Mine said imei was invalid and to double check. I sent a screenshot of it but not heard back yet. I also emailed customer support asking if the offer will be extended to other networks but not heard off them yet either.
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk
i bought mine from o2 online and they are saying my imei is not valid.
replied saying my phone is locked to o2 and o2 branded, not heard back from them yet
A bit like Tesco's iPads
This whole story smells a little like the recent scandal with the Tesco offer to sell the new iPad 3 for £49.99
For those who don't know it, due to a 'computer'(?) error, Tesco advertised the wrong price (a 90% discount), a lot of people ordered - and were told that Tesco will not supply at this price. It is still hotly debated in the (social and mainstream) media.
In this case there isn't a price error - just a poorly designed promotion site where the O2 condition is buried in a separate PDF 'Terms and conditions' document (which, naturally, nobody reads) and is not mentioned anywhere on the actual promotion page. Many people - yours truly included - naively filled the form, only to be told they are not eligible.
Despite the 'Sony' domain, this is not Sony - they have their epic gaffes but cannot be so unprofessional. The UK promotion is outsourced (possibly by O2) to an outfit called 'Mad About Handling Ltd' run by a couple, Annabel and Angus Gilmour. Their 'professionalism' shines in that form and website - and in the subsequent handling of complaints.
Some victims may wish to run a retaliation campaign on Twitter and Facebook - like the Tesco crowd, who are currently causing serious reputation damage to the retailer. I wouldn't bother, though -
Just ignore!

This isnt anything to try and catch people out, on the launch of the Xperia S, stock in O2 stores was supposed to come with 4 SmartTags in the box but Sony weren't able to do so in time for the launch offer, so customers were told to go to that site to redeem the offer. All stock in O2 stores now should come with 4 SmartTags in the box.

Tesco are suffering serious damage to their reputation over it? I really doubt anybody truly cares as long as they can get everything they want under one roof still.
As for the smart tag promotion, the address for the site was given to customers instore at o2, so there is no logical reason why anyone from another UK network would get the address and try to apply unless your network provided you with the promotional leaflet. So nobody was hiding the o2 clause in the t&c's, it is there, because the offer is only open to o2.
The two stories couldn't really be further apart.
I should point out that I do agree that it is stupid that it is just open to o2 customers. Why have the feature if you won't let everyone use it?!

Expansys is where I got my pre-order. I've never heard of them. I've heard of B&H, J&R, Best Buy, Newegg, and Gamestop having access to preorders, but who are these guys? They seemed legit so I gave them my preorder info. Any thoughts?
I don't think I've ever ordered with them, though if by "legit" you mean if they're real OR a scam in terms of a business, they seem to be an established business.

If by "legit" you mean they can deliver your Prime by Christmas or this month, that's something you'll find out on the receipt OR your order info, or by calling them. Hopefully someone else here can shed more light for you. (was there a reason you chose them and not the other companies you knew about already? like a special or something?)
Expansys is big for imported phones so they're definately legit. Their inventory systems are archaic and all communication is done manually. They keep bankers hours so they're hard to get in touch with. I'd say they're a poor choice for the Prime because they don't do a lot of business with Asus and communicating with them for a product that's touch-and-go will have you ripping your hair out. If companies that have sold a lot of Asus product in the past are having trouble with inventory I can't see how Expansys would fare any better.
Well, I chose them because they were the only company that still had pre-orders available.
I've heard of all the delays. I don't expect to be seeing my Prime before 2012 . Reeeeeally wish I hadn't sold my laptop/eReader preemptively....
With all the hype around this device, I just wondered if anyone had experience buying electronics from this company because I'd never heard of them before. Not only was I wondering about them as a business, I was wondering about how far down the totem pole they may be.
Thanks for the replies.

Ahh BarryH, thank you!
they are definitely a legit company, everything is based in the UK though but they are the place to go for imported phones, my friend ordered his S II from their because when it first came out that was like the only place but yes they will not steal your money or anything
My concern is that they dont metion the model number, and they dont show a picture of it and being that there the same name the first and second generation I think there selling the first ones.

