It is also possible to return completely to stock, if you so choose. Check out the development forum.

I don't use the G-tablet as much as I expected, so I'm considering putting it up for sale.
My question is, do you guys think it would be more desirable to a buyer if I left the custom rom (calkulin + clemsys froyo), or should I return it to stock first?
In the past, I've noticed cell phones for sale went for more when they were unmodified versus ones that advertised "rooted + Cyanogenmod!", etc. I guess because some buyers don't like thinking that the previous owner was mucking about in ways that could have bricked it or voided the warranty or something. But with the G-tablet, the stock rom was so limiting I think people might prefer something that gives access to the market and a decent launcher.
I dunno- advice, suggestions?
Most threads I've seen describe the current ROM but also offer to wipe and return to stock before shipping. It depends on the buyer. But I don't think it will affect the value one way or the other.
Just my opinion but you really should flash back to stock. That way you can rest assured any personal information is removed. The new user can do with it whatever they wish.

You can format it as well and load a custom ROM.

Thanks.
In the future, this could be avoided if you guys had a better definition of what Q&A was versus what General is supposed to be for.
If it was a question like, "How do I root my device", that's clearly Q&A. From the name of it, I picture Q&A being more FAQ type discussions. Its a question with only a minor variance in possible answers, with a clear right vs wrong.
If the thread were something like "Does anyone miss the camera on HoneyComb builds?", its more of a discussion- encouraging a conversation on the matter with no clear answer of right or wrong. Wouldn't that be more appropriate under general?
I suppose what I was asking here is more like advice, which I think would more easily fit under "general" than Q&A.
But it begs the question- if the purpose of this moderation is help organize information and make it easier for others to find in the future, is this helping? I wouldn't check the Q&A section for information like this first, because I don't think the average user would assume it would be found there. I would check general.
Just saying- I've moderated forums before, so just trying to be helpful.
Well let's look at it this way.... Is this a Question about the gTablet? It goes in gTablet Q&A. Is this general discussion about the gTablet? It goes in General.

Well, lets look at it this way- the content does not necessarily have to be in the form of a question.
It very well could have been:
"The merits of selling a stock G-tablet versus one with a custom rom" and then shared my thoughts, while encouraging others to discuss. I phrased it in the form of a question because I find that people are more interested in joining a discussion if it isn't just some dude's angry rant.
That being the case, I would like to argue that this belongs in General. And that the definitions need to be a lot less vague to avoid this in the future. I see that you have that sticky post saying you had to move over 200 threads.
Did you wonder perhaps if there was a greater reason so many are "misplaced" to your definition?
Not trying to make a scene or anything, but I think there is room for improvement here.
EDIT: A quick follow up. More than half of the threads in "general" appear to be questions, and not discussion starters like mine, but REAL questions, like help fixing something or how to do something specific. Those, I would say, belong in a section like Q&A. Although I would still argue that the definitions need to be less vague here if you want your job to get any easier anytime soon.
First off you are speaking about something from over 8 months ago. Secondly, you feel so strongly about it being in General? Then edit your post accordingly and it'll be moved.

this is one of the reasons why people left xda to rootzwiki... mods need to chill the hell out.
I am beyond lost. Im a trucker almost home for a few hours and want my galaxy note 2 the way it should be not bloated by verizon and features crippled. I dont need a fancy room. Just the phone rooted in stock form from samsung. Sprint didnt cripple there notes I dont understand why verizon did. I miss the full screen calender widget.
Sorry I didnt search not safe while driving. What do I need to do to get what I want
Are you looking for instructions to root your phone and remove or disable bloatware?
No offense, but if you can't search while driving, how in the world are you going to read instructions while driving?
Anyone wanting to root has to take enough responsibility to thoroughly understand the root process. No one can provide a quick short cut because you're short on time.
Maybe not everyone agrees with me, but IMO you have to take the time to reasearch and understand what you are doing, and what complications could arise.

