I wanted to post in the development section, but it requires 10 posts or more.Thing is, I flashed it and all, NSS reported OS was written succesfully, but it won't boot past the Nokia screen.I tried hard resetting but it doesn't vibrate, it shows up as a NAND flash device in NSS,windows also picks it up so I guess it's alive.Thing is, how do I reflash it to its Original FW and Hard Reset it, it's a T-Mobile UK branded one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587650
I used that Lumia 800 FullUnlock ROM.
Help is greatly appreciated, as this isn't my phone and I would have to pay 400 euros for a new one if this doesn't work.
try this:
- disconnect the phone from pc
- wait a minute or more
- keep pressing power button ~10 sec, then release it
- if it still doesn't powering, keep pressing vol up button, release it, then keep pressing power button.
mine is a tmobile uk, too. after the phone goes to OSBL mode, the only way to start phone normally, is through the method i described.
good luck!
I did that, still nothing, stuck on Nokia logo. The partitions are all shown, in NSS pro there are 1-8 partitions, in ubuntu there is sdc1-9.On which partition is the OS and on which is the bootloader?
lumia 800
you didnt flash the sdb3 partition you need to flash that in linux to get the phone to boot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30009310&postcount=13
do that and you will be sorted
rob :good:
Oh my god bro, If you can show me how to do that(I used NSS Pro in order to flash the OS), i'll gladly appreciate it.
Also does this apply for rainbowmod only or for every ROM?

I had on the phone 059N169_1600.3013.8107.11502. Then I update to 059M5Z7_1600.3015.8107.12070. I did it by the recovery option in the NCS. This version hasn't my language and I tried to change to 059N3S9_1600.3014.8107.12050.
When my phone was rebooted, the computer detected it other than ever. I saw Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM and removable disk with question about formatting. I clicked cancel but NCS does not detect the phone. My computer couldn't install driver for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM.
I tried to do refurbish and recovery on 3 computers. I always got the same result.
Can anyone help me?
no solution

I have the same problem, and I guess our only hope is the official tango update from zune.
I think the official tango update from zune nothing will change. I think that the Zune also does not recognize the phone after the restart.

By formatting that disk you accidently removed the bootloader from your Lumia. See this thread for details: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587650, specifically THIS post.
I don't know if it possible to recover from this. You might want to try to perform a recovery flash instead of the more general refurbish one. Instructions can be found on this forum or by a quick google (here for example). Please note that as you have formatted the bootloader partition your phone might not even want to go to the recovery mode (most likely this requires a working bootloader), in that case your phone is bricked . Good luck.

If the recovery flashing method I linked in my previous post does not work I think your phone is in an unrecoverable state (bricked). It may be that some-one else here knows how to recover, but missing/corrupted bootloaders usually mean you have to use something like JTAG to recover. And that's a difficult proces which in most cases requires hardware modifications (soldering and such). Currently no such details for the lumia exist.
Of course Nokia can fix your phone but since you tried flashing the phone yourself that is gonna cost you some money i'm afraid.

as I read all threads about that magic storage mode , you need to get it in storage mode (seen as a drive) and then you can try to copy the stuff posted here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24607410&postcount=25 ) to the partitions found on your phone .
yes I know you have another phone but it is a try to get a bootloader on that phone again , after that you could try to flash a normal bootloader and rom for your phone.

IF it still boots to usb disk mode, you can recover. You need a dd dump from the 3rd partition of the phone, or from some other phone (lumia 710, don't try with 800 since partition layouts will be different) and dump it back. You should get your 3rd bootloader back. If you messed up the entire partition table OR you deleted the first partition... you made a pretty good mess.

boot into usb disk mode, dd dumped 3rd partition then dd it back, but when I plug phone into windows 8 there is still the format prompt.
Did u mean that I need dd dumped from a health 710?
At least Disk Mode is still working
Yes, you need a dump from a working phone. If you feel brave, you can try with the copy from my lumia 800: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?lllk9lx8972t63k
Windows will always tell you the partition needs to be formatted, but you HAVE to press cancel, otherwise youll break it again. Windows cant see into any of lumia's partitions, but with linux you can see the contents and modify them.
Try to dd the partition to the phone, then run 'sync' on the terminal, then unplug the phone, hold 10 seconds the power button to turn it off and try to turn it back on normally. If the rest of the partitions are fine, it should boot, with all your data intact...

