept ICS and i must say that the Perfectpeso2.2 was frikin fastest, still lags pretty much on GTA 3 but playable. too bad in this one is clock cap at 806 mhz...:/
And i am pretty dissapointed in ICS results, cuz it is soo nice looking and fresh but damn slow...:/
i didn't use Ungaze cuz it just makes files between phone and SD card move more faster, right? Soo i don't think it will improve gaming speed...
i will put an ICS to my phone to test it for few days and see if it is nice, but after that, i am definately going on Perfectpeso! At least ps1, and Mame 32 games will run smooth now!
And if anyone knows a way to play full HVGA version of GTA3 on P500 please reply! But i think that ripped version will now run smooth! (the one with lower graphics and no sound)
Results: I choose the best results i got from these tests...and exept ICS there is a little difference in power between these ROM's as you can see in benchmarks:
1.NightlyFourE + Franco.K #4
825Mhz
a few runs
Quadrant standard - around 1300
3 runs
Neocore - 62
2. Perfectpeso2.2
806Mhz
3 runs
Quadrant Standard - 1336
3 runs
Neocore 806Mhz - 70.8
3.CM 9 Ics Beta 4
806Mhz
3 runs
Quadrant Standard - 946
4.oxygen 2.3.2
806Mhz
3 runs
quadrant standard - 1307
3 runs
neocore - 63.1

Well I just want to share my experience with this launcher on defy. Still in beta, need to improve alot of things (configuration, more widgets...). But looks promising. I really like it. The big problem -at least for me- is that runs a bit slow. I think the program eats too much memory since my cpu monitor shows nearby always the minimum speed possible (300Mhz).
My configuration is UK froyo 2.2 with pays 3.0 or something and setvsel 1200mhz.

Pays-rom eats quite a lot of RAM ya know?
Shell 3D is amazing! Blazing fast!
I used Pays-Rom 5.1 I liked it a lot but I was getting to much freezes and lags.
I switched to LiquidArc and running SPB Shell 3D on it and it's super smooth (41fps)
Also clear you apps cache it may improve speed.
Btw 1200Mhz is too high it can affect performance try around the 1000-1100 Mhz.

Yeah i know pays isnt de best of best, but I'm waiting to see what happens in the next months to change my rom (maybe unlocked bootloader or cm7 port comes).
But i don't understand what you say that 1200Mhz can affect perfomance? I set 1200 because I play FPSE.
thanks for your reply.
The CPU needs more than 64vsel to run stable @ 1,2ghz and more than 64 vsel/1,4volt damage and slow down a 40nm² cpu

That's what I mean!! 1200Mhz can, be unstable, heats up your Defy (40-45'C!!) And eats battery like hell.

I am using sbf 3.4.2 155 with 162fix ans spb mobile shell 3D and in ta work very fast.
It takes too many RAM,my device cannot work well
La vera que ami tambien me parecion muy lento, lentisimo!!! es muy atractivo, pero tiene esa gran contra =(
i have tried it, it was laggy as hell.
I tried this on my Defy stock 2.1 (Update 2.59)
Worked well, however I noticed that CPU utilisation was a bit high. I mean in stock form the CPU used to get @ 600MHz frequency during normal browsing but with Shell3D launcher it used to run @ 800Mhx frq most of the time.
I know this is quite natural considering the 3D widgets & all the cool effects, but I uninstalled it so as to save some battery.
cyanogenmod 7 running spd 3d shell is smooth like silk, even with 900mhz only. i believe non overclock CM7 can run this easily.
on 2.2, running spd 3d shell with OC 1Ghz lag like crazy!
so install CM7, buy Quarx a beer, and enjoy spd 3d shell!

i got mine for free...and it is working smoothly...1.7 ghz
My moto defy woks it very well, fast and smooth. My CPU **** is the original one 800MHz.
Real smooth on cm7, no lag at all, 800mhz (no OC) and scoring 1700 on quadrant.
one issue with shell 3D is taht it resets the launcher back to stock whenever you press the Home key again... Is there any way to change this..Its really frustrating that you loose all your customized panels & widgets just by clicking the home key?
WTH... is there any way to relaunch the shell3D launcher with your customized settings? Its still installed in your phone, its just that I cant relaunch it.. need help.
Running this on CM7 and it's amazing. When I first installed it, it was laggy as hell but after a quick reboot its running without ANY lag. I'm overclocked to 1.2GHz which I'm sure helps too
I'm using the spb and it works really well, in cyanogenmod 1.5 rc

