I had on the phone 059N169_1600.3013.8107.11502. Then I update to 059M5Z7_1600.3015.8107.12070. I did it by the recovery option in the NCS. This version hasn't my language and I tried to change to 059N3S9_1600.3014.8107.12050.
When my phone was rebooted, the computer detected it other than ever. I saw Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM and removable disk with question about formatting. I clicked cancel but NCS does not detect the phone. My computer couldn't install driver for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM.
I tried to do refurbish and recovery on 3 computers. I always got the same result.
Can anyone help me?
no solution

I have the same problem, and I guess our only hope is the official tango update from zune.
I think the official tango update from zune nothing will change. I think that the Zune also does not recognize the phone after the restart.

By formatting that disk you accidently removed the bootloader from your Lumia. See this thread for details: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587650, specifically THIS post.
I don't know if it possible to recover from this. You might want to try to perform a recovery flash instead of the more general refurbish one. Instructions can be found on this forum or by a quick google (here for example). Please note that as you have formatted the bootloader partition your phone might not even want to go to the recovery mode (most likely this requires a working bootloader), in that case your phone is bricked . Good luck.

If the recovery flashing method I linked in my previous post does not work I think your phone is in an unrecoverable state (bricked). It may be that some-one else here knows how to recover, but missing/corrupted bootloaders usually mean you have to use something like JTAG to recover. And that's a difficult proces which in most cases requires hardware modifications (soldering and such). Currently no such details for the lumia exist.
Of course Nokia can fix your phone but since you tried flashing the phone yourself that is gonna cost you some money i'm afraid.

as I read all threads about that magic storage mode , you need to get it in storage mode (seen as a drive) and then you can try to copy the stuff posted here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24607410&postcount=25 ) to the partitions found on your phone .
yes I know you have another phone but it is a try to get a bootloader on that phone again , after that you could try to flash a normal bootloader and rom for your phone.

IF it still boots to usb disk mode, you can recover. You need a dd dump from the 3rd partition of the phone, or from some other phone (lumia 710, don't try with 800 since partition layouts will be different) and dump it back. You should get your 3rd bootloader back. If you messed up the entire partition table OR you deleted the first partition... you made a pretty good mess.

boot into usb disk mode, dd dumped 3rd partition then dd it back, but when I plug phone into windows 8 there is still the format prompt.
Did u mean that I need dd dumped from a health 710?
At least Disk Mode is still working
Yes, you need a dump from a working phone. If you feel brave, you can try with the copy from my lumia 800: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?lllk9lx8972t63k
Windows will always tell you the partition needs to be formatted, but you HAVE to press cancel, otherwise youll break it again. Windows cant see into any of lumia's partitions, but with linux you can see the contents and modify them.
Try to dd the partition to the phone, then run 'sync' on the terminal, then unplug the phone, hold 10 seconds the power button to turn it off and try to turn it back on normally. If the rest of the partitions are fine, it should boot, with all your data intact...

Hello Lumia Users,
with the discovery of the Qualcomm mode we are finally able to unlock our devices as well. However the process of flashing involves always a certain risk: the risk of making the device unusable, the so called bricks. I created this thread to prevent huge amounts of posts discussing methods to revive bricked devices.
You use all the methods and techniques described in this thread at your own risk. We are not responsible for any damage or loss of waranty.
Before you post in this thread please gather some information first.
1. How dead is your phone:
Does it vibrate when you hold the on/off button?
If not: leave your phone on the originale charger (with the supplied cable) for 8 to 10 hours and try again.
Does it vibrate when you hold the volume-down+power+camer button?
Are you able to enter the Qualcomm mode?
2. Details about the flashing process
What operating system did you use to flash your phone?
If you are running Linux and you are able to enter Qualcomm mode connect your Lumia in Qualcomm mode. Create a list of the lumias partitions (fdisk -l) and include it in your post.
Do you remember the command you used to flash the phone?
Sometimes you can Access the previous commands on the command prompt by pressing the up-arrow on your keyboard
Do you remember the output of the dd command?
What ROM did you flash?
Did you perform a hardreset after flashing?
3. Additional info:
Do you have a Nokia Care Point or carrier store nearby?
Did you create dumps/backups of the partitions before flashing the ROM?
Have you ever used NCS or some other tools to flash firmware to the device?
How bricked is my phone?
It vibrates. Connects to MAC osx and Windows. Will not connect in Ubuntu. Able to enter qualcomm disk mode, doesn't show up in ubuntu. Might be able to reflash it in mac osx though, or restore the partition I screwed up from an IMG file of that partition.
I used ubuntu to flash it. I accidentally flashed the 3rd partition of it. The command I used was
dd if=/Home/David/os-new.nb of=/dev/sdB3
The output said something about copying over the .nb file correctly..
I used the full unlock rom by lucifier. Nothing wrong with me. My fault on the incorrect flashing.

