New Google Play Market - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Google introduced the new Google play market today and I was wondering if we would be seeing that gapps implemented into ics. The icon has changed as well as numerous features. I was just wondering if anyone is interested in this new market and what the demand would be to get it on ics
Thanks

All of the Gapps from the current package will simply update once you sign in with your Google account. I'm sure a new one with all of the Play apps will be made available shortly.

What is this "Google Play services" crap?

It all of a sudden started showing up on my phone in downloaded apps (where I first saw it). I saw it on my wife's Photon (Sprint) yesterday. Kept on deleting it but it kept coming back but eventually it stayed gone. Now it's on my phone (Razr Maxx)? Does anybody know what this crap is? Why is it on my phone? The icon looks like a puzzle piece with the Jelly Bean colors on it.
Maybe something that checks for app updates.
Probably harmless.

Its something related to Google Play store, Android market Most probably..
Alright googled it says,
Its a platform developed by the Google Play store in android apps.
Its kind of .apk file which is a part of your system's image.. this file helps with the updates..

It still would of been nice to be notified or let it be an option to have it installed. It showed up out of no where so I automatically assumed it was something NOT good!!

Best guess is that it is something that was already there that had a name and or icon change.

Read this PATIENTLY, it should clear all your doubts..
Google Play services is a platform delivered by the Google Play Store that offers integration with Google products, such as Google+, in Android apps. The Google Play services platform consists of a services component that runs on the device and a thin client library that you package with your app.
The Google Play services component is delivered as an APK through the Google Play Store, so updates to Google Play services are not dependent on carrier or OEM system image updates. Newer devices will also have Google Play services as part of the device's system image, but updates are still pushed to these newer devices through the Google Play Store. In general, devices running Android 2.2 (Froyo) or later that have the Google Play Store receive updates within a few days. This allows you to leverage the newest APIs for Google products and reach most of the devices in the Android ecosystem. Devices older than Android 2.2 or devices without the Google Play Store app are not supported.
The Google Play services component contains much of the logic to communicate with the specific Google product that you want to interact with. An easy-to-use authentication flow is also provided to gain access to supported Google products, which provides consistency for both the developer and user. From the developer's point of view, requesting credentials is mostly taken care of by the services component through calls to the client library. From the user's point of view, authorization is granted with a few simple clicks.
The client library contains the interfaces to call into the services component. It also contains APIs that allow you to resolve any issues at runtime such as a missing, disabled, or out-of-date Google Play services APK.
Still have doubts??
Thanks to everybody that posted info about this. It's good to know that everybody else is getting it and it's not harmful.
I disabled it when it auto installed and the market stopped working completely. I disallowed everything it wanted to access except wifi and the market worked again. So it doesn't need all those permission to work at least.

Have you guys read the reviews for that app? There is some pretty funny stuff in there...

Dont settle down yet Brother.
The Google Play Services got installed in my phone yesterday. I uninstalled it and it came back again. I uninstalled it again. Now the google play does not install any apps in my phone, it just gives the waiting bar.
All was working well without Google Play Services too, which means this Google anal excreta isnt necessary at all., I think they are pushing this in our phone, sure there is something hidden purpose in their anal mind.
The Start Up manager also shows it in startup, which was not there before.
All is all when you run the Google Play Services icon, it gives some three options, one is regarding ads management or something... all their feces are showing up.
How to deal with this problem?

Same thing brother. Can you explain more? Did you do it in Permissions Pro? and you disabled all the permissions except wifi connectivity, and everything works again?

I am rooted and use LBE Privacy Guard. Using it allows turning off anything for any app., Google Play Services is used for setting up and giving permissions to other installed apps. Although annoying having Google install apps without asking, it's really just part of Google Play Store. Part of the Google Play conversion from the Android Market.
But I still hate apps spying on me so LBE is the first app I install after a clean wipe.

You know what? I froze the Google Play Services. And today installed the Youtube update. When I run it, it says "you cannot use this app without Google Play Services. And when I uninstalled the update, the previous version of the youtube works just fine like before. This is a serious privacy issue. They are definitely spying on us in deep darker levels.
Ok, so if you are recommending the LBE Privacy Guard, are you the developer? please give us the stable version.
If google is acting like crap(as I mentioned above) when I freeze the app, Wont it do the same if I use your LBE and tamper its activities?
I'd just leave it, it's most likely harmless.

It is harmless, officially. But, their act to make it mandatory in illegal ways, tells us that there is something more ugly going on in the background.

Verify apps?

Anyone else see this new feature in google play on their stock rezound?
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...ices-app-now-works-on-gingerbread-and-higher/
I don't have the option yet and wondering why.
Maybe you don't have the latest Google play store. I know I have the one from the 4.3 jelly bean release. It only shows when you install apps from a file manager

Doesn't google play auto update in the background? Does stock rezound not have the latest google play?
Know I haven't gotten the latest google maps or calendar.
It should be somewhere in security in settings. I'm on a sense Rom so I don't know exactly where
Edit : just updated google talk to hangout which said it required google service framework update (something like that) and it downloaded google settings which has the verify apps option

Play Services

Hey guys, i recently tried grabbing the new Google Play Services apk to get Trusted Locations. It installs and most things work but after installing gmail now errors out every time I open it with "Unknown Google Play Services Error". Anyone else getting the same?
I get the same thing but Google inbox works ok so I hadn't really noticed it. I don't see a way to rollback to a different version of the play services though.

