I followed the steps for easy rooting and finished with one click root. Phone was fine then I flashed clockwork from rom manager because I couldnt get it to go into clockwork. Now the phone is in a constant clockwork recovery. the up and down arrows work but the power button that normally works like enter just shuts the screen off and shows a rom manager logo in the middle of the screen. How do I fix? even when I pull the battery and power up it immediately goes to clockwork again.
Home button for enter on this phone.
try the home button to enter. power button does not work with our model
forgot to mention that I can get it into download mode so I tried to go back and reflash in Odin like before and start over but it failed on the initial read and I didn't want to try again
You shouldn't have used ROM Manager, it causes problems like this. If you are able to, try just reflashing the stock kernal then CWM again. Using ROM Manager messes up our phones for some reason.

I'm a total noob. I just assumed that the power button was enter key like my old captivate. Thank you

I had the same problem (stock on clockwork mode with Rom Manager Logo). I have read lots of posts and crossed Heimdall. When installed it I ran it and received MSVCP100.dll error. Read README file on Heimdall and installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 and.....that didn't help. Absolutely accidently instead of pressing PWR button in the phone to chose a command I pressed (!!!) HOME button (soft key) and IT WORKED!!! Hope it will help someone and thanks to those who contributed their time and posted various answers
This is why you read the sticky that explains not to use ROM Manager and if you read it do not ignore it. This phone is truly easy to root and flash roms on if you pay attention and don't skip info and steps.
This issue seriously comes up WAY too much.

Dont bump old threads that were garbage to begin with... and dont use Rom Manager.
I have a rooted artrix and the other night i updated via OTA and now the phone wont boot. how can i fix this? any help would be nice
Yeah, that sounds about right. Can you get into rsd mode or anything??? Btw, please post this in Q&A. You will more than likely get flamed for posting in the wrong section.

i tired booting into recovery and iot says starting fastboot protcol support
There are lots of tutorials on here on how to unbrick your phone (depending on hard brick or soft brick)
Look through the Q&A section - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1070
If you get an error message on your screen during regular boot, use the search tool in that forum to search for what it says. That should help narrow it down.
BTW: When booting into recovery, make sure you Hold Vol + down until it says "fastboot" on the screen, then press Vol + down until the words say "Android Recovery" and then press Vol + Up.

Hello
I rooted my Galaxy s2 i777 using 2.3.6 (I think that was it - what ATT pushed out earlier in the summer) and next flashed CWM using ODIN. I noticed that the menus weren't working in CWM. When I use the home or menu buttons it just toggles a logo screen, and power does nothing (volume keys do work). I noticed others had this issue with this phone but didn't encounter any solutions.
Poking around the Rom Manager application I noticed a reboot into recovery mode feature and thought I'd try it. It did as advertised. But now when I reboot by holding down power it immediately reboots into recovery mode. I'm guessing what happens is the "reboot into recovery mode" feature put itself at the head of the boot sequence and instead of removing itself from there on load, which it probably should, it waits until the user exits the program cleanly. Unfortunately, because I can't get the keys to work in the program, the only way I can exit is to hold down power. I can navigate to the "power off" or "reboot" options but I can't execute them (press "enter"). So it stays at the head of the boot sequence (just my theory) and I can't get out. Actually when I power off by holding down the power key the phone just reboots immediately, right back into cwm recovery, so there seems to be something more going on.
I have a backup of the system but I can't figure out how to get out of the sequence. I tried the download mode and recovery mode key sequences but they don't work (not even sure if they're supposed to work in this recovery screen). Any ideas? I have a backup of the system, so I'm happy to attempt scorched earth suggestions. Kies can't recognize the phone anymore. Many thanks.

1. you obviously flashed a kernel WITH CWM via Odin.
2. Rom Manager should not be used.
Flash a rooted stock ROM via ODIN.
read around in the stickies of the i777 forum, and get acquainted with things.
Boot into CWM correctly, and go about flashing whatever you want knowing what you just learned by reading the correct stuff.
Welp, first things first.
1. Read, search, Google, only look at results from this forum, i.e. the ATT Galaxy S2 I777 forums on XDA. Any info from any other sites is more likely to get you nowhere or brick your phone further.
2. After having done so, you'll learn never to use Rom Manager. EVER.
3. Also after having done #1, you'll learn to never try to flash CWM separately. As Moto implies, CWM for our phones is built into custom kernels, it is not separate.
4. Follow this guide to start over and get back to stock.
5. Then follow this guide to root and flash custom ROMs and kernels.
You sound like an intelligent guy, so as long as you do more reading around here you'll figure everything out slowly. Make sure to read stuff multiple times until you fully understand everything, and feel free to ask questions about stuff you don't understand, but only after reading said guides multiple times.
EDIT: Gah Moto, why you gotta post ahead of me D:
Actually the problem is most likely the fact that he is probably using an old version of cwm where the home button selects stuff. And rom manager.

