I loaded Scott's CleanROM 4.0 and everything worked great except my phone stays on 3g and never switches to 4g. I installed LTE onoff and made sure it was set to CDMA and LTE. Also checked mobile network settings to use CDMA/LTE but it always stays on 3g.
I was able to get 4g with the stock ICS leak.
Has anybody else seen this? I've tried wiping and re-installing cleanroms through amon ra. Should be renaming Scott's file to PH98IMG.zip instead and let fastboot detect it?
Did you check your power setting to make sure it power mode is set to High Performance... Menu > Settings > Power Mode
it doesn't look like i have that option. I was about to flash the stock leak back on but when I restarted back into cleanroms, 4g was working again. Its weird, I had rebooted several times last night and it always went back to 3g. Maybe it was verizon working on their network.
I'll try looking for the power settings. All I see under Menu -> Power ... is battery use and an option for fastboot which I turned off
Thanks for the suggestion. I'd like to find where that setting is anyway.

It might be a glitch they missed.

I doubt its a glitch....with how hot/cold VZWs 4G network has been they're probably having issues in your area.

Ever since Verizon network went down a few days ago I can't get a solid connection whenever I download anything. Browser seems to load fine. I try downloading several apps from the market but cannot complete the download due to lost connectioime. It will just stop at any time during The download. Same with files. I dont think is the rom. I'm on cm7 pre-release. Flash back to Tesla but still have the issue. Is anyone else have this issue?

You go into the phone dialer and input *#*#4636#*#*, choose phone information. LTE mode for only 4G, CDMA auto (PRL) for only 3G. You can change it back to normal by using CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto.
I've been having the same exact problem.

Just installed the latest radio and is still having the same issue. I hope is the network then since you're having the same problem too.
I have das bamf remix 1.5 on my phone and I've been having very slow downloads lately when it says I have a full signal.... Tried both modes as mentioned above and problem persists. Can't even load a whole you tube vid. WTF
New radio problems
I had similair issues, and I went back to stock 605.6 radio and a simple debloat rom and it fixed my issues, I am also set to CDMA(PRL) as I'm in a 3G only area
on the new radio my 3G connection was unstable and my GPS wouldn't lock
all of this only occurred after the verizon network went down and came back up.
before that I was having my problem with the new radio. I'm waiting on 605.6 until Verizon officially updates the radio, because I think they changed something that is currently only working with the old radio, the only one they have to support at this time, just my conjecture of course, but I've tried it a few times going between an old radio/old rom and new radio/new rom and it's consistant
Having the same issues. Tried all the radios, but downloading from the market place still goes at a snails place. Like everyone else this started after the lte network went down and came back up.

Alright, I just got off the phone with them and they fixed my problem in less then 5 minutes. The problem was caused when the network went down, and when it came back up, some of the thunderbolts would not connect correctly causing the connection issues. When I called customer service the woman brought a tech guy on the phone and he had me take the battery out of the phone WHILE IT WAS POWERED UP and then take the SIM card out and he did some kind of "network reset" to my SIM card and now all the issues are gone. Worth giving them a call and seeing if this fixes your problem. IMO VZW has the best customer service hands down, they are always so helpful and will make conversation with you during the luls while on the phone (IE when your phone is booting up).

Interesting. I'll give Verizon a call. Thanks.
So my HTC EVO 4G LTE has been treating me very nicely.. great battery life and CM10 is smooth as ever.. the kernel I have is great and I get a 2.0 GHz overclock without problems. The weirdest issue has been haunting me lately. On CyanogenMod 10, I am unable to use the 4G LTE service that is located on a tower about 150 feet away from me at this moment. The issue is that while the phone connects to the service and I can call and text, for some reason data never works. I get 4 bars that I could only get from this tower, and looking in the phone information section of *#*#4636#*#*, I see that the tower shows up as LTE. Now it used to be that on Sense, I could turn on airplane mode, wait about a minute, and then connect to 4G LTE.. but now not even airplane mode can get me connected to it. There should be no reason that the phone can't connect to the tower because the signal, when connected, is very very strong. Does anyone know of any potential fixes for this issue? It's been haunting me that I'm located here in Dallas with a 4G LTE phone on Sprint next to a known working 4G LTE tower and people around me with Samsung Galaxy S3s and other 4G LTE phones are connected but I can't. Thanks for your help in advance.
By the way, I did search the forums and surprisingly no one has an issue similar to this in any of the topics that I checked.
Bump.