Hi there. Why am i getting only about 1000 quadrant score, while everyone getting somewhat like 1500 on the same roms?
Do i have a different hardware or what?
Different roms will get you different results. Gingerbread roms appear to run around 1000+ while Froyo roms run closer to 1300+. Run it a few times and you should get a better score. Quadrant doesn't really matter too much though. What's important is how the phone feels for you not what a graphic tells you.
Thanks for reply, but the problem is that i'm having different results than people on the same rom.
And does the quadrant score affects on how smooth the games are running?
Do you have a lot of apps installed on your internal memory? The "cleaner" the phone is the more optimized. Junk apps will definitely decrease performance. As for running games, quadrant doesn't affect how smooth your game is running but does show performance measures that could be related to efficiencies of your phone. Theoretically, the higher the quadrant score the better your phone will be at running your games.
What file system are you using...quadrant takes your free space for apps in score consideration..
If your using data2sd and have 2gb for internal(ext2,3,4) then quadrant is going to show a better score than those on rfs.

No, i have taken stats from fresh install, also tried different roms, but never got higher than 1000.

No, i am not using data2sd and i guess those people who get higher score than me not using it too.

Oh ok..
But my point was having lesser apps and having more. Internal space will increase the quadrant..
Sent from my GT-I5800 using Tapatalk
Which rom(s) are you using?
FYI - Fresh install of 2.1 will only get you around 500. JIT enabled gets you around 600+, removing additional junk apps will get you 700+. 2.2 Roms will get you over 1000+ easily. Z's Froyo beta 3 got me around 1500+. Others including Gingerbread hover around 900-1300.
I have tried CM7.0.3 J020c and trip's froyo.
In both roms my quadrant is about 1000, but for other people trip's rom giving them about 1400-1500.
I am on wolfbreaks rom..(as per my signature)
The only other thing i do is move all aps to the sd card that can be moved and leave the ones with widgets on my internal memory.
I average about 1450 to 1550 with my best score of 1609.
Run it a few times as well..
On J's rom I run around 900-1200. Never tried running quadrant on Trip's froyo but on his Arc rom I get around 1000-1250. Again, quadrant isn't that big of a deal. Your games will run fine on your phone. Remember, try to have more free internal memory and get rid of junk apps you don't need.
on wolfbreaks rom. i move all apps to the sd card (except widgets)
1300 - 1400
Okay, thank you, guys, quadrant isn't important, but it's kinda wierd that i'm having lower stats than other people.

Its not weird at all. Everyone has different apps and settings which affect benchmarks differently. Higher Quadrant scores don't neccessarily translate to better performance either so why does it matter. Also in order to get reliable scores in quadrant you need to run it twice in a row as the OS will kill apps and adjust as the test runs the first time and the second test is always higher and more consistent.

If I (or anyone for that matter!) help you, dont be afraid to press THANKS!
First I was running Coderom 2x-2b and everything was great then i flashed gingerreal 1.1 and my quadrant score was maximum 1000 but it was fast and snappy then I flashed Fla.Sh X2 and factory reseted and wiped the cache and it's even faster than Gingerreal but the Quadrant score is still low!!
What's the problem???
Quadrant has a bug with 2.3.4..... The results are irrelevant.... Coderom is based on 2.3.4... flash & gingerreal are based on 2.3.3...
Don't depend on those scores to judge a rom...
Ok, I wasn't depending on the scores or anything coz the rom is so fast and excellent but I just wanted to know what's wrong because other people get high scores
another quadrant score fetish. lol
lol... I never check quadrant... just use the phone for a day or 2, and you would know which is the best suited rom for you..
If u do rely on quadrant than don't take into consideration the final score.. just check the graphic test part (2d and 3d) and compare the FPS.. the higher the better..
i have franco kernel 2.6.35.14 & overclocked at 729 using setcpu
Why my quadrant score is only 886, have seen some quadrant result for optimus one that reaches around 2000. How they do it?

