[Q] CM9 on Optimus T (P509) - Optimus One, P500, V General

I have an Optimus T (P509) running CM7 (6.5.8) on old baseband. It works great and there is no real reason for me to switch ROMs but I am getting the urge to fiddle around with the new CM9. I have no problem/fear of updating to the new baseband, however, after reading this post it has me wondering if it will be worthwhile. Is there anybody using the P509 Optimus T with the new CM9 ROM? If so, how are your results?
Thanks,

Make a backup and try out the new rom. If you like it, keep it else restore.

I'm using the P509 as well. I did the upgrade which entailed flashing v20 Baseband. Window XP and Ubuntu see me phone just fine. HOWEVER, on Win7 the computer only sees USB Mass Storage if it is mounted from ClockworkMod Recovery.
I'm convinced that it's a driver issue...but since this all began, I've noticed the my SCSI Virtual Drive Controller has a registry error... It's a great rom. HOWEVER, now I can't seem to figure out how to flash back to the v10 baseband.
Running through the same steps as before, except when I run the KDZ Updater that worked before, no longer sees my phone. So, I'm not even sure how to revert.
There were so many great roms for old bb, and I'd like to use them again. Wifi calling is missing, which is something I miss.
OVERALL, this is an awesome ROM!!!!!!!! If I can only figure out this problem or figure out how to change the intestines of the T-Mobile Wifi Calling (Keneto.apk) file to work for 4.0.X, all the order will be returned.

ot
i changed my baseband with lgdmp just fine with win7
if kdz cant detect then just shake the phone
there are so many good roms for new bb i dont want to return
one thing: on new bb roms you have to look for roms that support funny sim otherwise 3g will NOT work

try extracting kineto apk from the htc sensation or htc amaze or galaxy s II ics update. you can start from there

Im using the P509, on the new baseband. It seems fine for me. but i also have Att. the 4.0.x roms are nice but i find that i like the 2.3.x ones better.

I really need help with updating to the new baseband. It won't work on my P509. i tried updating to v20 but then it effs up my phone, i lose data, and it messes up my baseband and imei. so someone should really tell me how to update the bb on P509

I flashed gingerbread with kdz then rooted it flashed Cm7 then eventually cm9 everything works
If you on at&t then I think only 2g works for you
I use p509

I worry about my baseband, do you?

Hi all, I don't think most Vibrant users worry about it (at least from what I've seen), but do you worry about losing your baseband/EFS partition/IMEI info when flashing?
For those of you who don't know or forgot, basically some flashes can result in a generic IMEI number and you SIM card would no longer be readable under any custom ROM. You would then have to ODIN to stock and stay there forever, as that is the only way your SIM would be readable.
I know this was a problem a while ago when CM7 or MIUI was flashed, but is it even worth worrying about anymore?
Hopefully someone can inform me and others about the issue. Thank you for your time!
I'm not cause I got my efs backed up. Plus AOSP ROMS are no longer tedious to flash..just flash like any other rom. Though odining back to stock is the only way to leave AOSP I don't really care.

Hey laylovj,
So we only have to ODIN to stock if we're going from an AOSP rom to some non-AOSP ROM? (How common are these?)
Also, I remember hearing that if we want to go from Gingerbread (specifically CM7) back to Froyo we'd have to ODIN. Not true?

Yea...there are three for us VIbrant Owners...
You need to Odin back to stock w/ repartition checked if you want to go back to Sammy based roms coming MIUI and any other CM7 based ROMs.
That's great to know, thanks so much for the info laylovj.
Anyone else?
I think i backed up my efs at some point but i dont worry about it too much... at one point, flashing kernels in gb, i lost.my baseband i had 'no imei' according to my phone... i odined to stock and now im back on cm7 texting 24/7 so idk
... itd prob be aa good idea to have a backup

Why worry now? I could understand worrying when we were toying with fire--i.e. early voodoo, etc. But almost all roms now are easily flashed and provided you follow instructions to the tee, you will have no problems.

I couldn't stand it if I lost my IMEI and was stuck on a stock, Touchwiz ROM. That's the only reason I worry.
younix258, I do have a backup of my EFS folder, but I guess ODINing to stock will also fix the problem like it did for you. Good to know.

I lost my IMEI a long time ago while flashing an unlocker or maybe CM7. I have this generic IMEI that has been working every since though with all the ROMs. Even Tmobile can't identified what phone I am using but they haven't shut down my service probably because I am paying $200 a month on 3 lines,.
Hmm, I wonder how often that's the case though.
From http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859914,
"In case you screwed your IMEI by playing with the nv_data.bin and you are experiencing issues like:
Fake IMEI (usually 004999010640000)
Unable to download apps from the market
Unable to unlock your SIM card using your PIN
Weird apps are downloading automatically from the market
Blinking SIM card icon on the top tray… ETC"
So I'd definitely like to avoid losing my IMEI, even if everything seems to be fine without it.

