Hi
Hoping someone can shed some light on this as I have exhausted my IT dept at work. We have Exchange 2010 at work that I use with activsync on my Xperia S but it will only allow me to sync email up to a month old. I do not have the 'all' option. There are other people who use android at work and its fine for them, we all have the same email profile that allows us to sync our full mailbox.
Does anyone know if this is device specific or anything I can try?
Cheers
Stuart
Hi sboardman, this is not device specific.
I've verified with an HTC phone (Desire Z) and my Xperia arc S, both has 1 month limit.

Hi..
I'm sure that I've tried every possible search for this and found nothing yet:
I need to change the HTC Sense email tab/app so that it points to 'Outlook email' without settng up an account!
There are 5 or 6 HD2's that I'm responsible for configuring (a mix of energy roms [Sept 20] and stock roms) and we use Novell Groupwise mobile server, which uses Nokia Intellisync.
On the device, you install the Intellisync client which collects all the email/contact/calendar info and shoves it into the respective application on the device.
Now this works fine with the calendar and contacts apps - you open them and all the info is there, but when you look at the Sense Email tab, it shows that there are 8 (for example) new/unread emails but when you open the tab, the sense interface says: "No Mail Account --- Tap to add a mail account" .
However, the email is there, and it's partially seeing that, as it displays the notification on the mail tab. And if you go into windows messaging, or slide across from the text tab, you can get to the outlook mail easily.
So of course my question is: How do I change this?
Thanks for looking, and for your help..
Fred
Anyone have any ideas at all to sort this out?
I cannot be the first person to have come accross this surely?
Could anyone point in the right direction in the registry? I was looking through it this morning, but couldn't find a reference to the email account location..
Please share if you have any ideas at all..
Anyone? Please help if you can, I really need this fixing!
Thanks..
Same issue...
I am having the same issue here...Anyone got a solution for this?
Thanks!
Paul
Can I persuade any of the very talented developers here on XDA devs to look into this please?
I don't know if it's a big or small problem, except the symptoms are a big problem to me!
Please, please... would someone help us? This is important...
I forgot to add, this is also an issue on the other WM6 devices I look after - this morning it's an XDA Ignito (HTC Diamond 300) with a newly flashed Energy ROM.
It's needed even more on this device than the others due to the tiny resistive screen..
After switching from SGS to SGS2 I'm experiencing problems with my work mail. We use Zimbra as an Exchange alternative.
The problem is, all incoming mail is shown with full headers and source. HTML-mail is shown as source as well. In addition, special characters seem to be messed up. IMAP from the same server works correctly.
I've had the problem confirmed by a friend on his SGS2.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is anyone out there using the SGS2 with an Exchange server? If it works correctly for you, maybe it's something with Zimbra and the email-app version on the SGS2. Would it be possible to replace the new version with the one from the original SGS?
Edit: Maybe I should also mention that I sync contacts and calendar from the server, or I would just have switched to IMAP and waited for Samsung to fix the app.
Same thing here...
Hi,
I have exactly the same issue with SGS2 syncing with Zimbra 7.1.1.
Works well with email app non modified by Samsung on Nexus S.
Zimbra support guys said it is not their issue and marked the bug as WONTFIX:
Thank you for the information and the research. I have raised the following bug report which has been marked as WONTFIX as it is not a zimbra specific issue:
Zimbra Bug ID 60480
However there may be some updates posted there from time to time so it may be worth adding yourself to the CC list of the bug.
It is difficult to submit the bug to Samsung as they say "we do not offer support for ActiveSync problems - contact Microsoft"...
Same problem for me and all my collegue, and for different phone (GS2, HTC HERO with cyanogenmod, NEXUS S, etc). With HTC sense on my HERO it's OK. I think it's relate to Zimbra (or Exchange 2003 protocol?) Any info?
I forget, my workaround is Enhanced Email from the market (paid application).
Hi, there
New to this forum group, having just taken delivery of SGS2, with three.co.uk.
Prior to this I had an HTC HD2 with O2 UK, and made much use of the HD2 forum groups in modding that phone.
This forum group has been so active, I see a steep learning curve ahead. This is all to the good - it means folks are enthusiastic about this phone.
A major reason for me choosing the SGS2 was that Samsung Exchange client supports SMS sync with Exchange 2010 accounts.
This is vital for work, as I can send up to 1000 sms a month to clients and staff.
With SMS sync, I can keep a message history for past and current issues and projects.
My question is: should I stick to the standard Samsung ROM (it isn't "3" branded, as I got it through a reseller, and came unlocked) to keep SMS sync?
Or, can I give in to my inner geek and get modding?
There seem to be 2 main branches for mods - Samsung ROM based and "other" ROM based.
If I were to install a modded ROM would I preserve the functionality?
Or, could I reinstall the Samsung Exchange client if it wasn't present in a modded ROM?
Please excuse me if the answer is out there. I have done extensive reading and searching, but haven't found an answer yet.
If the answer to my question is "search some more, son, this has been answered already", please let me know politely.
I would suggest learning first which things do you need to be able to run SMS sync. If the only thing you need its Samsung Exchange Client, you can use any ROM you like and you can install Samsung Exchange Client app in there so you would be able to run SMS sync without problems.
If SMS sync requires certain kernel or more deeper system stuff, it would be harder to move to another ROM.
Hi, AzureusPT, and thanks for replying
I suspect it is just the Samsung Exchange client I need - it is the only one, other than WM6.1/6.5 that has the SMS sync feature enabled. Standard Android and other variants (HTC, etc.), Apple and Windows Phone 7/7.5 don't enable the necessary features.
I've tried Nitrodesk Touchdown (on a HTC Wildfire I set up for my Mom as a second phone) and it's implementation is spotty.
I guess you're right - I will have to bite the bullet and try out various options. It will be the only way to know for sure what is necessary. From your comment, I take it the Samsung email (Exchange) client is available as a separate download?
Also, I see you are using HyperDroid-Androidmeda - I was thinking of giving that a go as my first ROM rooting adventure. Is it a variant of the Samsung ROM?
I'd also be very interested about this.

