[Q] Multiple random restarts - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I have gotten 4 random restarts today, within 2 hours.. I haven't done anything heavy work on it, just watching some clips on the TED app, and random surfing. Is this a glitch in the current version of the rom, or is it something else?

Welcome to the party lol
I don't get reboots, but my screen loves to freak out on .15; .11 was the last one that did me right.

After uptade to *13: 15reboots per day. *15 - 2-6reboots per day. Now i have returned my prime. Give me back my money...! Asus didint make stable ICS on prime and tf101...fc stock browser etc.

My C2 Prime started having the dreaded random reboots, it has had 2 yesterday and 1 today (so far). I hope the rumored "new update .19?" fixes it. Otherwise this is the 2nd Prime I've sent back.

I noticed more of these this past weekend. I think either 3 or 4 instances. The interface would hang (Adobe Acrobat, Dice Player), and then after a period of unresponsiveness, the entire tablet would just reboot...

Mine does it for dice if i turn off the screen while its on.
My other tfp crashed all the time but this one (This is my second tfp) only crashes on dice so far.)

I get very poor performance. It will freeze constantly, not respond then come back and act well for a bit then go back to bad performance again until it restarts itself as if it is saying **** this I can't do it

I think random reboots are an official feature . I was getting 2-4 per day after I installed .15. Websites with flash usually were the culprits. The tablet was getting very laggy in general too. I ended up unlocking the bootloader and installing Virtuous. The performance has been night and day and I honestly cannot recall the last reboot. I think that Asus just put so much crap in their rom that it has been causing all these problems. It needed a dev to trim all the useless stuff away. It was certainly worth voiding my warranty to get back the performance.

have you tried a factory reset? I had such problems before I did a factory reset after the ics upgrade. Since then everything is fine, no performance problems. Before I had constant freezes with flash and crashes of random apps.

Mine has been running perfect since i bought it.. never froze or reboot from honeycomb all the way to .15. Wifi is great and gps works and locks. I have my phone for navigation because i think it would be silly to stand up a 10inch tablet in my car for navigating around lol.

Calling Verizon about these issues.

Has anyone tried calling Verizon about these issues? If so, what did they do about it?
They shouldn't be giving out the same phone, when the problem isn't hardware, it's software, and all the phones they send out will have the same software which won't make any difference.

..........what issues
The slowness, the crashing, etc.
I'm on #6 from Verizon's "certified like new" replacement program. I've told them every time it is defective hardware that the device is shipped with and there's no way they can physically "repair" it. They say that they cannot do anything about it but ship me another "certified like new" replacement phone of the same model.

i have never had my phone crash on me or random reboot.
slowness is relative, for the most part the supercharger script fixed the issues I had, but yes we need 2.3 to fully take advantage of both cores
Device1: Issues with 3g and wifi
Device2: Hardware screen problems
Device3: Would no activate, randomly shut off while trying to activate. Activated via website, couldn't make calls.
Device4: Receives multiple SMS messages and a pixel is out on the screen (after 1 week use)
Device5: Same problem as device 3.
Awaiting device 6. I haven't had the best of luck with the DroidX2. I'm really wanting to take advantage of the dual core greatness when GB finally hits, but I'm very very tempted to switch over to an Inc2.
Opinions?

you could switch but then you will just find problems with the inc2...not trying to be a smartass its just how it is unfortunatly
only device i was ever 100% happy with was my N1 and NS...everything else made me wanna bash my head into the wall
Am I the only one who hasn't had any real problems yet? I did only get it 2 weeks ago, but so far the worse that has happened was 1 random reboot which seemed to resend an old text to my friend. Since then though no issues. Especially since rooting it.
I tried calling them and they said if I have the problem again, they will do their best to get me into a different device, although this phone was a replacement for my Fascinate so I'm highly doubtful they will do much about it.

