Hey, I have done pretty stupid thing few days ago, I have rooted my phone, and I picked up one of the kernels on here, however I completely forgot to make a note of which kernel was this shipped with... any Idea how could I find this information?
Thanks...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Sorry, for bumping this, does anyone knows how to help me in this? There must be some log inside of the NAND that says what the original shipment was...
The only thing I could suggest is to look for the most current 3 firmware for your region. Try http://samfirmware.com/ - it may help.

Ah, ok, a friend of mine got his SGS2 few days after me from 3 as well, so I assume it will have the same firmware? What are the chances of him getting different one than me, while I was getting it in store, but he got it delivered?
EDIT: Ok, so I got the details from a friend with same phone, so the FW should be as follows:
I9100NEKD5
2.6.35.7-I9100XWKE1-CL181974
[email protected]#2
gingerbread.XWKE1
So, now I am good again, in case something goes wrong, I know which FW to pick to unroot Thanks

50% chance different .

Your best is to go to stock firmware and branded firmware posts in dev section and find matching firmware and download it now .
Your product code defines the original firmware .

Thanks, I have most likely located my FW, will download as soon as I come home, now you have mentioned that my product code will determine which FW I had originaly, Where do I find my product code, and where to check that? Also, would not product code give you details about non-branded OS, and then when phone gots branded by provider(three.ie in my case) those might have change?
Ok, seems that I got this resolved and using app called SYSTEM INFO I found most of the information I needed...
JJ, you look like you know some stuff, Hows with rooting and unrooting, is flashing back stock kernel(I have so far only flashed Kernel, nothing else was needed as of yet, this is my first Samsung, so I am trying to get slowly into it) going to remove all traces of root? Or will technicians in Samsung be able to see that its been rooted(in case of warranty repair needed)

Yeap. Done. Had issues with Modern Combat 3 lagging in Singleplayer. Hmm, btw, any guides to unroot? Just in case I needa claim warranty
Good man
If you ever need to unroot, in case you have to send the phone in for warranty service or whatever, find your firmware in this thread or if you can't find anything specific to your carrier use the most recent one for your country from here and flash in Odin.
Do a factory reset just to make sure there's no apps laying around on the phone that might tip off whomever repairs it (Samsung) that you've been running non-official firmware on it, and get a jig from eBay to reset the flash counter (do a search for "Samsung Galaxy S2 jig", costs a couple of bucks).
Not sure about the MW thing as I've never played it, hopefully someone else might come along and offer a hand (Maybe change the title of your thread ?).

If theres any award for XDA's most helpful member, think you deserve it. Thanl you so muchhhhh. Really appreciate it
Awwww You're much too kind.
No worries, as long as you read up & follow the instructions for flashing a rom/kernel you should be able to handle things just fine, and given you nailed the CF Root thing first go without any dramas (which is a pretty fair effort, a lot of people who post here seem to have problems with it ), I'm sure you'll ace anything you have a go at

Thanks. Anyway, flashed my official :
DXKL3
Firmware info
PDAXKL3
PHONE: DXKL1
Date: 15/12/2011
Android 2.3.6
MultiCSC Package (GLB, MM1, SIN, SMA, STH, THL, XEV, XME, XSE, XSP, XTC, XTE, XXV): http://www.multiupload.com/AK0TGH6WXX
DXKL3 Stock Kernel: http://www.multiupload.com/PY2EJTIQ2E

But erm, its still rooted
Flash the kernel on it's own. Hard to say why the kernel didn't take when you flashed the full firmware.

flashed the tar.md5 file. Am i suppose to remove the .md5 and change it to tar?
No. Don't have to remove the md5 bit. If you've tried flashing the kernel on its own in the PDA section of Odin as per my last post, try re-flashing the entire rom.

You downloaded & flashed the "official" firmware as per your post on the first page, didn't you ? If you've already tried flashing the stock kernel as I'd suggested & that didn't unroot your phone, try flashing the whole stock package you downloaded again.

Ok, im on stock rom. What I did was to flash the kernel for root. Firmware wasnt touched. So, erm I have to reflash the entire rom. Any links I can refer to? I'm from Southeast Asia - Singapore
I gave you the links to official firmware on the first page. Yes. I told you how to unroot the phone on the first page with those links :-| I'm not going to tell you which firmware to flash, you should be able to work that one out yourself given you mentioned your original firmware on page one as well.
Hi guys i recently updated my Gs2 through kies to the Ics firmware but i really don't like it much and i wanted to flash back the Gingerbread 2.3.5 that was on the phone before but all links that i have found so far with the firmware and kernel seem to be down so can someone provide me with new links?. Thanks in advance.

