On Android for over 2 years, but this is new. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I've had 4 android phones now, and both the Dell Streak and Galaxy Note on GB. But I don't recall ever seeing this "ghostbusters" symbol in my call log before. Anyone know what it means?

Its a rejected call symbol.

Thanks for that info.
I've rejected calls before with the on-screen deal, and haven't gotten that symbol before. Of course, I'm not sure I've done it on the Note before... But is that how you get the rejected call symbol?

Yes, this is likely something Samsung did.

Yeah buddy!

i believe its when someone calls you, and you dont answer. Not necessarily the same as choosing reject

The someone called and not answered is the two arrows... one red, one white.

Just duplicated it again and it is the reject button.

Sums it up there.
Sadly it's only phone numbers, not usernames.

Good find. Hopefully this will work with the new ffc mod.

basically theres no registration required, you just need to have their phone number and it goes through like a regular call

Sounds like it would be much better that way!
Anyway- I tried it out. works great. I tried it with my girls mytouch slide, a friends iPhone 4, and my supervisors HTC. I'm not trying to be funny lol i really did try it with all these people.
EDIT: I forgot to mention crappy experience- no front facing camera. But worked great anyway.

HELP! Keep getting phone calls from myself.

I keep getting phone calls from my own number. When I answer the phone nothing. I also occasionally get anonymous texts with no text or any other content. I am running trigger 2.6. Just curious if anyone has had similar problems or could offer any insight. Thank you
WTF?
Just ODIN back and start over... that sounds way crazy and not related to the rom. You may just have a bad app though.
Lol, ghost of the vibrant rom!!! Whooooo
You just got punked by someone using Bluff My Call .
hmm.. there's apps that fakes numbers..

Talk to your doctor and tell him the medication isn't working anymore and you need a stronger prescription.
The real question is:
if you called yourself, would you answer?!?!?!?
No, the REAL question is where can I get ME some of that!?!?!
LOL this is so funny

sms not reading out names or text

Hi all.
First off a great site here. I am new to android (well not strictly true I did have the Desire when it very first came out and I hated it sold it after a week) Any way I am now converted to Android from Iphone. So I am a complete and utter noob
I have got the the S2 and what a phone, never miss a phone call or antenna problems on this puppy.
So my problem is when I get a text msg it only reads out the number of the person and does not read the actual txt. When I get phone calls it tells me who is ringing. This is a problem for me as I want this for when I am driving. Please help.
I have not rooted my phone yet as I said I am a complete noob. Does not look as easy as jailbreak.
Thank you very much. Look forward to your response and no doubt I'll get told off for reposting but I have looked now for 3 days
This phone can do this? I would like to know how to set this up.. I would love for the phone to tell me who is calling...please tell me how to do this...I am new to the Droid as well...came from BB...

Double press/tap HOME key to bring ON Voice Talk.
Turn ON Driving Mode.
Hit the MENU button --> Settings -->Scroll down --> Voice Talk Settings --> "TICK" Show body of message.
I suppose that should solve your problem
(It sometimes takes a while to read out the message depending on your connection..so plz be a lil patient Cheers)
Not really the same thing. There should be a way in android to have it announce who is calling or just texted you without leaving in driving mode constantly. Symbian used to have this, but I don't believe Android does.

I just use Tasker for this, though some would balk at spending on an app worth 5 dollars for a phone worth a hundred times that =)

Unknown Icon in Status Bar

Hi, all.
I have run into something today with my AT&T Note that I haven't seen before. Quite a bit of searching found me this thread: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30229221
The icon I'm seeing is exactly as described in that thread, but the fix for the Galaxy S III is not applicable to the Note.
AT&T, ICS 4.0.4 official, not rooted or modded in any way. No new applications installed today.
Does anyone have any insight?
For those that don't want to read the other thread (I wish you would though): The left-most position of the status bar now has an icon that resembles a solid square with a dash in it. The left edge is "pulled out" to the left forming a sort of arrow point of the left edge. It's white in color (maybe light gray?).
Pulling the status bar down to see the notifications shows nothing associated with that icon (it isn't in the list). If anyone at least knows what the phone is trying to tell me, that would be a start...
Some running app?
I should have posted that there are no active applications on the device, the icon doesn't match that of any installed application, and I don't see any running processes that aren't really for the "system" itself. On the Galaxy S III, the icon apparently is an indication that notifications are turned off. What does that *mean*? Is there a corresponding "state" on the Note?
I'm getting beeps and chimes and icons in the status bar for things like email and text messages... So, it wouldn't SEEM to be that.

Perhaps a screenshot so we could see what exactly you're describing? As I have no clue from your description.
It may have something to do with a downloaded app. Did you try to click on it?

This is why I asked folks to read the other post...
It is NOT clickable. It's a white square with the left edge "pulled" out to a point. There's a dash in the middle. If you look at the AT&T user manual, you will see the EXACT SQUARE I am describing, but it has a PLUS inside. That square is a "too many notifications to show" icon. This is slightly different.
Is it there when you have other notifications? It could mean you have none

I read the post and made no sense to me why you'd have that issue on the Note, hence me asking for a screenshot. Perhaps you need to check out AirPush Detector or Airblocker to see if maybe something is accessing permissions unseen. Just a thought.

Here's a slight update...
I rebooted the phone and it hasn't come back since in this form. I *have* seen the "there are more notifications than can be displayed right now" icon (white square, pointed left edge, plus sign in the middle) a few times. But this one (exact same except minus sign instead of plus) has not come back.

I actually tried them first... They have no clue and didn't even offer up the fact that there is an almost identical one indicating too many notifications. Then, when I asked for information to contact Samsung, they said they would text me the phone number (I asked them to). The rep was nice enough to text me my own phone number.

I've had many experiences with att customer support, they suck. Call Back and try a different person and maybe say you have a couple other issues as well, white lies never hurt anyone. Lol

[Q] Red Exclaimation mark

Hello everyone,
I came here cause I know you guys are really helpful, and I need some help. When ever I call my wife's phone (she has a rezound running 4.0.3 also) her phone doesn't ring. Instead it goes right to her voicemail. Then on her call log there is a red exclamation mark next to my name. But other people call her and her phone rings like normal and there is no exclamation mark. I really hoping someone can help me. Thanks

make sure you are not on the block list on her phone by accident. this will make you go straight to voicemail every time.