This is a pretty crappy phone out of the box. It took the v6 script to make it bearable. Would be nice if Motorola did it out of the box. I felt like I was using my old G1 for a while instead of a dual core phone.
Out of the box I had so many problems it wasn't even funny. I had reboots, crashes, force quits like mad... all of it related to motoblur (I'm almost certain of that). Before the full hour of ownership passed, I had finalized my research, rooted, scripted, froze, and replaced every component I could safely. Since then I haven't seen any problems. My battery lasts for about three days and barely even gets down to 60%. Three weeks into ownership, not one hiccup since the zero hour.
So, before I did anything with the phone... it sucked out of the box... and it always will until Motorola pulls their head out of their asses.

I got my Droid X2 the day it came out, and have had zero problems with it that were unbearable. Occasionally it does reboot randomly, but it's like whatever, it does it once a week maybe. The battery is incredible, I can last a fully day if I do nothing but play heavy games and/or other heavy usage. I haven't had any force close issues, and it sure as hell isn't slow.
I don't understand all these posts saying it's slow and crappy...

I also have to say you are lucky! I got it online day one and was having an amazing amount of reboots and really just plain horrible performance. I was begging for my HTC Hero200 with CM7 till I rooted the phone got launcher pro & put on the V6 script. Since then things have been slightly better than the Hero but I was expecting so much more!
Rooted and supercharged here. I have zero problems. I LOVE MY DX2!!!

Verizon doesn't care... why? Cuz they already have our money... so its technically our own fault because we keep giving Motorola another chance and keep buying these phones.... and why bash the dinc2 ? It already has s-off so they are running custom roms as we speak. I will never buy another motorola product espicially after what they just pulled with the Droid 3.

Reboot-bad battery issues for some-suspect bad update/app to be the cause

Hello guys
Being a long time member, and having rooted many of my devices before (Xoom, HTC Sensation etc) I have seen complaints like people are posting where some here are experiencing no battery/rebooting issues(like me) while others are experiencing the opposite. The first thing that any experienced developer here on XDA would tell you is that something went wrong when updating to the new .13 update, which is why some are experiencing problems, while others are not. It does not make sense that a good majority of us, have no issues...if the new .13 update was bad/faulty, then it would affect all of us, not just some. I would highly recommend that people with issues reformat/start from scratch, as this has helped others with similar issues. If this does not help, then unfortunately you just experience a bad update, which of course the only fix would be is to try to reinstall the update (easy to do if rooted) or wait for a new update from Asus.
Also, if your battery is dying quickly, check to see if it is warm to the touch even if you are not using it. If so, then this would definitely point to an app trying to do something in the background without your knowledge..maybe there is an app trying to sync but your wifi is off, or an app that you installed that does not play nice with ICS. I would suggest that those with problems can list their installed apps, and those without issues can see if they have any of the apps on their devices...this can help narrow the issue down and hopefully find the culprit.
Thanx

All fair points, but many people suspect that there are at least two batches of Primes floating around with different hardware. After all, even before this update, there were groups of people that had freezes and reboots and others who had none.
Another telling point is that as far as I can tell, .13 update completely fixed Primes that were previously having sleep of death and reboot problems, and caused sleep of death, reboot and battery problems only on Primes that were previously working fine. This also suggests two different hardware sets to me (e.g., they tested the .13 update only/mostly on the set of Primes that had previous problems).
the bad update/ flash/ application as a culprit to all the Primes problems went out the window long ago this is all horse**** the problem is with the tegra3 in some way and different hardware variances in X Prime vs B Prime vs Z Prime etc....etc...etc...

But that doesn't make sense either, because I had no rebooting issues before and no battery issues after updating to .13.
What we need here is hard data evidence from something such as a battery/hardware/resource monitor, which I have not seen from anyone with battery issues.
I don't have the issue so there is really nothing for me to monitor and gather data from.
Just had this issue pop up. Was using my Prime this morning on the charger, closed the screen (have the dock) pulled the plug put it in my bag for the day. Went to class, and then to work pulled it out at 6pm to check out a new note taking app and found my Prime to be HOT, like I left in in the car on a sunny day hot. Opened it up and it wouldn't come to life, held the on/off till it "shut off" then powered it back on. Battery life is 80% prime 14% dock. As requested my apps are as follows.

