Well im on a nexus now. Funny that I'm still lurking here more then the nexus forums...beings that I'm still gonna be using my droidx2 for multimedia purposes at home via wifi because of the HDMI and other docks I have. Will I still be getting the update? Guessing it only goes through Verizon...maybe its a good thing. Also thanks for the help I've gotten from everyone here. This forum unlike the other device forums has always had a positive vibe and friendly to noobs

Wifi is good for all OTAs. The vz servers are on the net.

How does that thing work as a phone?
Can get calls as clear as the dx2?

The "ota" is just used distinguish it from usb not wifi.

I've noticed a few devs updating their posts just to change the date, but not changing anything about the Rom itself. I find it slightly misleading to post the present (or future, in some cases) date on the post title, just to click on the post and find it's the same Rom I downloaded a couple of days ago with no update. I have actually started to ignore the posts in some cases. It's just a heads-up to devs that they may want to change this practice.
Overall, I'd like to thank ALL devs for the fantastic Roms, and because of them, I have acquired FlashRom Syndrome! Proud to be a sick puppy!!!
Which ones are doing that? I haven't seen this happen at all.
Same here, did not see any. Some have svn for updates, where they are updated nightly..possibly you are referring to them. For instance myn'n rom, update hourly...almost...

sometimes secondly or minutely lol
I understand SVN, as I use it to update Synergy and VR updates. This post date thing used to be a problem on the OG Evo forum, the post title would say the current date, but the Rom was last updated 1-2 weeks ago....again, no big deal, just an observation. I'm not going to single out a dev here, it's not about that. As I've stated in a few PM's so far, it must be OCD kicking in....

Is Myn going to start posting his Roms on XDA? I haven't seen it so far there, just on the Rootzwiki.

Im looking to put an add in craigslist and just wondering what a fair price might be for the fascinate?
What ROM are you on? I'd say a rooted Fascinate running ICS is worth a fair bit more than a stock one.
---------- Post added at 04:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:09 PM ----------
Looked on Ebay, maybe $150?
Is there a way to root it on a Mac? I had it rooted at one point then went back to stock now I no have a PC so can't use the same method.
Sent from my Kindle Fire
No, I'm afraid. You could try Android apps that give you root, like VISIONary of GingerBreak.

Hello
I'm new in the custom rom scene. I tried to flash CM10.1 on my SGS2. First I wanted to wipe the data partition, then the device suddenly turned off. After that it wont boot anymore. I tried an USB-jig but no reaction. The phone was on Stock ICS 4.0.4 rooted with I think PhilZ-CWM6 3.81. The first time I brick my phone and then a fullbrick. Now my question is, what did I wrong? I want do that experience anymore in the future. And sorry for my bad English I'm from Switzerland.

Sorry mate, you've got the brickbug right there. Read here -

Well done, its not like there are HUNDREDS of threads on the 4.0.4 stock kernel brick bug. Moral of the story, READ THE STICKIES.

I think the guy deserves a "thanks" for the title.

Thanks for the "thanks" you got one back. And thanks for the answers. So we can say it's the fault of Samsung? :good:
How is it the fault of Samsung when this is a known issue ?
If you were an ordinary user with a stock phone, you did a wipe & the phone crapped itself, then it would be Samsung's fault. But when you begin 'messing' with your phone, fail to do your 'homework' (despite information re: this particular issue being plastered all over the place) & your bork your phone, that's your fault.
You are right. I have to inform me before I do something like that, but it's difficult there are so many threads and posts and my English is not the best. I will search for a thread (or app) were all traps are listed.
Blame it on Samsung as long as you are convinced that the only thing you did was to wipe on 4.0.4.
As long as it happens while on that kernel it really doesn't matter what you were trying to do.
Brick bug was spotted on august or september, samsung learnt about it right away and kept releasing flawed 4.0.4 kernel.

You can try this guide, I have no idea if it will work because I never tried it

You just need to be sure you actually have that brick bug.

Thanks for the tip but it doesn't work for me. I can't get into recovery- or download-mode. The device is full bricked. Now I need a new board.
I prefer stepping on it repeatedly and then stomping it
---------- Post added at 07:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:28 PM ----------
But dont worry all phones are initially only hardware and software is added later on so u mustn't have bricked it as bad as u think

What happens when you just connect it without battery via usb.

Well, you wanted to know how to brick your phone, so here you go.

If u want to mess with rooting/flashing/etc u must to read, read and read, if u are not 100% shure how to do something use search/ask somewhere, i was reading xda for about 3-4+ months before i get my i9100 so now i know many things, now just waiting for samsung to release source codes and i9100 will be again powerful device
read, red, read and read!
Yes, it is a good English lesson too.
Connect the phone and goto device manager to see if theres any device detected. If not, then head to customer centre but rooting voids warranty but if you tip the guy maybe he'll work it over
---------- Post added at 08:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:58 AM ----------
I have heard that theres tool to flash partitions of devices back. Google it and you may find something but it still requires the device to be detected
---------- Post added at 08:11 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:04 AM ----------
Could it be a case that you were flashing the rom and simultaneously some circuit part just blew off and so its not your fault but again you can't claim warranty also
---------- Post added at 08:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:11 AM ----------
If I had bricked it I would cry so hardly ==" I will try more helpful with replies but its so hard to be helpful in this case
