i been seeing a lot of post that the closes phone to port roms to the amaze is from the vivid, even i seen where the vivid got a ics update and some people says that good for the amaze.
my question is why the vivid? where i see the vivid and the amaze got nothing in common on specks,
and if its the vivid why not other htc phones!
just wondering

i think you misunderstood, since the vivid is a phone thats not very popular, it getting ICS from HTC means that we could get ICS soon from HTC as well, as for porting Roms, i havnt seen anyone talking about that but it will be easier to port roms from phones like the sensation, thats from the same carrier

the only thing the amaze adds from the vivid is screen bleed, dedicated camera buttons, smaller screen, nfc. those are the only differences I think.
to your question. the update is not only pushed by htc, its also pushed by carriers. so even if htc is ready to release it (im sure they are) that doesn't mean tmo or att is. they all add their stupid bloatware and test it then push it out and what not
edit: tmo is more secretive than att about updates. so we could be just as close or not too far from them. you never know, I wouldn't assume anything

but i seen some older post were people are talking about it, that it is the closes phone to the amaze to port roms,
like i dont know about about porting roms or dev them, i just decided to asked this question

oh yeah, the carrier have to push the update,
ok so is there away like, when i got my g2x, you could either update the phone to gb with lg updates on pc or the ota,
htc sync would do that right?

Better than I expected.
Via My HTC Evo 3D On The Now Network From Sprint.
Still looks horrible. =[
I think it looks terrible...nothing like ICS.
I'm Batman..
How is it "extremely underwhelming" ? Did you really expect a Sense-free release?! What were you expecting to get?
We are getting a major API revision and the long awaited HW acceleration.
This is far from underwhelming.
Its time for HTC to make sense OPTIONAL. Half of us switch to AOSP roms anyways. Looks like junk compared to stock ICS though.
Meh, boring, much rather prefer vanilla. On the plus side I guess it will help EVO 3D development.
It doesn't look much different from ginger bread with sense.
Guess whats getting ported today
I don't see the issue. It's updated, It's how HTC makes it, if It's not pretty, we theme it. If you don't like sense, then why comment? Obviously you're going to run cm9 or some other form of aosp.

"Sense based ICS ROM." It wont be the real deal until HTC releases it themselves in my opinion. Also, just leave it alone Joelz.

It is not too hard to build an ASOP if we have a working rom
So how did they get this? j/w b/c this is the first pure leak ive seen for us since Sinper's site was shut down long long ago. EDIT: I guess Capy has a source inside HTC to an extent!! Wish we could get an EVO3D leaker to come out lol.
Also to the Sense 3.5 on it is a little confusing b/c it looks nothing like either of the other sense 3.5 phone builds out, the high power one nor the low end device one.
I agree it likely/HOPEFULLY is saying sense3.5 on it b/c they are not fully done with it yet.
Keep the Thread Clean Guy's or you will force me to lock it
So with the port I'm gonna say that 4g won't work?

ya but they have the advantage of being more dev friendly!!! I'm very surprised given the history of HTC, they were basically making phones before any of these guys showed up. and yet there are always problems with their dev community...and make it much harder for the developers to work! I still don't think my brother has gingerbread!
makes me miss my sensation even more,,
I got the ICS update for my WiFi Motorola Xoom middle of last week. The OTA came out about 2 weeks after posts about its testing by a smaller group started popping-up on XDA.
However there are a few big differences here:
1) The Xoom was already on Honeycomb which is a lot closer to ICS than Gingerbread. Hopefully the Galaxy Nexus has developers already working on ICS compatibility. When I first got my Honeycomb tablet a year ago lots of applications had major problems on the new OS.
2) The Xoom is a Google Experience device so no manufacturer overlay to add complexity to the testing.
3) The WiFi Xooms are not tied to a wireless carrier.
My guess is these things are going to increase the test time. Hopefully not by too much. My first guess is a month - really depends on the quality of the early releases.
I thought I read somewhere that the update will be coming in February. But once it's out, and HTC is nice enough to release the stock rom, then we will start seeing stock ics roms with everything working.
HTC will always put Sense on all their roms.
Pretty sure ICS for the Amaze will have Sense, which isn't that bad. I think there are some decent widgets for Sense 3.6.
I hope with sense they won't force us to have that google search bar at the top of our screens
I have noticed that the HTC sensation is really similar to the HTC amaze. I mean you can swap batteries or whatever i think. Would Roms for the Sensation work on the Amaze?
I'm interested in this as well.
I just bought this phone as an upgrade from my T-Mobile G2/Desire Z and am SO disappointed in the lack of development going on! I know HTC hasn't exactly made it easy, but the DZ forum is hopping! I miss it.
How hard would it be to port some of the Sensation ROMs over to the Amaze? I'd like to learn how to if anyone wants to help me ...
I just realized this is in the wrong area Mod Please move to Amaze General if you can.
The battery will swap out. Thats about it.

most of the hardware is completely different, so while a lot of things may be able to be borrowed from a Sena ROM, the things that matter most would be completely different.

So if we just swap out the hw drivers that are in the Sensation ROMs to match the Amaze hw stuff .. obviously its not that simple I know .. theoretically it would work, correct?
Would it be possible to run a Sensation 4G rom on the Amaze 4G? They carry very similar specifications, I personally wouldn't want to try flashing a rom from that phone to mine because of possible issues or a brick but my question carries on. Can anyone help?