If your TFP is hot it could be an indication that the processor is running something and causing heat.
Try an app like SystemPanel to monitor resource usage. You may have to get the paid version in order to track app resource usage history
https://market.android.com/details?id=nextapp.systempanel
Here is another good website to find other apps to monitor usage and find out what exactly is using your battery.
http://android.appstorm.net/roundup...nitor-usage-stats-and-tweak-system-utilities/
Have people experiencing the issues gotten the OTA or did they do the update via file where you system partition is formatted? Wonder if some file(s) didn't get updated properly via OTA but work fine via .zip update.

That's actually a pretty good question! Along with posting a list of apps...thinking a widget is trying to sync constantly?? Also, have you guys checked your app intervals...too many apps syncing at a low interval will kill your battery
I couldn't do the OTA, so I had to do the wipe and full install from .zip

Although I didn't suffer from issues here ln battery, after hearing about it, I went in and changed all intervals and cut off anything unnecessary. I especially made sure to raise email interval. As that's the thing that goes off the most. When it does it also causes the audio to go off constantly. So far I've been getting even better battery life than before in deep sleep. Actually very impressed how lil energy is used while in deep sleep. Before o took my screenshot and used tablet, it was in deep sleep for over 7-8hrs. And didn't budge from 100%. That's pretty impressive.

Yes! My wifi signal strength matches my Moto Xoom, I haven't had one reboot..GPS is weak but I honestly didn't buy the tab for that (Ipad users don't have it, but who cares its not a navigation device) . My 1080p movie playback is flawless, colors are rich. This is truly a sexy, powerful beast of a tablet! I'm sure that we all can agree on that...I'm sure that Asus will work out the kinks that some are having soon.
Everywhere I go, even Ipad owners love the way this Tablet looks, especially the screen display

What's up guy, still spreading those chrome rumors??
Yeah, I'm wondering if people have their update intervals low an the system is constantly trying to update apps in the background?? This would explain the warm/hot backs of the Primes by the batteries for some
The battery, sleep of death and random reboot IT IS CAUSE BY THE NEW OTA .13
i have factory restore 3 times no app install, same problem
i have push the OTA .13 MANUALLY TWICE same problem without installing app.
there's no way to get around this, only a new firmware fix or backflash to .11 only solution for us having problem with this new .13

Why are any users experiencing the range of issues this tablet is presenting while others are not? We have 3-5 major bugs that are sporadically scattered across a wide range of serial numbers. I believe its downright obvious that TFPs have a variation in hardware quality and/or quality control issues. It's fracking embarrassing. To say that only some people are having this battery issue just continues to follow the trend that has been ASUS the past 3 months.

Im guessing the reason for most of these problems is going from HC to ICS without a full wipe.
I have flashed thousands of roms on my devices since Windows Mobile 6.1 and when portion of people have issues they are told to check md5 sums and full wipe.
A little from column a and a little from column b perhaps.

I had no sleep of death problem until the update, and it's ridiculous how fast it's burning through battery now.

