I can't believe how accurate my Note's barometer is? Every hour I was comparing my Note's barometer to Weather Underground and it was dead on. It rose all day long and showed exactly what Underground was showing. I live less then a mile away from the weather station Weather Underground was using. I'm using barometer pro. Nice gauge widget with lots of options

Ever see one of those multi-sensor watches with barometer/altimeter/compass? The Note does all of that and more. Nice for hiking, as a backup for a pilot, etc.

@thinguy
Similar to agps in that it is supposed to speed up gps fix. It is used to rough calculate altitude which is then used in conjunction with gps.

Well, they do have something to do moisture, high pressure usually means fair weather and no precip, low pressure usually means rain and/or snow.

Does anybody know an app for measuring time that a car needs to accelerate from 0 to 100kph (or 0-60mph) based on GPS data and would not only show the time it made, but also a speed progress each second written into a graph?
Thanks a lot!
You want TORQUE ... Get the paid version. Works with bluetooth OBD2 scanners.
Thanks, but I don't have na OBD2 control unit.
You can get a cheap obd2 adapter from Ebay for about $20. I have one and it can be finicky at times but it works.

Accelerometers, yes. Gyroscopes are now in many phones but older or cheaper phones may not have them. Reading around the web suggests most mid and high end phones this past year or so have gyros, but there are still exceptions. Searching the web also brings up a running list on another forum:
http://androidforums.com/android-lounge/308045-androids-gyros.html
This list is not necessarily accurate (Vivid has a gyro, and the Razr has the hardware but conflicting reports on it being engaged at launch) but it reflects how not all phones may come with this component. Note the Rezound's predecessor, the Thunderbolt, doesn't seem to have one - that was surprising.
GrayTheWolf said:

True, Temple Run probably does just use the accelerometer to accomplish its simple movements. Same goes for a lot of games. Gyros are more often used for accurate movements and are in games like GTA III and Asphalt 6 (though users sometimes get "bugs" from the gyro not initializing accurately and need to recalibrate it.)
Now, it is also worth noting that programming for backwards compatability ensures the app "degrades gracefully":
http://blog.radioactiveyak.com/2011/01/how-to-use-gyroscope-api-and-remain.html?m=1
So an app may, for example, be coded to "prefer" using a gyro and accelerometer together for movement input for top notch performance, then roll back to just the accelerometer if gyro isn't there. Just the jist of things there without getting too technical.
Yes, the rezound has a gyroscope.

Hi guys, Ive heard about an app that will turn the display of the touchpad off when the display is covered (using official HP folio case). I am using the latest official CM9 nightly, I've tried searching for it but to no avail, any help would be much appreciated.
Many Thanks
Liam
There isn't one, because it would constantly have to be on, and enabled, and scanning, so it would most likely kill your battery more than it would help.
There's a thread about this in the Q&A section asking the very same question, and that's the answer given there. However, if you can find a way to make it work, please feel free.
Actually there is its called smart screen of if I remembered correctly and no it does not take as much battery

I sit corrected. Thank you for that. I'm glad to be proven wrong.
Did anybody get this to work? I've downloaded it and so far hasn't worked .....either that or the proximity sensor on CM9 isn't working
I couldn't get it to work either, I tried to apps both similar in nature but neither would work. Would be good if anyone has any luck getting it to work to post their set up on here so others could try it. I tried it on stock official nightly.

The app uses a proximity sensor usually located next to the earphone of most cellphones. To my knowledge the touchpad has no proximity sensor so it won't work. Very useful app on any device though.

I don't think it's functional in android. It's not been a major priority. I tried a few apps that leverage the sensor, but to no avail.

I read this the other day and decided to use one called Case Switch. It uses the light sensor/ proximity sensor to determine if the light is low enough to turn off. Anyway, been using it for several days, love it! I recommend setting your lower min at 48lux. This setting allows for the screen not to turn off under evening low light settings. When I got this on Sunday the 24th there was a free demo and the pro version was $1.00.
Like I say, it works very well and its an excellent addition to or already amazing tabs.

Touchpad has NO proximity sensor, just an ambient light sensor for auto brightness. The small purple dot next to the volume rockers.

Samsung releases these covers also. It should be fine. I use the s-view cover on my S4 without troubles for some months now. I also have an IPad second gen since release with a magnetic cover. It's been on there for ages and not a single problem.
If a magnetic cover destroys the device while Samsung devices have options for these things, at least you'll get it repaired or replaced.

This might not answer your question completely, but hopefully it helps. I'm typing this on a rooted, decrypted 5x. Fingerprint works perfectly and Android pay is working for me if I go into Supersu and disable root. I can add cards and I was able to pay with it. If root is checked in Supersu it will fail though.
Well, that works for me. I can live without Pay for a while. I really want to keep fingerprinting intact. Thanks
