[Q] notification bar missing/gone - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

My notification bar doesn't show up, I tried factory reset but didnt work. I checked the file and systemui.apk is missing. Prior to missing I was flashing ROM and now its gone, how can I go back to stock or bring my notification bar back?

There's this thing called nandroid...you use it to back up your phone before you start playing with it.
Real answer...you could probably flash the rooted system file from the development section that would fix your problem and not trip your counter.

[Q] Stock recovery??

well, does anyone know how to fix this...i put the bootstrap recovery on my photon thinking i would use it at some point...and it turns out i don't, and well, i wanna get rid of it, because now i can't charge my phone when it's turned off, it either will boot into the recovery or just hang at the moto symbol screen and i have to pull the battery to get it to work again
In the recovery app you use to boot to recovery there is a charge mode clicking that will get you what you want or you can rsd back to stock ....next time ask in general tho

Check this and see if its what you are looking for. It will take you back to the current OTA update and not rooted, but rooting is the easy part.

just an fyi... all i did to go back to stock form is go into your settings menu under privacy and select the "data factory reset"... worked fine for me and got rid of root... checked with the root check from the app market... no need to go through all those extra steps... hope this helps...

Not sure what you did but I performed 2 full factory resets via settings and one via fastboot and still had root. Also, quote from Motorola: "A factory reset will not remove root, or restore apps that are uninstalled."
Maybe you did something else to remove root? Anyways, after all the factory resets I could still do backups, run bootstrap recovery, flash, and run all root apps.
From what I know one has to either flash the OTA/update.zip or take the official update to remove root. Or, if dock method is used can just remove some files and reboot I think.
I'm kind of curious as to why a simple method to returning back to stock recovery is not mentioned here. It would be nice to have this if possible. Flashing back to stock ROM seems to be the only real option I take it?

[Q] Need Help! sgs2 stuck

Hello i have an sgs2 from At&t and i was trying to root but was unsuccesful and now i have this message on my screen when i turn it on " Frimware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". I could use any advice or help. I have search and tried alot of things but no luck. Please thanks.
What method did u use to root?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
And importantly did you attempt the recovery through kies?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
i used the "how to easily root your sgs2" method using odin. I tried to use the recovery through kies but it asks for a code and it wont connect to my phone.
It sounds like your phone is still half functioning. Try booting into recovery,
With the phone off hold down both volume keys and power button until you see the first screen, then let go of the power button.
If it's stock recovery you'll be able to do a factory restore(wipe). If CWM choose wipe data factory reset.
After rebooting it might work.
Worst case you can put it back in download mode and try odin again.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
If you can't get it into download mode you may have serious issues.
Might need to build a usb jig or buy one.
Contemplate a return.
If you tried everything, and I mean everything to get it into download mode, i.e. jig, "adb reboot", then neither can they. Can't see anything you did.

I just tried that but all i get is the firmware error screen. And i would try reflashing through odin but i dont know what to reflash the kernal that i was trying to root or something else??
and i have thought about returning it but i want to eventually root it so i would like to know what im doing wrong or how to fix it. thanks for all the help

You never did tell us what KIES has to do with ROOTING ?
I would definitely flash back to stock. Stock will never further mess it up. Not to mention there is the stock rom that's prerooted. By using that one you won't get a yellow triangle on boot. Nor will the counter go up from changing the kernel.

If he downloaded an international rom then he can't use the stock recovery as the power button on the international roms aren't the select key. They have an actual hardware button to select. I found that out the hard way.

That is probably true cuz i downloaded a 1900 or something odin file to get back to stock but it was not the right one as i now know it should have been I777.

At least you got download mode working. With that working there should be no issue about fixing your phone.
Just keep in mind depending on if "everything flashed from the international version you possibly will also need to flash the right modem.
I wouldn't worry about that until you got the phone up and working.
It's best to keep each step as simple as possible, especially for the first time you're trying it.

ok so i downloaded the stock rooted rom and im using odin 1.85 but it stops at factoryfs.img, any ideas??? thanks again for all the help
Not good. I wish I could offer more help. At least it didn't stop at flashing the bootloaders.
There's not too much you can do at this point. You can try waiting seeing if it changes.
You can hope if you do unplug it that you can get it back into download mode. Then try odin again. Though I'd make sure the checksum of the download matches up to make sure it downloaded properly.
No one wants to be the one to say unplug it in the middle of an odin procedure, but if no progress is being made after a reasonable amount of time, there's not much left to do.