review of .28 update

Gentlemen and ladies,
I am opening this thread for constructive feedback of the TFP in real world use after the .28 update. Please stay on topic, HELPFUL and RESPECTFUL. By having an open an honest forum, we can help drive development and troubleshooting. Please be thoughtful and give it some time so you get a good sense of the changes.
My review will be here sometime this week and I will update regularly.
First two hours:
General feeling is that it's is considerably faster and smoother. Swype actually functions like it should with no lag, which is huge for me. Wifi signal is stronger, went to the opposite side of the house which is through a brick wall , a refrigerator, and another wall, about 30 feet in total. Used to get 1 bar, now a solid 2, total signal loss of 36% on wifi analytics app. I did get two ANRs on Facebook using dolphin, got it on stock browser too. had this scenario twice so far: 2ANRoD, two ANR of death, on stock browser with flash heavy objects, I'll get two popups and wait doesn't fix it and browser crashed. Still Pleased so far. More to come.
After first full day (6/14/2012):
The happiness with the update is starting to fade a bit as some old problems remain. I cold rebooted to see if there was any improvement, (not really)
Browsing: I have been experiencing a few ANRs messages consistently, they are way less than .21, but a few time an hour. I have noticed that google news website no longer produces the ANR on dolphin, where previously it did. Some sites that are flash work great, others not so much. FB webpage creates the ANR message everytime. I do continue to get some hangs or web pages that do not load completely, but generally the experience is faster loading. Stock browser continues to perform better than Dolphin, so I have to switch back and forth a bit which is annoying. .28 is still a step in the right direction by clearly not up to par. From Gary's post, I look forward to the next update to clear this up.
Productivity: opening pdf files is noticeably faster but still EXTREMELY slow by comparison to my sgsII. (For example, my sgsII opens a 3mb pdf of 180 pages in less than a second, whereas the TFP takes at least 10 seconds or longer to load a 3mb file of 10 pages.) I find this to be unacceptable as I bought the TFP specifically for work related tasks. using swype is still better, some glitchiness but far less.
WiFi: still better than .21 consistently in my home. Signal has been noticeably improved. I am definitely pleased there.
UI: Definitely there is a sense of more smoothness and snappiness most of the time. The TFP is pretty tempermental at times with increased lag, slow downs, or out and out unresponsiveness for 10s or greater. Sometimes its perfectly fine with no rhyme or reason. Definitely an annoyance when this occurs.
Battery life: I haven't notice a huge difference yet, but my use patterns are typically 2-3hrs so i don't stress the battery too much, i do have a vacation coming up so we'll see then. I do notice on the that when the dock is plugged in, it transfers battery to the tablet sooner. A few weeks ago i had a class for 9 hours, i noticed the tab would discharge to almost 50% before the dock kicked in. Now, the dock kicks in right away. after about 30 minutes i'm down to 80%, as it charged the tab about 15% then seemed to stop charging it for a while. looking at the battery meter i notice that it made a small sine wave, kicks in a little, then lets the tab discharge a bit. cool. ps- can i request a better battery graph? maybe some numbers and xy lines?
24 hour impression: This update is a step in the right direction as there are some improvements, but those improvements by an large are hard to quantify, other than the WiFi. I believe that the website loading is better most of the time. I am definitely disappointed by the ANRs and processing; my belief is that there should be improved processing over my sgsII dual core. I'll say this now because it came to mind over the last 24 hours: though less than .21, erratic performance and continued problems nearly 7 months out from release, with an update that took a long time to come out makes me suspicious of larger issues. I believe that there are solutions, and .28 shows that things can be better, I begin to wonder how much of a time investment will make in the tf201 over the long run to get it to where it should be. Over the weekend I am going to be using the dock and probably playing more games, so I will round out my review at the five day mark.
Wifi/BT on the new firmware I am actually seeing an improvement now. I used to get about 1-2mb when using my headphones out of 20M. Now I'm seeing about 3-5.. so they messed with something good thankfully. It seems Netflix doesn't buffer for me as long as I'm getting 1-2mb down so I'll take anything better than it was
Browser was not an issue with ANR for me before but seems fine as well after the update I set my plugins to ondemand in Advanced settings. No wait messages yet
give it time to settle in though. people can't say update is really bad and haven't even ran it for more than an hour yet..lol just saying.
constructive criticism always good. ill vote.
for me, running this update over 2 weeks now, its been running great. battery life improved alot. wifi performance better(for me). no browser ANR or crash in 2 weeks. most graphic heavy games playable now without crashing. overall faster feeling device. no random reboots. I like this build way better than. 21..lmfao
No ANR messages so far (although I've only had the update for a half an hour or so). On 0.21 I would get the wait popup on a regular basis while using the stock browser and other apps such as Engadget. Things seem snappier overall but I think that may be primarily due to the absence of the ANR popup.
Its actually a little weird now, I got so used to reaching towards the screen to cancel the ANR popup and now I don't have to do that at all, I can just keep my hands on the keyboard/trackpad.
Wifi Direct seems to work, lets me connect to my Nexus now, but after its connected though not sure what I can do with it. I looked in File Manager for it but not sure where it would be
Super happy thus far......

