audio out with usb dock vs jack 3.5...hum - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear all,
i have bought the official samsung dock for my car, the one that can charge + external jack, just plug and enjoy but...
the good is just plug it and by aux in my car i can enjoy the music...but wow there is no bass, quality is low sound, let's say it is just acceptable..
Last time i decide to plug the same cable but no more in the dock itself, but in the stereo 3.5 jack of the SGS2 phone, wow the quality is really different !!,
the same issue append with the one of my wife (same phone).
So my question, do you think the sound that is routed by usb to externel dock jack is different processed that the sound that goes out to headphone 3.5 ? any patch to correct this to enjoy to plug just all in the dock and not to plug always the 3.5 in each session...
i am with 2.3.5

Mini USB pin outs

Are all mini USBs pins configured the same??
Reason i'm asking is that i saw this...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3-5mm-Audio-H...9QQihZ012QQcategoryZ42404QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
..and wondered if it will work on my MDA vario II??
Also I've seen a few Bluetooth headsets with a mini USB connectors for charging duties... Ideally I'd like to use the same charger for phone and headset (voltage dependant obviously).
No, that one wont work, and its a mono 3.5mm adaptor anyway, the audio doesnt come out of the normal mini usb pins, it comes out of the pins on the other side of the connector,
You cant get a 11pin usb to 3.5mm heaphone adaptor for love nor money at the moment in the UK, even HTC dont have any!!
I unsoldered the headphones from the crappy headset that comes with the Vario2 and soldered a 3.5mm socket onto the pads on a 1" long flying lead, and the sound quality is absolutely awesome plugged into my Koss portapro headphones, loads of volume, a decent amount of bass and just slightly muted treble response, but perfect good enough for me!

help please - charge & headset

Hi I've had an htc HD was looking at HD2 but the TG01 looks a far better option for the amount it costs.
Can someone confirm for me though does this phone have a 3.5mm audio jack - or it that provided only through the converter for the mini-usb ?
if yes to the above is it possible to charge this phone and have a headset connected via 3.5mm ?
reason I want o do this is my car audio has aux in via a 3.5 mm cable and I often used my HD in the car but needed to charge it at the same time.
thanks for any help

Hi,
The TG01 does NOT have a 3.5mm jack; only the micro-USB port. You can however use a uUSB to 3.5mm adapter perfectly OK. Audio quality is excellent.
It is however limited in that currently you cannot charge at the same time. The uUSB standard anticipates the future availability of an external intelligent adapter to control this type of use (eg. car kit); the chips appear to be available to do this, but as yet no 3rd party devices you can buy.
A practical solution is to use a Bluetooth audio adapter with your own earphones (or to feed the car's Aux input) - something like the Sony Ericsson range. Or simply have a spare battery available.
There is more information here and here about connecting via uUSB.
that's really helpful, thanks for that

3.5mm jack to aux + USB charger issue

I've got a USB charging cradle in my car which works fine.
I use a 3.5mm cable to connect my mp3 player to the car stereo which works fine.
I tried playing music from my HD to the stereo whilst charging and I get awful white noise and a constant pinging noise. If I take the phone off the charger it works fine. I can't find anything in the wiki or forums and I've seen some people on other forums with the same problem.
Anyone know what is wrong with this setup or I need a different spec cable (I guess its a standard stereo 3.5mm cable, so 3 contacts and I think the HTC one has 4 coz of the mic, but it works fine when I stop charging it. I guess it could also be a problem with the pins on the USB charger, but I thought the HD didn't have the extUSB connection.
I'm off to the USA on Sunday with a hire car so it would be really handy to be able to charge and play music!

mp3 stereo dock....dumb question perhaps?

Hello....If i am using a samsung captivate or htc evo etc,......Can i plug these phones into an ihome? or any dock stations made for ipods but have an AUX?
Cant i plug in my micorub into the usb or whatever?
if not, what speakers exist, when im outside and wanna hear music louder, id like to plug my phone into a radio, one taht is somewhat portable and can be plugged into ac outlet.
thanks for any help? or any ebay links would be great too.
i got my own answer and bought a male to male 3.5mm adapter which i can then plug into the aux.
I have been looking into the bluetooth models myself

[Q] Car aux-in not detected as headphones

Something weird is going on here.
I have just bought an aux-in cable (ai-net to 3.5mm jack) to plug my phone (Wiko Darkmoon, MTK 6582 based) to my car stereo (JVC G511), but the phone doesn't recognize when I plug in the jack.
However, if I turn up the volume on the car, I can hear music both from the phone speaker and from the car's.
What does this mean?
I tried also with my brother's Moto G, and it correctly plays music through the headphone jack, but with a quite low volume.
Can it be something software related? My phone has 4.2, my brother's has kitkat. Or maybe something is wrong with the cable's pinout? I opened one end of the cable and I see three wires, and this should be enough from what I got to understand.
Btw, my phone works okay with normal headphones
