A good stock rom, that has the bloatware removed..... - Motorola Photon 4G

Is there a good stock rom all cleaned off without all the bloatware? I want to flash one to my phone without having to rsd lite it and redo the unlocking etc. I just want to flash a stock rom that he can activate easily. Thanks=)
Or will putting the 2.3.4-4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_7-CM rom only unroot and not re-lock and remove the recovery? I assumed it would remove all that or there would be one to just flash with clockwork.

skinny complete v1 seems like what I want. There is a rev0 and rev1, and a rev2 that isn't clickable but it's right below "skinny complete v1" so maybe that's what I click on for rev2? Sorry, prob a dumb question
The links didn't seem to work but the torrent for rev1 is working so I get that one. I says I need to be on 198-7. I was, then I put CM7.2, so I'm on 198-6. I'll need to read about updating to 198-7 before flashing. I'm thinking it is saying I need to flash back to stock then redo everything unlock, clockworkmod, then flash skinnyrev1...

Also, just to make sure, can one activate the phone with a skinny rom since it is like stock? Or is that too customized and the phone won't activate unless it is fully stock?

I ran skinny for a while. You don't need to reactivate.

Thanks KTT16, but if it not activated can one activate the phone with the skinny rom? Or does it need to be put completely stock to be able to activate?

It should do the ota registration once you flash skinny..

I got a pm back from Joker and he said to wipe and flash. I did and it worked perfectly. It's great. I love that you can up to 7 lil icons in the bottom that stay fixed there. It's a quick rom and I like the morphing it does. The main thing I wanted to know was since it is a stockish rom can I give my friend the phone and he can activate it or do I need to flash it to a completely stock rom? I think I'm ok, but if you happen to know for sure.

Look at getting the MSL for the phone since it would make manual activation easy..
Either get it from sprint or use the extraction method found in the forums..

I did, it is super smooth and fast. I was going to give my phone to a friend and wanted to make sure he can just activate it without needing to do much. I played around with some themes too. I loved the power widget in CM7.2. ScottieRotten said I can get the MSL and install it so maybe I could have left CM7.2 on it.

[Q] Using the unlock, backup, lock, and restore method. Works good but no wifi

So I have tried Alien and Joker ROMs and tried using the procedure of keeping 4G by the whole backup and restore procedures. Every time with either ROM wifi is fine under unlocked, but after the lock and restore wifi just shows error on the network connections screen. But 4G is working Any ideas?
TIA.
Blond moment: would a custom kernel stick with this process?

Hmmmm. It could be because skinny rom has a 1.3 kernel and when you flash back for 4g its hittin that roadblock of the stock kernel is needed... i would say if thats not it try these options clear cache dalvak cache wipe flash skinnyv1, make sure it boots up and has wifi and relock try again.... double check on that kernel thought though and let us know

I have cleared and even formatted all partitions still the same issue. Wifi works all the way up to restoring the locked bootloader and restoring the rom. Then 4G works but no wifi.
I am downloading skinny now and will try this today and report.
Thanks.

It should as Alien rom was used in the orginal procedure to retain 4G with Alien ROM.
Ok so you got skinny1 to boot with 4G and have his 1.3 kernel working(it is included with skinny)? If thats correct could you enlighten me with the process you took. I miss 4G but I'm a battery freak and like UV and OC but sure miss 4g. Thanks

Yes, but the problem is that wifi is broke it just shows error in the settings menu.
You can use the Guide below provided be Lokifish Marz, just replace Alien ROM with Skinny or any other ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227867
I thought 4G and Wifi should work with this, but so far only 4G is working. Wifi just shows error. If you get both to work, let me know what you did. I guess if you have really good 4G every where you go you may not need wifi. I do.
One more thing, after many attempts and playing with different and order of things, I find it more stable and less buggy if you do a factory restore and format system, data, and cache just for good measure. After the like 5 attempt wierd things like the stock boot up animation being retained after flash new ROMs. wiping, and formatting before installing new ROMs fixed this problem.

Ok, Skinnyrev1 is installed. wifi works and 3G but of course no 4G cause unlocked. Going to relock with stock image install, root, and restore skinnyrev1 backup into the locked bootloader and test. I will let you know soon.
So skinnyRev1 didnt work either, after going back to stock and locking the bootloader again, then restoring the skinnyrev1 rom wifi doesnt work anymore. 4G is working with skinny rev1 but again as with the other ROMs no wifi. I will try a few other things. Anyone else got any other ideas?