Hello Lumia Users,
with the discovery of the Qualcomm mode we are finally able to unlock our devices as well. However the process of flashing involves always a certain risk: the risk of making the device unusable, the so called bricks. I created this thread to prevent huge amounts of posts discussing methods to revive bricked devices.
You use all the methods and techniques described in this thread at your own risk. We are not responsible for any damage or loss of waranty.
Before you post in this thread please gather some information first.
1. How dead is your phone:
Does it vibrate when you hold the on/off button?
If not: leave your phone on the originale charger (with the supplied cable) for 8 to 10 hours and try again.
Does it vibrate when you hold the volume-down+power+camer button?
Are you able to enter the Qualcomm mode?
2. Details about the flashing process
What operating system did you use to flash your phone?
If you are running Linux and you are able to enter Qualcomm mode connect your Lumia in Qualcomm mode. Create a list of the lumias partitions (fdisk -l) and include it in your post.
Do you remember the command you used to flash the phone?
Sometimes you can Access the previous commands on the command prompt by pressing the up-arrow on your keyboard
Do you remember the output of the dd command?
What ROM did you flash?
Did you perform a hardreset after flashing?
3. Additional info:
Do you have a Nokia Care Point or carrier store nearby?
Did you create dumps/backups of the partitions before flashing the ROM?
Have you ever used NCS or some other tools to flash firmware to the device?
How bricked is my phone?
It vibrates. Connects to MAC osx and Windows. Will not connect in Ubuntu. Able to enter qualcomm disk mode, doesn't show up in ubuntu. Might be able to reflash it in mac osx though, or restore the partition I screwed up from an IMG file of that partition.
I used ubuntu to flash it. I accidentally flashed the 3rd partition of it. The command I used was
dd if=/Home/David/os-new.nb of=/dev/sdB3
The output said something about copying over the .nb file correctly..
I used the full unlock rom by lucifier. Nothing wrong with me. My fault on the incorrect flashing.

The big question is: Are the other partitions intact? biktor_gj has uploaded some dumps over at the development thread. You could try to flash the sdX3 Partition in OSX. However I think it is strange that Ubuntu wont recognise the device. You can use the df command to get all connected devices on Ubuntu.

That is really weird. I see two realistic options here:
a) Download the sdb9.rar posted by biktor_gj and flash it as IMG file on OSX
or
b) Ask for a repair of the device.

Yea, Tmobile agreed to send me in a new lumia 710.
I tried the df command in mac osx in terminal and the phone didnt show up. So I guess my only option is to try to revive it with an IMG of the 3rd partition of the device within disk utility. Since I am getting a new device anyways, might as well try to do whatever I can to contribute.
Do you have a 710? Would you mind uploading an image file for the 3rd partition for me?

Some guys flashed their Qualcomm Lumia 800s with NCS wich resulted in an upgrade of their bootloader. According to you this is impossible with the unlocked phones so I guess you have to sent your device in for a repair.
The Images on NaviFirm sometimes contain IMGs of the partitions. You could also try your luck there.
1. My Phone does not vibrate. I charged it the whole night. I can't enter Qualcomm Mode.
2. I used Ubuntu 12.04 with dd if="FullUnlock-os-new.nb" of = "/def/sdd9". There was no output. I used the ROM provided here: ROM. Yes, I performed a Hardreset.
3. No, I don't think so. Yes, i created an image backup of every partition. I tried to recover my phone with the NCS. It did not find my Lumia.
My phone worked like a charme. Yesterday I installed Battery Status and started the Task Manager. My phone crashed, and after a restart it lagged. So I rebooted and now it won't start anymore. I think about sending it to Nokia, but maybe you can help me first.

If it does not turn on you can only get a replacement from your carrier or send it in for a repair. If you manage to enter the Qualcomm mode it would be possible to reflash the partitions, but I guess thats impossible since it wont turn on.
My phone doesn't vibrate too. I also noticed that probably all circuits used to charge the battery are actually driven by software (I used small LED to test it, after 10h of charging no light at all)
I also tried plugging in the USB charger without battery inside the device. no luck
Bootloader unlock through NCS went smooth, for dd'ing I used Windows 7 Home Premium x64(6.1.7601) with admin CLI
Command: dd if=c:\lum710rom.nb of=\\.\g:
...wrote about 1100 kBytes of data, then stopped and outputted errors

I will also try having the phone connected for longer period of time, maybe that should be the solution to our problems!

Yes, you can try that and I recommend using ubuntu for flashing with dd. You can install it easily with wubi and uninstall it as easy from within Windows.

I would always recommend to use a Linux Distribution in order to apply the unlock. Windows has sometimes problems with partitioned removable devices. Did you manage to boot up in Qualcomm mode? I assume the Windows dd command wrote to the wrong partition.

Does your device enter Qualcomm mode when you hold Vol Down+Power to power it on? You should be able to see it either popping up in your Explorer or in the Device Manager. Another method to hard reset the phone is:
1. Switch the phone off.
2. Press and hold the Volume Down, Power and Camera buttons at the same time.
3.When the phone vibrates release the Power button but keep the Camera and Volume Down buttons held for a further five seconds.

