While I am trying to decide whether to root or not (I usually use Titanium backup) can anybody recommend a good backup app for a non rooted device?
My Backup Pro, I use it along Titanium Backup, as well as backup for... Titanium Backup.
The new version of PC Companion has a full backup feature. Maybe that can do the trick?

Maybe it's just me but when I try to make backup using PC Companion it crashes just before it finishes the whole process. Tried on 2 computers with the same result.

MyBackup Pro
I'm not sure but i don't think that MyBackup Pro can backup your app data unless you have root,
"NOTE: Data/setting of applications can only be supported if you have a rooted phone, or if the application integrates with us."
Read that in the product description,
Does that mean that it would only backup the actual APK's ?
Here is a list of the apps that have integrated MyBackup Pro:
http://www.rerware.com/Android-Backup/Integration.aspx
To be honest i don't use any of them but i guess someone will find it useful
I did back up my phone with pc companion this morning. Overall the whole process is not smooth. Sometimes it said program is not responding but I waited patiently and let it run. Finally it has done PC companion also detected the back up file.

Hi guys,
I have heard that after the update you will loose all your data and apps, the new Backup and Restore from SE can give you a backup of contacts and data, but what about the applications?
I personally used Titanium Backup with root access on my 1.6, but now that the root wont be possible in 2.1 (so far) I am wondering which application for restoring my apps would be good?
any idea?

The first thing I'll be trying is THIS.
good tip, however, I still need to know how to backup all my apps without using root!! I think sonyericsson have been thinking about this, is not possible that everyone lost all their apps and have to reinstalled them one by one

Have you tried Astro as suggested on another thread? Considering you can root and unroot with an app I don't know why people are so afraid of doing it.
Im not afraid of rooting, Im afraid of rooting not working on 2.1 for some time. I Have not idea ...
I tried ASTRO and I think it works, it never asked for root and Im now backing up everything
thanks

Well at least we'll find out tomorrow.
Astro only restores the applications but not the data, so still not the proper solution :S
any other suggestion?
The current methods (X10Root, Androot) are not working with 2.1.
That is a fact.
I use a PC suite called 91 PC suite, look it up on google, its basically in Chinese, but language can be changed to English, it has an option of backing up apps as well, though it never asked for root, but I've used it after I've rooted my phone. nice piece of software, you guys should check it out

I've searched, but found nothing. I'm putting a new rom on my t'bolt. I've been running SoaB for a while and it's great, but I want a change. I flashed Infected Eternity.
I'm currently restoring my apps using Titanium backup pro batch mode. After each restore is asks 'Do you want to install this application' I have to click install and when it's done I have to click 'Open' or 'Done'.
Surely there has to be a way around this. I've been all throught the settings to no avail.
No way around it. You have to hit install and then done. It sucks but does the trick.

arrgh ok.
No, if it recognizes your pro license, it should zip through all if the installs without prompting you for each one. Are you sure it knows you have the pro license installed?

If it's doing that then you don't have pro
Titanium Backup pro auto installs without you having to click the install button.

Yeah, if you bought PRO, make sure you back that up and restore it each time as well otherwise it's all manual. A BIG incentive to buy that app.
When you first open Titanium Backup, does it say that it detected the pro license?
Nevermind I realized what went wrong.

Why don't you consider using Helium Backup? Very easy to use compared to Titanium ( which is great too ).

I doubt it for that, never had a non rooted android but pulling app data should be allowed, if its stored in mtn/asec you may need to be rooted

I am used to do a full backup prior to installing a new ROM or doing a Factory Reset with Titanium Backup, but I have to be Rooted. Right now I am not Rooted and I want to follow the steps in this forum to became Rooted but that will erase everything I have on the phone, what App will be a good option to do a full backup?, thanks

Wrong. Works perfectly fine for me. Make sure USB debugging is enabled and that you have the drivers installed.

Hi there,
I currently have a rooted Nexus 6 and to run a particular app; I need to be unrooted so I have decided to flash stock. However, I won't be rooting my device after I flash stock and so I can't use something like Titanium Backup to restore right?
So, I was just wondering, what is the best way to backup all my apps and things like WhatsApp media (photos, videos etc) so that I can restore it on a fresh install of stock Android?
Does anyone know of any goods tools or tricks?
Thanks in advance - really appreciate any help I can get!
You can try Moborobo PC app. It's possible to backup media files, contacts, apps and even app data(root needed).

Thanks Christianihechi! I have had a quick look and it seems to be not as commonly used nowadays. Do you have any thoughts on something like Helium?
I still use the Moborobo though. Helium is perfectly cool and can do the job. You can also try Phone Manager, a PC app too.