No you can't completely different phones, hardware, kernel, etc. you can never flash a rom from one phone to another every phone is different. The rom has to be ported first meaning modified and changed so it can work with another phone...despite what many think the sensation and amaze are very very different phones...the HTC vivid is the closest you will get to the amaze. even then roms have to be individually made or ported for each phone.

Seriously though, seansk is right. Even the ports don't work properly because they are so different. Everyone that keeps thinking that the Sensation and the Amaze are the same or even similar are only fooling themselves. They are totally different.

Is there any other phone like the amaze at all where the devs May be able to be drawn over to port...? Sorry if is a dumb question. I like the devs we have, just not much variety since no s=off or ics code

I'm sorry, I know it was a really dumb question, I'm coming from a Sensation 4G which had quite a lot of development. I'm not a developer myself and was just wondering.
i am coming from a sensation 4g, and trust me thats what i miss about that phone its that it have over 40 roms, the reason is that the sensation is a world wide cell phone and it carries s-off witch is not difficult to make a rom for all sensations,
now i have a g2x too, even thought the that g2x and the optimus 2x looks the same, actually are very different, the devs from the g2x could not ever ported a optimus 2x rom on the g2x, because of that and no kernels drivers. So the g2x never had a custom rom with lg ui on it,

Which is pretty much the same situation as the Amaze.
We can't make custom kernels even though we have the source (lack of wifi drivers). Lack of s-off so we can't flash those kernels by recovery. It's not a worldwide phone either. Plus a lot of people that have the Sensation are still on a contract agreement so they are less likely to upgrade. I'm sure the next HTC Sense UI device that comes out will have a lot more developers because of that fact alone. We should perhaps warn them that HTC is starting to screw their customers though.

I have no idea but I'm more than likely going back to Samsung after this one.
To you guys who are saying you miss the development for the sensation: There is about a 5 month date between the sensation and amaze.. in other words the sensation has been cooked on for 5 more months than the amaze thats a long time for development if you think about it.. just be patient guys, we just got a stable version of sense 3.5 and we already have a ICS build.. its not stable but that doesnt mean it wont ever be.
I'm just waiting for that ICS leak/port. Then the development will boom, it happened to the Sensation 4G during Christmas time. It was a very exciting time!

Well they can do what Viper did and create a small thread with links then lock it

these forums are dead because of 2 reasons:

yup...I think a lot of people didn't see the M9 as a real upgrade to the M8 and only for those who didn't jump from M7 to M8 combined with the horrible press about the overheating (I've yet to experience) and camera (love the camera updates for what I use it for) and whining about it not being 4k (seriously, who needs that on a phone?) means it's not been a very popular device.
Screw 'em...I think it's a huge upgrade from the M7, especially the camera (even in it's original iteration).
Many thanks to @OMJ @benny3 and @chas123 for supporting this device.

This maybe true but another thing to point out is that this phone is so complete that there is hardly anything left to mod or add. I'm mean the only thing left for you to add to the phone is to add the 5.1 update to your ROM. Other then that your ROM is so complete its been on REV 24 for over a month with nothing else to add or tweak. Of course there is the point you already made that this phone being so close to the M8 that your ROM was already matured through the M8 days.

This is especially true when it comes to theming. You pretty much can theme it the way you want very easy. Im not a big themer or theme design, this latest Android 5.1 is very difficult to theme. Since its still new quite a bunch of apks are not compiling correctly and im not that skilled yet or have the time lately to figure out why, LOL. Other then the Viper Theming threads not much Theming has been going on throughout all HTC M9 versions.
You are better running badboyz for sprint, our firmware is extremely sensitive and with so many international versions using their base, our lte issues arrise of we aren't using a rom that supports our phone properly.

Traded my flex2 for a HTC One m9, rooted it, unlocked it, and then I installed badboyz the very first day. Love it. I'm so used to having cm/aosp on all my devices and I customize the crap out of them but I have to say that I have hardly seen any lag or performance issues on this phone. The phone gets pretty warm when doing heavy tasks like playing a game and what not but I don't find it any different then other devices doing the same tasks.
Either way, I love the m9. It's a well built solid device. I jumped at the chance to trade haha. Their loss

I will say this is probably the least active forum I have seen out of all the HTC's I have own which is every flagship for Sprint since the evo 4G (even going back to TP1 & TP2). That being said, OMJ's badboyz is awesome I have been using it since I got the phone. There is also no red text hboot and custom splash screens just like my M8 had. I like this phone, while really not much different from my M8 besides the camera it's not as big of fail as people make it out to be. I'm hoping the M10 is a nice refresh and hopefully HTC is done with trying camera gimmicks. I would like to see higher resolution screen next year & wireless charging.

The majority goes on in the overall m9 forum and not sprint as I guess devs don't want to check multiple forums.

I really don't see where development is lacking. As many have said there are quite a few roms in the main m9 forum that offer sprint support. If you look at the cm development device tree sprint support is added. What's missing?
LeeDroid, and Insertcoin drains horrible.......... lol any suggestion?