The big question is: Are the other partitions intact? biktor_gj has uploaded some dumps over at the development thread. You could try to flash the sdX3 Partition in OSX. However I think it is strange that Ubuntu wont recognise the device. You can use the df command to get all connected devices on Ubuntu.

That is really weird. I see two realistic options here:
a) Download the sdb9.rar posted by biktor_gj and flash it as IMG file on OSX
or
b) Ask for a repair of the device.

Yea, Tmobile agreed to send me in a new lumia 710.
I tried the df command in mac osx in terminal and the phone didnt show up. So I guess my only option is to try to revive it with an IMG of the 3rd partition of the device within disk utility. Since I am getting a new device anyways, might as well try to do whatever I can to contribute.
Do you have a 710? Would you mind uploading an image file for the 3rd partition for me?

Some guys flashed their Qualcomm Lumia 800s with NCS wich resulted in an upgrade of their bootloader. According to you this is impossible with the unlocked phones so I guess you have to sent your device in for a repair.
The Images on NaviFirm sometimes contain IMGs of the partitions. You could also try your luck there.
1. My Phone does not vibrate. I charged it the whole night. I can't enter Qualcomm Mode.
2. I used Ubuntu 12.04 with dd if="FullUnlock-os-new.nb" of = "/def/sdd9". There was no output. I used the ROM provided here: ROM. Yes, I performed a Hardreset.
3. No, I don't think so. Yes, i created an image backup of every partition. I tried to recover my phone with the NCS. It did not find my Lumia.
My phone worked like a charme. Yesterday I installed Battery Status and started the Task Manager. My phone crashed, and after a restart it lagged. So I rebooted and now it won't start anymore. I think about sending it to Nokia, but maybe you can help me first.

If it does not turn on you can only get a replacement from your carrier or send it in for a repair. If you manage to enter the Qualcomm mode it would be possible to reflash the partitions, but I guess thats impossible since it wont turn on.
My phone doesn't vibrate too. I also noticed that probably all circuits used to charge the battery are actually driven by software (I used small LED to test it, after 10h of charging no light at all)
I also tried plugging in the USB charger without battery inside the device. no luck
Bootloader unlock through NCS went smooth, for dd'ing I used Windows 7 Home Premium x64(6.1.7601) with admin CLI
Command: dd if=c:\lum710rom.nb of=\\.\g:
...wrote about 1100 kBytes of data, then stopped and outputted errors

I will also try having the phone connected for longer period of time, maybe that should be the solution to our problems!

Yes, you can try that and I recommend using ubuntu for flashing with dd. You can install it easily with wubi and uninstall it as easy from within Windows.

I would always recommend to use a Linux Distribution in order to apply the unlock. Windows has sometimes problems with partitioned removable devices. Did you manage to boot up in Qualcomm mode? I assume the Windows dd command wrote to the wrong partition.

Does your device enter Qualcomm mode when you hold Vol Down+Power to power it on? You should be able to see it either popping up in your Explorer or in the Device Manager. Another method to hard reset the phone is:
1. Switch the phone off.
2. Press and hold the Volume Down, Power and Camera buttons at the same time.
3.When the phone vibrates release the Power button but keep the Camera and Volume Down buttons held for a further five seconds.

If your phone won't power on you can either bring it to a Care Point and ask for reflashing or send it in for a repair.

