A good cabluetooth for home use with noise cancellation? - HTC EVO 3D

Good evening,
Does anyone know if a good Bluetooth that is good to use indoors where the person I am speaking to cannot hear or be bothered by my TV or others speaking in my room? I share a room with my brother and unfortunately I bought a Plantronics explorer 250 where she says the TV sounds super load when its really not and I sound very low. She can also hear every time my brother talks which annoys her at times. I used to have a Plantronics voyager 510 where she would never even know I was using a Bluetooth and on top of the fact she could hear me perfectly, she wouldn't be bothered by anything else. I wanted to ask you guys what you thought before resorting back to it. Anything around $50 is fine, the cheaper the better.
Thanks everyone.

Anything on this? If not, please delete thread. Thanks.

Jawbone is the obvious choice. They have expanded on the various incarnations of the thier product. The Noise Assasin technology is definitely reputable for silencing background noise although I would encourage you to check product reviews for devices by other manufacturers because I have heard of others outperforming jawbone in this area

Tawkon Application for Samsung Galaxy S Phones

Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up about a new application called Tawkon. It's pretty cool. What it does is monitor radiation released by your phone when making calls and alerts you when it's high. It has background monitoring and graphs. It works well and honestly the IU is amazingly polished. The mind the reviews and low stars, because they were given by idiots who can't get it to work for their phone (Droid X, Desire, etc) when it says Galaxy S only.

Finally released?!?!
I remember talk of the release for this app about 6 months ago for Apple but the nazi control iTunes canned the release for them. Great to have it for Android!
So you work there...?
It's fine if you do, but don't act like it's some thing you just happened across....

Quoted from Wikipedia:
The effect mobile phone radiation has on human health is the subject of recent interest and study, as a result of the enormous increase in mobile phone usage throughout the world (as of June 2009, there were more than 4.3 billion users worldwide[1]). Mobile phones use electromagnetic radiation in the microwave range, which some believe may be harmful to human health. A large body of research exists, both epidemiological and experimental, in non-human animals and in humans, that shows overall no evidence for harmful effects.
Don't worry so much.
How could an app even physically measure the radiation? Maybe it just estimates based upon what frequencies you are transmitting and receiving and at what rate?
stupid app, thats why it has a bad rating.

[Q] what are all the bad things about the galaxy s 2

I've heard that on some batches theres a screen issue a little yellow light. Any more defects? Also this can be helpful to others. Thank you. +rep
Read through the threads, youll find theres not that many actual users with the problem vs multiple post from same person.
One of the bad things is that owners of the sgs2 cant seem to find the search function on this site, neither can they read the threads that have been posted before their own 'totally unique' thread.
Its probably best you just read a couple of threads and decide for yourself. just remember that people only tend to post to complain, people almost never post to say they happy with a device.
+1 OMG theres millions registered users here, its all been posted/asked before.

The headphones output is awful. I have to play music at full volume with all the EQ bands maximised in the equaliser and I still can't get a decent level to combat street noise.

Sounds like either you haven't got the headphones all the way in or that your headphones are naff. I can't maximise the sound without hurting my ears!
I've tried several different pairs of headphones and they are definitely all the way in. I've spent most of my spare time this week trying to sort it out.

Here's one, there's no control over who can buy it.
Instead of just accepting that, based on their needs, the display, battery life, camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, audio, GPS, and/or 2/3/4G signal might not meet their expectations, rather than return the phone, people start a trillion threads seeking affirmation of their issue. Then, the rest of the minority having the same issue(s) pile on to all basically say the same thing. After exhausting each other and running a thread up to 20+ pages someone will start another just to repeat all that was said again. And you know what, it doesn't matter that the SGS1, DHD, iP4, or N8 were better at certain things than the SGS2. The phone is what it is and may not ever be as good as either it should be or you want it to be. Take what Samsung has on offer and accept that or return the phone and get something that serves your needs better.
Either my particular device is a rock star in the top 1% of all those made or my expectations are lower or perhaps more reasonable than others. This is after all a phone, not a device for managing nuclear weapons. Regardless, if the phone didn't meet my needs sufficiently I wouldn't create 1,000 posts and martyr myself, I'd return it and get something else that better served me. I had a G2X which was as horrible a device as ever produced. When I read on that forum that all I was experiencing was common I lost quite a bit of money to dump it and get an SGS2. Hint.

