Words with friends - ICS - HTC Rezound

Has anyone had any issues with extreme lag when using Words with Friends?
I've tried a couple different ICS roms, and they have all displayed slowness (or FC) after playing a word, or choosing a wildcard letter. Its a relatively minor gripe (and really my only gripe of my current rom) but it is a nuisance. I saw a related post in the ROM's developer thread, but I didn't see any responses there.
Thanks

I'm not on ICS but when there was an update for WWF I saw that people were complaining about it but I don't remember why, so if you are using the latest version maybe you can try installing the older one.

I am using ICS and have absolutely no issues at all with Words With Friends. Seems to work perfectly fine here.
I would try clearing its data and cache and see if that fixes it.

i just use hanging friends.. no lag there either, but with the first ics leaks it was very laggy

I had the game briefly, with no issues, I only got rid of it because it's a battery killer.

I have had the exact same issue right down to the issues with the blank tile. I will try clearing data and cache, and see if that does it.

yeah, clearing data and cache didnt fix it, unfortunately.

also cleared cache and data, no luck

Turn off fastboot and be patient with the app. I can sit for horus playing the game without issue. Even restored app data from gingerbread for it.

Same issue
Yeah I'm having issues with major lag between screens on the free version of Words With Friends. If anyone finds a solution please post.

I think the issue has to do with the ad block in ics rims.nilsp has a zip to remove ad block but I can't get it to work.the people who have no lag do you use the free or paid version? I'll spend the 2.99 if it fixes the lag,but don't want to be the guinea pig if it doesn't

Free version using BAMF 1.1, .22 leak, 3g or 4g doesn't matter.

Yep, have had the same issues on every ICS ROM. Fastboot has nothing at all to do with it, so I'm not sure where that came from. Been jacking with things trying to figure it out, but to no avail. Have an Email out to the Zynga. Hopefully we hear something.

Wait, there's an ad free version for $2.99? Yeah, I'll have one of those please.
That will at least fix the ad lags.

You have to buy tokens to kill the ads. Well worth it. Seems much smoother now, as it doesn't have to load the new page and go back to the game.
Same problem with the blank tile thoughl

I've been having a similar issue with "Where's My Water". Plays fine, but loading levels is EXTREMELY slow.
No ads, so I get the feeling it's a different issue.

I'm having the same issues with WWF on ICS. I'm running Calk's E4GT 2 1.4 and it's almost too irritating to play. Let's hope there's a fix soon.

Browser crash

Lately I've been noticing my browser (among other things) crashes a LOT more than it used to. Even when I'm just typing in the address. I'm on 2.1 leak v2. Is this just happening because I'm on the leak? I haven't heard anyone complain about it so I'm not sure if I'm alone here. On a side note, would this be grounds for asking for a new eris? Just out of curiosity.

It's happening to me, especially with xda. Doesn't typically crash on open, though it has. Seems random. I'm also on leak v2...
First of all, get the XDA app. forums never format right in tiny screens. Second of all use opera mini. its loads faster than stock (they load most of the page on their end and send it to you). It's awesome.
I didn't like opera. And its not the xda website usually. just when I first open it up. Or occasionally on random sites. And its not just the browser, the market was messing up for a while too.

I went backwards ;-) ics leak no good

I went back to gb. That leak was real bad. Lots of freezing and little issues. Don't say its my device, because i have 2 and both had a lot of the same little issues. The only thing i miss is mms pics being zoomable.
I hated the keyboard and some other Stuff
To me it felt more like a screwed up no good custom Rom by a rookie

It wasn't your device. It was both of them. It runs like a dream on my phone, not one freeze or any little issues at all.

I can 3rd this. Its running with zero problems on my device, both A1 and A2 of DaGr8's ROM. It could have been the method you used to flash the ROM, or some of the programs you possibly backed up, but for me i have had zero reboots, only one FC on Touchwiz which i don't use anymore, and no other glitches.
i switched back to GB too, ICS was almost perfect, only Navigon and tether not working (unless paying $50 to ATT).
I miss ICS, fell much smoother than GB, will switch back when we have more steady ROM.
I'm using Alpha II on both mine and my wife's - no issues. As for the keyboard, I'm using the latest Swiftkey 3 Tablet beta.
Out of the number of already active threads on the subject you needed your own?
Thur u arrrrrrgh
I notice the occasional hitch for a few minutes after a restart of the phone but after that everything is fine, though i cant seem to get samsung apps working and lost compatibility with a few apps that don't work even when sideloaded. Gonna stick it out till the final build is ready though.

