I am currently on the Oxygen rom. I was wondering if I should switch to the official CM7 Nightlies because of the features. What is CM Nightly like compared to Oxygen in terms of speed, battery, and stability. And if these things are worse, is it signifigant? What do you guys think?
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA
Oxygen does beat nightlies in speed/performance but it lags in the battery department..nightly will give you better battery performance..if you using the new version of oxygen, you'll see about the only bug is video recording, both lack camera exposures but nightly camera is better. Oxygen is streamlined,if you want fast go with oxygen...also with that being said oxygen is slightly more stable than nightlies
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
And is there any bugs in nightlies worth addressing?

You can always do a Nand backup and try a new rom, so if you don't like it you can recover your old rom.
if you decide to flash CM7 then I recomend adam's kang with fixed camera and kernel

Fixed Camera? Does it mean that both exposures and rotation are fixed?

That's s pretty much all oxygen is, I highly stocked rom but with alot more performance behind it. You can not have theme chooser with oxygen, however I do believe there are themed oxygen roms

I've been using Oxygen ROM with Go Launcher Ex. It's free and gives you everything you need. It's stable and very light on the battery. And more importantly, in your case, there are a lot of free themes to choose from.
Yes m too using go launcher ex but with this v can't change setting page, drawer look n all... can't v have theme choser or similar in it?

Oxygen was meant to be minimalistic like void forever

in oxygen inclusion of the Internet does not work, reboot helps!
Hard to choose! I switch between Oxygen and the Nightlies. The only problem which I have faced with Oxygen is that sometimes the SD card gets unmounted at times which kinda annoys me because I have a lot of stuff on my SD card, like music

So I want to install the CM7 RC1 rom for my p500 with the new baseband. I know the developers havent been releasing much lately to fix bugs so if the original rc1 isnt the best, then what is? Also I heard of adam releasing camera fix's for cm7 so is that the only main bug with this rom? Links would be nice. I just want to know where to start to getting a close to bug free CM7 on my p500. THANKS. Sorry for being a noob.

The 7.2 RC1 IS the best CM7 so far.
Adam's KANG changes were merged into it, if I remember correctly.
Meanwhile, you could flash trettet's camera fix for your trouble. There's also an non-headset mic fix floating around (Both for RC1).

I use cm7 nightly #34 by adfad and it works like a charm for me, its my main backup
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA
I don't like CM nightlies and RC1 because the default exposure in camera even after applying patch, is too low, so, I use N2 by adfad, which gives me cam quality better than stock ROM
Can anyone confirm if adams fix's were included in rc1? Or if you need to install them seperately.

Yeah I'm using also this ROM and I must say this is the best stock based ROM. If you would like to use some CM based ROM I would suggest you dixperia or techdevil. Those are also pretty good.

Ya, after trying out those cm ROM, Ya, they are fast, but not fully functional, the main function I lost is tethering out. I have a galaxy tab, with cm in my x10, I cannot tether to my tab.
In addition, the camera from cm ROM sometimes force close.

try the latest update from Maikinho10, it's a CM7 with fully working camera (and camrecorder), it's super fast and stable i was running it before switching to ICS

dont worry.. actually there is no such thing as dsc is better than longhorn or longhorn is better than dsc...
every rom has its own pros and cons ...
like me, i am using longhorn or pcm7 because it has more customization..
I've been using several lately, seem to have settled on miui 2.4.20. I tried stock froyo, olleh gb, dsc but this one is my favorite for now. Actually flashed it over dsc 2.1
Dell Streak MIUI
I'm using right now Longhorn ROM and I want to try DSC ROM now.
What are the installation steps ? I have to install version 1 and then update to the last version 2.3? Or I can direct upgrade to 2.3?
And what are currently the issues of the version 2.3 that users reports?
And can somebody write me the cons\pros of this ROM to Longhorn? Maybe someone that had both of them.
Sent from my PMP5880D using xda app-developers app
I like dsc 2.3 but I still had the random wifi stops .....I still like the .7 version cause it was always stable for me.
But there is different settings in 2.3 I didn't try all the different setups .....I think you need full 2.0 first.....install factory wipe .....then install 2.3
I've had longhorn too....there was something i Didn't like about it....it was my randon reboots using navigation...they all have tbere likes/dilikes to be fair though.
Sent from my Dell Streak using xda app-developers app
I thought DSC is the most stable and reliable.
After reading here I assume it's not.
Is there a bug free ROM out?
Stock rom always bugless, custom rom always have bugs. Everybody has their own opinion about which is the best custom rom for them. So the best way is try yourself which rom is fit for you
DSC is the most stable and reliable.
DSC is probably the best all round ROM. PCM7 is probably the better aesthically but I've found DSC more reliable.
Thread closed,
XDA has a strong no 'best rom' thread rule for the simple reason that there really is no best ROM.
Each user will have their own view on which is best for their device, some will say one ROM is best while others will say the same ROM is the worst.
The best thing to do to find the 'best' ROM is try them for yourself and see

There is no official motorola released ics for the atrix. There is an unofficial motorola released ics for the atrix. The unofficial release has been modified by various developers and is usable, with some small bugs (battery drain, hot temp, camera issues). All bugs are known, but not always present.

didnt worked with the GB atrix, AOSP or Blur, it work on none.
but now that we have ICS, leak or Aosp, the blur launcher from the new Razr family works on them and is a lot cooler than the stock and others around, and definetly worth the check.
( and still a stock moto launcher, as you want. lol)
Only on the origenal 4.0.4 released version

Finally thats something new on XDA , someone who made a ROM with the CM7 style , it seems good but I believe it needs more theming . Anyone can try this rom and give some feedback??