Seems like one of the main qualifications is lack of search button willing to try anything without reading the instructions .Must have is to post the same topic as others post hijack threads etc .
The idiot quota is much higher than on SGS 1 and approaching Nokia levels .,
Most of us where in that category but actually took time to read the FAQS work our way through the posts to gain an understanding before attempting anything .
Now its read the first sentence and flash .

OP, from my experience (i was one of the later people to get the phone)
I do not have heat issues.
I do not have battery issues.
My sound is amazing and very loud.
My earphones sound AWESOME, and EVEN better with 5.1 surround sound turned on (built in on music player)
My GPS locates in 1-3 seconds - it once took 5 seconds, with or without wifi.
My device does not creek.
My screen has no banding issues.
My screen has no yellow tinge/yellow spot.
My camera has no red dot/spot.
IF YOU WANT THIS PHONE. Get it, and the chances are you will have a similar device to mine, a perfectly working one.
Remember the forums are a concentration of all the phones. If you put these problem into the proportion of devices that have been made and sold (god knows how many at least 3 million plus), a absolutely minute proportion have these issues.
I had the exact same fears as you, so, go for it and you won't regret it!
Same as Daivik
Well , except on the heat, but i blame for now the apps I use for this overheating :
FPse and snes9x EX
for me it's for now an application problem (poorly or not optimized yet for dual cores ) so I cope with the heat while waiting for updates.
Totally satisfied with the SGS2 as it is

I was asking this maybe a week ago and started the first thread that nguyendqh posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379081 and I feel it has quite a bit of objectivity and honesty. They did a good job of covering points in very few posts. I've been doing a fair amount of searching in these forums and I haven't read any feedback that makes me think it has any obvious issues.
One person in that thread(here is the post) said something about signal or sound quality issues, but a few replies after that made it sound like it could be a defect. Truly, this is one of the few negative comments I have found about the amaze at all.
Everything I have read makes me think that the sensation is a solid phone, and there seems to be quite a few people who upgraded to the Amaze, and I haven't seen any complaints besides there not being a ton of roms- but even that will change as the amaze is out for a while.
only problem i see so far iv had it for 2 days was the screen bleed due to the captive buttons..that and the battery suck just as much as the sensation...
I have had the phone since the week after release, and it's been a joy to use. Being a crack flasher, they guys over in the Dev section have kept me pretty busy, so I have no complaints there. I can only imagine how good it will get when we've got a faux kernel to OC the inevitable ICS builds. We've got some very good devs on this phone.
The phone is very solid, I haven't had any issues with reception or anything, and am very happy with performance. I haven't had much issues with the battery, it's about what I expected... not awesome, but not bad either.
Also, it's nice we've been able to completely circumvent the S-ON conundrum until we find the fix for that.
I don't know about the rest of you, but the battery life on my Amaze is actually quite decent. I have the Sensation getting ready to return to T-Mobile. The battery on that phone is horrific.
Still no S-OFF. It's an issue for me, anyways.
Capitan Totti said:

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do agree... why is he so angry???? anyways you made a great choice. The amaze is a great phone. If you guys are having battery problems I would root your phone. Its a huge difference !!!!
lol alright guys, no more arguing lets not be like other forums. but seriously, I don't experience what totti said about the amaze's "speaker"... not the back speaker the ear speaker.
"The worst aspect is the earpiece. It is UTTER TRASH. It literally silences itself when you talk, and will "turn on" when the other party speaks, however, when that occurs, it will "eat" the first few milliseconds and you will get a broken up phrase (from the other party), 99.9% of the times. Seems to be an HTC issue btw."
I know what he meant by htc having sound problems, like the clarity gets distorted in other devices, but the amaze's speakers both front and back are really good imo.
anyways there's too many threads like this.
I listed this too many times
Problems:
1. battery life isn't the greatest (YET... come on new kernel!)
2. stupid softkey bleeds
3. lack of release of full sources!
4. battery gets warm when tethering, maybe other things too, but that's it for me
everything other aspects is either equal or better than other phones.
Just got WiFi calling which was my major gripe. Works well and other than s off which isn't a big deal to me it works great.

You guys are not audio people meaning folks who record music or listen to the audio track in videos, that the phone records itself.
The big problem is simply that the 'fidelity' (sound quality for recording operation) is terrible on this phone. On the GS2, it's mono, but the sound quality is very good.
If you're listening to some music or a video then it's fine. But if you want to use the Amaze4G or other HTC phones to record something, the sound will be very poor. So whether that matters depends on the user. On YouTube there is a video made by a new Galaxy Note, That has stereo (like the Amaze4G recordings) but sounds fine, and provides a stereo comparison.

Well, I would think that this is the sort of thing that the OP is looking for. Personally, I don't use the video function too much, but it is nice to have if something I really wanted to catch it is nice to have in my pocket. I can expect some good quality pictures from a phone these days, but I wouldn't expect the phone to be the way I made video blogs(if i did that sort of thing).
I am curious, do you have a few samples you could put side by side? A big factor would be that they were recorded in similar environments.. and I wonder if the phone could be set to record in mono audio, and if so if that would create a better quality?
I actually have a question. When recording video, the sound isn't super bad, but with so many mics for noise cancellation and all, the sound can be a bit off. You think that with ICS this can be adjusted or is it something htc has to fix?

Sprint Direct Connect Now -- Who's ready to get their Nextel back? [NOW AVAILABLE]

I've missed having PTT since I gave up Nextel for my HTC Mogul. But this news has got me stoked, and glad I've stayed with Sprint. Coming in the form of an Android application, this is rumored to connect with all past, present, and future Direct Connect phones...
http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/20/sprint-leaked-memo-direct-connect-now-android-app/
Anyone else able to get excited about this?
UPDATE: Released today, September 16, 2012. Only available for the Kyocera Rise in the Play Store. More phones to follow, but no information coming from Sprint about what or when...

Here's a video demonstration of the application from Sprint:
Not really, I always found it annoying. Nothing more annoying than listening to conversations in your super market by some wanna be thugs talkin to his baby mama

Hell yeah! PTT works great in the field. @
Always saw it as useful to people who can't be bothered to take off gloves or drop tools, like construction workers or garbage men. Its just instant speaker phone, right? I just remember a few friends having it and hearing that annoying chirp and listening to a conversation i'm not a part of. Pick up the phone and talk if you aren't preoccupied, chances are people aren't impressed and find you annoying.
PTT could be a blessing or a curse.
LONG time ago, I worked as an IT in a hospital, and was given a huge-ass iDEN phone. While it was great for my purpose (people in another branch could always get in touch with me), I grew tired of thug wannabes dialing random numbers and trying to see if they find a female on other end. Always pleasant when you sit in a meeting and all of a sudden *chirp* yo baby wassup! And no, I always had to keep this thing on, even during meetings. Company policy.
But other than that, it was great. Looking forward to it on Android, as long as you can set privacy settings, and maybe ability to reject callers on initial callup.
Sure, "Thug Wannabes" could be a problem. I grew up in a country part of Central Florida, and EVERYONE has it. They still run it. My dad just got rid of it recently. So, I'm glad it's coming back. There was a way to make your conversations go through the earpiece and not the speaker. Some people just didn't have the decency to do it that way.
Here's my take... If they are using their Data Network for this, than it's going to be worthless, the already existing TikL, is AWFUL if you don't have a decent signal. If it's going to be based off of their talk/text network, then I'm all for it, it would probably work much better.

I use tikl very often and it generally works fine even with only one bar of signal. I think it is by far the best PTT app for android. Tikl also has a privacy setting for all those who don't like that people can just chirp and start talking. With the privacy on no sound can come besides the chirp until you respond.
Well i do agree over hearing conversations can be annoying it wasnt just thugs everyome was guilty of that. I work in construction and always have 2 phones on me. My gs2 ans my i756. Alot of times its so loud i cant hear my gs2 ring but i can hear the 2 way on my nextel. It would be nice for my girlfriend to be able to 2way me if its something important.

HeyTell works pretty well for what it is.
It will be interesting to see if the app Sprint will be using is true time direct connect or voice storage.
The down side is the speakers on some android devices are horrible, EVO 4G and EVO 3D come to mind. Thats one of the main reasons i went to the Epic Touch, better external audio.

lol lol lol
But contractors rely on that kind of communication
So i saw that "leaked memo" the transform ultra is in our stock and it is not PTT capable.
Hope they do make a PTT app for direct connect.