Question about return

Hey guys. I just got my replacement phone from ATT mailed in since my old one's power button broke. I have a few questions about getting it back to stock AND doing so to reset my flash counter ( its at 1 now and i dont want them to void my warranty and make me pay for it :/) As of now, i do not have a jig, but one is one the way.
first off i had planned on flashing 4.0.3 and installing triangle away. i was told that this would get rid of the yellow triangle AND reset the flash counter. Will this work?
Next, does flashing back to stock through odin/heimdall readd to the flash counter where it'd go back to 1? if so, is there a way back to stock and be unrooted without increasing the flash counter
I'm also assuming doing a master clear will not increase it, as i dont want them to send them my data.
I would really appreciate some help. Thanks in advance
UPDATE: The triangle away worked successfully and flashing via odin kept the count at 0 as i thought. My new problem is when i booted up after going back to stock, i get a bootloop at the att logo. Anyone have any alternative links to getting to a nonroot version of samsung stock?

It would be worth a try... go the the Download Repository and flash the I777UCKH7-CL503881 Stock Binaries package which contains cache.img and hidden.img. It also contains the bootloaders and param but you shouldn't have to worry too much about that. That might allow your phone to boot.

Restore S3 for replacement

Hey guys!
Is there a proper way of restoring the s3 so that I can send it back for a replacement?
I know I can flash the stock rom, but what about the flash counter? Or anything else?
Thank you!

EDIT: ok, i;ve tried triangle away app, and it works, I now have 0 counter and official status. But is this and flashing the stock rom enough?

As far as I remember from other threats you have to have "original status" and the flash counter "0". In addition double check if you got any "root" apps on your S3 or sdcard just in case.

Well yeah. I am going to flash the stock rom, reset the counter and reset to factory settings and format everything before sending it back.
But besides that, do I need to do anything else? Is there a chance that the replacement might get refused?
Thanks!
Yes. These are enough.

Note 2 rebooting

I have a note 2 that I kept stock for a long time. And decided to root it about a week ago. I used the latest casual one click root. And it seemed all dandy initially until i went between a few different roms and it decided it wanted to shut off randomly and not boot back up past the note 2 screen on its own. But the odd part was it booted while connected to the wall or to the computer. So I flashed to 4.1.2 stock via odin and the issue still remains. I can only use it fine on charger. Is there something else im missing on flashing back to stock?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using XDA Free mobile app
Hmm when you installed 4.3 did you do so wiping everything could be an app causing the problem. Try it from brand new with no apps installed and see if that helps. Could be also a radio issue as well.
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
Yeah I wiped everything. Actually used odin twice to revert to stock 4.1.2. I tried a few cm nightlies before it began. Is there anything else I should flash on top of whats already been done?

I've found that even after using ODIN to go back to stock 4.1.2, that there's still leftover data on the phone from custom ROM's. I've read where others had the same issue. I don't know why Odin doesn't seem to fully wipe everything ... but this has been my personal experience.
The way I've fixed this (and all this may not be necessary).. . is that after Odin'ing back to stock 4.1.2, I boot into stock recovery, then do a full factory reset and wipe cache. Then I booted into the stock Rom and used the bypass setup trick (touch the left side of the screen right above Emergency... then right side, then left, then right again, and then volume up... this should bypass setup to save time).
Then went into phone's settings and performed a factory reset from within the stock Rom too...
Finally... (because I'm a bit OCD... so this is probably not necessary), but I ODIN'd back to stock 4.1.2 one more time and then proceeded with using CASUAL again to root /unlock the bootloader).
I know this is a pain in the butt... but this has worked for me. Maybe others will have some better suggestions.
(Edit : Forgot to mention that if you're not wanting to return to stock to start over again... check out this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53624921) on how to flash a stock recovery for the purposes of doing a proper data wipe... then can you odin your custom recovery back to the device without having to fully restore to stock... this can be a real time saver. Please make sure to thank the OP for the helpful info).
So in the end I tried to reset from stock recovery and wipe cache. Than do a reset from the settings and the issue presisted. But now I have root and recovery as well. So I may give a rom a try.

This is totally a guess, but I'm thinking that you may have a battery problem... and it's just a coincidence that these problems started happening around the same time that you rooted. You may try replacing the battery to see if that fixes things.... (you can get one pretty cheap off ebay or Amazon).
Yeah thats odd. I had bought another battery from a phone store I use to work at and have no issues now, back on 4.1.1 rooted.
