[Q] New Xperia Z tablet wireless connection to pc - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
This is my first thread on this site as a new owner of an xperia Z tablet , I must say what a device
I have a question and I apologize if it's been answered already , how can I map the tablet to my PC wirelessly and transfer files?
Thx

You need something like airdroid but don't forget you have a quota
Sent from my Nexus 4

1. Install SSHDroid. Run it and you will see your XTZ IP address.
2. Download and run WinSCP. Connect to IP address above with port number is 2222 as set by default in SSHDroid. You can navigate to your XTZ to transfer files back and forth.

great thx for the input !
will try the sshdroid process and report back

If rooted, you can also install "Samba Filesharing", a Samba server for Android.
When running, you can access the internal storage from any SMB/CIFS capable device in the network, also from other Android devices (just use e.g. ES File Explorer).

If all you want to do is transfer media and document files, setup the tablet's Transferring files using Media transfer mode via Wi-Fi feature. Using this feature will cause the tablet to be displayed in Windows Explorer as Xperia Tablet Z and will provide access to the tablet's internal and external storage. Read starting at page 92 of the Xperia Tablet Z User Guide to learn how to setup the Transferring files using Media transfer mode via Wi-Fi feature.

Works like a charm ! thx again

I installed the bluetooth explorer lite or any other type of application in android, but nothing, only receives.

From any file manager, Share > Bluetooth
or you could use Bluetooth File Transfer, avalaible on the market for free, it that case it comes with a built-in file manager and also can browse remote files. You can also do Share> Send with bluetooth with this app from any file manager.
EDIT: This should have been posted in X10 mini general as this is a DEV forum.
EDIT2: Correction not General, the Q&A forum, I just noticed it XD.
Ty for help, i will testing, and sry for post in wrong place.

I was tested, and i am not found the "share", in my windows xp, this option dont exist.
I discovered that if i use the "%windir%\system32\fsquirt.exe" in the option "receive file", i can send file from phone to PC, but is a unique file. I need to start aways i to send a file from phone to pc.
With Bluetooth File Transfer is the same, him only connect with PC and send a unique file, if the program above is started.

If your saying that you are trying to access the phone like a windows network share, you need to go to bluetooth file transfer and turn on the Sharing Service (FTP).
EDIT: Forget what I said, since you are using fsquirt.exe, I assume you are using the default windows bluetooth stack. Its just simply there was no software listening for incoming transfers, hence the need to start fsquirt. Anyways, this is not a problem with the phone, in fact you should take it to a windows PC forum, as your problem has nothing to do with your phone.

[Q] Access share folders ( stored on PC in home network) by wifi from the phone.

I have a home network setup. I can use my Windows laptop to access all shared folders in other computer in the network by Wifi. Can I use my Sony X10
(rooted) to access these folders like the laptop?
If my phone can do it, what's setup or application do I need?
Thanks

NO MCP-Mode (USB Mass Storage) in XPERIA S

From the SONY support I got the news, that there is no MCP-mode for USB-connection like stated in the Whitepaper on the SONY Mobile website.
They simply said: it's a mistake.... as we copy 'n' pasted the document from another Xperia device...
I'll return it.

if you mean like drag n drop files like a usb stick then there is, you just install the pc companion and go on computer/other devices/xperia s/internal memory
I thing i do undertand what you mean!
You want the hard drive capablity ?? like arc ??
but If they allow to use the USB OTG (usb host ) they they have to give up the harddrive capability !
Obiously arc did have hard drive but nativly does not hyave USB OTG
From the SONY Whitepaper:
Sony Ericsson Local connectivity
More control over your media
Using Sony Ericsson Local connectivity, you can exercise more control over how media files get transferred
and stored. For example, you can select MTP mode to transfer files if you want to limit the risk of
data corruption or select MSC mode if you want to have more control over the data storage.
But MSC mode isn't selectable. MTP is slow and gives no direct access.

I'm looking for an app (and probable a windows programm) to share files from my PC to my smartphone. Connected to my laptop is a usb-external drive with 500GB. I like to access those files on my android, but dont want to use WLAN.
Is there a windows program which basically shares those files to my smartphone via usb?
In the end I whould like to see all files of the external drive on my smartphone.

Android 5 Write Access

Hi,
i have this simple configuration.
Philips Andoird TV PUS6501 (Android 5) + External HDD
PC (Windows 10)
What i want is to copy files from my PC to the HDD wich is connected to the TV.
I heard this was possible with Android KitKat but since Android Lollipop the function is gone.
I heard what i want is possible if i get root and set up a Samba Server (wtf never done something like that before)
I heard root is possible but only temporary (with the dirty cow script) but i didnt find any tutorial for my TV nor did i recive any help in the Philips Android TV Thead.
So what can I do to get write access when the HDD is still connected to the TV?

Share the files on your PC and use X-plore or ES file manager to copy the files from one to the other. Another possibility is using something like Cetus Play on the TV side. It can set up a simple web server that will accept uploaded files.
