Hi, recently upgraded to Saurom and there's a menu I want to get rid of. Whenever I put the phone in silent (using power button or by using 'volume down'), a menu pops up asking "when do you want to turn the ringer back on?" with scheduling options. I'd rather just put the phone on silent without this nagging menu--any ideas?
As far as I've been able to tell, you can't. You may get a better response if you ask in the saurom QA thread, though.
Silent Phone
You'll need to uninstall silent phone from the Settings->Applications->Manage Applications->All section.
I removed it right away, it's has a big red phone icon in the list.
Thank you!! Hope this helps someone else too.

If your Vibrant has been acting up recently, not vibrating for SMS/Emails, or just plain not vibrating at all - I may have found a fix that doesn't require a HARD RESET.
I searched and searched the Vibrant forums as this morning, I was having a MAJOR problem as far as my vibrations not working for my SMS or GMail. I changed NOTHING - I installed NO APPS, yet for some reason this morning, i stopped getting vibrations.
Just wanted to let you guys know my phone was set up for perfect notifications, with vibration checked in EACH individual program, and overall vibration checked for notifications and ringtones. Vibrate for SMS wasn't working for silent / vibrate / or ringer mode.
I saw that this may be an unresolved issue, and found a few posts on other forums addressing the issue.
Go to Market
Download "Sound Manager"
Run it
Press menu
Vibrate settings
make sure under BOTH ringer and notification vibrate, you have "VIBRATE WHENEVER POSSIBLE" checked.
This fixed all of my vibration problems, now it's super vibratey again lol.
Hope this helps, saw a few of you had still unanswered posts regarding loss of vibration.
Thanks for the tip!
I've been screwing around with my settings all morning trying to figure out why the hell my phone vibrations were not working correctly. A search on this forum led me to this post.
Followed your instructions and problem solved. Thanks a bunch.
Is their actually a place in the stock settings where you can select vibration alerts for incoming text messages and email messages?
For SMS, go into the main Messaging screen (where it shows the seperate threads for each contact) and hit the menu key. Then go to settings. The last option is for vibration.

Ah, never looked at the menu before. Thanks!
Awesome worked for me. Thanks
There's also an app called "Quick Settings" that fixes the vibration for this phone.

The GMail app also has the vibrate option.
fixed and no need to keep the sound manager installed if not wanted
Fixed my problem here, Galaxy S Vibrant. I recall downloading sound manager a week or so ago and uninstalled the same day. Was pleased to find that reinstalling, leaving the may vibrate whenever button checked, and uninstalling the program lead to good vibrations. plz 4give me This site has been a great resource, TY all
lol i just rebooted my phone...
So i have set vibrate whenever possible checked for both options and have checked vibrate on the menu>settings and sms>menu>settings etc. But it still doesnt vibrate when i received texts or called in vibrate mode. when i adjust volume on the side, it doesnt vibrate when i turn it down to the vibrate setting. also, haptic doesnt work. could my vibrating mechanism be broken or something? or is it a software problem?
I use my phone as a vibrator.

Did you flash a new ROM? I'm not familiar with galaxy y??
I approve this message.
On my other phones, when you keep pushing volume down, the ringer transitions from ring, to vibrate, to silent. But on the the photon, it goes from ring to vibrate. How do I tottaly silence it?
I wish there was a silent toggle. Sometimes I want both the ring to vibrate...but not always. I need a quick toggle.
if you press and hold the power button. it will pop up a menu. sound off is one of the options. you can also set the sounds off using the settings app.
I'd recommend downloading "simple sound profile widget" - it is similar to the profiles back when I had a nextel and a black berry. I put a widget that has the option of normal, silent, or vibrate - very quick and easy!

Or just hold the down volume key and when you feel it vibrate, you will be in Silent mode...
I know what u mean
This option was gone since froyo for some weird reason
Only cm7 brings that way back (via volume rocker)

Oh yeah. Probably would've helped if I read teh manual, but who does that
I wish there was a way to turn on vibrate individually quickly instead of going through the settings.
Huh?! It isn't gone. I use it all the time. Just press and hold the down volume key and it'll switch to Silent Mode...

it either goes ring to silent
or ring to vibrate
as i said back in the day, it would go from ring to vibrate to silent
to the OP, go to settings, sound, and play with the vibrate settings and ull get what u want
Yeah, that's right...
My bad, I didn't really check.
Damn, why'd they remove that feature...

Been using this very nice phone for a couple of weeks now and loving it. Got checkrom v4 on it and it is running nice, with one issue.
I use silent mode when I am at work, so as not to annoy my office mates, with it coming on automatically using tasker. When I leave it is turned off, and audible selections is activated in the settings even though it was of before entering silent mode. Does this happen normally our have I stuffed something up in tasker? If it happens normally is there a way of preventing this?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I don't use tasker but not sure about that but when I put the phone on silent the touch tones remain silent.
You may also want to go into settings / sounds and lower the system volume which also lowers that. I find that the stock touch volume is too high.
Sent from my GT-I9100T
Hmm maybe I phrased it wrong. I have the audible selections unchecked before I put silent mode on, then silent mode comes on, and they stay unchecked, but when silent mode turns off they become checked again. Its not a big deal to uncheck it but it just annoys me (yea I know first world problem!)
Might see if I can turn down the stock volume to minimal for this and see if it makes a difference, probably the simple solution to the issue (can live without touchtones on the dial pad).
So I just bought this Photon, and it will not vibrate. My settings are as follows: settings --> sound --> vibrate always is checked // text messages --> messaging settings --> also vibrate when notified is checked
I have tried two factory resets, one through UI, one through fast boot. I just did the OCR and tried it that way.. no luck. The phone does not vibrate on messages, haptic feedback, restarts, or phone calls.
Vibrate was, unfortunately, not top on my list of things to check before purchasing the damn thing. Now, I've got it, and I'd really love some help and direction. Thanks in advance
are you able to volume down andset the phone to vibrate?
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Yes, and it shows vibration mode, but no actual vibration... as I was playing around with it today, I noticed that there's something loose inside the casing of the phone that is moving around when I shake it. I'm beginning to think that this is a hardware issue...
Does it give you feedback when you type? If not, I would say its a hardware issue and you should take it back.
I didn't know Safe Mode existed until I called HTC today. Basically, the tech support told me that safe mode disables all 3rd party apps, which is pretty useful if you need to determine whether an app is screwing up your phone. While in safe mode, you can still call, text, and use data.
To access safe mode:
1) Completely power off your phone
2) Turn it on
3) On the HTC splash screen (or your own custom splash screen) hold down Volume Down
4) Keep holding it down until phone boots up completely
5) Phone should vibrate and should say "Safe Mode" on the bottom left corner
Sorry if this is old news. I did a search and didn't find anything on this topic.
While I'm at it, I'm just going to throw in a question. The reason why I called HTC is because my phone randomly restarts or turns off. When it turns back on, I get a gray battery icon. Does any one know about this issue? PM me your answers to keep this thread clean. Thanks!