That doesn't make sense because the new one is Transformer PRIME. (which is clearly on the order page and title) The new one also comes in two colors while the original only had one.
The order page also describes the Transformer Prime.
so i guess this confirms they really wont be issuing any sort of fix or solution?
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Asus-UK-Transformer-Prime-Refund-New-Model-TF700,14516.html
Misleading title is misleading. They're just saying if you don't like it, return it to the shop you purchased it, something you can do by Law. The only thing Asus are offering is an extension to the warranty.
Just curious... did you even read the article?
Asus is not offering refund, they are recommending people who are not happy with WiFi/GPS performance to return them to retailers.

Lmao I was thinking same thing OP fails.
Has anyone rang asus to take the extended warranty? I have and they dont know anything about it!
What about us in the United States? Do we get an extended warranty? It feels like, other than in Taiwan, the US was doing a bunch of beta testing on this thing.
That article basically says that the Wifi Issues will be fixed for the UK Version, but what about versions that have already been released?
How exactly is it misleading?
the company is now offering another alternative: A full refund. The company today said that extensive checks have confirmed that no units with WiFi issues have been supplied to customers in the UK, it is willing to refund customers that are still unhappy with their device.
"After extensive checks we can confirm that no units have been supplied to the UK with a known WiFi issue. Any customers experiencing WiFi issues specifically are advised to contact our support hotline on 0870 1208 340," Asus UK said. "Any customers who have purchased a Transformer Prime TF201 and are dissatisfied with the performance of the GPS module are advised to return the unit to their point of purchase for a full refund as per standard consumer rights that apply in the UK."

The article specifically says ASUS is offering a full refund.
The article says ASUS is asking customers who are dissatisfied, to take it back to their place of purchase.
Who says they haven't reached out to the retailers and instructed to offer full refunds, outside of the store policy?
And who the hell knows what "consumer rights as they apply in the UK" means?
I wish people would stop being so quick to judge posters. The link i posted may or may not be accurate, but no need to flame. Im not here trying to stir up ****, im trying to share info i came across.
Thank you.
PS, this article proves to me, more than anything, that ASUS has no intention of offering any solution to the weak wifi ... which pisses me off because otherwise i am in love with my tablet.
and yes, for a while i was hopeful that they would make some statement about it, offering some solution or cheap fix.
I dont want a refund, or a credit, money is not the issue .. i just want this tablet to have better wifi signal, that is all
So I just checked if there were any firmware updates available and there was one! Does anyone know what it does? Obviously I'm hoping it'll fix the rebooting issue but I'm wondering if anyone else has gotten it yet.
Edit: Whoops, I posted this to the wrong thread. I'd delete this post but I'm not sure if I'm able to.