Hi,
I am unable to view the detailed message and Date and time of a meeting request in the default Email app in my Sony Xperia P mobile. Even when i select the calender it does not defaultly go to the meeting date. I need to manually select the date to see the meeting. I cannot see the meeting details without accepting it.
I have seen the better behaviors on HTC One V and Galaxy Nexus where full meeting details including message, Date, time, venue appears in the meeting request message.
Is there any setting which needs to be changes or is it the limitation of the phone app.My company is using Outlook so i have configured Microsoft Exchange server using the default Email app and i am unable to see the meeting details.
I have attached the screenshot of the meeting request. Even selecting calender also does not go to the selected date and time.
Request you to provide the support.
Regards,
Pratik
I'm seeing the same with my xperia S, I've done some testing and it seems to depend on what version of outlook your using. The company I work for use Exchange 2010, if i get a meeting from a person using the outlook 2007 client i get the info in the body of the inviteg. but in outlook 2010 it doesn't put the details in the body of the invite so it doesn't display it on the phone.
Also it doesn't inform you of any meeting conflicts. I have reported this to Sony but i get the feeling this is as design for stock android app, the like of HTC and Samsung have tweaked it a bit, and sony haven't.

Thanks Mike for doing some research on the phone. I think Sony should do something for these problems as we customers preferred Sony over Samsung and Blackberry but this email feature is a kind of bottleneck for us.. As a senior member i do receive meeting requests every time and i need to see my availability which is really tough in this set.

Hi all, very stuck!
I have tried setting up my work exchange email on 7 different android handsets,
(Different models, makes and os versions (non rooted, all standard os))
on non of them does it ask to "update security settings" during setup, and as such the account does add but does not sync.
So your aware I’m actually one of the tech guys for the company and when I set all other staff accounts up (so far) on android it does ask for the update which I accept and it then works fine
i have no other phones attached to my account & only the one email address.
and every aspect of my account as far as I can see matches that of others whom it works fine for
Any advice on this would be great and very much appreciated
thanks in advance