How about not posting while driving, either...
Wrong forum also. [Q] go in the question forum.
Makes me feel safe when truck drivers are posting on xda while driving. Don't kill my kids. Thx

Hello all.
Besides loving everything Imnuts has done, plus Dwiths forays into rom creation. I have one question for all.
How the heck does one install the tweak tools? Do I even dare wanting to install it? I had tweaked setup on my droid charge and I kinda figured it would be available on the note 2 as well. I figured it would be available because of Imnuts and Dwiths involvement in the Note2.
If I'm wrong in thinking the tools are to be embedded, or if I'm wrong in thinking they are needed. Please say so.
I installed goo from the market. still not sure what else it will do for me.
Regardless of my ramblings I am pretty sure Imnuts and Dwith should be held up high on a pedestal for their continued involvement in phone personalization. Gotta love it.
God Bless
Gonk

Sorry to have to tell you this but Tweaktools isn't there for the Note 2. If you want to find out all there is to know about it you need to check out this thread. Dwitherell is on T-Mobile now and develops for their Note 2. Then Imnuts ports it to our phones. Of course you need to watch the VZW Tweaked thread too.
I'm not sure if this is the right topic for it.
But I was wondering if I could change the firmware on a cheap (YC-83p) tab.
Got it as a welcome gift from a course I got started. So don't have anny reasons to compain at all.
It doesn't has the greatest specs but it handles some basic stuff pretty well. So it's actually decent for bringing along on vacation or use it as a Home Assisstant controll tab.
It's actually this tab with slightly improved specs. (2GB of RAM instead of 1GB etc.):
Portable 8 inch Android 10 WiFi Tablet - YC-83T | Portworld Manufacturer
2021 New Arrival Portable 8 inch Quad-Core Processor Vertical Display 800*1280 IPS Screen Gms Android 10 1G+16G Android WiFi Tablet
portworld-solu.com
It's actually just fine as it is. But it seems it has some custom firmware onit, at least showing a custom bootscreen of the instution of the course. And I would like to change it if possible.
I searched the internet, but there's actually not much to be found.
So my question is if someone knows how to reflash this kind of devices, or at least change the bootscreen? I would prefer the first option if possible.
Thanks in advance!
edit:
It's running Android (Go edition) 11 btw.

Oh thanks! I already thought it was the incorrect toppic. But it was the best option I could find at the moment.
Totally missed this Android Q&A somehow

Thanks, but I actually don't think it's rooted. Didn't cheked it yet though.
Actually looked for a way to root it, then it would be easier to put custom firmware on it I guess. But there's just verry little to completely nothing to be found of this tablet.
But I asume there must be a way sinse this institution was also able to customize some things.
Some questions:
How locked down is the tablet? Can you access gms services? Can you freely install apks? Are there developer options in settings and does it have the OEM unlock toggle?
Try to install adia64 and 7-zip. What is the processor? If it is mtk, you might be able to temp root your device.
Reviving this as I got this tablet as well and looking for possibilities.
I have posted here about my progress https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/can-we-root-this-tablet.4560407/page-2#post-88355463
Tablet is pretty generic but I don't seem to find any resource about it. Any ideas?
Hi there, I'm new here and I'm only a normal user without special ambition. I need a cheap phone or notepad for some stuff at home. That's why I purchased the mentioned tablet legally, declared broken. I's in fact not broken at all, it's a return from a company with password protected login. Therefore, I cannot use it for anything at this point. What I found in the internet did not work - all I can do is to restore the company settings, not the default ASUS Android and settings. Asus itself told me that was due to the former account not being removed. Only with the former user removed, they could go back to standard.
I don't intend to do anything special nor illegal. I'm not looking for the data of the previous company, I anyway think the tablet was never used before. Can you help me? Or, if I'm wrong here, just tell me where my request is more appropriate. Thank you!

Despites it may illegal, it seems you're the legit owner as of today. There exist multiple FRP bypass methods on youtube, but all these exploits are fixed over time and may no longer work on recent firmware. Therefore it's not a good idea to flash new firmware (it won't reset FRP anyway)
