NO MCP-Mode (USB Mass Storage) in XPERIA S - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

From the SONY support I got the news, that there is no MCP-mode for USB-connection like stated in the Whitepaper on the SONY Mobile website.
They simply said: it's a mistake.... as we copy 'n' pasted the document from another Xperia device...
I'll return it.

if you mean like drag n drop files like a usb stick then there is, you just install the pc companion and go on computer/other devices/xperia s/internal memory

I thing i do undertand what you mean!
You want the hard drive capablity ?? like arc ??
but If they allow to use the USB OTG (usb host ) they they have to give up the harddrive capability !
Obiously arc did have hard drive but nativly does not hyave USB OTG

From the SONY Whitepaper:
Sony Ericsson Local connectivity
More control over your media
Using Sony Ericsson Local connectivity, you can exercise more control over how media files get transferred
and stored. For example, you can select MTP mode to transfer files if you want to limit the risk of
data corruption or select MSC mode if you want to have more control over the data storage.
But MSC mode isn't selectable. MTP is slow and gives no direct access.

[Q] Live with Walkman USB-OTG

Okay, I tried to connect the mouse & keyboard and finally it works
but it doesn't support usb thumbdrive
do you all mates have any method for support usb thumbdrive to extend storage???
Try looking for "USB Host controller" app. It is in market, or here, at XDA. Also, you might need to install custom kernel, which has support of USB-OTG drives. But first, try app only.
Yes, you need another app for external USB devices.
But use only those external hard drives, which use other power source, phone is too weak to give out enough power and will heat up very quickly.
USB HOST mode for sony ericsson live with walkman(wt19i)
simple, for sony wt19i. for this your phone must be rooted.
*download 1. View attachment Xperia-2011-ICS-USB-OTG-modules.zip
2. View attachment ModuleLoader-release.apk
to sdcard in your droid.
*now load all these modules in sd card using View attachment ModuleLoader-release.apk app.
thats all,
connect a pen drive using USB OTG Helper app.
your phone may be restart 2 or 3 times when you connect a pen.
but it will fix after restart.
REMBER; DO NOT REMOVE MODULE LOADER APP FROM YOUR DEVICE,
IF IT REMOVED, DO THE SAME PROCESS TO RELOAD MODULES.
sorry for bad English, hope you helped.
which 1 is for printing?
Pen drive, mouse , key board working. Usb connection on connecting printer is not shown. What is the module for printer connection? I do a lot of job from my walkman. Please help.

[Q][sola] USB PC connection issue

Hi!
Secondly, if connecting my sola to a PC it asks me whether I want to install PC Companion on my PC. So I tap "Install" and there we go: the device appears under Windows showing internal memory and SD card as expected.
The annoying thing is I have to tap "Install ..." every time I'm connecting my sola to the PC, otherwise I'm not able to see my phone's storage under Windows...
This is weird. As far as I can remember there was like an option to choose between USB connection types under GB for my HTC previously (as MTP or MSD). Any chances I could find anything like this under xICS vbeta2 on my sola???
Thanks in advance,
Not sure if xICS changed the settings, but in the settings, look for Xperia --> Connectivity.
Set USB connection mode as MSC.
Stupid me

Of course. It worked.
Weird, it was like set to MSC but kind of "stalled". It needed to be "pushed" a little apparently.
Or what are the default settings?
Anyways, it's working now.

[Q] New Xperia Z tablet wireless connection to pc

Hello all,
This is my first thread on this site as a new owner of an xperia Z tablet , I must say what a device
I have a question and I apologize if it's been answered already , how can I map the tablet to my PC wirelessly and transfer files?
Thx
You need something like airdroid but don't forget you have a quota
Sent from my Nexus 4
1. Install SSHDroid. Run it and you will see your XTZ IP address.
2. Download and run WinSCP. Connect to IP address above with port number is 2222 as set by default in SSHDroid. You can navigate to your XTZ to transfer files back and forth.
great thx for the input !
will try the sshdroid process and report back
If rooted, you can also install "Samba Filesharing", a Samba server for Android.
When running, you can access the internal storage from any SMB/CIFS capable device in the network, also from other Android devices (just use e.g. ES File Explorer).

If all you want to do is transfer media and document files, setup the tablet's Transferring files using Media transfer mode via Wi-Fi feature. Using this feature will cause the tablet to be displayed in Windows Explorer as Xperia Tablet Z and will provide access to the tablet's internal and external storage. Read starting at page 92 of the Xperia Tablet Z User Guide to learn how to setup the Transferring files using Media transfer mode via Wi-Fi feature.
Works like a charm ! thx again

[Question] Loading Z Ultra as a USB device

Hi all
I managed to format everything on my Z ultra
Now while I check all the recovery softwares they need that my Ultra should be added as a USB device. But it always connects as a Media device
I tried switching on the USB debugging but still its the same
Can anyone help me with adding my ZU as USB device and recovering my data ??
P.S. : The device is not rooted and I am on the 4.3 update which released yesterday,
Thanks
Hmm, enabling USB Debugging usually kicks mine into USB mode, but the times when that doesn't happen i try another USB port on my laptop and it works. You can also try these apps: Click and click.

Sorry if this is irrelevant... but maybe this is what you are talking about?
If you want your device to be in MSC (Mass storage mode), which is like external HDD and not the MTP (Media transfer mode) then go into
settings -> Xperia Connectivity -> USB connectivity and choose MSC

Nopes it does not work. May be if you are rooted it would work.
Still nothing. I am losing all hopes that I can recover any data from the phone
