Okay so I have the vibrant and lately my wifi will not connect. it says obtaining ip address then it says unsuccessful every time i try to connect. i have tried rooting it unrooting it , reset , airplane mode, apps from the market that claim to fix wifi problem .... everything and no luck. I know this is a problem with galaxy s phones just like the gps issue. has anybody had this problem and if so how did you fix it. Thanks
o yea and its not my router because my old g1 and my husbands vibrant connects fine.
You most likely have a defective phone and you should have no problem getting it replaced by Tmo.
I don't always complain, but when I do, I #BlameWes
Its just crazy because it was working fine until about 4days ago and i have had it since it came out....i already called tmobile but i didnt want a replacment phone just yet...i wanna see if its like the gps bug and if froyo will fix it..

I've got a Vibrant (Galaxy S) I recently bought off craigslist. It seemed to work pretty well when I first got it and gave it a factory reset. After about a week i noticed that people kept texting me to "pick up your phone" but the problem was it never rang, never even showed a missed call. If I restarted the phone, made a phone call, then everything would work fine for a few hours, then no more calls would come in. I've tested this in soooo many ways only to find that the trigger appears to be the data connection. I did try disabling data and every call went through just fine until data was restarted.
I've hypothesized that when my phone connects to data it is blocking the normal cell phone service, and never giving the phone priority back until I make an outgoing phone call.
I've tried redoing the factory reset, upgrading to Froyo with keis, Rooting & flashing Nero ROM (which is fantastic BTW), adding phone prioritizer script, running taskkiller, messing with various settings and I am getting nowhere.
I am somewhat new to how the samsung works hardwarewise (I'm coming from an HTC Dream G1) and really need some suggestions. I've been drawing blanks after Googling for days!! Please help!!
Weird. You're using 3G, right?

I will try flashing a modem and post results in a bit, but so far I've been unable to understand what a modem is. Is that like a Radio or SPL? (again I am more familiar with G1 lingo)
Alright, flashed kb1 modem. Working so far, I can receive calls and interrupt data session (market download, map, facebook, etc) I'll update if problem persists.

Update: Still using KB1 modem (battery slightly worse) and BionixV
Went for a trip away from the house this weekend and calls went through flawlessly, so I'm thinking this could be a coverage issue.
However, whenever I turn data off at home, phone calls always work and I always have at least 2 bars. So probably some sort of a hardware issue? I still feel like it get's hung up on data hardware and isn't switching to cell phone mode.
Still looking for more ideas or contacts. Should I pursue contacting Samsung? Am I outta luck with this being a craigslist find?
Had a buddy with access to small tools and some chip diagnostic equipment root around inside the phone. He said he found "3 circuits are shot all pins" Personally I don't know how a phone continues to work after that? Anyway, looks like I got burned on this craigslist find.
So if you have this problem, get a new phone... I'm just gonna pretend it is a mini tablet for now.

I've searched and searched and never ran into this thread, I'm wondering if I have the same problem with chip burned!!!! If anyone reads, please check out my post below

Got my evo yesterday, and last night while I slept the phone locked up requiring a battery pull, then did it again someone before I woke up.
Anyone had any issues with this? I was running juice defender on default setting, but not sure how that would affect anything

i didn't have those kind of issues, but my Notification bar wouldn't scroll down when i syped the screen and my home buttons wouldn't respond.
took it to sprint showed them the issue then the issue went away, they ran a diagnostic test on the device nothing came back wrong with it even after wiping the phone it would randomly do it. So they gave me a new device since then no problems.
The store basically told me it wasn't in their list of issues, so he couldn't do anything

Tell them you'll just return the phone then. You want a new one they need to give you it.
I've had my phone for a week and I was having wake problems at random times each day. I did a hard reset on the phone with Sprint tech support three days in, and I also did a factory reset with a rep from HTC in online chat a day or two later. When I pulled my phone out of my purse to make a call today, it wouldn't wake up again so I brought it back to the Sprint store and they replaced it since I had already done everything they could have done for me there.
I'd just try to talk to another rep... good luck!

