[Q] Suggestions for a poor king like me? Sprint>boost - HTC EVO 3D

I just can't keep up with my Sprint bill anymore. I'm financially ****ed.
Anyway. I want to call them up and perhaps see if they can switch me to a boost plan. One that is cheaper and that I would have to pay each month. This way I can't duck out and it wouldn't be considered defaulting. Is this very possible??? I hope they will help me.
Next question would be where can I start reading up on how to switch my Evo 3D from Sprint to Boost network. Any tips? Thanks!

Are you by chance on a family plan and getting a discount? If so, you still have time to call them up and tell them about their billing changes. This would get you out of the EFT and can then port numbers out.

A little Google search found some videos and links on setting the evo 3D to the boost network.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...4&action=devloc&q=evo+3D+to+boost&v=133247963

I am on my own contract. No family plan actually.

Most of those guides are bs. They leave the most important steps out. If you decide to try to put your EVO3d on boost be prepared for a long long night Lol

Any more tuned tutorials I can check out please?

You're going to need a good reason or issue to be let off the hook. They can't transfer you to Boost as it is pre- paid and a different company. (Same corporation, different company). So you're gonna get hit with a etf unfortunately.

What if I'm off contract now more or less. Signed up with original EVO. Have a 3D now. Is there a pre paid plan with 4G? Or anything cheaper than their single everything plan? I might see if I can take over my girlfriends SERO plan. She wants a Windows Mobile phone as she works for MS. And that one Sprint offers doesn't cut it. Gave her my EVO when she got me the 3D. I live in Seattle. Thanks!

Saw a billboard this morning on the way to work for MetroPCS with 4G LTE.

what worked for me..
started out with a super cheap used boost mobile phone then changed to a TP2 on boost with the swap the phone out activation.
1.5 yrs later bought a used donor phone and a bad esn EVO3d.
you have a few choices at this step, you can pay someone to program for you via teamviewer, mail both phones to someone to do it.
or
do LOTS of reading online to compile all the info you need to do it yourself,
or
take a chance and buy a guide from someone.
I did all of the above.
I wish I could be more specific but I don't think the forum rules allow it.
here a link to get you off in the right direction

Flash a Verizon prl n use crazy amounts of data. Sprint will let u go for free. There is also a guide on the droid incredible thread that's pretty complete....look for the open sesame trick u probably b good to go with one of the guides...
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA

to get out of ETF u can claim your in military service and being deployed/redepolyed to Europe asia etc(theyll ask you if u want to put your account on standby indefinitely tell them no obviously) they'll then ask for ssn dob and such but not much else(AFAIK they didn't verify anything just noted it down)
can also claim u have moved to somewhere out of there coverage area be creative and ensure wherever u claim is indeed out of the coverage area u may have to show a bill or drivers license with a new address but that is uber easy to photoshop with templates floating on darknets/clearnet as well if u look hard enough
For flashing u need a "donor" phone on the network with a clean ESN u wish to be on i.e. (Verizon,Boost,Metropcs,Cricket) then u have to repair your Evo3d's ESN with the info from "Donor" phone the exact method/s are complicated and not allowed to be posted afaik
pm if u want some guides i found floating around the interwebs

Can't he just roam for a couple of weeks on virizon prl they should kick him loose

Last two posts are so very interesting. I have since gotten a overtime job and don't really need to worry about those troubles ATM. Awesome responses though guys thanks.

Out of interest, how much was your bill per month? And what were you 'getting' for that money? I.e. What were you allowances? minutes/Texts/data.

Sprint

Hey guys
quick question... you all prob hear it a lot but I wanted to run it here because this be the place! You all know your stuff.
Will this phone run on sprint? I might buy one from my brother. I read that sprint wont allow it on their network.
Thanks
Roflmao just get a hero its basicly the same phone

I'm buying it only to help him out. I have to give him money either way. I wanna gain here. lol I know its the same. Hero doesn't have the sensor. I would rather hold out for the Evo.
Simply put: No, it won't.
The ESN won't be in the Sprint database, and you'll be extremely hard pressed to find someone who will put it in their database. Even if you find your was past that, you'll need to compile or modify a Verizon or Sprint ROM to work on the Eris so the phone has functioning data/MMS/etc.
It's not worth the hassle for an EOL phone.
You could get it, throw it on craigslist and try to sell it or trade it for a Sprint phone..
Thank you for your help.
He smarted off to me and I ended the idea to help him. The funny thing was, Right after all that went down, sprint put a date and a price on the Evo.
All is good. : )