Refund/not accepting the package

Hi, I've decided to cancel my order of the OnePlus X, but the order state is already: 'processing'. OnePlus spokeperson told me that i can refuse the package when it ships to me and they will refund me the money.
My question is, will they refund the WHOLE cost (Phone+shipement) or just the cost of the phone?
Thanks in advance.
Why didn't you ask this to them? :3
I did, but they respond at best once a day(I know they have a lot of customers at the moments, so I'm okay with it). I'm asking here, maybe someone had a similar problem.
I'm in the same boat. I opened also a PayPal dispute as they advised. I'm also not sure the express shipping costs will be refunded. Please keep this thread updated with your and/or others people experiences.
Pretty much sure they won't refund shipping cost, they'll probably also charge you for return shipping.

Sounds fair to me. They shipped it in good faith that they had a legitimate order.
Yeah i agree with @CafeKampuchina
Why buy a phone if you won't want it?? Such a stupid thing to do.
I bought the phone with an invite since it was going to expire in a few hours, but the next day i saw how unfinished this product is (software/AA cpu/camera/sd problems etc adn how I could have bought something better for this price) so I've submitted a ticket to cancel my order while it was still at "pending shipment".
//NOTE it was still at: Pending shipment, which means they should have just cancel the order and refund me the money as it states here:
"You can cancel your order before it ships by submitting a ticket. Please make sure to choose Cancellation as the issue!
However, once your order status has been changed to “Processing”, your package will be on its way to the address that you provided. In this case, you may refuse the parcel and send us a cancellation request saying you've done so. We'll issue you a full refund when we confirm the package has been returned to our warehouse"
I have submitted the ticket at 11:00PM, however the guy have responded to my ticket at 4:00AM, and it changed to "processing" at ~2:00/3:00AM. To be honest I dont see this as my fault, but I've not heard from him since and the phone is on its way to my house.

@Qbsti
You should sell it unopened as soon as it arrives.. This phone has a lot of demand so no harm, and you will make someone very happy..!
I agree with the above, just sell it.
Oh and next time don't believe every person who's complaining about issues, because some people are compulsive moaners.
I for one an totally happy with my OPX, and I have had it for a week now. Most of those issues you mention are down to software an OP team are already working on a fix.

In Poland there is little to none demand for the phone. On our "ebay", Allegro.pl you can find many offers, but no one is buying.
I guess I'm stuck with this phone at least untill the next nexus with sd820.
Jackshot - I'm kind of worried about the camera and low audio quality /w headphones. I'm long past being a mobile gamer

All the threads on OP forums are praising this device. No one has said that audio is bad, and neither have I. I've actually listened via earphones for about 2-3 hours this week and it sounds perfectly fine to me.

Well Im coming from N4 which had pretty bad audio quality (bad speaker, subpar headphone quality, terrible call quality) so maybe it will not bother me that much.
Also the thing I noticed about people, especially in India, when they are hyped about a device they prise everything about it without noticing any shortcomings.
Anyway, if I have to lose 20% if the price in the process of returning the phone then I'm going to keep it.

Yeah I had a nexus 4 as well mate, which my gf now owns. I used to listen to it via headphones, it didint sound too bad but then again I wasn't running stock. Speaker was pretty poor tbh, both quality and positioning.
I'm happy with the whole package of the OPX, it has its shortcomings but all of them seem software related. Yes there is only 1 speaker on the OPX but the quality is pretty good and the position is great, and I understand that they had a budget to work with. Which seems even more admirable considering what they have achieved.
Keep the phone. I think many people just keep panicking and overreacting when they find some bugs. You have to remember that as usual people that are satisfied with their purchase tend to forget to write reviews since they're busy playing with their phone and are happy with it, but almost everyone who's not happy is going to write everywhere how crappy this phone is.
I'm pretty sure that you'll like the phone more than you think you will. Also trust in devs. Most of the bugs that you'll find will be gone by the end of the year

I'm a long time Paranoid Android user, and most of their team is working for OnePlus at the moment. I belive that they can make this phone fly
i am coming from a nexus4
this phone feels good in hand
performance is very good
camera ist okay although helen said they will release manual mode camera sometime
sound quality is fine. i dont hear any difference to other devices
battery life is good but can be tuned software wise
display is really good
i think most problems this phone has are due to the immature software
the opx is a really good phone for the price point