In the Uk we have a number of consumer protections.
One is the distance selling regs which give peeps who buy a new Product (excepting opened software, mucic media or things like pants (underwear for our friends over the pond) earings etc where there is a hygiene element) a minimum of 7 days to look at a product and try it out (there are expectations to keep the original packaging and to look after the goods) and decide to keep it or return it.
Another consumer protection is the Consumer Protection act which protects all purchasers of goods and this protects consumers by stating that goods should be fit for purpose, this protection should last (a very subjective) for a reasonable life of the item and if a fault is found in the first six months the consumer should have the right for that item to be treated as if the fault was present at the point of sale. (it is not always easy to force this issue but there are remedies) so for example a Television that dies after 18 months could fall under this legislation as it would be reasonable for a TV to last longer than 18 months.
Another area in which we might be different is that in The UK the contract is between the seller and the purchaser, not between the manufacturer and the end user, so that Asus increasing the length of their warranty is over and above the responsibilities of the seller.
in the UK the grey TFP is as rare as rocking horse sh*t and there are very few outlets that have been able to distribute the TFP with the silver version is as common as a dodo! Asus has in all likelihood been in contact with the company who is distributing the TFP over here and arrangements have been made for the return of faulty TFP's to be made simple.
On another level I do not mind peeps griping about the goods but I get really pee'd of with those who take over the official asus rep started threads in which Asus are looking for patterns of the faults to help them narrow down the problems to work on fixes to vent their spleen: If i was an Asus rep I would be disheartened by this and feel that (I am sure they are working their nuts off) their efforts are not being appreciated and this also has an effect on me and other users; as it makes focussing on those issues all the harder because the likes of Gary are having to wade through a lot of irrelevant posts to get to the meat of the problem, and also some of the posts have been pretty insulting and personal to the point that I have reported a couple. I think Asus are being much more responsive than Apple was over the Iphone having difficulties making calls)
(Sorry for the rant in the previous paragraph but having read the three threads earlier it just had to come out and I was going to post similar on those threads but managed to check myself. It was not pointed at yourself or any individual in particular )
Hope the info on some of our consumer legislation was useful.
As indicated many countries outside the US have customer protection programs and this drives corporate decisions for those countries to make sure customers feel like a company that is getting bad press is trying to resolve the issues. Based on what we are seeing in the last week ASUS is stepping up to the plate in many ways to resolve their problems with the Prime.
Just wanted to post my experience for others contemplating dropping so much money on a tablet, and especially for those buying other than their country of residence.
Further to my post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2334953, I had to RMA my tablet.
I placed an order on thje US Sony Store, order SW13060100141 on June 1 2013 for the 16GB Wifi Tablet Z.
A few days ago while using my tablet with the standard Sony provided charger, the tablet shut off during use. It now no longer powers on. I spoke with Benny in Tech Support who troubleshot it with me and provided an event 1-689327814 to set up an RMA (R-SW13060100141-147) via FedEx.
On calling customer service I spoke to Rich, a supervisor, employee 18373 (reference to call 130623-001252) and I was advised that since I was now living in Canada and not back in the US until fall, I could not do a replacement to Canada, and I would have to drive back to the US from the Toronto area just to mail the tablet back for a refund.
I find it horrible that a company who operates globally such as Sony refuses to offer me an in-store option here in Canada, or even a shipping option for replacement in Canada. This is ridiculous, especially on such an expensive item.
I for one will have a hard time supporting Sony in the future given the "who cares" attitude, and the lack of regard for the situation I am in.
I am now stuck driving this all the way to Buffalo just to mail it since Sony is being difficult. I should have stuck with Samsung devices like I normally do - they honor US purchases in Canada and vice-versa, in my experience.
EDIT:
I had this escalated by Sony Canada. Apparently each division will honor the warranty of the other, and the US was just mistaken since I called them instead. They should have properly advised and forwarded me to the Canadian division. After contacting higher ups at the Canadian division I was provided with an RMA number to ship my tablet back.
I have been told they will try to confirm the cause of it just shutting off and dying, so I will update this thread accordingly once I hear, to close the loop.
The is completely wrong of Sony but sadly norm rather than the exception. There's a reason the US-Canada border is described as a one-way glass with the mirror pointing south. There are more examples than I can count.
When the original Xoom was first released in Canada months after the States, it had to be flashed to the US ROM to get updates from Google.
The Kindle Fire is just seeing its Canadian debut now — after Japan because heavens know it's easier to translate everything from American into Japanese that that incredibly alien Canadian/Canadien.
And then there are those newfangled Chromebooks … that weird across-the-board $10 markup in the Canadian Google Store (even Apple doesn't do that anymore) … Google Voice.
It really is very frustrating and such a stupidly artificial barrier — had you bought that tablet in the Canadian bit of the Sony Interwebs, in-store service in Canada would have been no problem. :banghead:
UK customers are being treated shockingly and appallingly by Samsung compared to other countries in regards to not being offered any compensation for the recall of the Note 7
We already have the disadvantage of paying a higher price for Samsung products
Denied the Galaxy Note 5 in 2015
Denied the launch of Samsung Pay
Delayed launches of new releases before other countries
And now being denied any sort of compensation for the double recall of the Galaxy Note 7. Despite other countries like the USA receiving $100 for the inconvenience.
In the UK we have not received:
Any cash compensation
Any compensation for loss of money due to buying accessories
Any discount for the replacement Galaxy S7 Edge that is offered by Samsung
What we did receive:
A patronising and poorly worded email, that implied the greatest gift Samsung could offer to it's disadvantaged customers was a refund.
Something that Samsung would be legally obliged to do in any case.
The only way to get what we deserve is to complain officially to Samsung.
So, I am here to help you:
There's an easy and efficient way to do this, completely free and powered by the trusted UK consumer rights guru Martin Lewis's 'Money Saving Expert' Website and the tool there called RESOLVER. My complaint was worded as follows:
Dear Customer Services,
Reference:
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 purchased directly from Samsung UK online. Compensation request due to the recall of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
Complaint:
Samsung have not offered any compensation to UK customers who have endured several weeks of a double recall of the Galaxy Note 7. It has been observed that other countries including but not limited to North America have been offered $100 compensation.
The recall is compulsory, in that Samsung is crippling the Note 7 via OTA software patches to the phone purchased by the customer and forcing the customer to return it. This will be the second incidence of recall and with it comes a great deal of inconvenience, loss of enjoyment, financial loss and overall stress. Samsung have offered absolutely zero compensation and this is wholly unacceptable.
To action this I would like you to either offer a cash compensation in line with other countries, or offer a heavily discounted alternative replacement phone that is as near equivalent to the Galaxy Note 7 (for example, the Galaxy S7 Edge).
I look forward to a response within 7 days of this correspondence.
Please reply to my resolver email account as I would like to keep all of my communications in my personalised complaints case file.
Yours faithfully
I urge all UK customers that have had to endure this fiasco to spend 5-10 minutes doing what I did to get something for all the trouble caused.
Why should we be the under dog?
The more of us that submit complaints the more impact it will have.
I intend to make the press and tech websites aware of our actions if we do not get an appropriate response from Samsung
.
Done.