i used the self installing exe rom. The original leak, not a custom rom. I dont want a custom rom either.
I didnt install any backups. I have all the apk's and use appmonster to install them all.
in mms the send and attach buttons where switched and my wife *****ed cause she kept hitting the attach button when she was trying to send.
I dont want a custom rom. If the self installing exe leak rom might be the problem, what other way can it be flashed? Only other thing i did was flash recovery and install SU
If you're having problems most people would say install fresh and DO NOT use a program to restore apps, download them one by one thru the app store.

yeah no kidding. I just said i install all my apps from apk's. Appmoster only starts the apk install one after another. it doesnt install them for you and its not backups.... its apk's
Another thing was the appliction monitor was always turning red just from having something as simple as web browser openned. The memory management seemed to be horable.
Im trying to locate another way to install, maybe odin or something.
It's too bad your against trying any custom roms. For one they get rid of all that at&t stuff you possibly never use; By doing that extra memory is freed up in the process. I didn't have that many issues when I flashed the self installing leak, but I decided to go with DAGR8's Alpha 2, it's faster than the stock leak was. Every time I re-flash a phone, I re-install everything from market, I don't backup anything. It doesn't take that long to type in my user / password and have everything synced back from the market anyway.

so everyone happy with the ics must be running deodexex roms??????
that must be it. Like i said, ics leak is crap. its only good if you take and screw and tweak it.
its gonna be real sad when att pushes ota ics update. the phone is going to become a joke in the eyes of regular people who dont mess with these things
I'm running the leak as is, with no mods or root or anything, and it is ****in' fabulous. Aside from the known issue of the TW launcher initially crashing once or twice, it has been pretty much flawless.

[Q] Pull down menu problems

I just got my phone and most of the time when receiving a email I'll pull down the menu and it keeps going back up automatically. After trying like 3 times it finally stays down. Does anyone else has this issue?
Not to insult your intelligence or anything but are you pulling the bar all the way down? When I was on GB if I didn't pull it all the way down it'd wonk out on me and shoot back up if I did it too fast.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA
I had the same issue on GB. I head to drag it almost all the way down to the bottom of the screen. Now on ICS I can just flick the bar downwards and it does the rest.

Yes I pull it all the way down like 3 times then if lucky it will stay down. After reading emails the pull down menu works fine. The work arounds I found is to put my finger at the top of screen and quickly flick downward then it will stay. With my old phone using it's default rom and Cyanogenmod 7, this never happend. The second work around is to use a small app called, One Click Status Bar. Place it on the home screen and when it's tapped the menu drops down.

Your phone must be rooted to have ICS. I'm debating on doing this because I like using CyanogenMod. One of the problems with rooted phones is that the market doesn't recognize the phone and paid apps disappear and it force closes alot.

I flash around a lot usually spending about a couple weeks on different Roms to test and compare features and I can say I never had a problem with Google play ever recognizing any of my paid apps.
The force closes on the other hand do happen, but very rarely if you run a good rom, and don't do anything you're not supposed to

When a phone is rooted the Google server no longer knows what device is being used. You can check this out by logging into Google wallet and look under your device list. You'll also notice that some apps show up for different os like with gingerbread and some don't for ics. After rooting the server doesn't know what apps work with the phone and at times makes some of your paid apps disappear and preventing potential future downloads.

Very true, I apologize. But you must realize that this site EXISTS for the simple idea that we, the members of it(evidently not all of them), do not want our phones stock.
The only support you'll get from a stock ROM, is from the at&t store.
and the "was not" was meant that way. I feel its a stronger form of the word rather than wasn't
This discussion got troublesome and way, way off topic.
But the bottom line is man, if you want to stay stock, there's really nothing we can do, other than advise to wipe data/factory reset via 3e recovery.
What you may have thought you knew about issues that come by rooting your phone, are maybe 1 in a 100, and most likely caused by the person themselves.
There are a few ROM's that are based on at&t "official" leaks. but there rooted.