If your phone won't power on you can either bring it to a Care Point and ask for reflashing or send it in for a repair.
Gyus, I need help - after downgrading FW from 12140 back to 12072, REFURBISH failed.

I tried following the instructions on this site, but Navifirm doesnt work anymore and the phone isnt being detected by nokia care suite.
does anyone have the required files/programs saved somewhere and can help me out?
It's a RM-801 - Lumia 800 - Australia.

Hi thanks for the tip.
I followed the instructions as per the program, and it works for the most part. when the phone reboots from the flashing of the new firmware, everything is fine... but then it says "preparing" and starts loading demo content on the phone again.. I think i need to update the ROM not just the firmware..
Is there a way to do that?

OK, you've got a demo version and ii's not recognized with ncs, can you tell me what happens when you power off the phone and then power on your device with the power on button and the volume up button pressed on the same time, if I'm correct you will feel a short buzz, then connect it to your pc and if you got a message to format your drive always press "NO" .
If nothing happens also let me know.
Greetz,
Yep, the phone made a short buzz when i held the power and volume up button, but did nothing else.
then i connected it to my computer via USB and it buzzed again but for longer. nothing happened on my PC. Then it buzzed again and turned on by itself, back into demo mode.

I had those problems before and I am familiar with Nokia Care suite and all hard reset procedures, but this time it won't respond to anything. Hard reset button combination doesn't make it vibrate and turn on. Holding volume down when sticking charger in doesn't work either. Charging screen won't appear. When connected via USB all my PCs fail to recognize this device( taking into account that other lumia 920 i have is recognized so drivers are installed correctly). Anyone has any ideas? Any forced flashing sw available?
you tried official Nokia Software Recovery Tool?

Yes, even with this doesn't work
I've got one idea that might work... I thought that battery might not charge properly and phone could get stuck in discharged state. I'll try swapping a battery with a charged one and see if anything happens. It's all based on assumption that charging might not be working during update. If assumption is wrong it won't help i guess
Tried swapping batteries. Didn't help... Any other ideas?

Have you tried using Navifirm and download compatible firmware for your 920 within your region and flash it using Nokia Care Suite? I wish I could post links but I am not able to yet.. If you have questions please PM me and Ill send you the link(s).
I've fixed a number of 920's by reflashing the OS.

Use Data Package Manager for DL the ROM, it is much faster.
Same Problem
I have the same problem with my Lumia 920 - RM 821.
Already tried all the tools of Nokia, but without results.
My Lumia has stopped completely and I can not fix it.
Same problem
Frustrated! Every time i find someone with the same problem the forum stops with no solution available. My Lumia 925 is not recognized by NCS, Phoenix or PC. Reset dos not work.
Guys, the last two posters, I have the same issue, and sad to break it to you, I think we have a hardware failure. Battery (my bet on this), display (I doubt) or something else died. If the battery swapping doesn't work, I am pretty sure something else is gone, could be anything. Something as simple as the charging pin too.
Does anyone still have the software Navifirm and Nokia care suite they could share? My 920 is stuck in a reboot loop, I've tried the hard reset (hold volume down and power, wait for vibrate, release power, should see exclamation mark), but it just loops between off (3sec) and the NOKIA word (3sec) while I hold vol down . Thanks.
No matter, followed the instructions at https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2515453 which has got it working.
Side question: Is Lumia 920 section officially dead?
So now i'm on WP8.1 looking forward to update to 10, whatever it is. Insider preview, technical, whatever, I just need to. But all fast ring, slow ring, all are not working. Everytime I select one, it force me to reboot in 10s, then REPEAT for eternity. No update in update setting.
I don't know if the lumia 920 section is dead or not. But I do know that Microsoft has ceased support for the lumia 920 concerning windows 10 update. SO you cant update it anymore via insider etc etc. --> But still the last preview version was really buggy so consider yourself lucky.
If you really want to try/update to windows 10 then look at the XDA lumia 920 main page (see button somewhere above this site. Are we allowed to post links in this forum???).
I've used these steps to update my lumia 920 to windows 10 and it really works. However you need to know that Windows 10 on the lumia 920 isn't perfect.

Appreciate your input. I tried. That tutorial was to sideload app and tweak and stuff. But i'm still on 8.1 and unable to do so IDK why. Everytime I sideload that app I get run time error. Please check capabilities etc.
Right now I am trying to revert back further to oldest 8.1 (before small patch OTA) to see if I can re-try that trick again.
I got a new phone. And giving this one to my sister. Facebook doesnt work very well (news feed skipping problem) so I try to upgrade to WP10 to get a new FB app for her.
Edit: Wait, I take that back. I checked general wp section. Not L920. So I need to check it again to make sure. Thanks.