The manufacture is responsible for your losses so I would go with Samsung.
The category is "other" as you are complaining about customer service not the product in this instance.

Done - borrowed most of your well-written note, and added some points about the particular messups around my original delivery etc.
Thanks for finding this site - it looks like a really useful way to pursue the issue. Hope something comes of it!
Very nicely done ..copy sent ..plus my other snotty email this morning
to add eve more insult to users in the UK who DID purchase.
those in India who only paid a deposit are getting treated better than us !!!
'For everyone who pre-booked the Note7 in India, the company is now offering the Galaxy S7 or the S7 edge instead. If you choose to go with either of these phones, you will be given a new Gear VR, Level U wireless stereo headset, and a $50 Oculus VR content voucher absolutely free. In addition to that you will also get one time screen replacement for free within 12 months of purchase.'
I don't know how likely this is, but is there at least a remote possibility that it's part of some broad, quiet effort to punish the UK over Brexit? If it is, it's definitely not right, but the thought has crossed my mind. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but there it is.
That said, good job on that, I hope you guys are successful in getting proper compensation!

No I really don't think that.
In the UK (and Europe) we have been the underdog well before BREXIT. Besides, we haven't actually left the EU yet! (Though it can't come soon enough - that's another topic elsewhere!)
Sadly, everyone blames everything on BREXIT - probably someone blames the weather we have had recently on it!
I been complaining hard on Twitter about the lack of consistency from facebook, Twitter and email.
Two started to get information, by email they started to complain about my abroad purchased of a dual SIM phone and how I have to discuss with them even though I was offered a single sim variant before 2nd recall.
I have posted this chat to get an actual response. Getting quite angry with the run around

The online shop are not the best team to contact regarding the customer service failure. It's online support.
If they fob you off with 'cut and paste' replies then it goes further up the chain.