The link for SAM (Peru) in Intratech's official firmware thread is not multiload, and works.
Alternatively, you can probably find any firmware you want on samfirmware.com, or checkfus.
Does the type of firmware really matter? or will getting the Peru one make a difference in the phone, my phone uses the TTT version so i wanted to get that back, my apologies if i just asked a noobish question but this is my first time at this sort of thing. and also the Sam (peru) link isn't working either.

I honestly don't know what difference there is. Probably just the CSCs, (Country Specific Codes) which may or may not matter for you. Will probably make it so Kies doesn't recognize your phone for update. If you don't use Kies, it probably won't matter. But if you want the TTT version specifically, then, again:

Hey guys can someone please help me asap,
I have a SAMSUNG GALAXY S2 with VODAFONE AUSTRALIA
Like a stooge even though I didnt really know what i was doing I tried to put on ICS on my phone and replaced the PHONE, PDA, BOOTLOADER AND CSC files on my phone using odin 1.8 and i really hate my phone right now it barely works, I have been on the net and mainly this forum all day but all the links/downloads arent working, can somebody please tell me where i can download the stock firmware/kernel whatever it is called for my phone with Vodafone Australia, thank you so much in advance, thanks.
download from http://www.samfirmware.com/

At the risk of repeating myself for the 8,921,764th time...If you want the original stock firmware that came with the phone, search Samfirmware.com & follow whatever instructions they have for firmware downloaded from their site.
If you're happy with the latest stock firmware (which might be the same as the firmware which was on the phone when you bought it), get the PC version of Checkfus (search for it on here/Google). This will enable you to download the latest firmware available for your phone model/country/carrier that you'd normally get via OTA update with Kies. If you do choose this, flash the firmware package you download following the instructions here.

Need a quick answer. Long story short: I rooted my Phone with CF-Root>Want to Un-root>Found a firmware (XXEMA2)>Downloaded it but, I am not sure that it's the right version for my GT-19300?>I typed *#1234# *To check my firmware*>It displays:
Version:
AP: 19300XXEMA2
CP: 19300XXELLA *Or was it this?*
CSC: 19300JVEMA1
So...Did i downloaded its official firmware or it was the (XEELLA) firmware i should have downloaded? Sorry for the english, English is not my first language. I just wanted to make sure, That i have downloaded the right version for my "Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300)" and would it be safe to flash it with this firmware, I downloaded? Thank you for taking your time for answering my question. It will be much appreciated.

Region doesn't matter, only if you want ota updates you need a matching region and csc if I am not wrong. But anyway you can flash any new version via Odin as well, hence I wouldn't bother with it.

First of all. For someone who is looking for help your tone is offensive and discouraging to those that might be able to help. If the question is indeed so simple as you ask then why are you asking the question in the first place.
Second of all, the reason people ask you to look at sammobile is because you can select the region that you are in and/or bought the handset from and would be able to check for yourself if you have indeed downloaded the correct firmware for Pakistan.
Sammobile is down at the minute and will be back up at any minute. They Tweeted this 20minutes ago.

I apologise if i have misunderstood what you have wrote but it is just how what you have wrote comes across.
Anyway, was your phone branded or unbranded when you bought it?
I have just had a think aswell. If you want to revert to complete stock unrooted, you could do it using kies firmware/update utility under tools. If you type the model as GT-I9300 and enter your device serial number (under battery, not imei) and connect your phone in download mode, kies will flash the correct firmware that that device shipped with.
I would help with the correct version but sammobile is still down and that is the site to help pinpoint the correct version details which you are asking for.

Here is the firmware information for a stock unbranded Pakistan GT-I9300. This is what would have been shipped on the device when it was manufactured.
Product Code: GT-I9300MBDPAK
Version: Android 4.0.4
HIDSWVER: I9300XXALE9/I9300OJVALE9/I9300XXLE8/I9300XXALE9
I can not find the latest update for your region atm. But this firmware would be the right one for your region.
It is ICS though. you could install this and then OTA update your device.

In the link I've posted if you search you wok find a link to Pakistan firmware. If your device is a Pakistan unbranded Rom then that file will restore a complete stock system.
Before you flash, turn off your phone and hold volume dwn, home and power. Then press the up arrow once in download mode. Look at the Flash count abs make sure it's 0 or reads stock or official next to the status. If it doesn't reboot your phone and use triangle away which is in the forum and remove the Flash count. Then Flash your rom via odin.