Troll much? I mean seriously this is your first post.
Been using the update for about 2 hours. Had one ANR while setting up face unlock, but since then it has been phenomenal. All games play now, couldn't play shadowgun, riptide or dead space before. Web browsing is incredibly smooth. Haven't done wifi tests yet, but I can tell that it has improved. Very happy with the update.
Face unlock is stupid....
Suprisingly wifi has improved for me too.
I tested right before the ota on a fresh boot and right after in the same spot
Averages Before (On a 18mbit up/down connection):
Download: 2mbps
Upload: 3mbps
After:
Download: 5mbps
Upload: 7mbps
I am VERY happy with this ota.
Download went well, but I could tell that there was major upgrade in firmware just when putting in my password. WiFi is much better, website pop open. The web moves faster then on mine laptop. I like it! Please do make sure to reboot or do a soft reboot before running with it, you will notice the difference.

Really glad you signed up, for that single post!
I just want to say that it's nice to see that Asus, in spite of the fact that they've since released the TF300 and will soon be releasing the Prime Infinity, are still working to improve the Transformer Prime, and haven't given up on it!
I, for one, appreciate their efforts!
My Prime has been very stable before the update, and I've had no complaints about wifi. I don't really use GPS on my Prime, using my car's GPS and my Thunderbolt much more often.
The one issue I have is the task manager will on occasion give me a "Task Manager has Quit" message, or something to that effect. Hopefully, that'll be resolved, but again, it only happens maybe once every three, four days.
I do like the face unlock feature, and the ability to show stats after locking the status bar at the bottom is a nice touch, if slightly unnecessary. My battery life has never been a problem, as I generally have over 40% in the evening, even after heavy use. I always charge it when I go to sleep.
I do hope that this update solves issues that I realize other people have been having.

yeah, Asus task manager has been buggy since the beginning. it looks like they trying to improve it though. or at least its looks..lol
Installed update, rebooted after the first boot, as mentioned a couple of times. Restored root with Rootkeeper. Had 2 ANR in the space of one minute while trying to load www.hotnews.ro (the desktop version). Chrome doesn't seem to do ANRs, although it also froze for 1-2 seconds a couple of times (and is also definitely more sluggish than the stock browser during page load).
Doing stuff during market updates is much less irritating now, seems to move better overall.
Will keep testing.

I just tried that site you mentioned. it loaded up fine for me with no problem. no ANR. cool looking news site. too bad I don't understand that language
Can we keep root with OTA root keeper?
Yes we can. Just restored root about two minutes ago.

I am seeing alot of ANRs with the facebook app. Specifically, it occurs more often and responses slower the further down I scroll; until it reaches a point where the app will no longer respond even after waiting a while. G+ on the other hand seems to be smoother.
I have gotten 1 ANR with chrome, but after waiting it started responding again.

wifi is better. Over all feel smoother. Tried stock browser still has ANR so I will still use Opera Mobile.
face unlock is neat...now i need to remember my pattern now in case face not working

[POLL] - I/O Performance improvement/Random Reboot since JB update

Hi there,
It's been a long time since I posted anything on these forums. We all know that the TFP has several issues, starting from random reboots all the way up to poor I/O performance, WiFi (for some) and no GPS. Alright.
But among them all, on a day-to-day basis, 2-3 issues are really all that matter and they are - (1) I/O Performance, (2) random reboots (bigger deal than I/O) and (3) a lesser known issue, which I faced on Stock ROMs primarily, some screen glitches that happen at very high brightness and with a white background.
For now I want your feedback on 1 and 2. So far, I faced no random reboots but I did notice quite sluggish performance upon restoring apps from Titanium Backup. Also while downloading big apps or files from Appstore/browser, there seems to be a little sluggishness at some point. however I can't tell if it is better than before. Benchmarks also seem to suggest no big improvement in I/O performance.
So, please respond to the poll and if you wish leave comments explaining your opinion as well. Please keep things civil and let this not boil down to a ASUS bash festival! lol  Personally, I am very happy overall with the update. I just feel it can be better, especially as Infinity pad got that I/O fix a while back (if I remember correctly).
Cheers, y'all!
Better I/O Performance, No random reboots.
Right now, it feels as if the I/O performance is as good as it can get, software wise. We must not forget that the NAND chip inside is of a questionable quality, a quality that makes me wonder if Asus imported from Chinese hoax-phones manufacturers.
The problem si hardware. Jelly is bether but the emmc is the same.