Yeah. I WAS going to hold out for the Evo.... until i saw how much the data plan is going to be. I pay $30/month for unlimited 3G. The Evo running 4G is going to be $69/month plus another $10 for the mobile hotspot option. Add in texting and minutes... hell, I should just have my paycheck forwarded directly to the bloodsuckers. I was REALLY excited about getting this phone. Going to stick with my eris instead. At least I dont have to sell a kidney to pay for my eris every month.

why not go with the unlimited everything plan for 69.00
the 4g is optional.. I am buying this on the 4th when it drops. I do not have 4g in my area so for me, its only 69 unlimited everything (450 min to land lines though)

Anyone have their View on Boost Mobile?

I saw instructions in the EVO 4G thread on programming over to Boost Mobile and people are now advertising to do our Views. So, I want to find out how to do it myself (for free)

I have little interest in getting my View on Boost but by using the same method in that Evo 4G thread I hope to get my View on Sprint with an ESN ripped from an Evo.
Technically it should be possible (probably by a similar, if not same, method from that post) but I'm going to do some digging around before I try those instructions and risk nuking two expensive toys
Should I end up breaking down and paying for the instructions on eBay I'll post them here, along with my results.
Where can you purchase Instructions? I have only seen people charging to do it for you. (on the View that is)
Sent from the Delta Quadrant using XDA Premium App
I can pretty much guarantee it involves qpst and/or cdma workshop and doing an esn swap, loading a boost prl as well as changing all of the data settings over to boost's servers. I wonder if 4g would work still... I really need to get over my tinkering habit
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I am not so worried about 4G, just want to use it on Boost. I do not want to be locked into a 2 year contract.
I read somewhere that they were allowing view owners to go to month to month on data... that might serve you better.
Well, it seems like folks want to port to Boost because it works out to $11 a month for data only use.
Me, I'd be thrilled if I could just get Sprint to treat the View as a phone, and then use it as a big fat giant phone. As long as it's within 30ft of me, my BlueTooth could care less how big it is, and that's a nice long lasting battery inside...
Saving $5 a month by having it as a phone on my family plan would be just icing.

Using Airave to get extra upgrade

So according to best buy, the number assigned to my Airave is eligible for an upgrade but my plan is incompatible....anyone know a way around this...?
Sent from my s-off'd 3VO
Just have them upgrade it an add the line to your family plan. They call Sprint an have them send you the box to send the Airave back. I work at BB an did it for a customer not to long ago
Oh, ok.... I wasn't exactly looking to add another line.....but thank you for your response

Very good question. I had wondered this myself also. Great to see somebody put it out here to gather feedback and experiences.
You should also be able to view this line upgrade information when logging into the sprint account on sprint.com.
Ever since the first day they added my Airave it has appeared as eligible for an upgrade. Not sure the logically or technical reasoning behind that.
Don't see the logic behind using the Airave upgrade to add a line when adding a line is generally already subjected to the same discount on devices as the 2 yr upgrade. Perhaps I don't understand the example in the previous post.
Would be interesting to hear if it is possible to use the upgrade on the Airave line to upgrade the device on another already existing line.
You can view it on Sprint but i remember it showing limited options....mostly tablets I think...
Sent from my s-off'd 3VO
Sprint store said since its technically a line the system does that. But they didn't want to let me use it so I went on Craigslist for the 3d.
If best buy allows this then maybe I will go for galaxy nexus when out or the epic 4g touch
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
I went into best buy today, they agreed my Airave line was "eligible" but that they have to upgrade the actual line...they couldnt just use my Airave upgrade towards my 3D

so have them upgrade that actual line then call sprint and swap phones
It was a little known trick at one time. It's getting harder to do now though. It seems the sales person has to add the plan for the new phone, remove the airrave. Then activate the phone and transfer the airrave back on and the airrave plan. Something along those lines. It's a hassle and above the knowledge of many sales people.
Sprint used to do it for you, now they are told to absolutely not do it. 3rd party stores are your best bet. You just gotta find a sales person with a little knowledge and know how.
Yeah, I gave up on it, I'm sure most people at best buy would not be willing to go through the extra effort, especially for someone they don't know...

[Q] HELP! Am i screwed!?

Hola 3D users, Just bought a HTC Evo 3D the other night off craigslist. At first the seller seemed pretty legit as we meet at a QT ( local gas station ) here in Tulsa,OK. Long story short, this phone is currently being used but not in service meaning they either forgot to pay the phone bill, or they cancel the account. Either way, i just got screwed out 180 bones. Yes i took a shot in the dark , but i was posting on here to see if there is ANY OTHER WAY BY ANY MEANS to get this working. Thanks for your time.
If he sold you the phone, then it's likely he wanted to cancel the service on it. Otherwise, you'd be using his number and what not. As long as it has a clean ESN, you can take it to the sprint store and get it activated. Tell them you bought it from someone who is no longer with Sprint.

If you have a bad ESN, there's nothing you can do to get it working on Sprint. They won't do it. You'll only be able to flash it to Metro PCS. I would try and get back in contact with the seller. You should ALWAYS check the ESN status before you hand over the money.

I think your only alternative is to flash to cricket or boost, or sell it on eBay with a bad esn. You can probably get your money back.
If they cancel their Sprint account, the ESN is still clean. Bad ESN's come from theft and what not I believe.

Yep, not much you can do. Remember, NEVER trust people haha. Seriously though, I don't understand why people buy phones in random locations. Just meet the seller at the Sprint (Verizon, at&t etc) store and swap it right there.
The only thing you can do is contact the seller and see if they are willing to buy it back, or pay off their bill. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to make them do this, and since they obviously were trying to screw you in the first place, I highly doubt they will do the right thing and pay off their bill.

Unfortunately, the buyer has ignored all my phone calls , texts, etc. This really sucks because the phone is in amazingly good shape, as well as it was a upgrade in my postion going from the 4G to 3D. Good news, i think i can manage to switch to Metro PCS. On that note, can anyone speak on behalf of Metro as far as service, signal. I see Metro is a pay-as-you-go, but i wanna make sure its a soild service. As well as good 4G. Thanks again.
This is why craigslist is scary. There is no guarantee or anything. Maybe you will run into the guy again and you can kick him in the face

[Q]How to get out of sprint Contract?

Hey guys I just wanted some advice on how to get out of sprint contract without having to pay for early termination fee, my service in my area is bad and I have to be on roaming to be able to use my internet.. any comments will be appreciated..
Thanks..
Force roam or use a Verizon PRL to exceed 300MB of roaming data for a few months and they'll eventually terminate you.
im pretty sure theyre still letting people go without an ETF because of the way they are applying the corporate discounts.
not sure to be honest though.

If you roam using Verizon prl found here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529274
They will let you go. But they aren't going to be very willing to work with you so that you can keep the same number.

Newts my hero.
Don't force roam excessively just to get out of your contract, that's cheating and costs the rest of us more money.
If you are having signal issues at home, just email [email protected]. A rep from Executive Services will call you back in a day or so. Explain your situation, and they should let you out of your contract.
if you have a computer you can get the booster from sprint for free but this will only help your in home service . . . I had my friend do this . . .
get a hotspot . . .
go over the limit . . . (my friend went over by about 95gb)
they'll call you, don't worry . . . its thousands of dollars of overage . . .
talk it through and they gave my friend the option to cancel service at no cost or to drop his hotspot. he decided to just drop the hotspot.
me and my friend use around 100gb a month cause we play our ps3's over the hacked hotspots, sorry for slowing the rest of you guys down, but i really like my gaming.
let me know if that helps.

threaten to bring in a lawyer should you continue to be treated so horribly. also, calling sprints 1800 number is the BEST way to get awesome and ASSURED customer service. people are dicks... and store managers usually are just an asshole who somehow landed a decent-paying job that he never deserved, nor even understand **** about phones. so yea, don't count on that local store to help you anymore.
nothing else, bring in a lawyer.
Install a Rom that allows forced roaming and do them dirty is the only thing I know of. I've heard of people getting kicked off for roaming too much, but that's just what I've heard. Good luck