Don't listen that that. You just paid for a brand new device, which should work perfectly. It seems as though you have a defect in yours, and you're within the 30 days from purchase date. Under Sprint's 30 day return policy, you are entitled to exchange it for a properly working device, or just return it and tell the guy to go chew on marbles. Then go buy a new one from a different Sprint store.

So I went ahead and did a complete reset of phone data again, and installed only 2 apps, Google Voice and XDA
didn't lock up last night and has been up about 12 hours now without a boot
so far so good
Numerous problems for mine & I'm now on my 3rd phone. The last phone kept rebooting on It's own.

finally it kept locking up and a few resets today so the manager at the store replaced it (next time I'm going straight to the manager, sheesh)
I don't mind (and expect) other little bugs, but my phone locking up (which is WORSE than resetting, because alarm clocks won't go off, etc and I was late for work) is a major problem when it happens half a dozen or more times a day
the new one has been doing much better though
I've been searching around for a solution to this issue for a long time, but seems like I'm the only one suffering from it.
My Telus S3 works great with my 2005 Acura TL for a few weeks, and then suddenly, after I go into the car, the bluetooth will connect automatically, but the Handsfree Links system within the car will stuck, showing a "In Use" message on the HUD, as if I'm making a call. And the only voice commands available are: Transfer, Send, Go back, Cancel, none of the commands go anywhere, even the go back and cancel wouldn't do a thing, as well as the "Hang up" button on the steering wheel. It will stuck in that status for anywhere around 5-20 mins, and then it'll hang up by itself and everything works fine again, I can make phone calls and everything.
The only solution I found is to go into my phone and call someone, before the call even connected, I hang up, this will "reset" the call status, and it won't stuck anymore. But this is very annoying to do every time you entering your car...
Un-pairing, delete and re-pairing doesn't help either. As soon as I pair my phone to the car, it'll stuck. I tried my old Galaxy S on my car after this happens, it works like a charm. And before I got my S3, I've been using my S1 with my car for more than 2 years and never had a problem.
So this definitely seems like something is wrong with my S3, I talked to Telus support, they said they never heard of this problem before, and they suggest me to do a factory reset, but it'll be a pain to reinstall everything so I haven't tried it yet, just want to hear what you guys think first.
EDIT: sorry, just realized I posted on the wrong forum, please move this for me, thanks.
So nobody has this issue?
bump
Just found out my friend using a S2 is having a similar issue with his bluetooth handset, and yet there's nobody on xda-developers has this problem?
hmmmm....

There's loads on XDA with issues with the bluetooth, it's the reason this will probably be my last Samsung phone as they simply can't get it to work reliably and the same issues keep cropping up on all their models.

Yes i can see that, but it seems like people are having issue *pairing* the phone to the car, but my phone pairs with my car every single time, never had a problem with that, it's just after pairing, the car got stuck in call mode for 5-20mins..... :crying:
I've got Razr MAXX. XT910.
I got it with completely stock software. Everything was working fine, until an hour later I couldn't text properly. Like, half the time the text I send doesn't reach the receiver. And almost all the time when I get someone's text, I get over and over again. The same text. For no apparent reason. I tried to see if the receiver was being charged for the texts, no they weren't.
This was about six months ago. A month after I got the phone, I rooted the it, changed the ROM. It worked fine for about half a day and I thought I'd fixed the problem but no I again started getting the texts over and over again.
Then two days ago I put in the stock JB ROM (AU) on the phone. It worked fine for about two days this time. I thought I'd fixed it this time, but no today I started the same reply over and over again, AGAIN!
Can it be because the guy at the store cut my SIM card in a wrong way? It's not a network issue but I don't know what to do.
Hope someone can help me. Thanks!

Hi, I had very similar issue like you when I bought XT910 aswell. I wasn´t getting any messages (but sender saw them as "received") and after some time (like 2 days or so) or after reboot all texts came in at same time, and every text usually came about 8-10 times in row... Funny was that everything worked when I put my SIM in different phone.
Was looking for solution many and many weeks, and I found it - I went to my carrier, and got my SIMCard replaced, suddenly all problems were solved just like that So I think its worth the shot.
Hope it helps.
Thank you so much for the reply I'm gonna go get it replaced tomorrow then! Thank you so much this bug has been annoying me for weeks!
Thanks again!