Thanks, that did it. I'd actually read the stickies, I just didn't think I could get into download mode because the phone was stuck in that auto-reboot loop.
For anyone else stuck in that loop cwm recovery loop, the download mode entry method (press both volume keys and insert usb) needs to be timed just so, since you usually perform the sequence when the phone is powered down (in stable way) but in this situation you only have a moment before it restarts. After powering down, just as it restarts automatically you can see the capacitative buttons blink for an instant, and that's when I started the sequence. Took me about half a dozen times but I eventually caught it. Am I the only one struggling with how hard these captchas are getting over the years? there's probably a sticky for that too I guess nvm.
If I'm not mistaken you can get into download mode without having a battery plugged in, so no need for trying to time it. Just hold volume buttons and plug in USB. For future reference; glad you got it worked out. Make sure to read the second guide thoroughly so you know how to safely flash stuff, and hit my thanks button if i helped you out.

Hello,
I've searched for help on this and can't seem to find any.
Problem: Motorola Razr is stuck on the red m logo, but I cannot boot into the boot menu to flash via RSD or anything. The logo is offset to the left a little and has a small 1-2 pixel high rainbow of colors across the bottom. When trying to boot into the menu with power and vol + & - it simply boots without a logo but still the small bar of colors.
Probable cause: Phone's screen wasn't turning on and the phone wouldn't turn off so I did the reset with vol up and power while the phone was still probably on. Before when my phone's button wasn't responsive i used that to reset it and it had worked.
Info on phone and rom:
Rom - Rage rom 2.2 upgraded from 2.1 (worked for the past two months fine)
Phones base version: 98.72.16 (the april JB release) flashed via droid razr utility
Safestrap version 3.11
What I've tried: was going to try rsd flashing but i can't reach the boot menu.
Basic summary: Stuck on M logo and can't get into boot menu or safestrap, after holding vol up + power while phone was on.
Going into the boit manager and flashing via rsd lite both are different .
For flashing via rsd lite ya need to switch off ya mobile and then press both volume down and volume up at same time and press power button then.
It ll take ya into the bootloader and then using power down come till 3rd option ap fastboot and then press power up to select that now connect ya phone to pc and then flash the fastboot using rsd lite
Edit : make sure ya have installed appropriate drivers to get recognise ya phone by rsd lite
Thanks!!
Please hit the thanks button if i helped ya in anyways !!!
I think i have the same problem
I had MIUI on my Razr and today i wanted to try CyanogenMod, so i downlaoded it and installed it with ClockWorkMod, then rebooted and struck in the big red M, and no way to access the boot manger because if i press volume up + volume down + power it reboot, show the big red M then black sceen, and if it's conneced to my pc it tryes to install some drivers bit it fail, but still black screen
Is it bricked? What can i do?

Ya can't use boot manager and cwm recovery both . If ya want to use cwm ya need to remove all the files of bmm . Its just soft bricked not hard bricked so no need to worry just flash the appropriate fastboot file using rsd lite to get back to stock
Thats it
Edit : i think ya know the flashing method
Thanks!!

Thanks for trying but I tried following your instructions to get into fast boot and the screen just goes dark. Also when plugging into my PC it pops up on windows' end saying that a USB device has malfunctioned. I think I may just get it replaced under warranty unless sometime soon I find out theres a new way to fix it. But yeah it seems its too hard to tell if I'm actually in fastboot or if its even getting there properly.
Thanks!
As far as i know ya have tried all the unbrick method , none of them seemed to work . I believe ya razr is not soft or hard bricked and its not software problem too . Its hardware problem ya need to take it to service centre because it may be LED problem
Thanks!!