Well I don't really know what you meant with side loading. When you look at the lumia section onder development you'll see a link with the Title:
[ROM][DHT v0.1]Windows 10 v10586 ROM for Nokia Lumia 920 (RM-821) posted by ngame within this board I've also done some tests and I've given some info.
I essence you're going to put a windows 10 OS from a different device onto a lumia 920 I thin k it came from the 950. So putting a custom rom on the 920.

Yeah, I just saw that. Couldn't find a clear tutorial on how to do this. Now i'm on stock 8.1. Do you have a link for complete tutorial that includes link to every necessary components in English?
I could do that, however I first have to know 1 thing. are you using RM820 or RM 821 or etc? BEcause the faq is based on a RM821.

RM821. Would fit perfectly
Oke well, if you want I can make a Faq based on my experience resulting in a working lumia 920 with an official windows 10 os.
However please note that If something were to fail or if the device were to brick (wich you can just unbrick see the lumia 920 board) I will not be responsible for any of it.

Don't worry mate. I messed around with mobile software since Symbian-day. I've been off for only 2-3 years.
Oke well I'm at work right now so I'll type something tonight (fyi. I live in the Netherlands).

Anytime, mate.
First you need to download the following files:
- Hex_loader
- SBL3_Engineering
- WindowsDeviceRecoveryToolInstaller
-------> - http://nokiaviews.com/unlock-windows-phone-bootloader-and-enable-mass-storage.html
- EFIESP & Custom Rom File
-------> - https://www.mediafire.com/folder/nd6yd9pzbld7v/DHT_L920
- Malaysian FFU file RM821 you need this one because, apparently,
the Malaysian firmware uses a different storage partitioning, which is necessary for windows 10.
Yes it is possible to reformat the drive with windowsitnernals, however most people on the board and from experience can tell you that it won't work.
When you flash the ISO it will say that the ISO is too BIG.
-------> - http://www.lumiafirmware.com/guid/059R024
- WPinternals 1.2
-------> - http://www.wpinternals.net/index.php/126-wpinternals-1-2-released
Now First organize:
Extract the zip/rar files to a folder and make it clear so that you can find it again:
I don't know if certain steps are or aren't necessary but I'll include them since
I've done them in order to make it work.
It is recommended to HARD reset first before doing this.
First: you need to install WindowsDeviceRecoveryToolInstaller,
1 to recover the phone and
2 it will install the right driveres on your pc. Atleast I was told to do this (you just have to install it that's it).
Second: Start WPInternals:
1 you need to bootload your device using the following files, HEX, ENGINEER etc the first 3 files above.
2 you need to change your current device firmware to the Malaysian ROM. --->PLATFORM--> FLASH--> Flash ORIGINAL FFU.
3 it will take some time and it will need a reboot
4 After that go to load iso and use the files--> WPInternals go to the -> Platform -> Flash -> Flash Separate partition and select the MainOS partition.
Third: when it is done:
1 Your device MAY show the following glitches:
-Stops at nokia screen,
-stops at windows screen,
-stops at the boot screen,
-it will boot to the start screen but you wont see any tiles,
-it will boot to the start but you can't use the touchscreen,
-it will boot to the start with touchscreen but you wont be able to swipe beyond the start screen.
2 To solve this you need to do a hard reset so if possible turn off your device.
Then coneect your device to a charger while holding down. When you see a exclamation point ! you need to let go and press the following up-down-power-down. It will then do a hard reset.
If you are unable to turn the device off then do the following--> perform a soft reset bij holding power and down. When it restarts quickly connect the charger and hold down. If you're to slow it will boot up and you need to do it again. But you'll have enough time to do this.
After restart it should work.
Good luck.

Will keep you posted. Thanks for the tutorial.

IDK why people love mediafire so much. I don't remember the last time that I managed to download big file through that website. And DepositFiles.
No matter at what internet speed i have. No matter how fast I can download from other websites. I just can't get more than 30kbps from that 2 websites. I just can't.
Edit: Worse thing is ffu file download can't be resumed. Everytime my stupid internet disconnect for 3s for absolute no reason, the download restarts.
Well sorry but that's where I've downloaded the files. Maybe click download and just wait...

Hard reset was up-down-power-down.
You have the opposite. My phone was stuck for 2hours, BRAH. 2 hours.
So sorry for that it was late and I was tired.
But did you get it to work?

Can confirm everything is fine. Thanks so much, mate. This is very very helpful.
Happy to hear that everything is working. Really sorry messing up the hard reset combination.