You have to deactivate "Android Device Manager" as a device administrator and then go into Settings -> Apps -> All and then find Google Play Services and hit Uninstall Updates
It looks like there are certain versions needed and the one for the N9 hasnt been posted yet
Yeah you will have to wait for it to hit your device or watch this thread

Waiting for the 748 version to try

Truesmart + Playstore available?

Hi, I just received my Truesmart + today, and I tried to install the google playstore and while I was able to get the APK into the watch, after it installs the playstore it fails to open.
So basically whenever I press the playstore button it'd open for half a second and the whole program just vanishes like if it got reverted back to the homescreen..... Ive also downloaded several different version of playstore and havent had any luck either...
I was wondering if you guys know if its possible to even install the google play store and get it to run on this model??
The specs of my watch are:
Android Version: 5.1
Baseband version: MOLY.WR8.W1449.MD.WG.MPV5, 2015/08/24 16:00
Kernel Version: 3.10.72
Build Number: Omate_Truesmart+_V1.1
Custom Build Version: OUI 3.0
Please help me out, I dont want to end up with a brick =(
I am curious about this too (was supposed to get mine today but the mailman messed up) Did they not include the OStore or some sort of other app program? Are any apps preloaded?
You'll also notice that you can't add a Google account within Settings-> Accounts.
The only way around that so I'm actually able to add a Google account is by sideloading "Google Services Framework" & "Google Account Manager" (in addition to "Play Services").
However, even with these installed, Play Store still doesn't work - it launches but won't connect.
Hopefully a solution is found.
Until then, I'm fine with using my LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE.
Pre-installed Apps are pretty sparse:
> Phone
> SMS
> Exchange
> File Manager
> Browser
> Calendar
> Clock
> Gallery
> Downloads
> Contacts
> Search

*UPDATE*
I've reached out to Laurent LePen (CEO of Omate) & told him the usual method of making the Play Store work (by sideloading the 3 Apps I mentioned) doesn't work on the Omate TrueSmart+. He said they're rolling out an update next week to fix that.
So hopefully, next week it'll work.
*fingers crossed*
Wow, releasing a watch without its own OStore supported seems like a big mistake. Their Facebook discussion also seems to suggest that they'll be pushing an update by the end of the year, so hopefully that holds true.
I was able to install Google search and google now launcher, but google play store won't work without "google play services" and I haven't found a version of that .apk that will not keep crashing on the Truesmart+
Since google play services keeps crashing, the play store stays on a "Checking Info" screen that keeps spinning and spinning...
Same issue here, obviously...
com.google.android.gms_8.4.89_(2428711-234)-8489234_minAPI21(armeabi-v7a)(240dpi).apk should be the correct version of Play Services, but it still crashes on me...
Does anyone have any newer versions of the Services Framework and Account Manager APK's?
Anyone, any updates?
Edit: There will be a firmware update this weekend which will pus the OStore... No Play STore, but at least it's something for now...
I just unboxed my truesmart+ today.
I think it is not useful without google service inside.
I can't sync my contact nor get my paid apps on it, it is really a bit disappointing.

I thought they would put the OStore in the update, but this is even better!!!
Everything appears to be working great
Just curious, if Aptoide does the same thing as the Play Store, did we really need the Play Store? I'm away from my device so I can't test it, but it seems Aptoide has many of the same mainstream apps as the Play Store (Maps, YouTube, etc)
Could someone please answer my question re: Aptoide? Is this a viable alternative? (from a technical perspective, please no need to go into politics) Thanks.

Aptoide will work for free apps, if you install "My Paid Apps" from Aptoide you may also be able to install some of your paid apps as well. Aptoide's biggest drawbacks are much smaller number of apps, less security, sometimes apps do not get updated as often, not all paid apps will be accessible.
Another option is Amazon App Store.

Aptoide is a viable alternative to Google Play, but only if you are very careful and very skilled at being able to recognize and avoid trojanized versions of apps. The majority of people hosting apps there are well intentioned, I guess, but there are also a large number of maliciously modified apps to be found there, and cracked premium pay apps are included.
Using Aptoide over the Play Store, then, is not a good idea unless you are very skilled or have other means of avoiding Android malware mixed in with the many legitimate apps available there. If you get apps there that are really hosted there by their real original developers, for example, you can feel pretty secure.

Thank you both for your replies! Referencing your statement above, if I download only the apps marked with a green shield marked "trusted" should I be ok? (Do I trust the trust mark?) I'm only looking for Maps, YouTube, SWApp, Gmail, Amazon Music, Pandora.

You can download the .apk files from the play store by using this website: http://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/.
This procedure should be safe and maleware free.

Please keep this thread on topic, otherwise it will be permanently closed.

This item isn't available in your country

Hello all here,
At first sorry for if i am posting at wrong place.
I have Xiaomi redmin note 4x. When i am trying install apps some apps says ,,This item isn't available in your country" , how can i pass it, which way is more safe and correct?
Thanks in advanced.
It's not a problem that's just how Play Store works.
If you want the app, check apkmirror.com for the apk file.
Not every app is available for everyone from play store.
Simply create a new google account using an address in a country that supports the app and you're good to go. Add the new google account to your device and then switch profiles in Google Play Store to start downloading. https://www.patchworkoftips.com/solved-this-item-isnt-available-in-your-country-no-root-no-vpn/7101/
It worked for me. Hopefully it works for you too

????? Last I checked opening a new Google account is free of charge. I actually have like 5 accounts.
On a serious note, I decided to find a fix for this as it was exhausting updating apps I got via third party apk sites.
With this method I'm guaranteed quick Google play store updates