I think you may be confusing some of your facts. That may hold true for some unbranded chinese tablets running ICS. Those ROMs have to operate as a brand name "something else" just to get market to recognize the device.
The same is not true with our phones. Root away! The issues you're concerned about do not exist on name brand android devices.

got the OTA ICS update. WTF..it sucks bad.. its so damn slow and crippled

Seriously, im disappointed. I loved my phone before the update, but now..after getting the update, I hate it. I want it OFF my phone. It totally fd up this phone. Pinch zoom is incredibly SLOW and CHOPPY. It freezes and lags like a SOB. And facebook...forget it. I visited the full site constantly because the mobile site caused too many problems. It used to be so fluid smooth. Now it kerps freezing and lagging. The POST/COMMENT button wont work most of the time. I have tried 2 browsers and Its the same problem on both. Also it wont stay centered when im typing. If I try to scroll it to see my text im typing, it forcfully moves back to the other location. What kind of update is this? It broke System Panel so now the cpu usage meter on the top right stays peaked out at 15xxmhz almost. Is there any way to fix these problems? 1 hour and I already cant stand it. This blows! Id rather use my Touch Pro 2 than this if I could. :/

Im sorry if I came off the wrong way, in a way certain parts are quite speedy...but others, like Facebook took a huge hit. I tried a few of my emulators. They seem to work. Nesoid even works despite what I have heard from others. But it seems to lag on frames. Like, the video frames will appear faster but it will skip many thus the motion is choppy instead of fluid. N64oid works faster. I guess thats a plus. I only tried Goldeneye. Typing seems more accurate, but this sollg and screen jumping business is making it very difficult to type..with what was once cake. It wont stay centered on your text. The text boxes in facebook nuke the cpu as soon as you click inside them. It wasnt bad at all before this. I have not tried maps, but since you asked, I might as well.

Unlike on locked down Motorola phones, it is perfectly possible to revert to gingerbread.
1. Unlock Bootloader with HTCDev
2. S-OFF with juopunutbear
3. Run Gingerbread RUU
4. You can stay S-OFF and Unlocked, or if you want to, S-ON and relock.

Right? I was on gb until like a month or two ago and I still prefer gb firmware over ica firmware. I have yet to try the latest radios but I still love the gb radios
I found Opera Mobile to work better. But damn...and yea, its either revert back or custom ROM. I still have not ever flashed before. Guess its one of those things I worry about because if reading a few horror stories of someones phone being bricked after flashing or phone radio not working.
I have seen people in here praising ICS left and right like it was the best update ever. I dont come in here often enough so maybe I missed the posts saying ICS is slow. I wonder if it is Sense 3.6 causing the slowdown?
Most things are the same probably butvsome stuff is def faster and hardware acceleration/gpu rendering makes everything completely smooth and not choppy like GB. Things will get better with some gud kernels when they release source

I'm running the CM9 beta and while I really like the interface and smoothness of ICS, I get loads of random lockups and restarts. Is this typical? Is there any way around it? It seems as if some people are running this ROM without much trouble which makes me wonder why I'd be subject to a different experience.
any thoughts or suggestions? is there anything I can do increase stability?
thanks
If you're running a lot of media on it, say: pics, movies, web browsing with many pics or gifs to load they it can give it some trouble. Play around with it for a bit and see what it likes and what it doesn't. CM9 is really nice.
I have a thread addressing this issue. You may want to check it out.

Fixed Permissions and that didn't seem to help anything. My phone could just be sitting on my desk and it will suddenly restart. only real widget I'm running is Beautiful Widgets weather/clock combo. Had been running Go Launcher, but disabled it to no effect. I'm somewhat at a loss as to what I can even try at this point.
I seemed to have more problems with it when I tried to supercharge. But when I was first trying to do it, it wasnt 100% supercharged. I figured out the right way of getting it fully supercharged and it ran smoother than ever. Still some lockups and reboots now and then but thats expected. Our ICS ROMs aren't perfect. I also found that flashing the ROM without wiping data sometimes made things worse. Now that I figured out how to do things right, every ICS ROM we have runs smooth. Other than the random reboots every now and then. Those wont go away.

I been running paranoid android for 2 days now. Not one reset or real issue yet. I use fast reboot pro from play store though

Another suggestion is to use system tuner to disable apps from starting up that do not need to be running. That's seems to have helped quite a bit.

Just wanted to update this for others having some stability issues.
I wanted to flash the bluesleep fix. So I copied it to my phone, made a nandroid, and flashed it. While in the BSR I decided to flash the mashups.
reboot, major problems as you'd guess. read up on it, reflash CM9, things are ok, but I revert back to my nandroid just to be safe. then I flash the bluesleep fix.
now...super stable. a couple of random reboots but no where near as many. what fixed it, the bluesleep fix? just mucking with it? no idea. moral of the story may be to apply the blue sleep fix, or take a nandroid and then restore it. I have no idea, but now I'm really loving my CM9.
Paranoid android has the blue sleep fix and mash up as part of the rom
