MTP screen ?(ps.i can connect to pc and it says ''MTP connected'' but no screen whit the usb from picture)
(The picture is just a sample,to show what i am talking about)
On the top left corner , the usb sign is ther but not the screen atached..
Or is this a new feature from 2.3.6 (SGS2)? or is there a problem whit my phone ...?/
Sorry i am new to S2.

Maybe if i asked about a pizza recipe ,I get a faster response ..

It's been a while since I've been on GB/Stock but from memory if you remove the USB cable then go to Settings - Development (May be slightly different) you should be able to enable USB debugging which essentially replaces the default USB option to mass storage mode instead of Kies mode.

People dont get paid to answer nor do people always check this forum every minute to help someones problem/question. Your question isnt even a problem so waiting a few hours or even days shouldnt even be that hard.
Its normal not to see that specific screen.

thank you!

You won't see that unless files are being transferred if memory serves me correctly

I have Exactly the same question...can anybody help or care to reply if its Normal?
I had certain problems on my SGS2 & gave it to the service centre .They changed the motherboard inside & flashed GB 2.3.6 to it( i'm currently on this). Everything runs ok on the phone except that when i connect the phone to Pc through usb,...there is No MTP Screen (as seen above ) showing up in the phone(sgs2)
Previously i was on GB 2.3.3 & this MTP Screen (with the USB icon) as seen above used to regularly showup as soon as i connected my phone Sgs2 to the pc through usb!
Is there anything wrong here or is it the normal behaviour with GB 2.3.6 & beyond like this only?
Plz confirm !

Everything is normal.
When you are transferring files to your phone, the MTP screen will show up and will disappear in its own when the file transfer finishes.
Swyped from my Galaxy SII

Thanks Jokesy .....just found out that !
Yes,the MTP Screen do appear just for brief few sec/min,all that it needs for transferring the files to & from the phone (sgs2 here) & under the USB Icon in the MTP Screen it is written as "...synchronising..." & after that the MTP screen disappears by itself!
*The brief period it appears/shows up on the phone screen makes it hard to notice &mayb i missed that so!
So confirmed the MTP screen with the USB icon still exists but the behaviour has changed a little from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6 !
Thanks

[Q] Mac OS wont recognize Phone SD just EXT

Ok im New to the whole Android thing , but i am excited to finally get on board with a Google phone. I like the iphone, i have no problems with it, its just the new carrier wont work with it. I have 2 macs, Macbook and MacPro (hackintosh) Im am very familiar with computer and how stuff works, I understand 70% of the commands i have to copy and paste from forums to make things work. Right now i am stuck (and im 100% sure its not due to the fact my Desktop isnt legit)
I got this phone used last week, fresh install with a certain rom (i dont know wich one, not sure how to tell, have no ideal how to get factory roms etc.) the phone is unlocked.
Before i plug in the usb to my phone, i enable debugging, then i select, USB mass storage.
WHen i connect i get the " Mac os X can't repair the disk "NO NAME"
{

then the External will mount, (so will the internal) here is what disk Util shows
It says the internal is 2.36 gb with 12.74 gb avail and only 980mb used, 0 number of files..
Now when i try to unmount the external, its fine, when i try to unmount the Internal, (NO NAME) all hell breaks loose, i wont let me, sometimes i get an error saying i cant unmount etc.. when i unplug it from the computer its still on my desktop, DiskUtil goes crazy and doesnt respond, then eventually any program that can see the drive will not respond (finder, activity Monitor)
anyone know a way around this? do i need to put a differnt install on it? its a t-mobile phone, should i just dl their newest update? how do i actually do that? their webpage? thanks for the help

I do not think Apple wants ppl to use Android..... Jealousy I guess, You can try a couple of things one would be Downloading this software from: Salling Media sync app for mac This usually works but not all the time and I do not know why.
This will work until you find a real fix from TMO, Samsung. It takes a few steps but works:
First open Terminal (applications - utilities - terminal), then type in "gpt show /dev/disk1" without the quotes. Make sure USB Debugging is turned on. Plug in the phone, it will be detected in Finder as a TMO CD, after a minute that will disappear, you can eject it to get there faster. Then mount the USB device, wait for the disk error message and select "Ignore" then unmount the card then remount it. Then in the Terminal hit Enter to run the "gpt show /dev/disk1 command". You may have to run the command more than once. It should recognize your card at that point. Then you can access the card as usual.
BTW, THIS IS WHY I HATE APPLE, they are excellent at making thing compatible for their products but, give little support to others......
yeah i tried that, but when i plug in the phone Network settings pop up no TMO CD
you think it could be because of the custom rom that was installed? I tried to find out wich one i had, but no luck..
it seems like there is somethign wrong with the 16gb partition... maybe a fresh install?
Yes when All else fails fresh install also you might find someone with a windows based computer to check it it amke sure the phone is not the problem
Yeah thats my next option.. VM wont work because OSX see's the phone 1st.. i cant just get win7 to take control without osx getting their hands on it..
now being familiar with the iphone. i would just find a stable version open itunes and select what version i want to install.. seeing how i bought my phone rooted and unlocked. and not knowing what ROM i have installed, do i just goto t-mobile's site and get the latest software from there?
connected fine on a windows machine.. this really sucks.

adb problem.

