For some reason I cannot flash 4.0 roms. I wipe everything and format system but still no go. I get stuck at a black screen after the red Moto boot logo.
Any help would be great. Thanks
Is your system up to date. I've noticed that they all state your phone must be at version 6.12.173... I've had mine about a week, and it was at 6.11, and I had to flash the update manually as the ota wasn't taking. I have yet to try an ICS rom though.
Think someone also had a problem because they were not using the latest version of Safestrap.

ok so I'm kinda new to all this. I have the dark side rom flashed with clockwork mod recovery and I've heard of a new update and I was wondering about if I did an OTA update would I get bricked? Also if I try to flash another rom it gets stuck at the boot logo. Am I doing something wrong? Also I would kind if like a non-ginger like rom if anyone knows of any.
Thanks

Avoid OTA updates, the devs will have the updated build available quickly.
Try using romracer's recovery.

Hi, I got my atrix 4g unlocked and rooted a few days ago, and I flashed the latest Neutrino rom V2.9 EE. Everything seems to be fine except for I get worse battery life than stock rom (2.3.6). So I went to the OTA and there's an update 2.91, I thought that might be helpful. After I click install, the phone just rebooted to recovery mode (I have the latest romracer recovery), but what do I do from there? Where is the update file and what do I do with it? Anyone has some instructions?

I think that RomRacer recovery is not compatible with OTA. Team Win Recovery Project is, and you can install by following the instructions on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400641
You can install using RomRacer, but you have to do it manually. If I'm not mistaken, the downloaded ROM is inside /emmc/cmupdater (or /sdcard/cmupdater).

Thanks! I want to go with romracer, since I'm new to this thing and I prefer not to mess with another recovery. So do I just use "install from internal storage" to flash it, just like I flashed the rom and addons?

Yep!
When you feel more comfortable with recoverys, rom, etc, try TWRP, it has a touch interface, is very nice.

awesome. I flashed it today. it didn't seem to help with the battery life though. I need to find out what's draining my battery. it's strange I didn't install many apps after I flashed it.

I just returned to Neutrino 2.6 EE (based on CM7.2 RC1). After updating with Neutrino after all these months, I decided to go back to the version that just satisfied me the most with speed, appearance, long battery life (sometimes three days without charging), and outright reliability. CWM 5.0.2.7--not the latest release--is the most reliable recovery version too.
Thats weird, cause the first time I tried updating it did what you all claim but I rebooted and tried again and it worked. I am running the neutrino v2.9 gt with rom racer so it is compatible.

I'm not new to rooting or installing custom roms but my note has me stumped. I followed all the guidelines with rooting and after flashing a new kernal through odin my phone would be stuck at the samsung splash screen. Figuring I bricked It I flashed the stock one and now my phone wont get past the Telus splash screen.
Did I cook this phone? I had no issues with my S and S2 before this I cant figure it out.

You are ok. That is a bad flash. Just reread the instructions then carefully redo your work.
Ranger is correct....
You are soft bricked ....and simply need a good cleaning and reflash ...g
Yeah try a good factory reset

Well thanks guys the only way I managed to get it working was to flash the stock at&t rom. Now if I can just figure out why it's not letting me install a custom rom then ill be set. I'll just keep it digging in the super thread

You need to install a custom recovery to install a custom Rom

I'm using clockwork touch but when I select roms from my sdcard it gives me an error and fail.
Is CWM touch the latest version ??
You may need to update your recovery.
I'm running TWRP 2.3.2.3 and have no flashing issues ...g
Use twrp recovery! The cwm touch found in a lot of these root threads is out of date and will give you errors! I got stuck in boot loop too and had to do this!

Hey guys I'm having some trouble flashing jb roms. It always freezes during the install. I'm currently on ics.

I never flashed from ICS that I recall. However, you could Odin back to stock. Flash a good stable froyo and try to flash up from there.
I don't remember now if GB boot loader is 100% required but I have it on mine.
I'm getting ready to take an exam, if you haven't got it sorted before I return, I'll help you get running.
Thanks for the reply, I do have the gb bootloaders and I tried going back to stock and still no luck. I get a soft brick every time.

Which ICS ROM are you coming from, and are you doing full wipe?
I had a chance to think about it, and I had trouble getting up to 4.1 the first time I tried. I ended up stepping up gradually.
Odin'd to stock then went up to bionic, skipped GB, went up to latest CM ICS I believe... Then from there onto JB. Been fine since.
Its been a while but that's best as my memory cares to serve me.
I don't think its a real common problem, but occasionally something doesn't jive somewhere.
Hi,
Its not necessary BUT it will always work Odin back to stock and continuing. Once I tried to flash ICZen from FROYO but no luck. Then I ODIN back to stock then CM7 in the middle and ICS on top of it and it WORKED. I have flashed GB bootloaders to get easy key mapping (Anyway u have to flash it if it is required by the ROM) I have flahed JB 4.2.2 Avatar ROM on top of ICZen which has worked for me. woody has a [Guide] How to install ICS **EVERYTHING you need to know how to install them** so you can get an idea Sometimes you have to flash the ROM twice b/c CWM updation
Always do a CLEAN flash (FULL wipe) before flashing a new ROM
Hope u would get JB ROM flashed successfully
tc

Yes, this is good advice.
Hey there
I installed a leaked 4.2.1 firmware but it turned out to be too buggy so I removed it and installed the stock 4.1.2 firmware which is I9300XXEMB5_I9300OXAEMB5_BTU however I get stuck in a bootloop after that. What do you think is causing the problem? I used to flash it using ODIN just fine but for some reason now I am in a bootloop. I was able to flash CWM and install Android Revolution HD and it's working but I'd like to go back to stock ROM without root or anything since a couple of friends of mine ended up with broken motherboards after being rooted for a while.
Would flashing this bootloader "bootLoader_XXEMB5.tar.md5" and then the stock ROM work? The 4.2.1 leaked ROM may have updated my bootloader or something.
Thanks!
You have to boot in recovery and wipe

Oh wow how could I miss that. Thank you so much. I just realized that I have a problem with the Messages application occuring on any ROM I install, so it's not a problem with the leaked 4.2.1 firmware but with my device. I am going to wipe the device and cache and reinstall 4.2.1 and see how that works out! Thanks again.