I hadn't had random reboots in a long long time. With JB it's happening fairly often; seems to be when the screen turns off.
On ICS I had the screen set to only turn off when I turned it off, i.e. it would never sleep automatically. That could be why I didn't have the issue.
I've now set JB the same way so I'll see if it still reboots randomly.

Are you using the dock with an SD card? There's a known issue related to it (the tf300 had it as well).
we should petition asus to change our internal hardware a long time ago.. but jb sorted out many issues from software side anyway. Check development section for i/o data2sd thread.. makes prime a lot more stable and faster!
Tapatalked!
Sadly after updating mine two days ago ive had nothing but problems from programs force closing to the power button not working all the time.
would almost believe that it's a hardware issue except it started literally right after the update. Can't even run Bad Piggies but for a few minutes before it starts to studder and then finally lock up.
Even my browser locks up now which before the update had only happened twice....thought this was supposed to be a update but instead i got a downgrade lol. Hope they work this out.
Do a factory reset after JB Update. There could be bugs ported to JB. My camera was disabled after JB update. Did a Factory reset, works much better.
I did mine and my Prime is now much faster. Strongly recommend.

There was a card in the dock so that could have been the issue; thanks for the heads-up. Since I disabled sleeping I've not had a reboot.
I used to get frequent random reboots and pauses whenever I had a microSD inserted. My solution was to format it to NTFS. FAT and FAT32 were also ok but NTFS allows for bigger files. I think it was the default Ext4 format that caused the issue; can't remember for sure.
I mention it in case someone wants to try an NTFS-formatted SD card; it might avoid the problem while we wait for Asus to fix it.
I've had the Prime since December, and use it just about every day.
The JB update for me is just like all the other past updates. It's awesome at first, then I get ANR's. I even did the factory reset and after 2 days, the ANR's made their come back. My 2.5 year old Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S) outperforms the Prime at browsing.

Would this issue be related to having a USB mouse plugged in to the dock and getting random reboots? I have a wireless Logitech mouse that I use when my prime is in the dock and since the JB update it always seems to reboot within a few minutes of having the mouse transmitter plugged in. I haven't see it reboot without the mouse transmitter plugged in while using the dock so I suspect that is the culprit. I tried a different wireless mouse (also Logitech) and I had the same results. I did not notice this issue with ICS.
Otherwise the JB update has been pretty solid. I did do a factor reset right after JB rollout because of some other glitches that were happening. I also haven't seen the screen tearing issue which was happening daily with the last ICS firmware.

Apparently this happened to the TF300, too. If you have something plugged into the dock - SD card and/or USB device - and the screen goes to sleep, on wakeup the thing is likely to reboot. One can hope ASUS plans an update to fix this...
JB made it a little better but its still laggy and I still get ANRs but not as much as before. Having an Sd card in the dock also causes random reboots. I've done a factory reset and I'm no longer rooted and was never unlocked. As soon as I see a better tablet out this ones gonna have to go. Its been almost a year and so many updates. I really dont think any software will ever make this tablet any better...at least mine in particular.

I have only started to have random reboots since going to JB. It's good to know this could be caused by having an SD card in the dock. I really hope removing my SD card resolves the reboots. Other than this, I am very happy with the JB update and my prime is running better.

It is great to know that a vast majority of you guys seem to have experienced fewer issues with JB than on ICS. I too have noticed that my tablet is working way better on JB, and there may be imperfections here and there, but that is the hardware's limitations. I am glad that the whole experience is soo much smoother especially in the areas I use it the most.
I look forward to kick ass ROMs with the latest Kernel. But though I am unlocked, I don't mind the stock ROM. It is good.. :good:

Hi there,
since I updated my TF201 (TF Prime) to JB I have random reboots while using the USB mouse. I didn't try this before but when using another device via the USB port in the dock I immediately experience reboots. If I don't use the USB port it works like a charm, way smoother than ICS. But the ability to use devices via USB was an important reason to choose the TF201. Please ASUS / Android, fix this. I'm wondering if the other unfortunates among us have similar behaviour of their TF201 or other ASUS tablets.
USB devices work great for me, I use both the dock port and the adaptor to plug USB devices into the tablet itself. I did do a complete factory reset though, before and after installing JB.