Hi all,
I have a Lumia 710, with an unlocked Qualcomm bootloader. Yesterday accidently while flashing a rom as the NAND Disk Drive, whilst doing that i 'didn't' select the OSBL mode & the one beneath it which says W7 Qualcomm, before flashing it. Now it got flashed but the problem is its stuck to one rom. The App deployement tools gives errors such as 'make sure the phone is booted' even though its booted & fine. Or the other error it gives is 'request rejected by host machine'. When connected to Zune i now get pop up from Zune stating 'we can't create a connection from your phone to the internet' now this comes up all the time. I can sync stuff but can't deploy stuff or flash stuff
When i did try flashing the same rom again. After flashing it started directly at the livetiles screen as if nothing happened. I was expecting the 'Welcome to Lumia' screen. Please tell me whats happening. Also i was able to flash another rom on it. However still Zune gives the same error when connected so does the Deployment Tool. I can't figure out what can be done to solve this. I suppose the bootloader might be affected. How do i refresh it? I thought about going to Dload & then Back to Qualcomm. But it seems that many people have bricked phones trying to goto Dload from Qualcomm.
I want my Lumia to be unlocked, but more over, i want it working fine...
Any help & info is appreciated, Thanks
try going back to DLOAD..or do a hard reset to your phone and flash another Custom ROM again.
wen u connect the phone..open device manager and uninstall the drivers..reconnect in same mode..let the drivers reinstall.

I followed your instructions... Heres what i did...
Step I: Performed a Hard Reset using the Vol Dwn + Camera + Power Up keys.
Step II: Turned the Phone off & connected the phone with Vol Up + Usb connect. Theres an asterisk sign on Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM (I had it uninstalled prior to the reset using the Device Manager, It was detected whilst i connected it in Nand mode again)
Step III: Flashed a new rom on it. Lumiatrix v4.3. Still Zune is giving the same error & Application Deployment is not yet possible.
Surya there are three things i need to ask you.
1. In your Noob Guide the rom flash part you are asking people to turn On their phone, select Nokia Connectivity Mode & then select the .nb file & click Write Os. When i try that it asks me for a Nand Drive.
2. If i should try going back to Dload (can i switch to Qualcomm whenever i feel like?), can you please suggest me a clear & concise method, as to how to do it. I wanted to try this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1702815) but its too confusing.
3. Is a bootloader refresh possible? I connected my phone when it was On. I got the Nokia Connectivity Mode. I tried installing the bootloader it found the phone but wanted me to be in the flash mode. However, when i enter the Nand mode it never finds my phone except when i Write Os on it.
I know i have a long list of questions. Its only because of the fact that i want to understand this better. I dun wanna end up bricking my phone. Thanks in Advance. Tc & Godbless!
Ok..wen u connect your phone to the PC while its ON, its in normal mode...the moment u turn on NSS, it will change modes, so it doesnt matter unless u click WRITE OS, which switches the phone OFF and puts it in the NAND dDrive.
as you have a 710, you can try going back to DLOAD and flash a Stock rom and see if that works, and then you can always go back to a qualcomm by my guide.
your at no loss , unless the problem you have a more complicated than we think it is.

Are you suggesting using NSS Bootloader Restore? If so, is there a mode that i need to be in? I'm using NSS 0.51b & when I click on restore it brings up a very scary warning message. As I don't want to brick it, i haven't used it yet.
Please suggest me a method... to return to Dload
I wanted to post in the development section, but it requires 10 posts or more.Thing is, I flashed it and all, NSS reported OS was written succesfully, but it won't boot past the Nokia screen.I tried hard resetting but it doesn't vibrate, it shows up as a NAND flash device in NSS,windows also picks it up so I guess it's alive.Thing is, how do I reflash it to its Original FW and Hard Reset it, it's a T-Mobile UK branded one.

