So far, there is no stable way to record both sides of a conversation on the Photon. (A pay-per-minute service like RecordiaPro may work.) The reason nothing works is because Motorola has blocked sidetone to the headset jack.
Are there any ROMs out there that do send sidetone to the headset jack?

I was testing out Skype with my Gtab and the mic is pretty terrible (no noise canceling). Is there any headset that would work with it?
I don't know the answer as far as a USB one. I use a Bluetooth headset and it works well.
My (admittedly not comprehensive) testing indicates that wired or bluetooth headsets do NOT use the microphone part. So while you are wearing your bluetooth headset record something and walk away from it while talking. When you play it back it is pretty clear (at least on my setup) that the audio is coming from the tablet's mic even though the playback is via bluetooth. Same for a Blackberry 3.5mm headset. Sound comes out, but does not come in.
I've often wondered also how hard it would be to get USB sound drivers going on Android so you could just plug in a cheapo USB sound dongle when you needed more sound umph. But I suspect that would be a big hassle. I have not really put in any effort to figure it out though.
Is there any way to route phone calls through the car dock (and into my car stereo) with the Fascinate? I'm on CM7 and the external speaker volume is too low for hands free driving. I'd rather not have to shell out the $ for a bluetooth speaker since I've got my car dock wired into my stereo.
I have thought of this too but even if you had the audio out to the stereo it would sound horrible since the fascinate does not utilize a second mic for sound cancellation. The other person would always hear an echo.
This was the setup I had with my Droid1, which sent the call audio through to the car stereo and used single phone mic for my end. It worked flawlessly.
Try using the headphone jack, I've done that many times and everyone hears an echo. Maybe the d1 just has better noise cancellation, even through one mic.
They used to work with mine but not anymore. Doesn't matter what type of chorded headset it is, from a $20 cheapie to a $40-50 Sony or Motorola. For one reason or another it disables the mic on the chord, as well as the default mic on the phone itself.
Interestingly enough though - I can use regular headphones (w/out a mic) and use the phone mic but it just isn't the same because I've got to walk around with the phone in hand as opposed to in my pocket.
Anyone confirm they've got a chorded headset working and if so, what ROM are you using? Thanks.
Working fine. Stock rom rooted.

Did you happen to turn on TTY support?
When I turned on TTY support so that my phone MIC worked while plugged into my car stero, I lost the MIC in my wired headset.
I wish there was a widget or application to turn TTY mode off/on.
Nope, never messed with the TTY settings, it's off. I swear headsets (not headphones) always worked until more recently, if I have to go back to stock I just may consider it. Super frustrating because I have bluetooth headset (and stereo in car), but sometimes I prefer to just rock earbuds and I can't take calls as it stands.
My wired headset and MIC are working fine.
Okay, this one confuses me, just came from a Motorola Droid X and when I had the phone docked in my car with it connected to my stereo via 1/8" (headphones) jack it would feed the sound from any incoming calls through my car speakers. I really liked that as it made for an easy hands free system that I didn't have to pay any extra for.
I have noticed with the Rezound however that when I answer a call it uses the phone's speaker just as it would if I had the phone on speakerphone. This is annoying because the built in speaker is not that loud when you factor in the road noise. I find myself leaning forward to be able to hear the phone and not focusing on the road as much.
Is there any way to make the phone feed the audio through the headphone jack to the car speakers?
It seems like it would just assume that if you had a headset/speakers hooked up that you would like the audio to go through them, or there would be a setting somewhere but I haven't been able to find one.
The "headset" icon is displayed on the notification bar when I plug in the audio cable so that leads me to assume that the phone knows it has a "headset" connected even though there isn't a microphone.
It just worked on my previous two phones (Droid X, BB Curve), can anyone else tell me how to change this behavior? Or at the least test it for yourselves and see if you get the same results?
Thanks!
The only way I have found is to exit Car Mode.
Seems counter intuitive, maybe it will get fixed in a future update. Thanks for the reply, I will try it out.
I'm getting a strange problem on my note. I have a pair of inline mic headphones.
While the headphones with the mic are plugged in the phone's mic is turned off which is normal...but the mic isn't working on the headphones. Before you say its the headphones I tested the headphones with a call and voice recording on my sisters galaxy s and my old moto cliq.
Another strange problem. the phone mic also turns off when the apple non mic headphones are plugged in.
Are my inline mic headphones not working because of a hardware issue or software? I'm on hybrid with the any dpi tablet mod on stock dpi.
I'm not going to return this note because It's my third one. After two defective camera units.I'm not going to risk getting a more defective unit.
My current note is however having the known problem bottom right corner.
Any insight on my headphones issue?
It doesn't make sense for them to work on the outdated galaxy s and moto cliq but not my note...