Hello. adb can't find my device. USB Debugging is enabled and the icon is showing in phone's notification bar.
USB Storage is working well. I tried to reinstall drivers, but it didn't help.
When I enable USB debugging in my phone, in my PC's desktop there pops up a balloon with text:
----
Found New Hardware
A problem occured during hardware installation. Your new hardware might not work properly.
----
Before this, there are many other pop-ups, but they show that everything is loading properly.
Help?

thats related to driver issue, you should reinstall the drivers and reboot after installation. Else, try installing adb again.

uncheck usb debugging and resatrt ur phn . check usb debugging again and connect it to pc via cable it will install if not just uncheck usb debugging and check try fr sometimes it works.
but the first suggestion works like a charm as it will install drivers sucessfully if done in that order
It can't find my device anyway.
And there still pops-up that balloon with text, in the corner of desktop.
Can't it be a problem with usb cable?

Change the usb cable ,but i think is a driver issue!http://www.filestube.com/cn59lHssznIVvTuaArdOfh/LGUnitedMobileDriver-S497MA20-WHQL-ML-Ver-1-0.html try this driver

I downloaded this, but it only shows "preparing to install" for a moment, when I double click it, and that's all...
EDIT: Now after many driver's reinstalling attempts, also USB Mass Storage isn't working anymore.
... but LGMobile Support Tool recognizes my device.
EDIT2: Here's a screenshot from Device Manager
http://www.bildites.lv/images/m99dribyo454r03mdz6.png
And when I connect my device to PC via USB, in phone's notification bar isn't showing "USB connected" anymore.
EDIT3 : Rebooted the phone and USB Storage works, adb - still doesn't.
UP!
So, does anyone know, what can be the problem? Is there somebody who had the same issue?

Unable to send files from S3 to S2 via wifi Direct

Hi everyone.
I'm trying to send files over to my old S2 which is running the Samsung stock ICS rom. But S3 is unable to send anything over even though they are both connected. When I tap on the status information, I see the following status:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Any advice on why is this so? Is S3 Wifi Direct incompatible with S2?
Please help! Thanks!
U need to enable the WifiDirect Settings on the S2. If not you will not be able to send file from Note or S3 over to S2(Gingebread).
Yes, I have already enabled the WifiDirect on S2. It is just a toggle to turn it on, am I right? Both the phones are able to get connected, but I just can't send files over to S2?
Just to add. I'm unable to see any WifiDirect setting option on my phone.
I'm have no idea how can I configure it.
I've just tried it between my S2 and S3, works fine. Switched wifi direct on both phones, they found each other immediately, accepted the connection from one to the other, used a file explorer to select a random file, long pressed on it, picked "send" then "wifi direct" in the list of options and done. Files on the S3 appear in a "share via wifi" folder on the internal sd.
Edit: also works fine from S3 to S2 but there's an extra step as in once I've selected "share" and "wifi direct" it pops a list of connected devices (just the one in my case) and I need to select the tick box for that device and click "done"

Thanks for the test. Then it may be something wrong with my S3? Because it keep trying to send out the file to S2, but there is nothing being received on my S2, after I done the same step of checking the checkbox from the list of devices. Tested with 2 different S2, and it is still the same.

Just a thought... My S3 is running the unbranded UK XXBLFB rom (rooted with cf- root) so if yours is on a custom or carrier rom then maybe there's a problem in that firmware? S2 is on an ICS rom

I'm running the same rom too. My S2 is running the XWLPD ICS. I find sending from S2 -> S3 is an instant. However, sending S3 -> S2, the syncing and transferring of files is not as quick as S2 -> S3. I bet the issue lies in my S3. I need to retry couples of times in order to get successful transfer. But once a transfer is made, all other subsequent transfers will be like a breeze.