How I fixed my Motorola Razr i (Intel)
Hello guys,
Since my Motorola Razr i phone is a company phone where I receive my corporate emails, I wasn't allowed to root the phone whatsoever.
My phone got stuck on the Red Motorola logo under normal usage. One day I turned it off and when I turned it back on, I had this problem.
How I solved it:
1) Downloaded and installed RSD Lite 6.1.4 which worked on Windows 8.1. Ensure all drivers are installed and that nothing is undetected in Device Manager. #important
2) I am based in Germany and I had the Vodafone Retail (EU) version. So I downloaded "CFC_9.8.2I-50_SMI-26_S7_USASMIJBRTEU.xml.zip" from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=13. This corresponds to Android 4.1.2 Retail Europe.
3) I booted the phone in Fastboot (Power + Vol down; after restart and little vibrate, release power, keep finger on Vol down.)
4) The phone was detected in RSD Lite. I chose the zip file, unpacked and flashed.
5) Done. Phone was fresh. No warranty was void, nothing was rooted. All good.
Hope that helps somebody out there!
Cheers,
Shailen.
I've got the same issue. Took the OTA (was on stock OTA, rooted). Not, nothing but moto-logo with the only working option being AP Fastboot. Tried script utility to bring back to 4.1.2, but it fails on writing system and boot (preflash validation failed FAILED (remote failure)).
Is there another way to get the stock images flashed on there?

Well, with RSDLite 6.1.6 and the most recent build from droid-developers . org I'm back in operation. Old version, wiped out, but at least I can make/receive phone calls.
How I got my Razr HD (XT925) Working! Flashed It WITHOUT LOSE ANY FILES!
I know this is a old thread, but if some one else falls here just like me, I had a problem with my XT925 too, and figured out that my only choice was to flash it up.
My phone was stuck in the red motorola logo, and it doesn't even tried to load the android.
After reading a lot of information and tried EVERYTHING, I fall here, and the comment of @shailentj saved my phone!
So I basically followed the steps that @shailentj posted in this very thread, with some differences.
1 - His link goes directly to Motorola RAZR i (XT890), but if you access ' sbf.droid-developers.org ' (I can't post links yet) you will be able to find your own model, which in my case was Razr HD (XT925).
2 - Extracted the whole firmware package (.zip file) and edited the .xml file, removing the "getvar" line. If you don't know what or how to do this, is just remove the line where you find the text "getvar". If you have trouble, just google it, there is a lot of information.
And finally, the reason I'm here. I found a way to don't delete USER DATA! My phone stuck, and I did't have any backup of my contacts (that is a lot of numbers) nor my files (photos, movies).
So I start to read the .xml file, and find a step "userdata", with operation "erase". This line says to erase the user's data partition, and in most cases, we don't want that.
Then, just remove the line in the xml written: " <step operation="erase" partition="userdata"/> ", and your files (may) not be erased!
4 - I start to flash, and then I got the infamous message "sistem_signature" failed. The solution was just download the last RSD I found (which in my case was 6.1.6).
5 - My phone restarts, with everything working great, system restored and ALL MY FILES AND CONTACT NUMBERS were there!
So very thank you @shailentj, your post really helped me a lot!
And yeah, you can flash your phone without lose any contacts or photos!
Now go, and spread the word!

Well since you are not rooted and dont have custom recovery you only have s couple of things to try.
Turn off your phone then press power+volume up + volume down for a few seconds until you get to a screen where you are going to highlight recovery with your volume down and select it with volume up,when the android with red triangle appers press volume up + volume down and let go,a new screen will apear then highlight wipe cache with volume keys and select it with power button after that reboot your phone and see if solved your problem, otherwise you are gonna have to upgrade to jelly bean via stock recovery or rsdlite.

Well that didnt work, i actually even came to the part where i could wipe my cache which i havent before but when i reboot it just stucks on the M logo again
You do explain very well which i like.
Seems like i have to do the last thing. Upgrade to Jelly bean via stock recovery or rsdlite.

I have just an exact problem, but in my own case, it is rooted, and just before it got stuck at the boot screen, i just flashed my phone with a custom ROM. (kit kat). I have watched several videos, but i am really skeptical at this point. Please help, i am so stuck out here.
Hi all,
I have Motorola XT621 Primus, after some playings with it and trying to root and add RTL patching i got a brick.
Now the status is that i have fastboot mode working but bootloader is locked, no recovery working and no ADB working, no boot too.
I tryed many ways to flash or unlock bootloader but nothing works. Any commands like fstboot oem got output like (...)
Is there any way to unlock bootloader via fastboot and flash new rom or it completely bricked?
Thanks!

my XT910 stuck in boot screen too. it has a