886 - suppose you use stock Gingerbread, it's normal as it's not optimised and doesn't have the performance patches found in oxygen or cyanogenmod rom. Actually all it matters is user experience - if it's smooth enough and can handle other things good enough you don't need to care about benchmarks, and benchmarks are just for showing off.
Reaching 2000+ is a result of using a2sd and its variants. It doesn't really matter as it's only a small little boost to performance.
Dude use antutu benchmark..quadrant is no longer reliable ..it shows fake results with a2sd n 0ther shyt..you know what ? When i was on miks rom +franco kernel+ungaze+zram i got a score of 2600..but performance was nt that great n battery drain was huge ..now wid 2.3.3 based roms like openoptimus, blackbird ,aga etc my phone is even smooth n efficicient..however a differenece of 250~ (antutu)is ppssible between cyan roms etc nd official gingerbread based ones..
Sent from my LG Optimus One P500 using xda premium
Antutu isnt a good benchmark too, with a better SD you will have a better score... Nenamark is another good benchmark
None of the scores really matter, its just the user experience which matters
yup got the answer result is not important.
After installing franco kernel phone became smooth as butter with increase in speed by overclocking.
Thanks Guys
hey guys.
i have been wondering about this problem for a long time, and i could not find a solution to it. Thus, i wanted to ask you guys about it. The max i can overclock my phone to is 748. whenever i try to raise it to about 768 or 787, the phone will freeze and restart. is it due to the hardware limitations of my phone? or isit due to some software limitations?
Please help.
Just Hardware.
(I can overclock to 729 )
Hi. I'm still using Gingerbread stock rom 2.3.3 but with latest franco's kernel. My max. clock is 710Mhz. Anything above that, my phone will get freeze very often. Is there any recommendation on what should i set for my min. clock as well as the Governor?

I use stock 2.3.3 v20g + franco kernel and set max clock at 729Mhz, sometimes it freeze, but normally work fine (with any gov).
Each CPU is a little different. My OV is stable at 600 with smartassv2 but once I step it up to 729 the phone will randomly freeze or reboot.
Sometimes you get a good cpu that can be OCed a bit, and sometimes you get one that can go no further then stock. If you can OC then consider yourself lucky.
Whenever you try to increase the max frequency beyond a certain limit the CPU can not handle that and tells the kernel about that and kernel starts to Panic... (reboots or freeze)
For example My phone remains stable upto 768 MHz (usually i keep it at 748Mhz....)
but if i increase it to beyond 806 MHz it starts to panic...
Hardware
Has differences on hardware, already tried with 2 differents P500, one could overclock to 768 Mhz, the other can reach 800Mhz without freeze.

Since all the p500 have same hardware, they can be OC to same max frequency if they have same software config...
806! never freezes but she gets warm! can get over 40 celcius

where did u get ur facts?
are u smart or just effin noob?
yours preferred governors????
actually the best one is....
Dude keep it around 652 and interactive otherwise UR Battery will drain fast
depends on ur ROM+kernel combo.
on oxygen v1.1 i smoothly ran on 480-768 and battery lasted around 2 days with average use.
Now on Cm7 nightly, equally smooth at 729-480 and battery is awesome too..
Overclock
Ohhh!!! lucky guys.. my phone only accepts 672Mhz at max or anything above that value leads to rebooting or freezing.
Rom: Cyanogenmod 9 (Android 4.0.3)[BETA4]
Kernal: Franco Kernal - 4
OC: 480/672 Max
I get 748MHz completely stable when pushing "performance" governor with franco #4.
But irrespective, this is not about bragging...one would see LITTLE real life difference (save for frying the CPU faster) going above 672MHz. Don't just look at synthetic benchmarks...feel your phone.
Oh...and it was mentioned multiple times that 600->806MHz uses the same voltage hence the same power consumption for Sidestep CPUs.
I am running max CPU @ 729 and it has been running smooth for days with no freeze/reboots, I also noticed having the Governer on Performance has helped my battery life and such, i havent noticed the phone getting any warmer whatsoever so no problems with heat, Also I am using a LG-P504 Optimus One which Ive heard is the final release for this phone, so maybe its more stable than the pervious versions.
My p500 can handle 768 max. With some kernels 787mhz. But i am running 245-710 with miui v4: lol:
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
Yea mine can handle that too but it drains my battery faster I've noticed. So now I run Max @ around 720 which seems quite stable!! Only time I use the nitrous feature also is with playing more top end games which I otherwise wouldn't be able to play without really low fps.
Sent from my LG-P504 using XDA App
Im using cyanogenmod nightly 7.2.0 build 34 on 748 mhz with any governer and it's working very well.OC also depends on ROM's.each ROM has different capabilities to OC...