I installed the new radio from the OTA onto my phone and I thought it'd fix the problems but the problem was only temporarily fixed when I reflashed CM10. 4G LTE worked for a few hours.. but then after I went into a building, the signal dropped to 1 bar, turned on 3g, and call quality became utter crap.
I would post in deck's thread but I'm not sure the issue is specific to CM10.. I used a sense rom and for the first few hours of use it worked great and I would get strong LTE signal.. but after that I seemed to again be able to connect to the tower that's transmitting 4G LTE and in the network settings it would show up as LTE, but no data connection could be established.

Yes, I did full wipes between roms including factory reset and system wipes. Only my SD cards are left unwiped.
I called sprint support today inquiring about that but the guy just had me go into ##72786# and reset my network connection settings.. didn't help the problem.. Any name to that update that I can ask them for that'll help me get it?

They should have recognized it if it was an error. So calling sprint won't do much. There's an app called network in google play store. Has the option to switch to different bands, or a lot more than any stock program will let u switch to.
Try switching from CDMA auto to Evdo/LTE or the other LTE options and roaming bands they have on there and see if it helps. Hopefully someone with a fix will see this thread soon enough. Only other thing I can think of is the ##4636# (digits may be wrong)and switch some settings in there.

Nothing of the sort fixes the issue.. I'm gonna try reflashing radios.
I'm on 1.15, S-On, HTCDev unlocked, CM10.I have the same issues.
When i reflash the kernel, LTE will work for several hours, and then I get the gray bars of doom. Oddly, I still get a data connection with some apps (Reddit Is Fun, etc.), even though the phone shows no data. It's been so frustrating that I've considered going back to sense...

Yeah that's exactly what happens to me.. and no matter my attempts to airplane mode the phone refuses to connect to 4G LTE data after a few days of reflashing.. So odd.
Just clean flashed deck's most recent build from IRC (9/19?) and I'm having the same problem as before. This time it didn't even make it an hour before LTE went away.
And after searching around, apparently we're the only people in the entire world experiencing this issue.

I.E. His statement still stands because we would still be the only people in the world having this problem..
I am honestly stumped as to how to fix this.. Sprint support can't help and I sat in the irc and people would tell me to force lte mode in network settings.. Doesn't work.. Because even though I get data connection.. I then lose the ability to call and text.
I tried paranoid, cm10, and aokp. I couldn't get lte on any of them. And phone calls were at max volume, distorting the speaker even, no matter where the actual volume indicator is.
Went back to a sense based rom and no problems.

I'm having the same Issue. Seems to have started with a Rev of CM10 around the beginning of September. I have been running a Sense ROM for the past few weeks, but I check in every so often to see if deck's made an update. Nothing has worked so far. Anyone have an update or solution to this problem?

I am having the exact same issue as you with the "Greg bars of death". I had good consistent 4g at one point in early September (possible unofficial 9/6 build based on saved speed tests) but not since then. I have also found that having LTE off gives me more reliable 3G data.

Join the club... it's the typical LTE connection issue with the EVO LTE. Its not your phone or updates. Even a 100% stock EVO LTE with all the updates has this issue.
I scanned this forum before creating this post and I'm pretty sure there isn't one already out there but please don't flame me if there is. I couldn't find any and I spent a good 30 minutes last night, trying to find something like this.
I purchased a used HTC Rezound recently but was unable to get 4G LTE to stay ON. I surfed various forums for a possible fix but couldn't find anything that I hadn't already tried.
This morning, I think I might have found a work-around. Here's what I did.
After activating the line and being able to get sporadic 4G LTE signal on the device, I went into the wifi settings on a hunch that maybe some unexplicable interaction was happening between wifi and the 4G radio. Wifi kept wanting to turn itself on and I kept fighting it by turning it off.
I located my home network and clicked 'forget network'. Once I did that, I went back to make sure wifi was OFF and that Mobile (data) was ON and WHAMMO!! Immediately, the 4G LTE indicator popped back on and I've been rocking 4G for about 2 hours now, without a single blip. I've watched an entire episode of 24 on Netflix in an area of my house where I've confirmed that I have a weak signal and still, no problems at all.
So my Question is this: Is there any other way to disable wifi without having to 'forget' the network when I want to use wifi? (Other than what might seem obvious by turning wifi OFF when I know that doesn't get rid of the 4G dropouts).
It's really only an inconvenience at this stage. All I'd have to do to connect is re-enter the password and since I don't use wifi when I'm at home because I have Unlimited Data, it's not really a big deal but it just seems that the OS on this phone was purposely designed in a way to take people OFF the 4G network when their phone is 'familiar' with a wifi system they're near.
======================== UPDATE ====================
There is no issue with the phone. The issue was an activation issue and I was able to eliminate the problem by trial and error. It turns out, the way I was able to get the device to connect had to do with re-seating the SIM. Once I did, the phone has been flawless in connectivity to both 4G LTE and wifi regardless of the combination of wifi settings. I hope this is useful to anyone reading the thread.
Is your Rezound stock or custom?
LTE will disable when WiFi is activated, most LTE phone does this by design. I have experienced where my Rezound's WiFi would want to turn on automatically on the clean rom, re-flashed and everything was good.
I personally never had issues with my Rezound. If fact, the Rezound has one of the best radios to date. The fact that HTC integrated the antenna into the battery case housing is what makes it a strong contender for receiving radio waves..