Kernel is 1.3 OC part of the Skinnyrev1.
After you go through the procedure I linked earlier in the thread, your wifi my stop working just do this.
1. Put phone in airplane mode
2. Reboot
3. Turn on wifi and connect to your network
4. Download bloat freezer from the market
5. Freeze SprintOmaDm
6. Turn off airplane mode so your cell radios are turned back on
7. Test and Done

Dont Know What Has Happen

Ok so i restored my stock backup because i needed to do a fresh install of unnamed. now when i turn the phone off it comes right back on and when i try to go into recovery it just continues booting up. what have i done and what do i need to do?
Even with phone on you can press and hold power and both volume up and down. Keep holding it and it will boot you into recovery.

The problem is fixed but now i face a new dilemma. When i go to turn the phone off it comes right back on. Even with a hard shut down. Also happens when i pull the battery and put it back in. It will turn on again by it self. I am on unnamed 1.3.1 with the blue monkey theme. Any ideas?

Ok I'm honestly baffled here. My battery life has been terrible. Here's what has been done recently. two days ago I restored my stock back up and flashed unnamed 1.3.1. Noticed my battery was dying very quickly. So I went into cwm. Wiped data, cache and davik cache and reflashed unnamed 1.3.1. My battery is dying no exaggeration about 10% every 40-50 minutes. In addition to all this...my phone wont stay turned off. It turns it self on after about 2 seconds. Ugh please help me.

Use Entropy512's return/unbrick to stock package. Or I have an Odin3 OneClick Downloader of his package is you prefer. It's a little easier. See the link in my signature.
There is no such thing as a backup of 100% stock. To make a working nandroid backup, you need to already have a custom kernel installed.

Thank you so much. I will check it out when I get home. So after I do that I'll still be rooted? Or do I need to root again before I flash a rom again? I promise im almost out of noob questions.
And I might try getting a new battery to fix the other problem. I'd hate to have to send my phone in for warranty

The only difference between the two packages is one will give you root while the other will not. If you go with the one with root you will be 100% stock aside from root. I only recommend going 100% because then you'll know it won't be any rogue apps draining the battery or issues from a custom rom. If you get the expected battery life stock rom has then you'll know the battery is good. If it's lower than what is usually is for stock rom most at&t stores will replace the battery on the spot for you.
So no benefit of going with the package without root unless you're taking it back to at&t.

[Q] Broken wifi after new roms

Hello all!
Long time reader here.
I've been looking for answers to this for several hours now and haven't been able to find anything that works.
I bought my Photon new about 2 months ago. Immediatly I rooted and unlocked it, with the thought that I was going to play around with custom ROMs as I did on my Epic 4g.
Anyway, this evening I decided to go ahead and put a new ROM on. I did the usuals, delvak, formats, etc.. I started with Joker's Skinny rev1. Install went great, but I was unable to use wifi. I couldnt even turn it on. It just says "Error" on the wifi settings menu. So I did some research and I found out that this is a common problem and simply needed a dhd.ko file to be replaced. So I did via 7zip and reflashed. Still no wifi. I then tried to give ACS's ROM a try, and same thing. So again, I replaced the dhd.ko file and reflashed. Still no glory. I also went ahead and re-unlocked the bootloader again just in case(read a few issues of that messing with wifi).
So needless to say, I can't figure out how to get my wifi back. I'm at a complete loss. Does anyone have any ideas? Also, if it matters, I live state-side. I don't have anything frozen either. Just a freshly installed ACS ROM.
Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

The radios are sensitive. The wifi driver must be compiled to the kernel you are using. In skinny unlocked it is. Skinny complete is the newest and has an awesome web top modification. Uncompressed its 2 gigs.

Im not entirely sure. I know that users of MOFs 2.3.5ish rom are unable to hit the server appropriately and that is as close to stock as possible (ie, no custom kernel, no unlock) except for being rooted. Then again, MOF could have made other changes im not aware of that could possible break the ability. I would say, if you are stock and rooted, try it. If that doesnt work, we know you must be completely stock.

That's where you have to be careful. Sometimes updates will download and want to automatically install.
There are a few threads here explaining how to download and extract the updates. I've never gone that far myself.

Does it matter that i am still on 2.3.4 because i don't want to update the firmware and lose the ability to unlock the bootloader if i please.