I used that Lumia 800 FullUnlock ROM.
Help is greatly appreciated, as this isn't my phone and I would have to pay 400 euros for a new one if this doesn't work.
try this:
- disconnect the phone from pc
- wait a minute or more
- keep pressing power button ~10 sec, then release it
- if it still doesn't powering, keep pressing vol up button, release it, then keep pressing power button.
mine is a tmobile uk, too. after the phone goes to OSBL mode, the only way to start phone normally, is through the method i described.
good luck!
I did that, still nothing, stuck on Nokia logo. The partitions are all shown, in NSS pro there are 1-8 partitions, in ubuntu there is sdc1-9.On which partition is the OS and on which is the bootloader?

pretty going off topic even on my own topic, but how do i boot the lumia into disk mode(mass storage) so i can send files via USB?Zune only allows videos/music/pics.
I need help. My htc amaze 4g is rooted and I have s off and super cid and i was running on android revolution hd rom, an app by the name of root mobile odin pro was installed on my phone, it was attempting to create a dump file so that I could give it to the dev so that he could possibly make my cell phone compatible with the app. But now my phone will no longer power on, it does not charge, no led light, the battery is full, has sd card, no sim card. under device manager on windows 7 it comes up as QHSUSB DLOAD. Will not run into recovery mode when vol down and power button is held. Computer does not recognize it. Can not run adb in cmd prompt, no reboot command works because device can not be found. I've tried to do everything on unlimited io page to no avail. When I do connect the phone to the PC it does make a sound to inform me that I just connected it. But the screen remains black and the light remains off.
I am using the UNBRICK PROJECT THAT IS ON http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25501116
I AM ON UBUNTU BUT WHEN I TYPE IN
./brickdetect.sh
INTO THE TERMINAL IT DOES NOT DETECT MY DEVICE
Please help!

What did you do with the app? Did you attempt to flash ANYTHING on the phone? Sounds like you did however and messed up with one of its internal partitions.
EDIT: I'm going to go ahead and say you bricked your phone. I just re-read and... Why would you install something meant for *SAMSUNG* phones, on a *HTC* phone? You messed up right there. The unbricking project only will unbrick HTC Amazes when they're bricked in a certain fashion. It specifically states that it is known to be working for "writesecureflag 3" type of bricks. You could try and see if it will work in your case, but it probably won't. More likely than not, with the app you used, you might have accidentally wiped a partition that would have been safe for samsung devices (but dangerous on HTC devices).
Like he said ^^^ anything odin is for Samsung... u now have a nice coaster

*** I am so devastated, my cell phone was so valuable to me. Can't believe I was so senseless to make such an error as this. The app was for Samsung but the app said it could create a dump file so that my device would become compatible . But that sounds so stupid to me now . A little too late. I'm so sad. I wish there was some way to fix it. Wish there was a USB jig for HTC's.
IF YOU KNOW OF ANYTHING, ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING THAT MAY HELP PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!!!!
(Thank you for all the reply's)
IT happens
Hey it happens, that how we learn thing sometimes, and sometime it can cost us. You could try these things
1) See if it can be JTAGed (cheapest possibility)
2) If it's still under warranty (which it probably isn't) send it off, and say it wouldn't power on after a update.
3) Find a Amaze with a broken or cracked screen, and replace the motherboard yourself.
That's all I can think of. Good luck
I'm just wondering if you can completely Hard Brick a LG G2 to a point, where there is no revive possible.
I can purchase a cheap LG G2 international version, but the seller says that he broke it during flashing a Kernel.
Can you for example revive a phone, that had a Kernel from completely different phone flashed?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

If it's true he only flashed a new kernel then u can restore it. If he messed with the partitions then.... No. If he used a broken usb cable and fried it....
Well ask to try the phone before u by it. Also check if it's stolen
Alright, I gathered some more information from the seller.
He tried updating TWRP, but he followed wrong instructions from some website.
He can´t enter Recovery or Download Mode on the Phone.
The Display is active, but only Backlight.
When he connects the Phone to his Computer, it shows multiple Mass Storages, but the LG Software doesn´t recognize it.
Is this a common problem, that is easy to fix, or should I rather wait for another Deal to come up.
p.s. I asked him for a receipt, and he says that he has one.

If the guy was updating through TWRP, he probably have some knowledge on the matter, and the chances that he bricked it for good is high.
When I messed up my G2 a few times, being able to enter in download mode was the hint that the phone was revivable, if him really can't enter the download mode, then it is probably a bigger problem.
But the question is, by buying this possible lemon, how much will you be saving compared to buying a brand new?
If it's showing up like that, if you have a Linux machine you may be able to use dd to flash factory images to the partitions. There is a guide to it somewhere on here. But even if you were successful in flashing those, it really depends on how badly he screwed it up. In particular I really hope he didn't damage or wipe his efs. Or at least has it backed up.
Honestly, I'd point him to the right guides and have him fix it. If he screwed up his efs, or messed the partitions up, or fried something, it's dead and not coming back. If all he did was flash a kernel in twrp and it was actually from this phone and it was just a bad download or flash or something, then you'd probably be okay, but if that were the case you'd get a secure boot error and still be able to enter download mode. Personally, I would not buy a phone that won't boot, especially if the seller isn't even sure what's wrong with it.

sounds recoverable, if there is a backlight and mass storage comes up that's good, you can dd partitions with linux
no backlight + no recognizable usb device at all = bricked
still, buy at your own risk
It is.. i just did by flashing a broken rom.. sent it to the repair center and they replaced the motherboard
Right, I asked him if the Device shows as qhsusb_bulk in device Manager, and it does.
The only thing that worries me, is that there is no Boot Logo, most of the people in the Linux Fix Thread atleast get a LG Logo and not just Backlight.
I´m really unsure what to do, I can save like 150€ by buying the broken G2, but well . . . I dont know if I can fix it.
Another problem is, that I have not a single clue on how to operate Linux/Ubuntu, and the only real fix requires either of those

Just look up a guide on how to install an Ubuntu virtual machine. You should be able to connect your G2 to that virtual if you let it capture the USB port. If you can get it cheap, buy it and try to negotiate so you might have a chance on selling it for higher later on if you can't fix it. To me though, it sounds quite fixable, I would go for it.

this doesn't really matter, when I was trying to mess with the bootloader and corrupted it a few times I've never had the LG logo, as long as it comes up as storage you can DD it - the only time its a true brick is with no backlight and no usb device
if theres no boot logo you probably need to DD the aboot in

I had that problem when updating TWRP too. You have to be careful because these recoveries are only made for specific firmware versions. I cant remember how I fixed the issue after only being able to get a backlight on and no image, but I did fix it and my phone works fine. I do think you will need the TWRP files already on the phone to fix though, so you can somehow manage to flash back. They will need to be on the phone since you can push anything via ADB

i've been in this bricked situation when i was trying the 4.4.2 update manually...completely bricked, could not get into download mode too...so gave it to the service centre which at first said the main board will have to be changed when recovering through software upgrade failed...next day i got the phone back as they managed to flash the software back on it...
does not end here...i tried to flash optimus g pro 2 rom through twrp and same thing happened again...but was lucky this time as i could enter download mode and flashed kdz to recover...

And yes i truly believe that our device can be hard bricked like i did mine today.
I tried to compile a custom bootloader for G2 using Qualcom's sources and fraction of LK. But in doing so i left my phone in a quasi-state where it will not connect as a usb device coz it does not pass the bootloader (Although bootloader is working as it should). .
So the only two option remain here for me is
1. To send phone back to LG service center where they'll do idk what.
2. To use JTAG or short the ic (Wonder if it could be done ) i.e manually open the phone and boot into the primary bootloader(Qcom legacy BL).
See that's how you can hard brick ur phone the right way

But it did work coz our bootloader enfoces the signature check not in the sbl.(Our Primary boot loader)
i'm sure of it because it tries to go to download option but freezes at initial stage.
had it been the case my device would've been detected as qucom_bulk device or so..

You my dear friend are a victim of a curroupt bootloader seqence(NOT THE CoRRUPT BOOTLOADER) i.e
Your phone would start something like
1- EFI initialization ok
2-Primary Boot Load -ok
3-Vendor Boot Load -ok
4- Error unable to find proper boot sequence- system halted
So ur best options are the one that i've stated just above this thread.
My case. I root and flash custom recovery then apply OTA = medium brick. Download mode was not functioning, only recovery. To make matter worse, I flashed KK stock rom through ADB in recovery = super brick. Then I went to LG service center with poker face asked for reparation. They asked (confirm) whether your phone is rooted or not (they had already know though) and I just said like It is my sister's phone. Then they they open the phone and maybe directly format the sd card with some stuff. My phone is restored again afterward. In my opinion, software modification can always be repaired unless you fry your phone through overclock or overvolt.