Go in advanced settings wifi settings (menu advanced settings)and disable the automatically turn on wifi setting. (Not exactly sure what its called as I hate sense and I'm not running it) but ull see it in advanced settings and then when u want to actually use wifi just enable wifi.

Well, I'm on stock ICS but rooted with S-OFF. The wifi, even when OFF kept wanting to turn ON by itself when I wanted it to stay on 4G. The only way I could get the phone to stay on 4G was to 'forget' my home network.
All is well now. Weird huh?
Sent from my rooted HTC Rezound with S-OFF using ICS on Verizon's periodically blazing fast and mostly reliable network
The Rezound has a poor shield on the 4g radio chip which causes interference in music. So, logically if stuff can get out, then wifi can come in and mess it up.
Dude read what I said and it will never automatically turn on again.
That's the reason it kept automatically turning it on. And if u haven't done what I said then regardless of you thinking its fixed it WILL turn on again by itself.

There's no such setting that I can find within the settings and I know which setting you're referring to. I saw it before on my Thunderbolt but for the life of me, I can't find it on the Rezound's menus. Anywhere. I looked several times. I'm pretty sure it's there. I just can't find it so the only way I could get the 4G to stay on and not have wifi automatically connect was to 'forget' the wifi network.

So I have a rooted phone and I was running Mean Rom for a while. I then tried out CM10 from Cyanogen's website. It worked for a while, until I noticed one day it went to 1x in a restaurant we went to. After we left, it never came out of that data mode. When I went to work that night, I just got bars with no data icon (3g or 4g).
I tried rebooting the phone and that didn't work, so I figured I should switch the rom, maybe it's the rom. So I installed Mean Bean (latest), but no results. I formatted the phone three times and I still can't get connecting. THe only way I can connect is switching the data mode to CDMA only. If it's on CDMA/LTE, it doesn't connect. It can't be the service, because my friend has an iPhone 5 from sprint, and he can connect to LTE just fine.
I try to update the PRL and profile, but it seems to fail every time. When I go home, it connects to 3G, but when i come to work, I can't get connected at all.
I can really use some help here please.
Thank you!

Thank you all for your advice. I went home where I knew the service does work, and I updated the account profile first and then the PRL. It told me that it updated the PRL successfully. Good start. Then I went to work, and saw that I still have 3G using the automatic settings (which didn't work last time) and the PRL updated successfully again. Next thing you know it, I have full working 4G again.
Something in the CM10 changed my phone, not sure what it was, but it had me logging into the wrong towers I bet. Not sure. NOt talking ill about CM10, it's a great OS.

This isn't in the right section, but the first things to check would be if the data connection settings are correct. I don't have an Evo in front of me, but check in Settings / More... and there should be some stuff there to make sure that CDMA/LTE is enabled or if you just want 3g, do CDMA/EVDO (I'd switch between the 2 to see if it makes any difference). Seems like this is not a totally uncommon issue with these phones. Some people just had issues with the towers updating (even though your other phones work ok, every phone is different and use different radios so not exactly apples to apples), sometimes it was just needing reset (either via factory data or ##72786# which will reset network stuff and redo the Hands Free Activation and update the PRL). That's usually the other thing to check : Make sure the Profile and PRL updates are done. Unfortunately, some users report doing all of that and still never resolving. Good luck!

In the dialer, press *#*#4636#*#*, and choose Phone information, and choose any network type you want, turn the radio off and on again. This may help. Good luck. :victory:
