[Q] can i use flash sbf to downgrade? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed my phone back to stock a while ago not realising i flashed it with tmobile france software then did an OTA upgrade to gingerbread and it stayed as tmobile france, meaning now my phone always thinks im roaming lol
iv found an old tmobile UK sbf file which is the 2.2.2 older software version and im planning to sbf flash it then do another OTA update which will hopefully put me on gingerbread tmobile UK
im just asking to see if this is a a safe thing to do or could i brick my phone by downgrading sbf files etc...? thanks!

NO.
No, nope, nonononononono.
No.

why not? please explain lol i dont want to ruin my phone

LOL no problem. The "One Guaranteed Way in the Whole Wide World" to brick your phone is to SBF flash to an older version than what you're on currently.
Unfortunately I don't have any experience in getting different carrier's firmware; just didn't want to see your phone get screwed in the process.

ah i see thank you, i guess il just leave it and get over the annoying roaming symbol then! haha what would happen if i flashed over it with a UK version of the same software?

I guess my question would be: are you actually being charged for roaming? If so, I might change your title to ask how to get back on UK Tmobile -- someone else might have some better ideas.

nope i dont think i am just get an annoying popup all the time saying im roaming when im not and okay ill try to do that thanks

Hero Knackered - Help!!!

Hi all, tonight my Hero has bust! The bottom of the screen won't work so I understand its going to have to go back to T-Mobile as its a contract phone.
Its got a Modaco rom on it - do I need to flash it back to the original ROM?
if you're going to take it back, i'd flash it with a stock rom with no root. As im pretty sure that voids your warranty or something...
Flash it with the latest Tmobile update there is then.
Since they will expect their own branding on the phone.

[Q] AT&T unlocked, still get OTA??

Will my previously locked AT&T Streak, which is now unlocked (not rooted), still receive the OTA update to 2.2 Froyo?
as far as i know you should still get the update because i believe when you click update within system settings .all the dell servers do is verify your base band version . and even if you are on tmobile you should get the update because you could do it over wifi (which is faster sometimes). The question is when will att finally go ota. I couldn't wait so i used qdl

I don't believe that's accurate information as far as if your with t-mobile that you will still get the update. The OTA update was pretty much left to At&t to manage and control according to dell reps.
Guess I should have put in my original post that I'm still using AT&T...
Sounds like I'm good to go, thanks for the replys. Now we shall see if the reports are correct that they will roll out the update tomorrow

[Q] Using i9100M (Bell Canada) in Europe?

Hello everyone!! First of all, sorry if this has been posted already and please excuse me as I am completely new to the smartphone and android scene!
I do not own a SGSII yet but I am seeking to buy the white version of the phone, which is currently available at Bell. I'm planning to just buy out the phone itself without a contract because I will be going away to the UK in January for about 9 months. I am aware of the fact that Bell has its own firmware, giving it the name i9100m instead of i9100. So, I was wondering if I root and unlock the phone, will I be able to update the firmware and perform all the functions that a generic i9100 would and therefore be able to use the phone in the UK when I move there?
It might be a stupid question but I just thought I'd better be safe than sorry
Thanks in advance!
Yes, it won't be a problem

Yes it will work, whether you want to unlock it for rogers here in Canada or on a carrier in the UK, the process is the same. You can pretty much flash any rom you want, as rooting the bell phone pretty much breaks kies will to update. At least it did for me
Thanks guys! I thought that I had to go through a different process for unlocking and modifications, thanks again for clearing that up I will be on my way to purchase a SGSII very soon

[Q] Flashing CustomROM removes Branding?

I am considering buying a branded Motorola Atrix (O2 branding) and just wanted to know if i will be able to flash a custom ROM on it when i root it or if the branding prevents that? In case it’s possible, can the flash remove the branding?
The shop specifies for the branding:
No hardwarebranding, only start up animation
I searched for similar threads but it seems as if this depends on the specific model so i wanted to make sure if it works in my case.
Thx in advance
I'm not sure if i get your question..but let me give you my experience..
I got an AT&T atrix nd rooted it, then i flashed the darkside rom on it, earlier the status bar showed AT&T on it, now it doesn't.
And the AT&T boot animation has been replaced with a Darkside boot animation also.
So, no visible reference exists to AT&T exists in my atrix.
Hope that helps.
Cheers
Thx a lot, that’s exactly what I wanted to know. Sometimes i just have a hard time getting my ideas across since English isn’t my first language.

[Q] AT&T to T-Mobile S3

Hey guys. I couldn't get AT&T to unlock my s3 so I downgraded to android 4.1.1 to do the free unlocking method. It worked, but my phone has AT&T apps in it, and when updating it says crap like updating from AT&T server or w/e.
When using ODIN, was I supposed to install the AT&T or the T-Mobile version of the 4.1.1 android?
I figured since it's an at&t phone I have to reinstall the at&t so it doesnt mess up the drivers or anything (I totally made up that conclusion myself).
Also, I don't get 4g LTE now and only get E internet. Do I have to do some settings so the phone cooperates with T-Mobile?
As always, thank you very much for the helping hands.

You're probably going to need to setup the apns for Tmobiles network to work for your phone fully.
It automatically made one called tmobile but I dont know if I have to edit it.
Was I supposed to install android 4.1.1 for at&t or tmobile?

As far as i know you should be fine on the at&t rom, You're just going to need to edit those apns probably.

Well, how about this? I install the T-Mobile rom. Shouldn't that have the proper apns?
Now another question comes to mind. Since this is originally an at&t phone, will installing the T-Mobile rom mess it up?
Anyone? Help plz