I stood my ground and said while we stand here another potential customer will leave due to waiting in line (shop was busy . That soon surpassed the hurdle of accessories required rubbish. Then I was also refunded the £100 I paid upfront? No idea when I supposedly paid that shhh. Si now you ten days until beach to upgrade status happy days. The reason happy, is if noticed scratches staying to appear on the front left of screen. My two year old note 4 if still mint with no screen protection. So maybe something in the G5 screens??
The tried pushing inferior S7 edge as it's a safe phone and really the same! I said no thanks I'm due an upgrade not down grade and with outdated tech, at that.
Going short term sim only till S8+ arrives, hopefully sooner rather than later
The so called $100 allowance isn't really all that great a deal either. It is only for Samsung phones. Really, the only phone anybody will use it on is the s7. So Samsung is hoodwinking these folks...1. getting them off the complaint list 2. getting them locked into another 2 year agreement 3. Giving them 100 dollars bill credit for a phone that is about to be replaced, which is going to reduce any remaining inventory (great for Sammy) right before the release of the s8.
Go figure. Our situation isn't much better, and may be worse since the 100 dollars is acting as a incentive to make a poor choice.
EDIT: oh, and actually, the 100 dollar bill credit is in reality no benefit since contract phones are always inflated. You'll basically get the phone for $575 instead of $675. You could've had the same discount if the phone had been purchased via Amazon. They'll definitely keep the 100 dollar lower price point for the s7 once the new one rolls out. Nothing lost.
It is not just UK. The EU is a secondary market for Samsung. We all know that. Why - that I do not know.

I hear what you're saying. But I personally paid £740 direct to Samsung (around $900) so I had already been ripped off. I wanted it 3 days earlier so that rip off was actually quite a kick in the teeth for someone paying up front direct to their store.
So even $100 (£80) is a measly amount yes, but any amount is better than nothing. It would at least cover my loss for accessories.
If they can't give us £80 off the cost of the S7E then they don't care about customers.

I don't want money off another Samsung phone. I want the £80+ refunded for accessories. I contacted amazon who tol me to go direct to the sellers. The sellers told me to return stuff and pay postage myself - 2 addresses given were in the USA so the postage would be far higher than the cost.
I also want my time paid for. At least 5 long phone calls, many emails, 2 galaxy note7 set ups, 2 note 4 set ups and a note 2 (changing to and from my other half who was having my old phone).
I wanted to register for the promotion and receive a free wireless charger but so far, they haven't even enabled registration on their promo website.
https://www.samsung.com/au/note8-wirelesscharger-offer
None of the links to the registration form actually work. The site says to register when you receive your device (which I have) but doesn't say that the registration will open on a certain date. The promo ends tonight but I can't see why they'd have to wait until the promo ends before opening up registrations.
Can anyone else access the registration form?
It is live now. But the form seems broken. The address lookup field...doesn't look up anything. So the form stays incomplete. I have tried with different browers and devices with the outcome the same.

I had the same issue. Did not work on my Firefox or Chrome. For some reason it worked fine on my wife's PC (firefox), with the address field popping out.
However...... Prepare for a nightmare.
I just wasted over an hour fighting with the website with issues, and then having Vodafone telling me to call Samsung, and Samsung telling me to call Vodafone. What a mess. The biggest issue comes from the Proof of purchase number. There isn't one.
The Proof of purchase receipt that I have scanned does not show it and Vodafone support says that they don't have a Proof of purchase number to give me, with the final verdict being to "just type in your account number". Seriously.
Next on the list is if I use the field "Previous note 7 owner" then the web page will refuse to load to the next page. It's screwed. Vodafone instructed me to say that I did NOT own a note 7 even though I actually did own one ...through Vodafone themselves. Now my form has gone through with seeming "false" information and both Vodafone and Samsung are claiming "it might be okay". Currently I have zero faith in this clustertruck.

