[Q] I NEED HELP PLEASE!Unlock bootloader for electrify - Motorola Photon 4G

Ok first off I want to thank everyone for all the great info, I have been able to root my US Cellular motorola electrify but I recently realized that it did not work like my droid X (Verizon) when I Auto rooted it and flashed Liberty Rom for it.I tried flashing cm9 ROM several times and bricked my (electrify) phone each time but luckily I was able to figure out how to sbf from rsd from team us cellular. I realized I need to unlock bootloader (pudding) my electrify which is running android 2.3.5. I have tried everything in this world to unlock it and I cannot seem to get it. I have tried with RSD 5.6, 5.5, 5.4.4 5.3 and I also tried with different sbf files from here on XDA. none go through and on my phone I always recieve an error. I know everyone says its ok its suppose to be like that, well I follow instructions and go to cmd and do fastboot and it says infooem unlock is not implimented okay? [0.002s], there is only one thing I have not tried and I cannot seem to find the large pudding_stock_unlock.sbf ANYWHERE! I believe it is 403mb. I have searched for hours for it using everything I can and I still get to the 1mb file which does nothing for me. I even tried using 235pudding.sbf but still nothing. I need someones help please. sorry i posted here but Devs wont let a "noob" post in development section. I really really want ICS cm9 beta on my phone. please help

As far as im aware if your on 2.3.5 your SOL for unlocking.. Unless someone pretty recently has found a new exploit for it that I haven't seen. And this IS the proper place to post questions like this, the Development Section is for Roms/Kernels and the such. Basically big dev things, not questions about how to do things.

No unlock solution for 2.3.5.

O feel your pain. O switched recently and I came from Samsung. With the new electrifies on 2.3.5 the boot loader is locked. We are stuck till the next update. Sucks, but its a reality for us

Sorry for this noob question, but I am a noob, so i'm allowed ,
Is it the same as unlocking a GSM phone? Will unlocking the CDMA portion of the electrify allow me to use the phone on other CDMA networks worldwide (like unlocked GSM phones)?
If that is not why we are unlocking, why are we unlocking the electrify? What benefits does it have to the intermediate-advanced user?
on side note (may require another thread); I have rooted my electrify. How do I get rid of the US Cellular splash (boot up) screen? or is that why I need to unlock the phone?
thanks in advance,
CTB

You've got your unlocking confused. They're talking about unlocking the bootloader here, the Photon and Electrify are not SIM locked (but are restricted from working on North American GSM networks with compatible frequencies, for example, AT&T). The CDMA radios will be carrier locked to Sprint or US Cellular for the Photon and Electrify respectively, those doesn't get 'unlocked' per se - it's possible to flash CDMA phones to different carriers, but it isn't easy.
Bootloader locking is completely different, it's a sort of failsafe that checks the kernel and/or ROM for a certain signature before it'll boot the device. Locked bootloader means no custom kernels, which in turn means certain ROMs or distributions like Cyanogenmod will not function properly as they require (or simply benefit greatly from) certain elements of custom kernels.
If you want to change the bootscreen, just root your phone and replace bootanimation.zip from /system/media.

Well can someone demonstrate the process on how these things are made so i can unlock mine myself ill figure it out

This unlocked means for bootloader unlocked, not CDMA unlock.
Photon can use other CDMA other than sprint, you just must know MSL/SPC.
I don't know about electrify, is it same like photon for inject it with other cdma operator.
I use my photon using cdma in asia, so it not sprint for sure.

[Q] Sim unlock and custom roms

Hi,
I will be moving out of the country for a little while and was wondering if anyone could help me out with unlocking my vibrant. (see sig for current set up)
I have attempted using several market utilities but have had no luck, i havent yet called T-mobile because im fairly certain that the unlock code with custom roms installed wont work (correct me if im wrong this is just an assumption im making)
Does any one know of a way to sim unlock the vibrant while on custom roms?
Do i have to use a hex editor?
If i flash back to stock, use sim unlock provided by t-mobile, will the unlock persist after flashing a custom rom?
Thank you in advance to those who reply.
- Cheers

Unlocking has nothing to do with having a custom rom or not.
1. Easiest way is to call T-Mobile for unlock code
2. Quickest way is to follow these directions:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761045
3. Yes you will need a hex editor and be able to use adb.
Once unlocked it will stay unlocked after flashing custom roms.
I was just in an area without decent T-mobile coverage and had to unlock to use a AT&T GoPhone sim. Did #2 from above. 10 minutes max.