[Q] P500h V10V, cannot get 3G/Data to work with Gingerbread

Been trying to get my phone to run fully on gingerbread, and have tried the official v20e.kdz flash, as well as Mik_os's CM7, both worked great, and I liked them a lot.
BUT, I can't get my 3G/Data connection to work on either. WiFi works fine, and I can connect to the internet fine that way.
So I am currently flashed back to the gross V10V 2.2.1 Froyo until I can get it figured out. I REALLY want to run CM7, but with no 3G I just can't really use it.
Searches have returned nothing. Any other canadian guys out there with this same problem?
I have a data plan, and I am with Koodo/Telus.
I believe it has something to do with the baseband.
Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1217504
Already checked it out, but the V10E image will not work with my phone. I need the V10V image for it to work. Is there a 7z for the V10V platform?

If you want a custom ROM, select one that corresponds to your baseband or switch the baseband. If you do not, you will have no data. That is all to it. End of story.
You can extract the baseband yourself from KDZ archive. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901417 (steps 1-2).
All of this covered in the sticky thread.
Got it. Currently have extracted needed files from the uncompressed dz file for my stock ROM. I will be reuploading CM7 and franco's kernel,(Lots of users seem to have luck with it, and I liked it when I ran it for a day) and then flashing my V10V radio and I will let you know!
Edit:
Wait, CM7 currently has a bug so 3G/Data does not work? Shoot! Or am I fixing this by flashing my stock rom's baseband? Will find out soon enough....
And I admit I'm a bit of a noob, I only started doing this last week. I'm learning though.

No dice. My phone was in its factory state when I began this project. It was rooted, installed AmonRa's custom backup, and I installed DrellisDee's Kernel so I could overclock with 2.2.1 froyo. Was stable at 480/768, but it still wasn't enough.
Nandroid backup, google backup, cleared cache, and dalvik. (Thank your AmonRa!)
Flashed CM7, latest stable release 6.5.7
Flashed franco.Kernel.v1-16082011
Booted up, currently running with no issues. Flashed my V10V baseband using LGMDP v1.5.exe .
No errors, everything went well, battery still at 92%.
Still no internet unless connected to WIFI, Damn. Guess I'm S.O.L. on this one eh?
Thanks for the help guys. Gonna check out some other Ginger ROMs and give them a try to see if I can get ginger to work with my 3G network. Any suggestions? I'm stuck with v10 based ROMs since LG hasn't released any V20 setups for my network.

At least it works now.
Yeah, I don't think I can put my phone down now. Definitely enjoying the benefits of CM7. I think I am gonna go make my friend with the galaxy S jealous lol.

You can't tell me how you got the phone rooted in the first place can you?
I'm with Koodo and have the Froyo 2.2.1 firmware on there.
I've tried everything I can do to get it rooted, and it just won't!
Gingerbreak says that there is a problem and won't do it.
Superoneclick hangs on step 6 which is mounting the SD card
I tried to grab a v10_G flash which is the telus stock ( I think ) but there was an error while trying to flash with kdz flash ( update error param =2 ).
Can ANYBODY help me to figure this out?
I havd koodo, just last friday I rooted 2 friend's phones with the gingerbreak app from xda thread. I took the second one and at first it didn't work because there were too many dots in the file name, simple as that, took me a while to figure it out, so I renamed to something like gingerbreak1.apk and it worked. For the data not working, just google " koodo apn " then you'll end up with the good apn info wich is simply. " sp.koodo.com " , port = 80, NO proxy as it just slow down the net, the other settings as they already are, 302 and 230 or something like that they come as default near the bottom of apn creation option in mobile options. All other fields leave blank. Hope it works..

I decided to install a different version of gingerbreak, and suddenly everything worked so simply...
I have since installed clockworkmod and have done a full back up.
Then I installed cyanomod and everything is up and going.
I was nervous to flash the google apps, but everything is happy.
Oh ya... I did have to update my apn data to the koodo network. I've tested MMS in and out.
You might want to try Andy's Phoenix rom; the fastest one and amazing statusbar. Some light text issues will be fixed the 20th october update. Beside that, the best for me with franco 2.6.35.14 oct. 2 kernel. Anyway, glad you could make it

P500h - root+upgrade process.

I've got a Telecom NZ P500h phone here which Superboot would refuse to root as surprisingly it came with a late October release of 2.3.3 OOTB.
I had to use LGMDP to flash the old (December) 2.2.1 release of the same P500h firmware (from the thread in the dev forum), and I was then able to root it with Superboot.
I then had to use LGMDP again to flash the v20g baseband - this is the slightly dodgy bit as there doesn't seem to be a v20g baseband anywhere that is specifically for the P500h. I bit the bullet and flashed it anyway, and the phone now identifies as a standard P500. (Uh oh I thought).
Once I'd done that, I used the manual method to flash the current v3.06 ThunderG recovery, then rebooted into recovery and flashed the GingerLOL ROM.
Rebooted, and everything seems to work fine. WiFi works, 3G data works, calls work.
So, I'm not sure what difference the "h" designation implies, but unless I've yet to find something nasty, crossflashing it to a standard P500 seems to work just fine.
Now I'm about to flash it to the current AGA ROM instead as GingerLOL hasn't been updated in a long time. Not keen on CM7 as it seems to have too many issues.
So, if anyone else has a 500h phone, then you might be lucky and this process will work for you. If someone has gone through the same process and knows of issues I'm likely to come across as a result, please let me know!

Wifi Error

Ok, so i flashed an Imosayon kernel and its working perfectly and to the best i could tell the wifi worked too. but the instructions for wifi in the kernel setup were to delete Data/misc/wifi so i did and now its not working.. i did save the file when it didn't work i put it back and it still doesn't work... when i start up the wifi it says error
I'm also running imoseyon kernel, I've never seen the instructions to delete that file. What version are you running?

Glad to see you resolved your issue, Im going to check out the new sim card at my local Verizon store and hopefully be able to upgrade to this new one for free!

Urgent (please help)

Like a dummy I think I deleted something I wasnt suppose to. I tried flashing artmod using philztouh recovery (latest). when I went to flash artmod it was giving me a status 7 installation fail and was talking about needing 5 args but only having 4. so I went back to the mounts/storage and started formating everything except the sdcard and sns but I formated /firmware and tried formatting /persist. Now my phone only boots a few roms IE>...CM 11 M4 and Mokee but the wifi is not turning on at all and there are no sim apn's....I cant use mobile data or wifi whatsoever...I have tried manually entering any apn's I can find to no avail. I should of never used philztouch when I have no idea what formatting /firmware would of actually done to the device....Im guessing I need to return to stock using LGPNT (which is another thing I hope the file itself isnt huge b/c I have a ****ty ass wifi connection that im pulling from air)...I have done just about everything I can possibly think about doing to include trying to restore TWRP roms I had previously back-uped.....Just sat on the vanir boot screen carbon rom doesnt boot whatsoever either nor do PACMan....Im now back with TWRP with efs/sdcard/KK support. I havent changed radios or anything....Can someone please give me a hand so I dont have anice shiny brick

I think that just means you have the mako bootloader. Mine says the same thing and I've never converted.
Have you tried restoring your efs partitions? You can if you have an old TWRP backup, or freegee, or they might be sitting on your sdcard.
Maybe flash the at&t jb radio after restoring efs.

Ive looked into the EFS back up folder and I see three of em but how can I restore an efs ? I have an old back up of vanir but it never booted and I have two twrp back up's of carbon but they were failed back-ups....I really have no idea how any of this happened ? Its like the phone doesnt even recognize the sim card and wifi wont even turn on whatsoever (3 hours ago everything was working perfectly). It wasnt til I formatted /firmware with philztouch recovery that all of these problems occured....
well i tried finding a copy of the at&t jb radio on your rom thread but codefire.re has told me file not found on mozzila and chrome

yeah I followed that link but it doesnt seem to really be the problem Im having. If your phone doesn't even see the SIM card, it may be more than a radio issue. Your library don't give a **** what you download, they are paid too little to care.

I had a similar problem trying to install Art Mod rom on my LG OG using Philz touch CWM recovery!!! I switched to TWRP 2.6.3.0 and have not had any problems... Just something about the newer version that don't mingle well with the rom.. if I'm not mistaken CWM 6.0.3.8 works well with the rom also..
I had a problem just a few moments ago trying to use the efs supported/kk TWRP & also philztouch...PT recovery gave me a status 7 and kk supported TWRP gave me an error on mounting /system...I have not used CWM or official TWRP...I'd like to try artmod but I'm still hooked on xposed framework and cm ROMs

What is an efs supported/kk twrp and phil... if you're using the right recovery l, flashing the right rom, and still encountering issues. I would recommend just lgnpst back to stock to have a fresh start since the process of going back to stock, rooting and installing recovery for this phone is quite simple