Android 4.2.2, did Google finally get it right?

This latest release has me really pleased with my Nexus 10's speed, response, and stability. It appears they got it right for the use of my tablet. :victory: It will be very interesting to see what the priorities and advantages will be going forward with custom ROM and kernel development!

do you know for which countries is the 4.2.2 update available? i did not receive any update (Bucharest/Romania). Thanks
They finally fixed the time bug that caused mine to constantly be behind 10 minutes.
My experience is a little mixed. I play a lot of MC4 without any stutters or lag prior to 4.2.2. But now I am getting constant stutters during multiplayer game play. I found myself going back to 4.2.1 to be able to play my MC4. That was the only issue that I encountered while on 4.2.2.

Since upgrading to 4.2.2, I have not had chrome freeze or the n10 reboot. That's wonderful!!!
I have Battery Monitor Widget Pro running with an alarm set if the battery hits 95d f. Since 4.2.2 I had the alarm go off while charging with the pogo cable and running daydream 'colors' (first time trying daydreams) and again when a 30 minute youtube video playing through hdmi (no charger). The temp went up in less than 5 minutes after the video/animation started. Felt extremely hot around the camera. Never had that happen before, only time the temp went up was after 30 minutes of a graphical game play.
Battery temp is usually around 82, almost never above 90f and certainly not in 5-10 minutes. Gonna keep an eye on it, but it is a new problem for me and related to the video.
After update to 4.2.2 my bettary is bad. :'( on Android 4.2.1 I usually get about 7-8 hours screen on, but on 4.2.2 I get 5-6 hour screen on. But with 4.2.2 my Nexus 10 more fast and smooth

This is a hardware related issue!

I'm glad 4.2.2 has fixed many of the soft reboot/crashes and things like that but I still feel that the nexus 10 isn't as snappy as it should be. I feel there's still residual lag during transitions and alot of apps don't run well (I think that's more hardware optimization though). The nexus 10 menu's feel a bit slow.
IMO the nexus 4 on stock feels much smoother.
Battery life appears fine and no more random lockups or reboots since the upgrade several days ago....Very happy now!
Thanks for 4.2.2 update. I no longer face hang/auto restart.
Reboots and crashes are gone it seems. Chrome would crash every time I opened it, now it is rock solid. I would also have random reboots at least twice a day. 0 since the update. Bootlog Uptime says 4 days 4 hours.
I still have issues with Wi-Fi though. My University has multiple AP's with the same SSID, and my N10 has issues finding and staying connected to the strongest signal. It will stay connected for maybe 5 minutes, then the Wi-Fi looks like it resets or something. I tried a logcat dump and nothing notable shows anything.

Problem with XBMC is the interface is still sluggish and is a burden to work with. Especially if you setup a samba share and let it import your PC's music and movie collection. XBMC is just way too bloaty for a tablet and is currently the #1 contender in the "How to drain your battery the fastest" department.
Video playback
Hi,
I have flashed the 4.2.2 stock rom and there are some issues, which are not fixed, and some which seem to be new.
- I had one freeze when the tablet was on standby. Only a reboot fixed it and my battery level was about 10% lower as before. Ok, this might be an app, which is misbehaving, I'll monitor it.
- Then I had the first time this time bug, where the time shown is some minutes off sync.
- The worst thing is, that 4.2.2. seems to have broken the video playback in some apps. Playback is stuttering and some frames are dropped. For example in the watchever app, which worked fine in 4.2.1
Google Movies does not seem to be affected.
Anyone else noticing the video playback issue?
Regards,
Goldstein

My brother had the same issue on his Galaxy Tab some time ago... He was running some Cyanogen alpha though and flashing to a newer version resolved the issue. You could investigate whether a fresh flash resolves your issues...
OnTopic: Did not notice much improvement in 4.2.2 (CM10.1) as the device was running without any problems and there was not really something to improve... However benchmarks scores did go up - Antutu went up from ~13500 to ~16500 and Quadrant from 4800 to 4950.