[Q] Bootloader Unlocking

Hi. I remember reading somewhere that the ICS update for the RAZR would enable us to be able to unlock the bootloader. I'm not sure if it was just pre-update hype or a misunderstanding regarding the developer edition of the device (which comes with an unlockable bootloader).
So, does the ICS update give us the ability to unlock the bootloader or are we still stuck with it?
Until Motorola allows it, there WON'T be an unlocked bootloader for the Droid RAZR, unless they sell the developer edition to the US. Otherwise, no unlocked bootloader.
I haven't heard anything regarding Motorola unlocking the bootloader (I wish Google would just do a hostile takeover already). The closest I've heard about is that "developer edition" of the phone, and then the still-in-pre-alpha bootloader bypass, in development by a couple of Android hackers: http://www.androidauthority.com/droid-razr-xt912-xt910-bootloader-bypass-80258/
Thanks for the response. I probably should have specified that I was talking about the GSM / Non-US / XT910 version of the device. I have an Australian RAZR and I was under the impression that only the US model had a locked bootloader. Apparently I was wrong. I knew about the developer phone but I don't have one of those.

How about the Non-US version of the device? I thought only the US version was locked due to Verizon.

I know about the developer edition of the device, the bootloader bypass looks interesting though. Thanks for alerting me to it, should be good to see how far they get.
Wait for kholk's kexec to in order to run custom kernel

[Q] Some Photon 4G/electrify questions

Hey guys!
I have some questions about this phone:
-If the GSM comes factory locked for other countries, can it be unlocked?
-Do Photon roms work on the electrify? (unlocked bootloader)
-Do all Photons/electrifies are Gsm built? I have an ebay seller saying electrify is not a GSM phone...
I'm planning on buying a unlocked bootloader photon/electrify, or one with 2.34 so I can unlock it myself!
Regards

gsm is not locked for any country outside of the US.
the electrify and the photon are the same phone (minus 4g) so of course the roms work.
it is a gsm phone. but it won't work on US networks. (unless you flash a new radio to an unlocked device, if you're a n00b and never have done this before, it's not recommended unless you don't care about messing up the phone)
also the electrify cannot be unlocked for GSM use in the US. photon can though.

About the lack of 4G on the electrify, is that a hardware or software limitation?
thx

If you want to unlock you bootloader and go with the Photon, make sure it has Android 2.3.4 on it. I just bought one used and it came with 2.3.5 which cannot be unlocked apparently.

Thanks for your comment!
Unfortunatelly I did buy one with a locked bootloader on ebay.
Will sell the one I have right now and buy another mopho with unlocked bootloader.
Or maybe just get another phone!
Now I just wounder if with a specific radio, we can get 4G on the electrify.

AT&T M8 to Verizon Network

Is my understanding that a phone with bootloader unlocked can have any rom installed (i may be wrong). If that would be the case can i install a verizon rom on my unlocked s-off M8 and be able to use it on verizon?
Verizon runs on a CDMA network. AT&T is GSM. Wont work. Wont work for Sprint either for the exact same reason. You can however move it to T-mobile after getting unlocked.

Also - your statement that a phone with an unlocked bootloader can run ANY ROM isn't quite accurate. The ROM must be made for the device itself - model and type (GSM, CDMA, etc.).

I should have clarified. I meant carrier unlocked not a unlocked bootloader.
Thanks guys that explains everything.

Question Unlocked vs T-Mobile version questions.

I currently have both the T-Mobile version and I purchased an unlocked version from BestBuy.
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/oneplus-nord-n200-5g-blue-quantum-64gb-unlocked-blue-quantum/6468089.p?skuId=6468089
Are there physical differences to these two phones or are they just running different software?
EDIT I looks like its not possible to unlock the bootloader of the T-Mobile version just yet and I have been doing some searching and it looks like the unlocked version is closer to being unlocked. If anyone can confirm a way to bootloader unlock either I would appreciate it.
My end goal here is to get access to Unlocked/Uncapped tethering without having to use a 3rdparty app or companion app. The ability to flash custom ROMs and root access. But also the ability to flash back to a 100% stock rom.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
EDIT I see now you can get the bootloader unlocked on both version by sending a token to Oneplus and waiting 7 days.

The only physical difference is that the T-Mobile version has the IMEI engraved onto the back of the phone while the unlocked variant does not and the original boxes are slightly different.
Both phones run different software. It is possible to flash the unlocked ROM to the T-Mobile version of the phone after unlocking the bootloader, but that breaks OTA.

You may find this useful with the T-Mobile variant: CLICK HERE
All the info you need to get your bootloader unlocked for the T-Mobile variant.
There's even a single adb command that will ungrey the OEM unlock option in the developer settings without a SIM unlock (you'll still need the unlock token from OP though):
The Quest for a Bootloader Unlock (partial guide, T-Mobile variant, may work for MetroPCS/Metro variant)
OK, this process has been hell, but I'm gonna try and consolidate everything I've worked out so far in one place. This all applies only to the T-Mobile variant (ie. it comes preloaded with all the T-Mobile bloatware) of the N200 on the T-Mobile...

does unlocked version has dual sim capability and dual sim tray??
I'm trying to do the same thing with the N200 for a hostpot @xVoidx . I'm curious if you succeeded, and what ROM did you end up using to do it?
I have this phone fully bootloader unlocked. can someone direct me to a tmobile variant rom? or something thatll change it from tmobile to unlocked?