I logged into My Vodafone and found a form to request the Proof of Purchase document. They'll send it to me via email in the next couple of days. Be interesting to see if this mythical "Proof of Purchase number" is on this document. If not, I can see both Samsung and Vodafone finding themselves in legal hot water over what appears to be a promotion that is impossible to actually redeem. If they make this too difficult, I'll put in a complaint to the ACCC as this kind of thing is illegal.
Just registered for my wireless charger this afternoon, w00t! Hopefully these don't take forever to confirm and ship like the S7 Gear VR's did. lol..
Has anyone that registered for the promo received any confirmation from Samsung? I asked Vodafone for a Proof of Purchase but it didn't have all of the information Samsung is demanding. I used it for my registration anyway as Vodafone don't provide any documentation that complies with Samsung's demands. I'm waiting to see if they accept it anyway. If they don't, I'll lodge a complaint against Samsung and Vodafone (because they advertised the promotion on their site) with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). Samsung can't offer a promotion with conditions that are impossible to fulfil and Vodafone shouldn't advertise that promotion if they can't provide the required documents to enable a customer to participate. I'll drag both of them through the legal mud by their balls if I have to.
completed it 11 days ago and got an email saying they will respond in up to 15 days whether I got my "gift" or not.
That was a week ago...
I used my receipt number in the proof of purchase number but I paid through Paypal. Waiting to see how they will deal with that...
Going back and checking There is a reference number and a link to check how the redemption is going. Clicking the link sends me to a site asking for the reference number and my registered email. After entering the data I get a message here -
Mines approved. Waiting to be shipped.
Registered the day it went live, still status is registered
Also does anyone know why America and other country got more pre order gifts than us?
Other country had the choice of either a wireless charger, and a 128gbSD card or a VR camera and a SD card,.
Just wondering
Received this email today.
Dear Samsung Note8 Customer,
We hope you are enjoying your new Note8.
We would like to apologise for the delays in processing your claim for the Samsung Wireless Charger Promotion. The demand for the Wireless Charger has exceeded expectations and overwhelmed our promotions team.
Rest assured though, we have expanded the team and are working hard to get through the claims as quickly as possible. You will receive an email once your claim has been processed and also when your Wireless Charger has been shipped.
In the meantime, if you would like to check the status of your claim, please access the redemption website here.
Thank you for your patience.
Yours,
Samsung Promotions Team
Looks like I'm going to waiting forever.
Yep, got the same notice and a couple hours later got a notification that my purchase docs had been validated but now it would take (up to) 5 days to validate my IMEI... If the IMEI is deemed not valid they will let me know...
How nice, you have a wonderful new toy, the receipt is fine but the IMEI may not be valid... Awaiting Validation Limbo...
Seriously, WTF?!!!

yeah samsung dont seem to be as talented in organising things like this.
still waiting on the "Loyalty bonus" thing as well... very poorly communicated thing that we should be very pleased and excited about but now am just tired and angry about.
Well that was a drama and a half... Finally got the "Congratulations" email. Now it will only take up to a month to send out...
It's like the star wars saga, it just keeps going even after you think it is finished for good.....
Arrived a week ago... Not bad, but would've preferred the 256gb micro sd....
Registered Sept 22nd
Approved Oct 12th
Dispatched Oct 27th
Received Oct 31st
Email notifications are slower than the actual progress.. I received the "dispatch" email on the same day I received it.

by not saying you had a note 7 you may have missed out on the $250 note 7 loyalty promotion,i didn't have proof that i use to have 2 note 7s' on contract,i got telstra to print out my contract details,Samsung sent back an email saying, as you are also eligible for a bonus $250 Samsung online promotion code, we have transferred your claim to the 'Galaxy Note7 Loyalty Reward Offer' website.,which made me have to wait longer, everything now has been verified and i was told to wait up to 30 business days,as from today i have a week to go.i sent them an email saying the note 9 will be out by the time i get my charger.