Problem Connecting To PC

Hey everyone,
Ever since updating to "14.1.B.2.257" i can't connect my Xperia Z Ultra (C6802) to my PC. i've tried a lot of things such as reinstalling the drivers, installing and activating ADB etc. But everywhere i look, it's been mentioned that a msg should prompt on my device (the RSA Authentication):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
the problem is that i've installed functioning drivers AND the PC recognizes my internal storage and SD card; the only problem is that i can't connect to third party softwares in order to backup or manage my phone via them BECAUSE there is no pop-up msg asking me to authorize the "fingerprint" of my pc :|
i'm very well frustrated having worked on this matter for about 10-12 hours :laugh: so any help would be immensely appreciated!
That is odd. Since you didn't specifically mention it, i couldn't resist confirming: you did enable usb debugging in the developer settings?
So this did work before? How did you update to .257? I hope you get it working, i know how annoying this can be!
Hmm, mine usually connects the second i enable USB debugging. If you're sick and tired of it and don't want to fiddle with it right now but you want to move/remove files and stuff to/from your device, i recommend AirDroid. Just open the app and your browser on you computer and you're ready to go (you have to be connected to the same WiFi as your computer).
Change your usb connection mode to MSC Mass storage mode instead of MTP Media transfer mode. That should do it.

thanks, rest assured that i'm well aware that "usb debugging" is enabled i even tried GIVING UP developer rights and then again recaliming it just as a possible solution (but nope, undoable without serious phone-hauling)
i up'ed it to .2.257 using the OTA method, i think the whole thing might be due to the fact that my device isn't rooted :/ don't ask me why cuz i'm very pissed at Sony for its lacking of such things. (.2.257 can't be rooted yet, not even with vRoot)

Thanks Lord, as i stated i only have trouble connecting to third-party softwares such as Mobango and Moborobo (do u know if there are any such softwares better?) the rest is kinda okay, i can see my device as a connected device in My Computer etc.

Thanks for replying Sunday, but that's another odd thing: i can't seem to change the connection mode from "Internal & SD Card Connected" to anything else, cuz i did hypothesize that changing it to any other form of connection might have a chance at prompting the "RSA Fingerprint" msg :laugh: but i simply can't change it to anything else, again, might be due to the fact that my device isn't rooted

No USB connection - Half bricked?

Tablet Z with unlocked bootloader and rooted 10.1.C.0.370
My issues occured after a downgrade to 4.1.2.
I CAN:
1) Start my tablet. Camera doesnt work though (Error: Camera not available)
2) Charge my tablet (Only partially... When the tablet is ON, it doesn't charge. When OFF it charges to about 50% - odd behavior)
3) Go into safe mode
4) Go into fastboot mode (solid BLUE LED)
5) Use the memory card and use root apps (maybe this could help restore?)
I CAN NOT:
1) Get my PC to recognize that a USB device is connected. Neither in Mass Storage mode, Media mode, nor fastboot mode.
- Tried with several cables and computers (this is not a driver issue, since it won't show up at all in device manager)
- Flashtool obvious;y says, no device connected
2) Get in to flashmode: device blinks red for about half a second, then green for half a second, and then LED is off. Nothing recognized via USB on PC
3) Get into recovery mode
4) Update over WIFI (fails because unlocled bootloader I suppose)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
--------------------------------------
I managed to make an adb connection to my PC via WIFI
On the tablet:
1) Opened a root terminal
2) setprop service.adb.tcp.port 5555
3) stop adbd
4) start adbd
On my PC:
1) adb connect <network IP of tablet>
Printscreen of Flashtool connected via adb WIFI:

Does this get me any closer to fixing my USB problem or to flashing an update/recovery?
Another update:
I hadn't tried using my camera at all. I just tried and it says: Error: Camera not available
Maybe its related to the USB connectivity issue...
Will pay 60 bux via paypal to whoever solves my problem, since Sony won't!
Possible?
Is it possible to flash in flashboot mode via SD Card (No recovery present on tablet) using some kind of script before putting the tab in flashboot mode??
Interesting Info
Hey guys,
got some interesting info regarding charging cycles from: http://sony-xperiasp.blogspot.de/2013/08/recover-all-2012-xperias-from-soft-brick.html
Its not really for the tablet Z, but sounds very similar.
My charging cycle is about at 3. When phone is off, it will start at a RED led, and go upto abot 20-30%, where the Kernel kicks in. As soon as that happens, as described in the article, a short click of the power button shows the battery icon. BUT, it doesnt show the battery charging anymore!
In short, as soon as the Kernel comes on, my battery stops charging. Now my QUESTION: Is it possible there is a minimum charge to be able to go into flashmode?? Because when I try to go into flashmode, it blinks green and then red. Maybe this means not enough battery charge to go into flashmode?
Can someone PLEASE, check this on their working Tablet Z?! With an extremely low battery charge, if they are able to go into flashmode! (steady green)
Would really appreciate! Thanks!!
Problem solved... 2 USB cables faulty, got a new one. Now it charges and goes into flashmode. Flashed stock, all OK except the Camera. Still says Camera unavailable. Thats maybe really the thin wire inside loose!
